One of the funniest moments I had with FM was actually fairly recent, back in FM 21, I started a save with Werder Bremen (loved their team as a child in the 2000s), according to some pre-season rankings, we were expected to get relegated that year, yet somehow I managed to get them to fourth place and Champions League football for the next season, mainly due to the defense (apparently we conceded the fewest goals in Bundesliga history and Pavlenka also broke the record for the most games with clean sheets), thanks to this achievement, I was able to convince James Rodriguez to join us from Real Madrid, but it took him at least five or six tries to pass the medical test, and once he arrived, he got injured in his debut, missed the first half of the season and the club fired me for my terrible start at the league and missing the Champions League knockout stages hahah, I fucking love this game to death

Jeff Stott was the best regen I ever had, he came through the youth academy at Carlisle United at a time when we were at the bottom of the National League (I'd left Bayern after ten years to save Carlisle because we had somehow dropped down to the Vanarama National League North). He saved us from relegation from the National League (I got us promoted from the Vanarama National League North), he scored 42 goals that season.
He ended up winning everything you can possibly win after we got promoted into the Premier League and won the Premier League within four seasons in the Premier League (and we also won the Champions League). By the end of his career he was a club legend with 738 league goals in 1000+ games and had 3 ballon d'Ors.
What an absolute legend he was.

On my current save I signed 2 regens and had a guy come through the academy, the 2 I bought for a combined £3m. Within 3-4 years I could easily get 100-150m EACH of the three players, plus a guy I signed from Barca’s youth academy for £3m who has 5 star potential and 70 career goals at 18 YEARS OLD for Barca B. I’m already 12 years deep but I’d happily go another 15 just to see the best 4 players of all time develop together, especially as they all can play in a 4231 together at the same time.

I grew up on Career Mode since like fifa 09, played it extensively every year. Had delved into FM before but didn't really like it, but when FM22 was free on epic games last year I tried it and realised how much it DOMINATES career mode in terms of features and overall quality. The one time I played CM this year, I hated it and haven't touched it since October which is a first for me, whereas I've been addicted to my Leyton Orient save since like August. It's such a fun game!

My proudest moment in fm is when I bought a Brazilian wonder kid for £69 million. In his first 17 games he scored 2 goals and was looking like a flop. I debated cutting my loses and finding a new striker but in the second half of the season he kicked on scoring 15 goals in 13 matches saving me from relegation and he became the striker I knew he’d be. I then sold him a couple seasons later for over £150 mil

When I was a kid playing FM09, I took control over Real Madrid and bought the aging Norwegian striker ''Steffen Iversen'' from Rosenborg just because I liked him. I had no grasp of which players were good and which were not, since I couldn't really gage the difference between the Norwegian league and La Liga. Regardless, he ended up scoring an overhead kick in the first game I played, so for me he's always gonna be a legend.

I haven't played FM in a while, but I will never forget this moment in FM 12: Was managing the spanish team in the 2014 world cup and used a regen 18-year-old named Javier Perez as backup to David Villa. Was 2-1 up at the 88th minute in the semi-finals against Italy when we conceded a corner. Italy sent its GK forward to try and get the equaliser. My defenders got the ball out to substitute Javier Perez, who beat a defender at the halfway line and then shot at the open goal from just past the halfway line... And it went in. It was magical... I saved a copy of the replay video somewhere but I think I lost it when my old computer died.
I've since moved on to other things and I don't see myself playing FM anymore (I've lost most of my interest in Football as well). But this memory will always bring back nostalgia.

I'm currently playing as Sunderland in FM 15, and am about to say goodbye to my captain Shaun Kotcharian, A goalie that I signed from the Belgian league for 1.4 million 12 seasons ago. Guy should reach 500 appearances for the club by the time the season is over, and he has 104 caps for his national team as well. I would have loved for him to retire here, but at the age of 34 he wants to go finish his career back in Armenia in front of his people. It's a shame, because he is having the best season of his life. We're 27 games into the league and have only conceded 10 goals. Oh well. Will try to win the man his 4th Champions league on his way out.

Goncalo Manuel, what a regen he was in my FM22 save. Portuguese winger/central midfielder. I signed him for Stirling Albion in the Scottish Championship from Glentoran in season 3. Kept him for 2 seasons then sold him to Celtic for £1m. Loaned him back for the next 3 years before he moved to Chelsea for £60m (I saw none of that money because he was a Celtic player). I then bought him back off Chelsea 2 years after he joined for £35m. I never wanted to let him go and it was a fairytale ending when he lifted the Champions League in his return season.

