- Which is the best motorcycle chain lube? My earlier experience with Motul C1 chain lube, Liqui Moly synthetic chain lube and Wuerth chain lubricant spray were good. In this video I have used teflon based PTFE chain lube which is very different from the regular chain lube. The PTFE based dry type chain lubricant is from Putoline. This PTFE based drytec chain lube has got a non sticky nature but creeps well into the chain links and rollers. Teflon has got good heat resistant and water repelling properties which should help in keeping the chain well maintain. I personally observe reduction in noise chain from the chain with the Putoline drytec.

Much happy to lube with 90w oil.. Half ltr will last for atleast 6/7 months.. If know how much to lube and wipe out excess oil ,, need not worry about dirt !! Just the best cost n effective !!

Few days back I was cleaning my chain and it was a mess because someone borrowed my motorcycle and try to lubricate it with burnt engine oil.
As a result my rims, chain cover, number plate was covered with oil and dirt.

Using putoline dry tech and tech chain lube for almost 15000+ km now.
Both have never disappointed me ever, but I feel tech chain lube being ceramic if over applied damages the chain atleast in my case I had to replace chain set at 8000km.

he is absolutely right.... I used a can of putoline dry Tec, its amazing in terms of nvh, keeping the chain clean and everything... but when I used it in my previous long ride, I found that the lubrication wear off within 150 kms distance which is not good at all for touring... price is also on the expensive side...
When your apache drivetrain requires replacement use the golden one that comes with the bs6 version, it looks absolutely stunning when it is cleaned.
I've always cleaned, lubricated, and adjusted (if needed) my chain every 500 Miles. After 45,000 Miles I changed out the original chain and sprockets that came on my bike. If you take care of your chain it can last a very long time.

I use maxima chain wax on my bike chain. Just rest it for 10-15 minutes after applying. The best thing about maxima chain wax is it does not fling from the chain after drying. It stays on the chain and also does not attract dust very much. I clean and wax my bike's chain after every 500-600 km. It keeps the chain in good condition and noise free. BTW a good video.

On my fz25, I use only gear oil, 90grade.
Last chain cleaning I did after 9000kms.
Just lubing the chain lightly every 300-400kms is what I do.
First chain set lasted 27,000kms.
Now odo is 40k Kms, on the second chain.
Few cans of these premium chain lube can buy me a whole new set of chain & sprocket.
Even 'if' the chain lasts less than 15k Kms, still its cheap using gear oil.
So, unless using a middle weight motorcycle which chain costs over 15&20k, no point in using these expensive chain lubes.
But yes, each to their own.
Very good point. Gear oil is still a lot cheaper that those cans. I use an old toothbrush to apply it on the chains and the dirt just happens after a short ride and i’ll just wipe it off. Keeps the chain really quiet

The smoothest lube for motorcycle drive chain I've used is from polytron. The chain assembly works like a bell! Very expensive though!

Since my chain broke and flew out of the motorcycle because while replacing the chain the mechanic didn't link 🔗 it up properly, I sold the bike and bought a Burgman executive 650 and so much in peace, change gear ⚙️ oil once every 18,000 kms .

I use the Putoline Tech Chain variant that's actually costlier than the drytech.
But to be honest as our bhaiyya says , it's really really on the lower service life. I got around 150kms of effective lubricantion.

At the time of delivery during briefing I was told to use only shell octane 99 fuel 😁.
Few things I have encountered which I am not sure whether Bajaj service understood during my 1 service which I gave 2 days back and neither avaia online.
1. When ignition tuned ON nothing comes on display for few seconds (could see backlite bleed) and then in 4 to 5 seconds things get displayed and after that trip 1 and trip 2 automatically resets to 0 (happened twice in 40 days).
During Service: updated ecu and said problem would not come.
2. Saw rust inside silencer in 2 weeks time clocked around 200 km odo. I noticed other dominar during service which ran 15k km silencer was perfect.
Service : said it is common in all ktm and dominar but could not justify me why the 15k km did not have. Later they painted inside silencer using SPRAY CAN.
3. Moisture present inside headlight.
Service guy : common during rainy season and would go once bike heats up.
As per your experience are above things OK what was said by service officials or another drama by Bajaj. Unfortunately I am not happy with quality. While installing hazard flasher front assemble was not at all fixed properly. I should have made a video on it.

Chain wax review please
When I gave my bike to ASC guys, they applied a thick paste of grese on entire sprocket, chain and the chain guide. Due to this the mag wheel and the chain system became very dirty with in a day. I managed to clean the chain but couldn't reach the chain guide..
My question is:
Is it really required to apply grease to those parts? I am really confused if we can clean them and use oil stead to avoid ths chain and parts to becoming dirty.
do not use geese in chain and chain sprocket. Use chain lubes, And if you want something cost efficient or cheaper use gear oil as chain lube. use kerosin to clean the chain or you can buy chain cleaner as well but again that would be on the costlier side.
Hi Ashwin,
Grease is usually not recommended for open chains on motorcycles which are fast moving parts. Normal grease won't be able to stick to fast rotating part for long as the centrifugal force will try to throw it off from the links. This grease can further get deposited near front sprocket area which can cause resistance to chain movement and gearshifts.

Using wd40 was way better than some other vfm chain lubes.... please test that too....
I used kerosin for chain clean and d 90 or the gear oil(as for manufacturers recommend) for chain lube.its looks darty after sometime.but chain life will increase if you use gear oil for chain lube.i have a 220 and still run on stock chain and around 21k +.still no sound on the chain.

Of course you can. So long as it is their oil and not their other products. You can probably use goose fat, though the smell would be interesting.

Its a debatable topic; WD40 is more of a cleaner/degreaser than a proper lubricant 😊
