Maguire is *not* too old for Spider-Man 4 if they just adapt the 1998 Spider-Girl series. It's a fun, well loved, storyline about Peter's stable but stern relationship with his daughter and how his age slows him down. The time gap is just about perfect now for it. No multiverse garbage, no yaas queen, no girl boss, just an honest sequel that stood on its own merits and still holds up.
Never heard about this Spider-Girl series... but honestly, in my experience, Spider-Man is maybe the only comic were a gender swap actually looked cool. So yes, that first impression, the aesthetics and cool factor, Spider-Woman actually looks interesting, unlike the Super-Woman, Batgirls of the world
Hugh Jackman is arguably too old for Wolverine but he’s back for it. And he’s older than Maguire. Plus, it’s easier to switch the actor for a stunt man or the like if they’re covered top to bottom in their costume.

I'd rather they come up with new ideas and characters and go that route instead. They say "absence makes the heart grow fonder"...maybe let these overused characters take a rest? Let the impact of what just happened set in with the fans..? Build suspense...anticipation...as opposed to turning the faucet on and letting "the sludge flow" as Drinker says.
Venom was a success cause it had Tom Hardy, a popular comic character, and didnt have anything horribly offensive to the audience. It was a safe comic book movie
Exactly, it was simply made to entertain. Now imagine if all their movies and series were like that. But Disney's corrent occupiers explicitly state they hate the thought of just entertain the audience that wants to be entertained. I have known many students from Asia over the years, and I am always so embarrassed - they love Westerners and want to see movies with handsome White men and beautiful White women. But instead there's crap inserted. And in music and in the schools too, and when there's a culture day in town full of shiht. And they can't understand why. I remember the frowning, troubled face so clearly.
I think part of the draw too is the eventual battle and/or team up between venom and Spiderman and the fact that Spiderman may end up merging with the symbiote for a while during the film.
No joke, I feel like Venom is the sort of movie that should have come out 10-15 years before it actually did. It just feels like it doesn’t belong to the modern era.
At first I though they were cash grabbing, low budget to catter dumb consumers, but these movies are ridiculous expensive like a laundering scheme or something. They probably paid a premium price for such a shitty trailer.
What was really odd about the second movie, especially in the beginning, was that the talk and actions moved very fast. I always look at how my girlfriend reacts since she is more of The Average Viewer, and she was put off by that too. The scene where Venom is making pancakes in the kitchen, singing and splashing everywhere, by then my brain was starting to get tired from it.
I prefer the first film Venom seemed more darker in that one. While in let there be carnage it just turned into a weird bromance comedy. And they did a good job on the design of carnage but they handled him so poorly its almost insulting to his character. Finally he gets to be on the big screen and that is what we get? Oh and that whole venom in the underground club scene was cringe inducing.
Never liked the Venom movie despite the better overall improvement from Spiderman 3's version. It wasn't dark and threatening like the comics. Tom Hardy was more Tom Hardy than Eddie Brock to me. It looked rushed and incomplete. As much as I wanted it to be a hit, it just wasn't for me. But it did set a box office record which is fine for the more casual fans.
@@Subsaibot2526Lost opportunity for something epic. Then again, I have vivid childhood memories of playing Maximum Carnage- a very flawed game that feels more epic (than it is) due to the age I was when I played it.