I rejected and got him a new contract... Then he scored 43 goals in 36 premier league games and had 14 assists in all competition. Still has five star potential despite his growth, could very well take us all the way to winning the UCL if we have the right people around him.

Watching YT while playing is probably a universal experience lol. And one thing even more OCD than playing the same team every year: playing the same edition of FM for years, constantly starting new saves with the same team, because you got burnt out with the previous one. And just starting with the same players again, but trying new transfers, new newgens, etc. I must have started dozens of saves with Ajax in FM07, and in fact it's not very long ago that I managed the feat of winning the CL with them (and the Treble, for that matter) in the very first season of the save, 06/07.
Only recently did I spot FM24 on discount, and having not played any new FMs for over a decade, it's great to see how many new features have been added since then. When you make that kind of leap, you're less critical of the development of the game too (well OK, I could do without features like reading the same "tweets" over and over, and complimenting a player's training performance every week, but fair play to SI for putting that in lol).
The emergent narratives that develop throughout a save are probably what makes FM so addictive. Everyone has some story about some miraculous CL run, or just the whole journeyman's progress, or lower-league management for that matter.

Late to the party but the best Re-gen story I had was whilst at Spurs. Had a young LB in the youth team named Hayden Bannister, that I gave his debut too. Over 3 years he became a star player, club captain and even a regular for the England team. Voted into the team of the season during the season we under preformed All whilst being on 5'2. When I left (sacked) and joined VFL Bochum in Germany he was the first player I signed. Instant starter. I was listed as his only favourite staff member. Then he broke my heart by kicking up a fuss because Atletico Madrid came in for him and he wanted CL football. He left and of the six games they played before finishing 3rd he played something like 2. We won the Europa League.

I had a newgen on FM21 for Standard Liege called Ludovic Bouchez. He is one of the best midfielders I’ve had on the game. But the moment that truly made him an FM Hall of Fame player of mine was in season 5 in the champions league at the Nou Camp. 1-0 down and up steps this little 20 year old and slams one home from the edge of the box. Game ends 1-1 and Bouchez writes his name in standard liege folklore. I’ve got so many stories from that standard liege save. I might just have to re-download FM21 to have a look back. It was the most fun I’ve had playing a football game.

My best regen was Gérard Armand, a Frenchman. I signed him from Etoile Aussonnaise (Amateur French club) for free when I was manager of then Serie C club Virtus Verona. Loaned him out to Volos for our promotion season, then he had a combined 50 goal involvements over 2 seasons as we got promoted to Serie A. In his first season in Serie A (he was 20, by the way), he scored 15 goals and had 16 assists as we finished seventh. After that year we sold him to Real Madrid for £75 million. He went on to win the Ballon d'Or four times, the Champions League twice, the Nations League twice, the Euros (+ Golden Boot & Player of the Tournament) once and the World Cup once. In his final season before retirement, my Ingolstadt team faced off against his Real Madrid side in a Champions League Quarterfinal which Madrid won 3-2 on aggregate and in which Gérard provided an assist. They would go on to lose the final 1-0 to Atlético Madrid.
In his prime, the game valued him at £145 million.

I never played FM until right at the start of the pandemic, I used to see people play it at uni but never got the hype till I played it completely fell in love with the game and can never play FIFA career mode again, it’s amazing that I can take a small team create my own formation and discover hidden gems and take said team to glory. The best player I ever found was Alione Ndour was a unwanted striker not playing for his team came to me averaged 50 goals a season for 10 years and won countless African player of the year awards as I took Estrela Amadora in Portugal from the second league to multiple league titles and champions league titles

Current FM Mobile save… journeyman save, start from unemployed, grinded my way to coach Nice to dethrone PSG of the French title in 2028, thanks to my starboy striker Marcel van Lieshout. After doing the unthinkable of winning the French league, Milan offered me, so I had to bite. Took van Lieshout with me and after 2 consecutive invincible title wins, roughly 180 league goals across 5 seasons later, van Lieshout and myself are AC Milan legends, in the Italian football hall of fame… I love FM so much

