20+ years ago, I helped on a heavy maintenance check on this plane, when it was still flying. Nice to see that it wasn't cut up to be used as scrap metal!
Love episodes like this. It's always nice to see all the variations of "retired" transportation being repurposed like this instead of being dismantled for scrap.
As an engineer, I'm glad they didn't try it the other way around."Flight 411 Brownstone requesting air speed check.. " Tower ..." What floor?" "Please remain on the sofa until the house comes to a complete stop."
This was a great video and if I were wanting to become a experienced bush pilot this would be the school to attend especially with the accomodations you are providing. Great job and wish you every success.
Wow! Back in 1966, I worked on those DC-6Bs for United Air Lines. I loved working on them I was 'sheetmetal/structural repair" mechanic. I also worked on B-727s, DC-8s CV- 340s, Caravelles, and more. Glad to see that old bird put to good use up there. "Happy Flying"!
How cool to live each day enjoying your hobby and vocation as one. Congrats on your success! I really enjoyed seeing what you did to make the airplane resort/home style comfortable. 😃❤️
Talk about unique 😳, and Alaska is such a wild and beautiful place to begin with! It's so fascinating that those two pilots have done ALL of this - the plane accommodations (amazing!), the flight school and the runways... Whoa! It boggles the mind, for sure.
Wow! This couple really went beyond all boundaries! A magnificent business idea mixed with a love of adventurous living & spaces, and a passion for aviation!👍😃🐾🌈☮️🇨🇦
I'm glad you like this book. It sounds like a very useful and informative resource for shed-building enthusiasts. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxzaRUJNcbypw-fRBDbqqz43ULIa-1EGP- The author seems to have a lot of experience and knowledge on how to build sheds of different styles and purposes. You must have learned a lot from his tips and examples. The photos are also impressive, they demonstrate the quality and beauty of the sheds. The book itself is also well-made, with glossy, thick paper and a soft cover that is pleasant to touch. This book is a wonderful choice. blush
I love this, I think it's fantastic. The only issue I have is it's not mobility-impaired friendly. I have found a lot of tour adventures to be not mobility-friendly. There are so many tours I would like to have saved up for and taken, but most do not accommodate wheelchairs, especially motorized ones.
Just moving it had to be a huge expense. I used to travel all over Alaska for work and probably saw this plane in the air years ago. This is only a few miles from where I have lived the last 44 years.
Does he ever say? Some commercial pilots make over a half million a year. I know a few that have bought or created expensive businesses with their wages.
Nah, I’m gonna say this was probably the dumbest way to spend your hard earned money. $800,000 for 700 sq ft of narrow space in a useless airplane. And the work that was done to it for the price was between mediocre and horrible. Would’ve made more sense to build a second home and purchase a 2nd small plane for training purposes.
I heard that Alaska is beautiful. The build is awesome my only question is yes no windows keeps the heat in and light out but aren’t you missing out on that beautiful scenery ?
.... Wow !! A fantastic use of repurposing a structural unit into something functional ..... I grew up north of Denver , Co. and there was a commercial aircraft fuselage built into a roadside diner ... It was pretty cool to see .... in the area of Erie,Co. .... Don't know what current status of it is ,,if it's still around ... this was late '60's --early '70's .... Building one is a huge undertaking but multiples ?? WOW !! ..
What a passion project! Some missed opportunities in terms of interior design I feel. Could have been more aero themed as it was standard design inside. The seating area could have had first class couches facing a wall with the tv and a fold down shelf on the wall. Doorbell switch could have been the "call attendant" button. They should have had one of those attendant carts as a mobile bar!
It locks warmth , the place needs to be spruce up little bit . Few pics of airplanes, few big pots of live plants ( there is more than enough space for it) few rugs , some color. There is no gravel walking paths. It looks unfinished. Other than that its great. Also it's not our business their financial situation. I'm giving 5 without + . Fantastic place for airplanes fans. I'm glad he made his dream come through 🥂🍾👏👍🏻I definitely would like spend a long weekend there. Good luck 🍀 guys
Very interesting video greetings from oakville southern Ontario Canada in my town there's 2 homes constructed by shipping containers and one built upside down everything inside is the opposite the bedrooms are on the ground floor and other rooms are above but from the outside it looks like a regular house
Although not the first airplane converted home that I've seen (the other one is somewhere in South America), it's still really cool. The only thing that I would add is a driveway with either a double garage or car port.
The cost isn’t too high. 399.00 a night. John has been ranked as a super host. I bet he makes his invested money back so on. This would be a one of a kind experience.
Why wouldn't you put more into the property, for a longer run way, and have the large planes flown in as part of the decommission price and arrangement there by lowering the transport fees if that might be possible?
My take; I would've left or put the propellers on to give it the feel even as a none functional prop.. You did a great job but it still needs that detail outside with the propellers.

One of my neighbors in the valley had been flying for nac for many years.
👍🏼
How you know its the same plane
@@sitabarry7739 The aircraft registration number on the back of the plane.
It almost was!

job well done! your guests will never forget this experience! bravo 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 ( re- think the masters 😉✌🏼🇺🇸) god bless our troops‼️😊
Amazing plane home great job 👍💯
😊
As a former flight attendant and lover of tiny homes...this is fantastic!!! If I could have this on a warm beach, sign me up!!!