Sydney Sweeney would be a draw (for me anyway), except they made her plain and dowdy and her superhero outfit reveals zero skin so I’m not even sure why they hired her to begin with. Plus Shades of Gray lady is a charisma black hole. This will absolutely be Morbius 2: Wahmen Edition.
Yep, if I was making this movie and they told me we had Sweeney, I'd be retooling that script to focus on her - maybe cripple madame web in the opening scene then get Sweeney in the suit as early as possible and just eye-candy the heck out of this film.
@@christophertaylor9100 I mean, she's definitely not a bad looking girl, just not exactly magnetic. Although I thought she was fine in the Suspiria remake.
based on teaser images, someone predicted that theres going to be a scene where it's revealed that either Uncle Ben is going to end up getting his "with great power comes great responsibility" quote from a chinese fortune cookie, OR, that SHE is going to be the one to say it to him and it will change his life forever" so yeah, thats about the most people are expecting from this movie. turning something serious and thoughtful into a joke, or retconning it so that a woman did it.
@@sterlingarcher74Nah, the whole quote stems from the philosophy of noblesse oblige. Those that proclaim themselves noble must conduct themselves so, likewise those who are granted great powers ought to use those powers to do right.
@@cameronmorgan9622 Heh well, to be honest the only reason I ever knew about it was because these guys (I think it was, might’ve been Midnight’s Edge) mentioned it.
If they put Sydney Sweeney in a skintight suit the whole movie and get all her angles in the best light, and you've got a bigger box office success than what they're doing.
For real I can't fucking conceive of how you screentest her in that suit and say "excellent, now let's dedicated most of the runtime to Dakota Blankface and a squad of nobodies"
I had to google her and I find it astonishing how they were able to conceal such a high level of physical attractiveness. All it took was just some plain shirt with short sleeves and skirt or whatever was that. Wow.
The first Venom movie I actually appreciated, for the slow build and giving characters time to flesh out, before letting the titular character “Venom”, to turn the story upside down. Also the stunt work and body acting done by Tom Hardy was very well done.
Tom Hardy was hilariously awful, as opposed to the rest of the movie, which was just awful. Hardy knew he was making junk and went full retard, and , despite what Tropic Thunder argued, sometimes that's the right choice.
It's almost as if they are purposely trying to ruin the genre. "If we make the worst possible superhero films that we can, in the shortest amount of time possible... people will quit asking for superhero movies altogether !"
I’d accuse Disney of doing that. Eventually the MCU will just become so bloated that they literally cannot afford to keep it afloat anymore. Too many characters and too many movies that they’re too afraid to kill off because they need to keep their “diverse” characters
The most rational explanation I can think of is "Everyone is on the payroll of a rival studio". I mean, it would kinda explain why everyone does everything in their power to ruin whatever IP they're assigned to.
I wouldn't know this film existed, if it wasn't for this podcast covering the trailer a few months back. Congratulations, you've done more to advertise this thing than the actual studio 😂
I remember Madame Web from the animated series. It only changes the question from "Who is she?" to "Who tf is asking for main character Madame Web?!" I expect the answer to be dotted with checkboxes.
The only major release I’m looking forward to this year is the second part of Dune. It’s over 40 years since I first read the book and I’m hoping they’ll continue to tell the same story. Outside that there seems to be a lot of flogging horses that were dead years ago.
And they delayed it from the fall to the spring. Why? Because of the writer's strike, so the female love interest has a leftist actress who should not play that role, nor the role of Mary Jane. She refused to promote the movie on talk shows in solidarity with the strike. And oh no, we can't have a movie without blabbering it up on the HOLY TALK SHOWS. We would miss the audience that watches those trash shows, and clearly that audience is what matters. (People who have actually read the novels? You are nothing. Go away. Especially don't tell anyone that Liet Kynes was a White man with red hair, not a Black woman, and that Chani was his daughter, not a Marxist Latina.)
In the book the banquet was pivotal as Kynes went to the Atreides side. How much impact did that have? Paul wasn’t accepted by the Fremen until he killed Jamis. So the banquet becomes optional to the film. Paul has to be accepted so he has to fight Jamis. It’s also important in being his first kill. In the book that happened at night, without stillsuits, in the Cave of Birds. Did it have to be that way? Cheaper and easier to film during the day. Would moving it to daytime change the importance of Paul killing Jamis? Things get changed or left out when transferring from book to film. If you take away the banquet what does Kynes do? Take the Atreides to see a spice harvester, and get killed by the Sardaukar after Paul had gained his loyalty. The gender swap in the film doesn’t eliminate those. The film isn’t telling the story of Liet-Kynes. As for girlbossess. Herbert filled his books with them. Bene Gesserit, Fish Speakers, Honored Matres. The universe of Dune isn’t one for haters of girlbosses.
@@darrenjones5885 Except the Bene Gesserit in this movie are weepy losers. And the strong Duke doesn't care if his son carries on his house, but just wants him to be free. Two changes that completely alter the foundation-stones in Paul's life. The harvester scene in the book is critical because it shows how riddled the society is with traitors - there is no air support. The movie completely screws this up, and also has one of Paul's first spice visions there, which is ridiculous because he's been taking spice his whole life. And I think they even have him rescue the Fremen which is also absurd because instead in the book he sees in that scene how they do what everyone else thinks is impossible - striking out across the desert. Changing Kynes is completely absurd in a WARRIOR culture which puts men on the front lines and women NEVER if at all possible. Of course in modern days this is impossible because the idea that women should remain at home to raise children is against the 'Message'. So then that has to be changed too. The movie doesn't JUST change a thing or two to serve the different medium... ALMOST EVERY DETAIL is completely different and in fundamental ways which show that the director doesn't have the slightest idea what held the books together and their cultural precedents.
Not trolling anyone, genuinely curious: where did all the Stuckmann hate come from? I mean I kind of get what they’re saying and it’s hilarious, but why is it now a thing?

