heyo BKC, especially as a beginner to competitive pokemon, it's super enlightening and eye opening to see the diversity of team building. thanks for doing this :)
i love these team analyswis and augusts team looks really good and hard to wear down in the long run since it has the necessary tools and longevity. moreover i love those names on this team, they are really creative ngl :)
the game had a lot of twists and turns and they are both very high caliber players. it was a fun game to watch and there were a lot of mind games going on between them because they had played each other so many times before this
I loved Scarf Flygon on balance teams back when DPP was current, but I was so in love with Celebi + Heatran that I never ended up iterating on it, let alone running Milotic. Toxic in particular is an inspired choice.
From what you're saying, it sounds kind of like cheesy teams in Pokemon are a lot like cheese strats in, say, Starcraft - they rely on the enemy not seeing them coming due to their unorthodox nature. I imagine in such an old metagame as DPP, the metagame would also be fairly calcified, meaning that people are more vulnerable to this sort of thing.
What’s the key to optimizing ev spreads like he does here and you do as well? Like for Magnezone and Flygon. How / why were the hp / def investments picked for each over the standard 252/252. They’re small investments but make a difference. Thanks
You put a little bit into special/defense if you want to have a higher chance of surviving a certain attack from some pokemon. You calculate by plugging in the set you are wary of, or if for the mon in general assume the maximum attack power, and then give your thing EVs until you are satisfied.
Thank you so much for the team analyses, Kevin. I really enjoy watching them as well as trying out the team in the tier whenever I'm on PS. Could you do one for BW/Gen 5?
Thanks for making these vids, it really helps out people like me (I came to competitive in gen 5) learn older metas, as well as EV optimization! If I may ask, how do you usually optimize EVs? Do you just go: okay, this Mon needs to take this threat's hits and calc the damage with different EV spreads?
Why would u use milotic when it doesnt have scald in gen 4, why would u use gliscor without poison heal in gen 4, why would u use clefable when its not fairy type in gen 4
Not to be that guy, but wouldn't this team be better named "Lactose Tolerant", since it's well able to stomach cheese? :p
Bruh
I’d have to agree with you there lol
Was about to push up my glasses and make that point but heeeey glad I wasn't the only one.
It's destroying cheese with extreme prejudice

I'd argue that nicknames are the most important things on the teambuilder
nice vid, cbb vs blunder for spl should be an episode for greatest battles just because of how many people were watching it
The game itself really wasnt that great
One of the most iconic, sure, but if I remember correctly they were just saccing back and forth to keldeo
the game had a lot of twists and turns and they are both very high caliber players. it was a fun game to watch and there were a lot of mind games going on between them because they had played each other so many times before this
How many viewers?
love the continued podcasts for the public's enjoyment

for speed evs, simple as knowing your meta's speed tiers. for the rest, this is your best friend: calc.pokemonshowdown.com/

Played a guy named Vusty for the DPP Summer Seasonal. He actually brought this team lol. Didn't know August's team was popular. Cool vid BKC.
Vusty is good

yeah, that's pretty much how it's done
The 12 defense on flygon lets it always live jolly sd luke extreme speed at +2 after stealth rock!
Neat Video. Commenting to power algorithm.
You are too nice. You know if someone deserved selling out, it would be anyone with the knowledge you have.
where's "Logan To Government Center" or "The Shower Scene?" Classics for the Brand New theme!!
too many great songs to fit! i considered logan to government center but itd be a little botched with the 18 char limit
I know I’m late but I’m wondering how you deal with spike stacking teams and tspikes as they wear milotic down fast and take a huge toll
flygon gliscor and clefable are good against such teams, especially w magnezone's help.
Thanks
But what if it has threats that milotic is required for it gets worn down so fast
then you have to outplay them. they're not going to be able to fend off a repeated flygon attack.
Ok thanks a lot
seriously, how does balance team deal with machamp without using spiritomb or slowbro? I'm frustrated when I'm facing a
machamp
You should do a vid like this on Icrawled
I’m a poor college student but I’ll make sure to continue to like and comment for ya dude !
Don't mind me, just helping with TH-cam algoritm
In the comments to help the channels algorithms ;)
canalave city IS the best
Nice vid
People do run Lanturn now lmao
Oh cool. Someone who uses Matter a fact instead of Marafak
“Shoot the breeze” hun…
Comment.
Algorithm
Bruh, you need to link the pokepaste
the team's every detail is on screen, you can recreate it with 100% accuracy
Why would u use milotic when it doesnt have scald in gen 4, why would u use gliscor without poison heal in gen 4, why would u use clefable when its not fairy type in gen 4
becayse they’re good?