Marcus Gadoye - An incredible defender I signed for £2000 as League 2 Stockport County in FM08, I say defender but for the next 6 years he was my top goalscorer with at least 20 goals every single season mainly due to his heading ability from corners, coupled with his composure, a pretty high finishing ability and most strangely his 18 free kick taking. He ended up staying with me and the club for the 15 seasons, had a tesitmonial, won FA Cups, League Cups, Champions Leagues and Premier Leagues...retired as a played, became my assistant manager and then when I finally left the club he took over as the manager and was never sacked. Absolutely beautiful stuff, he was weirdly from Turks and Caicos Islands as well, won well over 100 caps with them and I'm pretty sure won like 3 of them games.
As for 'real life' events one day I went to watch Stockport County (my team) in real life absolutely convinced we were playing Grimsby Town, absolutely CONVINCED, right up to getting in the stadium and noticing the Torquay United badge, why did I have the wrong team? Because Grimsby were my next game on FM.

I was manager of Atalanta over in Serie A on FM20. I had worked my way there over the last 10 seasons via Cambridge and Sheff Wednesday. Took over with the club in 10th and within 3 years we were title challengers, losing on the final day in a title-decider against Juventus. But we kept going, playing the most expansive and fluid 4-2-4 formation with overlapping wing backs. Two more 2nd places would follow, and then, finally, we got it done on the third attempt. Was almost setting flares off in my room. Have followed the team on social media ever since... magical.

Jim Stewart - I created a custom team in the national south and lost my striker to knee injury 10 or so games into the season. Got him on loan from FC Dallas minor league team. He ended up leading the league in goals and staying with the team. As we moved up I kept thinking he was tapped out and I’d end up having to replace him, but he just kept improving with the team. He was the only man left standing when I got to the premier. He was my second guy in a 2 striker set, but still, he went from emergency filler for a semi-pro club to starting forward on a premier champ. It was awesome. I got attached and I was legitimately sad when he retired lol.

I took Bromley from NLN to win every continental cup we could and dominated Europe. Tyrick Cumberbatch and Ronny Solskaer. Tyrick scored 500 and assisted 230 in the 800 games he played before he retired. Ronny was a dual threat winger. He scored 160 and assisted 160 in his 600 games. Since that match, I started following Colchester United more in real life and tried to dig in. I know all the players now! Followed every single one of them on Instagram. I kinda started supporting Colchester United in real life too! Colchester is currently fighting for relegation in the League Two. I am hoping they don't get relegated. I find this type of save suiting me most because of his dynamic. It can change REALLY. FREAKING. FAST. Right beside the "challenges" of rebulid from the earlier season. Especially in my beloved Brazil. Taking Cruzeiro, selling the whole relegated team and getting back to Libertadores in five seasons. Taking my beloved Fortaleza to my insanity (I really jealous of those who play in you clube of heart and don't descend to insanity. I respect you heart. It can derail really fast)...

I know this isnt that big of an achivment but i'd like to share it. I started a save with my club Partizan Belgrade and played it for 5 years and won 2 Europa Leagues, but the second one was an incredible story after playing in CL in a group with Barcelona and Man U i ended up 3rd after tying 4 of my games with them(hearthbreaking) but after winning next 2 stages i in the quarters i had to beat Napoli, the first game ended 1:1 and so did the second with Emre Can geting a red 10mins before the end, i started going all out attack in overtime in which Napoli had 2 players injured and i had 1 with no subs left. The match ended 1:1 with 8v10 players left on the pitch, after witch penalties went to 8:7 ending with Alex Meret missing his last one for me to move on. And in the semis i played Leverkusen after losing the first game at home 3:0, i went on to beat them 4:1 away with 3 goals coming in last 20mins all starting with a random cross witch was heading nowhere that Lafont didnt manage to catch and ball bounced from him to the net, i guess they got FMed. And in the Finals, the fairytale ending Dejan Joveljic who I signed from our biggest rivals as soon as i took over, and who i was thinking on selling scores the only goal to win the cup, i stoped playing after that as my pc was taking incredibly long to load, but i guess it was a perfect ending.

Then after some crazy manager moves, and juventus getting relegated from serie a, zidane went juve, klopp went to real madrid, so liverpool picked me up from bournemouth, where we came 1 game away from an unbeaten season only to lose 1-0 to chelsea on the final match day, we also lost the carabao cup to chelsea, and the fa cup, and the champions league final all to chelsea, i rage quit the save at that point and never came back to it, i still miss it to this day.
