Used to play this a lot, I was planned set pieces very carefully because I always picked a 2nd tier team and worked them up to promotion, set pieces are if planned and executed correctly the underdogs weapon of choice and the favorites can use them to open up a defensive side. Maybe it's because I played full back and use took take corners and freekicks a lot, gives a perspective.
Levy probably started watching tifo when Jose was sacked and will try to cut on costs by having himself as the manager, analytics team and everything else- After that, he'll get a letter from the FA and UEFA telling him to do the coaching badges and will try the ESL again with a rule of no badges needed.
"Only 1.6% of us have taken the time to create a set-piece plan for every occasion". I think that says more about the way Football Manager implements set-piece planning than it does about the people who play the game.
THISSS!! It's also weird that it hasn't really improved that much in the 20+ years I've played. Even when I bother to set them properly, it's all wasted on something like the central defender instructed to "mark tall player" being in the kick-off spot during defensive corners. Or when you switch to another tactic during a match and all the setpiece instructions being all wonky even though they're saved correctly in the tactics.

One big tip that I feel everyone should know. If a player has a tendency of performing poorly, particularly when that player is supposed to be better than the other players in the relative division, then go to the reports page for that player and check for the players' consistency. Consistency is a very important attribute in the game, and it is hidden, but try at all costs to not make an inconsistent player a key part of your tactic, it is better you try to limit the number of things they do. Alternatively consistency influences technical and mental attributes, so try using him in more physical roles to at least limit his ineffectiveness. Combine that with making sure the player is happy and you might be able to at least not have a low 6.2 or 6.1 rating every game. Consistency will gradually increase as time goes on, but very slowly, maybe +1 every 2/3 years. If a player is worth keeping for that amount of time, then you can be patient and wait until that player has an average amount of consistency(the report will show it gone by removing the description "is fairly inconsistent", but some players have extremely low consistency and are unsalvageable.
Hidden attributes never make any sense to me. True potential, I get, but if a scout can quantify a player’s determination, they can quantify consistency easily
@@matthewvaughan8192 Without hidden attributes you would have perfect knowledge of every player's true value and ability..it makes the game interesting - and frustrating.
@@Veaseify What you mean like in real life? That’s my point. It’s a simulator. If you can quantify consistency in real life then you should be able to on the game. I never said it has to be 100% accurate, but everybody just ends up looking at them anyway. Just make it a mental attribute
BWM works well with a support role. I used Jordan Henderson as BWM for my England squad and we won the EUROS and Nations League with ease. BWM is very similar to BBM but with Support tactic, you win the ball much higher up the pitch.

I think it also depends on which version of FM you're playing. I loved FM 2011 and had a great save on it, but when I moved to 2016, I found that the kind of players and tactics which thrived in 2011 just couldn't get near it in 2016, and vice versa.
