No matter, how stupid an idea might look to other people... I respect people, who just don't care and make their dreams come true. Thumbs up for this guy
Yep divorced and living the dream
As an ex airline mechanic I can say you did a great job.
Life gives us challenges that we have to overcome. My dad was an A&I which was before A&P. He built many planes and flew thousands of hours with Pan Am and tiny weenie airlines. He passed away before seeing My project. I just saw this video today 08-15-22 and never made comments until now. Your simple comment made me think how he would have said the same thing.
Friends: "so what's your new house like?"
Him: "pretty plane to be honest"
Great 😂
I always say it's a plane home, but someone has to live here.
I LOVE airplanes, and what a lovely home you've made out of this one.
"You arrive as guests, and you depart as friend"-very nice!
It's sad that poor internet connection caused the son to visit less
Ye, internet has this generation obsessed with it like its stupid. Back then it was way better
I would trade the Internet to live in a plane.
He just needs Starlink.
Not to be rude ... but your son shouldn’t care about the slow Internet he’s there to visit you and enjoy your company ... what a awesome dad you are
Not this generation ... it’s about them only
Kids today (thanks to "family" courts and other professional homewreckers) for the most part) are being raised in public schools and by single moms to be flat earthers. The only thing they care about is their "smart" phone and the ability to make virtual communication with other "smart" phone users.
@@leofandersoniii I totally agree with you
the internet has become too much of a utility today. It's like living without electricity which the dad definitely had. The father should make sure he can have the company of his son more by providing that if he can just build an airplane home.
@@leofandersoniii Kids aren't born with smartphones. The parents, who also can't live a day without those, gave kids the phones too. So who is to blame for the state of todays kids with their smartphones?
We've road out there a few times and Joe gave us a tour of his plane house.
NICELY DONE BROTHER..............................thanks for the tour.........:o)
He could make the ultimate home-cockpit for flight sim.
Very very awesome 👍👍👍👍👍 I love it!!!! Especially that you left the instruments panels in,,,it makes it really cool!!!! Some folks take them out sadly but I'm very happy you left them in!!!! If I ever come up that way would love to visit!! Nice job again shawna
This guy seems like your standard wholesome texas man,all he wants to do is live his life and do the best he can for his friends and family,he seems like the "when you're in my house, you're family" sort of guy
What a great idea
How cool is that
Way better than the guy in Portland on Kirsten Dirksen’s channel but he should finish the ceiling with a thin, pliable wood veneer so that it doesn’t look like a cave but other than that, it looks fantastic!
I was thinking the same. The ceiling does not look good nor does it go with the rest of the setting.
Cave 😂
The ceiling has been finished.
As an ex flight attendant, I love it. 💘 😻 💜 💛 💚 🧡 💘 😻
Why wouldn't you finish the ceilings in a wooden batten strip
It's good to have neighbors to watch over each other just in case somebody is slipping not knowing their right from their left.
Great idea! Well done!!!
Would love to know how to also go about sourcing an out-of-commission aircraft.
Aplane auctions in Arizona. Can get them fairly inexpensive, say $2800.00 to start.
@@susanhughey1322 thank you Susan i like it's already got most the plumbing installation, great idea
Very unique and original. Love it🛫
What a dad… I love it
This guy seems like a really nice and decent human being! That plane looks great!
Flew the blue one for a fair amount of hours. Old Midwest Airlines bird and bought from Japan Air Systems. Phased out around 2007 or 8
As a pilot?
How cool!!
The cockpit is amazing
This Guy is.... TOO MUCH....! I LOVE.... his creativity. I just wish I had the money he has, then I would probably like to follow his lead...! Outstanding idea and I love his humble demeanor as well. Really cool cat, this Bro....! 😎
If you don’t have that money then you don’t have the money to buy pretty much any house in the USA.
It doesn't take money it takes persistence. I carried a book with all my ideas of what it would look like showing friends and family, coworkers for over a year before starting anything. Many said to just buy a house and be done. You only get one life don't waste it.
Love your home,so simple but stylish
Excelent... so nice project !!’ congratulations !!! Enjoy it !!
