And I thought this video was going to be another night of misery in a Britannia hotel.......Glad to be proven wrong! That place looks absolutely amazing! I can't believe it's empty! That cannot be possible. If I had an extra night or a long delay, I'd be there like a shot. Great work, Tim.
Definitely. Adding to the list! I stayed in an old boat in Goteborg Harbour years ago and was such an experience. Weirdly I felt like it was only me staying there too. Think I saw 3 other people for breakfast the next morning
This is definitely one that’s on my bucket list as a massive aviation nerd. I’d almost like to see more planes transformed like this into something useful. All too often aircraft like this end up as scrap metal and landfill but this kind of proves that they can be given new life.
I stayed here in the number 2 engine in 2019 during a snowstorm and a word of warning to anyone who has motion sickness as the wind still moves the wing slightly and you can feel it if you stay in an engine room. It was very warm and cosy though and felt like being in a caravan but I had to brave the snow storm in the middle of the night to go inside for the loo...
Me and my wife eloped in Stockholm, we saw this place and thought we would give it a try before we checked into our main accomodation as I'm really into aircraft. We stayed in a basic cabin but absolutely loved it.
My favourite moment in a 747 Jumbo: In summer 1980, as a teenager flying from London to Vancouver with Wardair Canada, myself and my two friends were allowed briefly into the cockpit while the plane was en route. I'll never forget it. I guess security was a little more relaxed 43 years ago!
@@chriscox1535 Chris, I know the feeling. It’s one of the harsh facts of life...the older you get, the faster time goes by. And then one day, it’s all over.😣
Quick history from their website: “The airplane, a decommissioned model 747-200 jumbo jet built in 1976, was last operated by Transjet, a Swedish airline that went bankrupt in 2002. It was originally built for Singapore Airlines and later served with legendary Pan Am.”
It's refreshing to see you so excited about every little detail on this plane. As opposed to the typical moaning about scuff marks and dry scrambled eggs.
First Aviation(ish) based content i have brought my self able to watch since losing my son who was training to be a commercial pilot during the lockdown. Kudos to you Tim for that, very enjoyable video looked an awesome place to stay, he would have loved that
What an absolutely amazing experience. I was not aware that such a hotel existed - why would I?! I thought that the former prison was an amazing hotel (which it is) but I think for originality the jumbo now takes top place above the prison. If you can find more 'quirky' hotels in which to stay they will rank alongside the best/worst as a collection.
Great video thanks. The 747 is and was definitely the queen of the skies. I had the privilege of flying first class from Bangkok to Heathrow on a BA 747, a wonderful experience I won’t forget.
I've always thought the idea was cooler than it would really be. It does seem that unless you're staying in the cockpit it's basically pointless. That said I would still totally want to stay there a night.
I have stayed in the basic room and its cool to , Of course not as staying in the cockpit but you still get the feeling you are in a plain and the basic rooms have windows to if I do not recall wrong.
This brings back SO many memories. Thank you for posting this. Grew up on 47’s and flew last in 1980 from HNL to SGO on UAL. 47’s were and, to me, still are the Queen’s of the skies. Where your sleeping accommodations area was the actual lounge for First Class. Pan Am and UAL had a piano on this deck for specific flights. UA cooked a full rib eye roast with all the fixings. Served on a table cloth, china, true silverware, crystal for your beverages. Dessert might be a cart with four different ice creams all the toppings you might want with wafer or other special cookies. Occasionally, freshly back chocolate chip cookies. And so much more. Yup I was spoiled.
Thanks yet again for sharing the 'walk with tim', tour. It did feel a bit spooky, but I don't think I could sleep in the plane, or the ice bed, but loving the places that I will probably never get round to. But I enjoyed every minute 💚

Hi Tim!we are from a town named Manteca in between Sacramento and San Francisco. Thanks so much for your fantastic videos .We think you are the greatest!
This hotel looks fabulous, Tim. Someone hit on to a good idea with this plane without a doubt. It's amazing about the size of these aircraft, and it's hard to take it in that the first of these started flying in early 1969! They still look ultra-modern in my opinion. The conversion to this hotel is absolutely stunning, and some of the original features still surviving, like the cockpit controls, and some of the passenger seats. Great, and many thanks for this video showing.
Great video Tim! I stayed here in that very cockpit suite a few years ago. As a pilot and aviation enthusiast it was on my bucket list to stay here for years, so great to see it on your channel! The plane itself is a rare Boeing 747-200, also known as the classic series. Fantastic to see something that would have been scrapped turned into something so unique. Keep up the great work Tim, all the best.
Wow! What an experience! I have flown several times on a 747 but actually _staying in one as a "hotel"_ is truly another experience! Thanks for sharing, Tim! Absolutely amazing vid!

