The flaking is probably due to mixing the white cream/lotion with the gel (after it dries). Try it with a less opaque lotion or conditioner. Also try mixing the two in Ur palm to see if it becomes clear or leave a whitish residue-a sign that it will flake. Oops! I commented before I saw the annotation. (LOL)

Ive wanted this gel since I first saw it advertised. The shine and definition is crazy! And I like that there's lots of movement and hair doesn't look like a helmet.
