For this video we plugged the AC3 guitar into a Roland AC-33 acoustic guitar amplifier. We added a little reverb and EQ, and ran it direct out of the amp into our mixer. We combined this direct signal with a Shure Beta 181 mic placed in front of the instrument. Some of the playing examples use either the pickup or mic exclusively.

I just tried this guitar today.. Gosh I think i'm in love. What a beautiful sound and great touch. I mean, I was looking for a Martin, saw this one and decided to give it a try. I've been blown away, couldn't leave it. Seriously thinking about buying one. Very very good and informative demo btw. Thanks for that !

Great presentation by Don. I've been playing mine now for almost a year. As if the SRT system doesn't give me enough to play with, I use a Radial Pz-Pre Tonebone in my signal chain for pure class A acoustic sound through a Bose L1 setup. The AC3R is now my main acoustic live and for recording. I grab it before my Taylor, Breedlove and Babicz acoustics. Maybe the novelty of the thing hasn't worn off yet, but damn .... the guitar just seems to get better. The neck is slippery fast right out of the box, but after playing it for a year now, I'm getting a bit of a sheen on the neck which makes it even faster to move around on. Crazy good instrument at a crazy good value.

Great review. I've been on the hunt for an all solid woods guitar that was the complete package for a while now. Of course Taylor and Martin offer some nice instruments but why pay the price tag when you can get top of the line tonewoods from the A3 series. Seriously you are going to pay 1500-2000 dollars for a Sitka spruce top, rosewood back and sides, and ebony fretboard as some of the A3 models boast. Great review and thanks for taking the time.

This guitar is beautiful and I love the acoustic sound. I think with the cheaper Taylors, this blows it out of the door. However, I have a Taylor 316ce and I think that guitar's Expression System gets a great sound with a lot of sweetness that this Yamaha with all its options doesn't get. However, you don't get that until you get to 300 series Taylors, and Yamaha is a lot cheaper. I plan on getting an AC3M to be my main stage guitar. :)

ive just bought the ac3m and for the money it punches way above its weight i think its competing with way more expensive guitars rather have this all solid wood guitar than a laminate taylor which costs alot more ,beautiful sounding guitar feels easy and smooth to play and the neck is lovely all solid wood with superb eq system , just wish i could play it as good as this lol,

In the same boat but stuck between this and the AC3M.
Based purely on what I've seen, and i've only been able to do research on the A-Series, sadly.
I have played a Taylor 214ce extensively recently though, and I would go for this one. It's solid wood, it's got one of the best pick up systems for an acoustic I have heard in any price range, and you're not paying that $500 price tag for the letters on the headstock.
Any advice for me on this guitar though? What you thought?
    Thanks man

Do the AC3R and the AC1R share the exact same neck profile??

I've done a ton of research and spoken to various luthiers in my local area. I hate to tell you that you are wrong. The consensus is that about 80-90% of your sound will improve with a solid wood top. However if you want the best and pull that extra 10-20% out of the instrument over time you have to go with solid tonewoods. Furthermore the TYPE of tonewoods DOES make a huge difference and all you have to do to prove it is play a flamed maple guitar vs a rosewood.

The Yamaha is all solid, the Taylor has only a solid top. The STR-System is way better with a lot more options and a fine tuner. The Yamaha comes with a case, the Taylor with a gigbag. In my honest opinion... you´ll get a lot more guitar and sound with the Yamaha.

I would rather get this than the taylor 214 ce the taylor 214 ce it s not solid wood its laminate its almost 1000 .oo also it was made in mexico the electronics it not acoustic sound its more of a electric sound ;) This guitar sounds like a Martin with aura solid wood that cost 3000,00

this was 7 months ago, so it doesnt matter any more, but you know the fact that it is a laminate has ZERO effect on the sound. the sides could be made out of cardboard as a professional luthier told me. Plus laminate is stronger that solidwood and doest crack like solid wood does. Im buying a taylor 214 beacause its laminate, the guitar sounds amazing as well feels great.
