    While the design has potential. And it's impressive.
    The amount of failures I'm seeing means improvements are needed for this to be ready for the big time.

    I’ve bought three visser no5 now and only one had no problems, other two were sent back to the seller. Production number 175 was no drag clicker sound. 188 was all good (so far) and 110 had webs on it when I opened it, the reel handle screw part was covered in rust and the spool was catching/binding as you turned it with your hand....It would go smooth,catch, smooth, catch and so on. Pretty disappointed in the company so far

I can find a ZeeBaas website, but it appears if they are available at all, it's on a custom made to order basis. Did ZeeBaas become Visser? The Visser reels look nothing like a ZeeBaas reel.

    While no bailed reel is perfect, I believe no bailed spinning reel is tougher than the VSB Van Staal. They have a German made INA instant anti reverse that has extra needle bearings for better instant anti reverse and the "cage" of the clutch bearing has a metal cage where most companies make them with nylon cages. So Van Staal really impressed me because no other companies seem to use German INA bearings in fishing reels. As far as I know, only the VSB has them?

    • @TackleAdvisors
      @TackleAdvisors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I tried to locate a hex clutch from Ina... To no avail. I forget. Is the vs a hex.. It's been so long

    • @hothmobile100
      @hothmobile100 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TackleAdvisors yes it's hex. You could try buying the Van Staal part number but I don't know the size. It's possible that only the VSB models have INA bearings. I bet the VR and even the new X series use either Koyo at best or a generic clutch bearing. But the INA by itself only cost 23 bucks from Van Staal. Second choice would be a Koyo made clutch bearing. I don't trust the Boca bearings because they won't tell me which factory in China makes them. Boca has good service but we consumers should not have to settle for anonymous Chinese factories when Japan and Germany makes bearings all the time.

    • @richardpowell2953
      @richardpowell2953 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TackleAdvisors I found the part number for you IF the INA clutch is instead Hex shaped. I'm not 100% it is. I know INA makes them both round and hex and I think the Van Staal VSB uses the hex shaped one but I'm not 100% sure. But the Van STaal Part number is VSB2090 - INA CLUTCH (item number 21-30272). It only costs 23 bucks.

      I do as well... But this is expected of his releases.. First runs have some issues... Once fixed they're the most bullet proof reels on the planet... When you're not a half a billion $$ company it's difficult to bring a spinning reel to market and have no issues at launch... Especially a cnc'ed reel... The issues were ball bearings and a simple adjustment to the clicker and a defect at the clutch.... I could have shit all over it... But the design is so excellent.

      Far better sealing (in a different league)What appears to be better gearing. Far lighter, better bail, and bail mech. Bail less option and Titanium spool lip that can take a hit on the rocks. Not a reel for everyone....but with the quirks worked out. A far better choice for full contact surf casting. Ie, swimming to rocks. Wading a few hundred yards out on the flats etc.

    • @alexanderforbes2126

      @@TackleAdvisors the only part of that I believe is lighter. God knows I wish my Slammer was on a bit of a diet. My 6000 is my big lure jetty and surf reel and has got some work done without a hiccup. I feel like many of the bench top qualities you say put it in a different league are only true if you don't factor in what to get per dollar spent. Of course that's just an opinion and not a knock on you at all.

  • @johnhall4427
    @johnhall4427 ปีที่แล้ว

    Except you would never have to worry about locking up this reel by installing the oscillation pin/post wrongly. Because the side covers just lifts straight off the side and are held on by the screws. And there's no anti reverse bearing in the main gear shaft handle area.
    Whereas the the older VS have the anti reverse in the handle. So if you miss the slot on oscillation install and start threading on the cover only to find you now cant unscrew the cover only to realise your screwed (coincidental pun). All due to main gear shaft anti reverse and ocilation pin bangin into sh%t inside. This is where Dr Hacksaw shows up!
