, in New York, fleeing from a police officer in a motor vehicle after being ordered to stop is a class D felony in the first degree, which is the most serious felony of its kind. A conviction for this offense can result in up to seven years in prison, a substantial fine, and a five-year probation term. A felony conviction on your record can also cause problems later in life, such as when applying for jobs and other opportunities.

I work in law enforcement. I also have a badge. I VASTLY outrank any officer who will pull me over for a traffic stop. But GUESS WHAT?! I always pull over. I place my car in park, get as far off the side of the road as I'm able to safely do so, roll down ALL the windows, turn on ALL the interior lights, and patiently wait with either both hands on the top of the steering wheel, or one hand completely out the window and the other on top of the wheel. I wait for the officer to speak, I provide all the necessary documentation, and I apologize for the infraction. If I'm given a ticket, I sign if appropriate and ask any pertinent questions, then tell the officer to please stay safe, and say goodbye. I've been pulled over dozens of times. I've received my fair share of tickets. I've NEVER phoned any members of police leadership, even though I have their numbers, I've never treated the officer's poorly, and I've never badged anyone unless they have specifically asked if I work in law enforcement and asked to see my credentials. If I did what this woman did, I'd be terminated. She should be terminated. You can't serve a community if you don't believe the laws apply to you too.
Appreciate the comment. I had a question. Why do you roll all your windows down? I also don't understand why she didn't stop. I've had plenty of interactions with law enforcement. Each one was professional. Some even listened to my situation and let me off with a warning. If she had stopped, the officer could have used his discretion and given her a warning right?
@@TheNewCarryTrade I roll my windows down for a few reasons: 1. I used to have some pretty aggressive tint. Rolling the windows down gives a good view inside for the officer as they're approaching, since traffic stops are THE MOST deadly encounter an officer will have, and getting ambushed from someone in the back seat is a real concern. 2. It allows for better overall visibility for me to see the officer's approach, and to see potential hazards behind and to my own side. 3. Back when I had tint, it made writing me a ticket for it slightly less likely ;) Officers can usually use their discretion, but some departments have policies on the nature of the discretion, based on what senior leadership is looking to accomplish. For example, you can't use discretion to drop a DUI on the spot, if they're drunk they're drunk. I doubt anyone would receive discretion for going 20 over, especially in a 35, since that's the speed limit in most of the villages in western new york. in other words, she was driving highway speed through a place where people walk their dogs, kids play, with shops and schools and residential homes lining the street.
@@drewwellington9337 That makes a lot of sense...Thanks for taking the time to reply...I never saw the equation from the officer's perspective until my cousin was stabbed over 15 times while conducting a completely routine traffic stop. After that he told me to do basically what you mentioned and to put your hands on the steering wheel or out the window so it's clear that you don't have a weapon. Turn on your dome light if it's dark...and never go rooting through the glove box until the officer asks you for the documents. Honestly, when I do this, I seem to have much better outcomes in a traffic stop situation.
She felony fled the scene, fled from the officer. The officer did not immediately arrest her because he knew who she was and her authority as a DA, the officer allowed her to take total control of the situation, and became willing to accept her disobedience of all his commands and accepted all her perverted verbal abuse towards him, then the officer became more subservient to her, obeying her commands to call his police chief and other higher ups to excuse her behavior and actions. So now the police department has become more subservient to her by just handing her a warning ticket. This is nothing but a whitewash performance form A to Z from the police department and the DA. Heads must roll.
Shame on her. As "THE DA"She holds people accountable for their crimes no matter how petty she thinks this is she should hold herself at a higher standard. She should at least be demoted to ADA

He tried to do his job but the supervisor over ruled him He should be fired also. Not the policeman. That is why she called the chief. The officer was trying to do his job as stated.
Don't give them the option to resign...TERMINATE I've seen the entire video: Unprofessional, Uncalled for, Entitlement at it's worst. Not even a lapse in judgement, since she downward spiraled throughout the entire interaction & was aware of her actions when the Officer was attempting to pull her over.
In her Apology video she referred to her "stupidity"----The real word would be "Arrogance". Terrible corruption here. Only the cronies in the club get a pass. Her prosecutions need to be reviewed. .and she needs to be fired. The police department is just as bad----giving her special treatment.

If that's the case, she should know what she did was wrong and even more so wrong that she brung her freakin position up during the stop.
The officer who pulled her over should arrest her.
I wouldn't doubt if she had been drinking and took/hid the bottle inside of her home.
Exactly
So many in these positions are neurotic and miserable. They hide behind the illusion of status/success and absurd drugs and alcohol to "feel" okay.
Salute to the police for not being biased! For that “ THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY” should be fired from her job because she used her “I’M THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY” to intimidate that poor cop who was just doing his job!
🔥 Doorley is a disgrace and should be fired.
@@TheNewCarryTrade I roll my windows down for a few reasons:
3. Back when I had tint, it made writing me a ticket for it slightly less likely ;)
Officers can usually use their discretion, but some departments have policies on the nature of the discretion, based on what senior leadership is looking to accomplish.
“Do you know who I am?!? I enforce the laws, however, I don’t have to follow them”.
The entitlement. 🙄
She called the chief, asserted she's The DA to use her position of power. Now she's just erroding trust further. Just pull over, accept the ticket, pay it or make it disappear quietly.
Are politicians are corrupt from the bottom up
She should have been arrested and booked. Not let go
Two justice systems in America!!!
She should be fired for abusing her powerful position
She needs to resign!
Both the cop and DA should be fired. The DA thinking she’s above the law and the Cop not doing his job.
He tried to do his job but the supervisor over ruled him
He should be fired also. Not the policeman. That is why she called the chief. The officer was trying to do his job as stated.
The warning at the end was uncalled for. You either give a warning or a ticket not both.
Don't give them the option to resign...TERMINATE
I've seen the entire video: Unprofessional, Uncalled for, Entitlement at it's worst.
Not even a lapse in judgement, since she downward spiraled throughout the entire interaction & was aware of her actions when the Officer was attempting to pull her over.
Let us know when she’s fired…
Don’t you love the smug look when she says…ok, I will be prosecuting her own case. Ohhh yeahhhh she wasn’t using her position… Right, Karen!
She’s a LIAR, she called the chief of police to intimidate that cop! That’s abuse of power right there!
I know what her pronouns are. One begins with a B ends with h. And the other begins with C and ends with T.
Can't Understand Normal Thinking
She absolutely intended to use her position. Everything she did was an attempt to use her position!
In her Apology video she referred to her "stupidity"----The real word would be "Arrogance". Terrible corruption here. Only the cronies in the club get a pass. Her prosecutions need to be reviewed. .and she needs to be fired. The police department is just as bad----giving her special treatment.