“You arrive as guests and you depart as friends “ I bet he uses that clever phrase of his lol 24/7 and his kids hate him for it lol
The phrase is as corny as the “house”. And judging by the decor, not only the children don’t want to live there… most women would arrive as guests and depart as thanks but no thanks.
@@bauTomthat made me laugh. But poor guy he’s trying..
Totally ingenious!!!
This is really very nice. Would like to have my own airplane home too
What makes you happy looks great love it
With so many people in need of homes, this is a great idea to save lives and the planet.
Pretty cool little place. Needs some wood ceiling work. Sad it seems is divorced likely over this I be. I wonder how hot it gets in the summer.
Thanks for sharing.
The blue one is a Midwest Express Airlines, either a DC-9 or a 717 or an MD-80/90.
A retired airliner comes with a lot more amenities than a retired shipping container, but the cylindrical cross-section is much more of a challenge space utilization-wise.
A lot of the expense and hassle of such a project would be getting the oversize load to the site, but the firms that transport mobile homes should have the right equipment.
Although a DC-9 theoretically has enough space, the fact that he had to gut the overhead to make it livable convinces me that a slightly wider donor aircraft would offer significant advantages.
Congratulations are in order for Axline for a successful build, and turning his dream into reality, but if it's not a Boeing, I'm not going.
You keep your Boeing, I’m taking an Airbus (A380) for my home…
@@bauTom Impressive, but unless you're a Saudi oil Shiek who can afford to keep her flying, you won't be taking her very far.
@@FusionAero first of all. An airplane is a thing. Not a female. “You won’t be taking IT very far”. You’re welcome.
Second of all, a HOME Is not an RV or a flying carpet. It’s not meant to be moved. You may be a snail. I am not.
@@bauTom I can't believe we're getting hung up on gender pronouns for aircraft when I was only wondering how you would get IT from the airport it last landed to your property. A single aisled, narrow body fuselage is the upper limit of what can be moved by road or rail, you would need a riverfront lot for a widebody or jumbo because they can only be moved by barge without cutting them up into little pieces.
Once you make an airliner into a house, or anything else that can't fly, you can't call it "She" but much of the terminology and protocols of aviation were carried over from ships and the sea, with airliners adopting the crew uniforms, "Ship" designation (because they can cross oceans) and female pronouns ("Queen of the Skies", for example.) of the ocean liners they replaced.
Wow Beautiful Airplane House! Pretty Amazing! 🌹USA
“Beautiful” said no one ever seeing this garbage dump shelled in an aircraft fuselage.
Fairly certain this was seen for a couple years outside of Winnie on the way to Houston inside a fence next to a large barn. Always though "what's that going to be" as I passed every 2 weeks coming and going to Baton Rouge.
That's awesome!! Wish I had a plane as a Home!
Wow this is pretty cool! My bf's late Dad was an Airplane Mechanic too! 🛫
Very impressive!
I love this!!!! 💘 I would not mind staying there.😀
I’d say using an airliner fuselage as a house isn’t anywhere near as crazy as it might sound to the ears of the uneducated. The emergency exits over the wings could open out onto nice terraces where the wings were. In fact, the wings and horizontal stabilisers could even be used as mounting points for solar panels, as off-grid power would be worth its weight in gold, given our current situation. Wiring is easily catered for by all the wires that would have powered all the aircraft’s many electrical systems and their backup systems. Plumbing would be mostly already there as not only are there pipes for the toilets onboard the aircraft, but also there are pipes for the hydraulic systems and their backup systems, so, by that token, you’ll have more plumbing than you’ll likely need. Then there’s insulation. It catches out many a greenhorn when it comes to DIY, resulting in houses being freezers in the winter and smoking hot boxes in the summer. The good news is that the insulation is already taken care of in an aircraft fuselage. It’s fabricated by none other than Boeing, Airbus, McDonnell Douglas, Lockheed, Tupolev or whatever company made the aircraft. Why’s that a good thing? That insulation is designed to keep everyone at a comfortable temperature at all times. If the aircraft is sitting on the taxiway for a long period of time awaiting clearance at a busy time in a hot climate everyone needs to stay cool, as the airport tarmac is obviously not sheltered. Likewise, at cruising altitude the aircraft is flying at an altitude upwards of 35,000 feet. That’s the equivalent of a couple of Burj Khalifa towers higher than the summit of Mount Everest, and they don’t hang around up there either, as their airspeeds usually exceed 500 mph. That’s twice as fast as a Bugatti Veyron. To compensate by these extremes, the insulation has to be more efficient than that of a conventional house.