I recall the video he made specifically talking about how he is going to stop bashing movies and will only review movies that are not mainstream. Yet since then, he has reviewed mainstream movies. Second, if he was seriously passionate about his stance, he would delete old videos where he bashed movies. Even all 4 of his live action dragonball reviews. I want to see some other villains appear in a Spider-Man film. They should honestly just go back to Scorpion from Homecoming.
Or games to be honest.
Venom was a success cause it had Tom Hardy, a popular comic character, and didnt have anything horribly offensive to the audience. It was a safe comic book movie
Exactly. I enjoyed it. No, it wasn't great but I had a nice afternoon.
It was such a trash movie - should have been R Rated!!

It's crazy because they're trying SO HARD with these movies, and at the same time, not fkn trying AT ALL.
At first I though they were cash grabbing, low budget to catter dumb consumers, but these movies are ridiculous expensive like a laundering scheme or something. They probably paid a premium price for such a shitty trailer.
The problem is, they're trying too hard to cater to an audience that barely exists (while also actively alienating their actual, existing audience).
How ironic this film comes out on Valentine’s Day. Because it’ll be getting No Love….just like me…
😢
That's not true Brother
I'm pretty sure someone will show love to this movie.
Considering that their latest ad was marketing it to thirsty incels, it all makes sense.
Someone will find an opportunity for some "self love" as the only person in the theater. Perhaps that's what the film is actually all about?
Venom could've been such a great franchise if they hadn't turned it into a buddy comedy.
I rewatched Venom the other day, and I enjoyed it, but then I'm in love with Tom Hardy, so maybe that has blinded me to how sucky it was.
But it did set a box office record which is fine for the more casual fans.

based on teaser images, someone predicted that theres going to be a scene where it's revealed that either Uncle Ben is going to end up getting his "with great power comes great responsibility" quote from a chinese fortune cookie, OR, that SHE is going to be the one to say it to him and it will change his life forever"
so yeah, thats about the most people are expecting from this movie. turning something serious and thoughtful into a joke, or retconning it so that a woman did it.
To be fair, giving a teenager solid advice that you yourself got from a fortune cookie 20 years ago IS the most dad/uncle thing I can think of.
Oh they have the line... but they literally changed it into "if you are responsible, you will get great power"

The first Venom movie I actually appreciated, for the slow build and giving characters time to flesh out, before letting the titular character “Venom”, to turn the story upside down.
Also the stunt work and body acting done by Tom Hardy was very well done.
Tom Hardy sells that movie imo.
Tom Hardy was hilariously awful, as opposed to the rest of the movie, which was just awful. Hardy knew he was making junk and went full retard, and , despite what Tropic Thunder argued, sometimes that's the right choice.

"If we make the worst possible superhero films that we can, in the shortest amount of time possible...

I’d accuse Disney of doing that. Eventually the MCU will just become so bloated that they literally cannot afford to keep it afloat anymore. Too many characters and too many movies that they’re too afraid to kill off because they need to keep their “diverse” characters

They didn't tell the story of Dune in the FIRST movie. They just wore its skinsuit and filled it with GIRLBOSSES.
No one on this thread even saw Dune clearly. There were barely any women in it at all. Get therapy.
