      @@murphdogfilms89 Glad I can help! I genuinely enjoy being an engineer. I like problem solving and watching my designs progress from start to finish.
      I would recommend you to major in Mechanical Engineering to be general, get the best grades you can, join FSAE or BAJA (Go to a University that offers these programs), gain relative automotive experience...like side projects (working on cars, etc.), and just do your best.
      It's not easy, but with enough determination, you can finish and get into the automotive industry!

    Glad I clicked on this video and read the comments hopefully you see this and respond, so I’m currently in school getting my basics done but I need to transfer to do something I want to do ie something in the automotive world. I saw that you said Mechanical Engineering is what someone should do with the focus of motor sports and then join Baja or fsae teams. My question is what schools are there that meet the requirements is there a list I can see or find? I’m new to all this so I’m really just trying to find a list so I can pick from. I’m in the military and they pay for my schooling so I’m trying to make the right choice. Thank!

I love cars, and id love to get into engineering mainly automotive design. Any tips/advice to help me achieve this? Also, im going to try to do Air Force ROTC dual enrollment for college so whats the work load like for the degree id need. For my last question, im asking if a minor in business or a Masters in mechanical engineering would help me get a job in the field easier. Thats all and thanks for advice if you have any!

    Hi Philip, I'm an italian 18 years old guy who finished scientific high school with top grades. I passed the test for Politecnico di Torino with a good score, but I don't know whether to enroll for Automotive Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. They both have a 3+2 years program. Do you suggest to choose 3 years Mechanical + 2 years Automotive/Mechanical or to go straight with automotive? I like cars but I may not enjoy working for my entire life in that sector. I remember a last year school trip to the Maserati factory in Torino and I didn't like very much the production side of Automotive industry, but I love motorsport, driving and car design (aerodynamics, engine design, electronics and systems). Last thing: Both courses give the opportunity to join the Formula SAE team of Politecnico di Torino, I'm looking forward to be part of it, kind of a dream. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time Philip, have a nice day!! :-D

      Hey Leo!
      If you don't know you want to be in the automotive industry for the foreseeable future...I would just go with Mechanical Engineering. That way, you can go into another field later down the road....not easily, but I think it's slightly easier with a generic ME degree vs having a dedicated Automotive Engineering Degree.
      And I understand not like the manufacturing aspect of the business. Some people like manufacturing, others like design. Play to your strengths, or you'll be miserable everyday. There's more to life than working...so if your quality of life sucks....it's just going to manifest into something even worse later on. So take care of your well being.
      If you're passionate about racing...like you said, join FSAE and try your absolute hardest to get on a race team. Seriously, I think joining a race team is very rewarding...but also very stressful. High stress, high reward. Do whatever it takes to get on a race team, because having that knowledge is very powerful.
      I hope this helped a bit! Good luck with your career, Leo!

      Hey man, this isn't legal advice....but, hopefully you gained some relevant experience through clubs (FSAE/BAJA) or internships. If you have relevant experience, apply to OEM companies on their websites. If you have no experiencer, you should try to find smaller companies to work for in your area. (I'm assuming this) but because you focused your studies on Automotive Engineer, and not a generic Mechanical Engineering degree, you may have a harder time applying for other jobs OUTSIDE of automotive. Hopefully this helps, and just keep applying to OEMs for the time being.

    • @phillipmoua9805
      @phillipmoua9805  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @inas haddouchHey Inas! I reply to everyone's response :D
      So, getting a Mechanical Engineering degree will give you more opportunities outside of automotive if you ever want to venture outside that field. Being a Mechanical Engineer gives you the flexibility to work in the automotive, aerospace, construction, energy, power, etc. You name it, you can probably work in that field as an ME. My university offered "concentrations" within my ME degree, so I have a BS in ME with a concentration in Motorsports. This is a good combo for my automotive itch, but really focusing on being a general ME. You can always sharpen your skills, in automotive for example, as you progress in your general ME career.
      Getting an Automotive Engineering degree specifically isn't a bad thing, but you may be "stuck" in a field you really may not enjoy later down the road. I know a lot of young engineers who find out what they really like after a few years of working. I can say that I do enjoy being in the automotive sector, but I can see how some people get "burnt" out. But this is up to you. If you're set on Automotive engineering, and you want to retire as a senior automotive engineer, go for it. Just know, it may or may not be a little harder to translate your automotive skills into another sector.
      If you're set on automotive, look up universities that compete in FSAE or BAJA competitions, and see which ones placed higher. This will give you a better idea of which schools are better for automotive engineering. If you just plan to go with the ME route, join FSAE of BAJA, work with the team, design components and systems, and get that automotive experience. Regardless, join those clubs because automotive OEMs like to see FSAE of BAJA.
      So it's ultimately up to you. Are you set on automotive? Or do you maybe want to venture into difference sectors? Either way, you'll need to join FSAE or BAJA and get as much automotive hands on experience. Get good grades...it's harder said than done, but you can do it.....and keep at it!
      I hope this helped! Check out my other videos regarding automotive engineering if you want to know a bit more.

    • @phillipmoua9805
      @phillipmoua9805  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brorovil technically, yes I did pay $100 to be apart of the club...BUT! this $100 went towards material, parts, and anything club related.
      Sooo, I did pay to join FSAE at my school, but I'm not sure about other schools. My school didn't have much funding for FSAE, but larger schools who are known for FSAE or BAJA may have strong financial background with the club.