Incredible, but think I prefer a hotel with staff! Still what a novelty and great use for an old plane. I watched another vlogger stay in the engine pod, was weird & very small! I can't remember if he was cold, I'll have to watch it again!
17:41 If I ever get this suite myself, I am following a goodnight like this with a deadpan, "Last night I dreamed my hotel got hijacked." Also I think the management dropped the ball by not putting a cheap gaming chair as a replacement for the pilot seat complete with a working flight simulator VR headset. Like, you're in the Pilot's chair of a friggin 747, why not really complete the experience? All the same, despite being slightly rough around the edges this looks like a really cool place to visit, thanks for sharing.
I love these unusual hotel videos. I dream really vividly, so watching these before bed is the perfect inspiration for visiting interesting places while I’m asleep. Great stuff Tim ☺️👍
I worked at airports for years, and yes they are large (the bigger ones obviously), but there is one aircraft that would always impress me and I did have a slight chill about it, almost to the point that I was scared. That was the Antonov-124, and that was the baby out of the model, lower to the ground, but huge, it is the only aircraft I had seen take up most of the runway at Stansted Airport, and Stansted had a long runway compared to most of Europe.
I saw the Antonov 124 here in Adelaide. It was pulled up next to my gate while waiting for a flight to Sydney one morning for work, the size was unbelievable!
What can I say, one of the best vids I've seen in sometime, being an ageing plane spotter from the 1970's this brought back some great memories, good to know the old 747-200 has an after life. Really enjoy anything to do with aircraft so thanks for this its 20 minutes well invested.

I stayed in this cockpit room one night before flying out of Sweden, about 6 years ago, with my daughter. It was my daughters dream, who was around 9-10 at the time. Making her dream come true, was so special to me. It was a very fun experience. The outside of the plane looked better at the time I think. Hi Tim another excellent video and wow you got to sit and sleep in the planes cockpit. That is just so awesome and amazing. Thanks for making this video.
This has got to be the epitome in hotel style, Tim! Not only do you get comfort, but you also get the style as you stay in a real jumbo jet! Once more, an amazing vid. 👍
Well, that was mad! A bit spooky nobody was there, I guess it would be fun if you had friends there, looks a bit tired, wants a bit of doing up! Quite mad🤪😳😁

Fascinating, but feels a bit creepy without any other people there, including any kind of staff, especially security. Not sure I’d sleep well.
I agree with you 😮😅
Yeah I find it very unsettling that there seemed to be no staff in.

You have such a wide range of content! From Pontins Southport to a Jumbo hotel in Stockholm via an ice hotel. Amazing and very entertaining..

I think Pontins Southport was the low point. I used to live near there!

Hi Tim another excellent video and wow you got to sit and sleep in the planes cockpit. That is just so awesome and amazing. Thanks for making this video.
Glad you enjoyed it
A perfect time for an age related question 😂
Who remembers Jimbo ?
I was going to perm my hair later but I’m going to watch this instead
I used to love it! .. Good choice 👌
@@WalkWithMeTim I still have my Jimbo and the jet set annual from 1986 👍🏼😂
Very cool video. I used to work on the 747 in msp for Northwest airlines. Amazing transformation. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
This has got to be the epitome in hotel style, Tim! Not only do you get comfort, but you also get the style as you stay in a real jumbo jet! Once more, an amazing vid. 👍
Well said!
@@WalkWithMeTim 👍👍
Tim this is cool👏🏻 I am sure it would be quite interesting to stay there. My husband would love it😀
Well, that was mad! A bit spooky nobody was there, I guess it would be fun if you had friends there, looks a bit tired, wants a bit of doing up! Quite mad🤪😳😁
yes was a little spooked
I'm a huge Aviation fan and I am really sad that the 747 got retired, I never got to be close to a 747 but this gives me Happy vibes. I will visit this hotel soon, I hope
wow I loved this! no room for the cot tho :-)
I know :-(
I like it. They should get it back in shape and look after it so that people want to stay there. Great Video Tim.
Yes I agree
Honestly, you're like a kid at Christmas! ;) Thankyou, Tim - that was really interesting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ive stayed at Jumbostay few times. Its very nice....and yes the enginerooms are really cramped and small...
