Putting too much weight over the rear of the trailer will make it less stabile. I have one skid that has to load backwards otherwise the trailer is dancing on the freeway. But, they should probably bag it, or find a flat deck trailer for the machine.
If you look at the location of the axkes on the trailer, he most likely should drove on forward with skid steer. More of the issue would be the skid steer wheelie when pulling forward on the trailer.@renegader4life
It's all about your equipment and how it's set up. I have 90 7.3idi. I grossed over 20,000# from Cincinnati to Charlotte area. Everything was balanced absolutely perfect and pulled like a dream and was set up to stop too. Not the fastest trip through the mountains.

Don’t know what state you in but here in Ohio a 350 single wheel has a GVRW of 11,000 - 11,800 unless de rated. And a trailer with 8k axles so 16k unless De rated. That trailer hooked to that truck you need a CDL. Doesn’t matter if it loaded or not. It all about the stickers nothing else. Now with a load then it’s fines if over loaded.
@Six7Strokin Your 💯 correct, most people don't understand the details and a lot of States if you're trailer is over 10,001 lbs you need a CDL.Nj is one of those states.
Yep Ohio is 26,001 this is why I have a F-250 with 16k trailer I can carry on with business as usual and not be bothered with CDL and all the hoops you must jump thru with insurances. The reason the dually isn’t in the drive any more is because I leaned the hard way.
When you are loaded that heavy is the rear axle touching the timbrens that would give you that bounce. I don't think by the numbers you are overloaded but you might need some weight distribution bars, carry some of the weight to the front axles.
I really hate how Ford gate keeps the 7.3 unless you pay almost 10 grand for it by forcing you to get the overpriced STX option before then allowing you to spec the 7.3 but you can get the psd on the base model XL no problem. I'm perfectly fine with an XL with the chrome bumper and grill the tech package and the 7.3 gas with the better 10r140 instead of the 10r100 that you get on the 6.8.

We always load the excavator or CTL the other way. That dump trailer does seem short though. We put the load on the trailer wheels just a little tongue weight. You'll know as soon as your rolling up to speed. I know the tremor lights up the tail lights based on tongue weight...

It doesn't matter about balances; it matters what the rating is. If you're going to pull 10000 lbs or more, you need a CDL. FMCSA CFR 383 states: Any person who drives a motor vehicle combination having a gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight of 26,001 pounds or more must possess a valid Class A driver license if the gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight of the vehicle being towed is more than 10,000 pounds. You have been lucky, but you are in Michigan, and they do things differently. Still, it's a federal requirement, not a state one. Come down here in Florida and get caught, and you'll get put out of service. Fact.
@@renegader4life Yes. That is a thing in Michigan. If your trailer is less than 10001 you don't need CDL, and be over 26000. So hypothetically, A f550 gvwr of 16500 + a 10000 lbs trailer would be over 26001, but not CDL because the trailer is less than 10,000

If you’re worried about tongue weight, why is the skid steer backed onto the trailer….
They likely used the bucket to assist loading it into the trailer.

I don’t know why anybody that would have a truck like that would not have a gooseneck set up
That particular set up is absolutely classic B. If you need to put a plow on the front. Should be a hint your overloaded
Air bags. And a weight distribution hitch is money well spent. Curious to see the longevity of the 7.3. I have seen the 6.2 last over 400k.
I drive to 450, everyone says it's underloaded. I got the 350. Everyone says it's overloaded. Can't make everybody happy!

Michigans magic number is 26,001 for a cdl on gcvwr. Direct for DOT themselves.
In Illinois you need a class C license to pull over 10k trailer. If the combo exceeds 26k, you need a Class A CDL. No way around it.

Air bags make it night and day. I first put them on my 2015 6.2 loved the ride with load. Bought my 2024 7.3 first thing I added was air bags

Put on a pintle hitch instead of a ball. Carry a pair of ramps and spin the skid steer around.

I got news for you if your truck and trailer weight is over 10k you have to have a cdl again that combination weight
Just put the RTs on my Godzilla today!
Crew cab with an 8 ft bed would do a bit better because of the longer wheelbase
Sure just add more weight to help with towing 😂
Use a weight distributing hitch.
Think you are overloaded for that gear ratio. Should be 3.73 or 4.10 with gaser
4.30 gear is the highest rated gear

The GVWR of the trailer necessitates a CDL to be legal.
Truck and trailer combined determines whether it falls under CDL category. Or if the actual weight is over 26,000 and 1 lb.

Might as well do yourself a favor and take that snow plow and that salt spreader out because you don’t even use it 10 times a year
You need a class b cdl if the trailer is rated for over 10,000 lbs.
