    I am using Kerosin oil and 80w90 gear oil by Shell. First i open my chain cover and sprocket cover one by one. Then I disassemble the chain and the front sprocket. Then I spray diesel onto the sprocket area and clean that using a small paint brush and wipe up all the dirt. Then I put the chain into a stainless steel pot (Gamli or Gamla whatever you can say) and clean it thoroughly multiple times using the same paint brush. Then I let the black oil drip and then I wipe off the excess Kerosin off the chain.
    Finally I install the chain and the sprocket and lube it using an oil can with the said Shell 80w90 gear oil. I have bought 5litres of the gear oil from Amazon. Finally I re install the chain covers.
    As you have mentioned, a clean chain always gives peace of mind.

    And during summer i use OKS lube which also does a decent job

    Totally agree! I left my bike (bs4 Duke 200) for 6 months due to hospitalisation, if it wasn't for the chain lube (Rolon, since my chain is also the same) i would have seen rusting in no time. The chain was shining like I left from service yesterday.
    I can't wait to try Addinol! I can see that you also are using Rolon, lemme know your experience with the combo

      Is the rolon chain sproket is better than stock? Im facing so much issues in my r15 v3 even after changing the chainset the noise still remains even after chain clean and lube from service center. Will this issue get resolved if get rolon chainset for my bike?

    • @saisriramakarthikeyakollur3989
      @saisriramakarthikeyakollur3989 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mayukhsharma8465 Rolon is definitely better than the stock sprocket set I had, even the gear shifts are smooth. I went with the steel alloy than the brass sprocket.
      I fit the sprocket myself within torque spec, took a days worth of effort.
      My riding conditions were mixed since the past 2 years. Mostly city runs within speed limits and occasional highway trips about 400km round.
      The trick to keep the chain noise low is to not ride like you stole it. Gradual acceleration, speed limits and tighten the chain tension and clean if needed every 200 km.
      My sprocket looks brand new with no shark fin wear. And my chain has since had some eventual expansion.
      I’ve put about 10k since writing this and I can say with confidence that rolon is far better than stock if take care of. I’m sure even the stock would last if taken proper care.

      @@saisriramakarthikeyakollur3989 thanks i do take care of my chain and i usually commute on my bike 70-80 kph with very less abrupt acceleration however the chain slags very early after lubing and tightening. Is the brass one better or the steel alloy one?

      @shonith91 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mayukhsharma8465 take a look at a few things before changing anything else.
      1. Lock plate on the front sprocket ( sometimes its worn).
      2. Alignment of the rear wheel on the swing arm.
      3. Guides for the chain (weardown).
      you will face problems if any of the above is not in order.

    I always remove the chain and submerge it in Kerosene and leave it a couple of hours to soak,I then use a small paint brush to deep clean the chain,i then soak it in petrol to remove any Kerosene and hang the chain up to drip dry,after
    throughly drying I then soak it in 30s engine oil and then let hang up again while the excess drips back into the container and then refit the chain. I made a bracket which I fixed to the frame with a piece of carpet under felt stuck to it and then lightly soaked it in engine oil and it lubricates the chain as it rubs against it,a few drips of oil once a week keeps the chain lightly lubricated without making a mess anywhere,it works wonders for the life of the chain and sprockets. I prefer a full chain guard but there rare these days so this is the next best thing.

In case of touring, I scrub the muck off with pressure wash, WD40, quick wipe and Würth again. 60k on odo with three sets of sprockets and chain (One set went bad due to COVID parking) it fairly did well considering it's a Bajaj AS200😂

    Don't waste your money on chain cleaner spray. You can use paraffin oil (sold as lamp oil) to great effect and it does not hurt the o-rings. Apply with a hard paintbrush, then wipe it off. I also go for a quick ride around the block to make it drip out. The front sprocket guard you can brush with undiluted dish soap, then rinse with water.

    Im tired of juggling with chain cleaners. So now i ask the washing guy to clean the chain with pressure washer and let it dry.. then i give a good coat with engine oil. Works just fine and is essentially free, just the lubrication interval has decreased, say from a 200 km interval for a chain lube to a 80 km interval for the used engine oil... Doing this from the past 20k something kms. Now im thinking of installing a engine oil dispenser for this purpose which will sit on the bike with its own reservoir and will squirt a bit of oil on the chain whenever i press a button.. Please let me know if any such kind of device exists or if ill have to make one.

    Here are my findings based on my experiment of riding my motorcycle every day , rain sun or snow , without ever lubricating the chain .
    Chain lube is a scam !
    Yes that is my opinion and here is why . As stated i ride every day , in the rain , snow and dust . My chain lasted for 9000 km . My tech told me that it should have lasted 20000 km if i lube it well .
    Wait , but if it last longer when lubed then surely you need to lube it ,so why am i saying that it is a scam ?
    Well because i did the maths on how much it would cost me to lube vs replacing it and here are the results .
    D.I.D 530vx chain and standard sprocket set 146 euro + half an hour of my life ( technically priceless but lets say 14 euro is how much an hour of my life is worth based on average base salaries ) ads up to 153 euro to change it once .
    Muck off all weather chain lube 400 ml 12 euro .
    Paraffin ,brushes and rags make up another 10 euro
    Half an hour of my life 12 times per year ( that is how often i would have to lube the chain to fit my riding) equals 168 euro (since a well lubed chain would last me for 2 years)
    in total a new chain and sprocket set + maintaining it would cost me 153+168 +10 + 72( 72 is for 6 cans of muck off all weather lube which i would need over the course of the chains life ,estimated 20000 km ,estimated 2 year at my current riding . 12 times per year at 100 ml per lube equals 3 cans per year and 6 cans for two years , 6 cans at 12 euro equals 72 euro) , bottom line for new chain and regular maintenance adds up to 403 euro .
    Now . In order to ride for about the same amount of time without any lube i would have to change my chain twice which adds up to 306 euro .Seems pretty equal 306 ~ 403 BUT WAIT , THERE IS MORE ! One has you on your knees every moth , scrubbing and wiping while the other has you riding all year and then changing the chain set
    AND THERE IS MORE STILL ! When i needed to change my chain , the part that was worn out was the front sprocket , i could have just replaced that and ran the same old chain and rear sprocket for at least another 5000 km before it all needed to go ..In conclusion , chain lube is a scam and i would only do it to a chain that wont be ran for a long period of time (like if you store your bike for the winter) so that it does not rust in place .