This will never fly-i just dont see it taking off,,,
He probably paid too much. $30.000.00 just for the half, is my guess.
That plane is legit 10 minutes from my house 💀
That plane will be around longer than you. Tell your son , he's there to spend quality time with his dad. Not the internet.
Wow. Great home
How much does it cost to move one of those?
Living in plane sight,so beautiful and comfy.
Sweet!❤❤❤
I don't care how tacky this looks to your neighbors. THIS IS THE COOLEST HOUSE EVER!!!!!
Really excellent. I'd love to be able to do that.
Waooo very interesting!! Nice. Neat. Wonderful!! Congratulations. You are so smart. I love ❤️ it!! God bless you!!⭐️⭐️⭐️‼️♥️🇵🇷
I've been playing with the idea of doing just that since quite some time.
Love everything such a neat idea very creative 💚💚💚👏👏
I just wonder how much cost? 🤔
So Cool ! Thanks for vid !
Wow that's amazing❤💋✌🤘👍🙏
One word that I can express
Awesome 🤩👍🏻❤️❤️💥💥💥
Amazing! Great job! Can you share how much that would cost of someone were to duplicate and would you sell your plans?
So cool!
living in houston myself, have only one question, is it air conditioned?
Well, ofc... Plus, considering the pressure requirements altitude, it's prolly insulated better than most people houses. Electric bill is probably low cost. I would put up a windmill and make it nonexistent. Sell it back to the grid...

Yes, the utilities are set up in the little red and white checkered building to the side.
Awesome.
This is so cool, I love it
you can go in the pilot site
My dad used to do aviation and I would love to do a plane
man that is cool as hell i wont a dc10 or an l-1011 in my back yard rock on man
I want peace in the world.
That's awesome. I want a house like that. lol
So cool
I love this. Great idea for a lot of people. Wonder how much it cost to buy the plane and redo for living???
Good job but you should sheet rock the ceilings
What is the price? How do I get one? He didnt talk much about ventilation problem except the entrance and emergency doors.
Wow Outstanding Job. Thanks for sharing. #MrsDonna
Love it!!!!
That’s so cool
TOO COOL LOVE IT.
He is a genius really
why one bad storm hes upside down
Awesome
I always though pairing a couple of planes would be cool. Like a double wide.
Off of us 50 just outside Brookshire tx.
What about the second fuselage?
Mother-in-law quarters..
Great idea. But I would feel so cramped, too small.
Cooooooool!
seems that only works at places with no winter? Heating up a plane that is not heat insulated might be a cost factor.
@@OutlawAngel75 ... Record setting heat in the CTX last few days...
Great!
Very Create nice job 👍🏽
I think there maybe a few more of these...
Looks cool
climbed into a junked airplane once just for fun and holylord was it hot in there! - would like to know how he regulates the temp in those texas summers
Love your house plane😍😍😍
Looks less enchanting than I expected. I'll stay in my Airstream.
Hehehe. That’s an euphemism. Looks trashy tacky and kitch. Metal beds. Primitive caveman ceiling. 1970s textiles. Euuugh… No.
You probably expected a millionaire’s extravagant 550,000$ transformation. You got a Mr Nobody’s “a dream and a trip to Home Depot” 269$ DIY project. Furniture from the curb included.
Ay Caramba! 😃, what a great idea, Very good job! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻Bravo, 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Bravo👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼, 😷🙋🏻♀️😷
How much do they cost
That's wonderful, spacious, better than usual airplane -- with no risk of plane crash.
What?!? I absolutely hate flying and living on a plane would be a nightmare.
I have seen videos like this, they all do half Ass job never give you details. Where did you buy it, how much did it cost, what is the procedure to acquire it, what was the cost of delivery
Loved what he has accomplished..And Jerry why should he tell anyone the costs..If you want to know , do yr own research..
This wasn’t an instructional video for engineers. This was a sensationalist video for the masses. Manage your expectations. Hello.
Super kool
You could make another one and time share it out or rent one out .
The foam on the ceiling looks awful.