I would love to stay in something like that over a motel or a bnb with a beautiful girlfriend think that would be impressive
Neato!
Thanks for telling us the horrendous costs involved so we don't think; "Oh, I wanna do that, it will be cheap"!
Get in your plane Steph and fly fly away
I love the wife's expressions while he's explaining the cost🤦😄
That was the best part! She looked 100% done.
haha i was thinking the same thing.
Was just coming to the comments to say that 😂
Yeah all she has to do is lay down to get all that money her rich husband hordes.
dont be a karen @BethlehemEisenhour
The deck on the wing is a fabulous idea! I suggest you call it the Wing Deck...
This was a great video and if I were wanting to become a experienced bush pilot this would be the school to attend especially with the accomodations you are providing. Great job and wish you every success.
I am a retired cargo pilot and really enjoyed the video. A very cool place for sure. Thanks for keeping the spirit alive!
How long you retired ? can you still fly a plane alone ? Just curious

That is really awesome! You thought of everything to make it sturdy, safe, unique and homey!
Doesn’t look homey to me at all
This is a really awesome renovation . I love it !!
This is the most fascinating home that I have ever seen! ♥️

Wow 😃 What a unique and amazing idea for a home, which can also one day be a museum of an older airplane. Their incredible imagination is inspiring 😊
Wow! This is amazing. Wish it wasn’t so far away so I could see the outside in person. Looks much bigger than 700 square feet.
Love this! Maybe I can finally sleep comfortably in an airplane.
This is so cool!
I like the idea that you can make the plane PART of the house!
A plane as the whole thing is cool too,but its nice to have options!😎
The gentleman is a very good speaker. He described that build like a real professional.
A professional con man.... Watch the woman's face.
Holy crap. Not sure whether to feel happy or sorry for these 2. The look in Stephanie's eyes while he was talking.... remorse
Genius and fun. Love this. Great work.
What an incredible build. Love it!!!

This is the 2nd or 3rd airplane home I’ve seen and it’s the very 1st one that’s not cluttered.
The coolest tiny house you ever showcase.
Beautifully done,love it😊

nice I would have put in some more windows or port holes so you could see the scenery !
Man that is so fantastic you had such an awesome idea of making a home out of an airplane awesome job I'm just like totally impressed😊😊😊😊😊😊
This is so unique and amazing❤❤❤❤
That is the coolest tiny home , absolutely love it , they should contact Mike patey and get him to sponsor first flights with this couple!
Makes you wonder what they did before they got into aviation to be able to drop $800,000 on this plane. It's a pretty cool concept.......
Just moving it had to be a huge expense. I used to travel all over Alaska for work and probably saw this plane in the air years ago. This is only a few miles from where I have lived the last 44 years.

It is not fantastic….more like stupid $800000, but good luck nice folks living a dream🤔

@@CoolArt81 I totally agree. The look on his girlfriend's face said it all.
First time seeing airplane into a home wow amazing beautiful couple
The flight school must be doing well. That’s a lot a cheddar…for each plane.
Well colour me completely impressed. Your wisdom is refreshing🤗💕
This is the ultimate type of living space, I love it. Kudos to you both 👏
Love they are living their dreams!

Great job! I just love tiny homes. Beautiful space.
Wow, I hope it was worth it!

Just fantastik, congratulations! God bless you
Absolutely creative and stunning
Oh my heck, beautiful. ❤😊❤
I love the way they did it
interesting. would love to visit again when they're finished.
Insanely awesome but also insanely expensive. I'd do something crazy like this if I had the money.
Fantastic work !!!

Yeah the interior is horrendous. Needs some decorating lol. Looks like a narrow hospital corridor
Wow! I flew that plane back in the early 90’s.
You have much to be proud of young man. I fantasized this very thing but- I didn't make it happen, you did. Very nice work. Be safe.🙏🏻✌️🤙🏼
That was awesome...thanks for sharing. Love ya, Nancy
That is gorgeous and spacious ❤
Wow, amazing! You might consider filling the tires with a hardening foam just so they stay round, even after dry rot.
That’s a wonderful idea❤
This is taking a throw away and making it useful again.. Cool
The inside of that living room screams for a cool aviation/skyscape/alaskan landscape mural of some kind.
this is ridiculously cool!
This is Gonna b so Good🔥🔥🔥👍n Happy Tuesday😀….

He did say they were still working on it.
Great idea, but I think they would do some landscaping around the plane, maybe some kind of sidewalk area.
They are still working on it.
So cool!
Love it! Hopefully there will never be any high winds storms coming through that flat plains you have there... that would be tragic for ya'll !! LOL
Beautiful design but it would have been nice if they had kept / added a few top cabinets to give it that retro aircraft feeling.
Thanks👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
That’s pretty cool!
Pretty neat but it does need a few windows like in the kitchen.
What a great idea! 👍

This is a great recycling idea....I might just visit Alaska to check it out😎
Very cool idea, I would like to stay here for a few nights!
amazing what people are capable of creating.....so very cool
This all sounded good on a bar nap✍🏻💰

What the fuck is a super host? And where does he ranked at
Host where
I wouldn't spend 50 bucks a night on this thing. No windows, ugly gray, prison looking interior. No thanks
Cool you kept some of the original stuff
I would go insane in there
That makes sense living the outdoor inside of airplane!!
Excellent. ❤
It is pretty cool!
Looks fun but I think it needs some color

Yeah mate, ditto. It looks junky without propellers and the holes not covered.
I’ve always thought this would be a good concept for housing. Plus it’s a good way of recycling.
This is extremely nice. Heck yeh...I could live in one!
How awesome ❤😂😂
I would have liked to hear more from Stephanie.
Great idea but looks like you just attached some out houses to the front of it, needs some style!
