I wouldnt say Sigurd is the first to focus on a non sword weapons. Like yes he "can" use Lance's but like you'll like not use em more than a handful of enemies, plus the first 2 chapters of his are entirely axe/bow units. If anything I'd give Celica the honor of being the first non sword focused Lord as she'll be using magic much more often than her sword

To be fair, I guess, he did say "first to -start- without using swords". I haven't played most of these FE games so I'm not expert on the topic at all but at the very least I'm going by what was in the video, so I guess that's still possible to be off.

@@phantasmstg6125 he does tho. Like he starts with a steal sword and iron lance and on the very first chapter, gets a silver sword that youll basically exclusively use for the entire game. He's not a lance lord, he's a sword Lord that has the option to use a lance if you really want to

While Roy's most canon mother is Ninian, that wouldn't make him 1/2 Manakete, but rather 1/4 Manakete as Ninian, and Nils by extension, themselves are half-manakete (Her mother Aenir was a Manakete and Nergal was human). A more accurate example in the same game would be Sophia who has the same heritage as Ninian (though we have no canon reason why she can't transform)

On Seliph's Awakening art: all DLC character art features the character drawn as the class they appear as in Awakening, with Marth being the exception as the Lodestar class is exclusive to him. So Seliph appears as a swordmaster in art because he is recruited as a swordmaster in-game.

Sigurd does technically have access to lances on start, but his sword rank is much higher, he's given a silver sword to serve as his main weapon, and his PRF weapon is Tyrfing, a sword.
He's also not the only pre-promoted lord, since Elincia (who totally should be on this list) starts RD in the Queen class. Or if you count her in PoR, she starts as Princess Crimea, also a pre-promote.

While it is true that Sigurd is definitely encouraged to use swords over lances, I think you're understating the value of his B lance rank--You receive the Brave Lance in Chapter 2, right when you start encountering enemies that actually don't just get effortlessly one-rounded by base Sigurd using the Silver Sword, and while the game is clearly encouraging you to keep it on Finn and finally have another unit start one-rounding people, the fact of the matter is that Sigurd is the strongest Brave Lance user in the generation and letting him use it to oneround even promoted armor units is a straight up strong strategy. If it weren't for the fact that Seliph won't be able to inherit it and use it to carry his poor base combat through the Chapter 6 grind, it would probably be one of his most widely used builds.

Actually, Eirika's usage of a rapier is notable because she's one of the few characters in fiction that does it *right.* Rapiers are not supposed to be used in slashing motions, they are supposed to be used to puncture the opponent, they are an stabbing weapon.
Also, they are a class of weapon only used by the elite (like royalty and anybody else on said level), that's why only Eirika and Marth start the game with them.

    • @matthewkuscienko4616
      @matthewkuscienko4616 17 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

I agree with this sentiment, and will try to come up with a fact for each of them.
*Xander, despite being known for being a nearly unstoppable unit in battle in terms of lore, is weaker when you fight him in chapter 26 of Birthright. This is because he wants to be killed after accidentally killing Elise.
*Camilla is nearly swayed into believing Corrin during chapter 13 of Birthright (if memory serves), and is only kept from being convinced because of Leo's words.
*Speaking of Leo, he is the only Nohrian royal to not have the wyvern rider line as part of his normal class set; he instead has to obtain it via an S support with Beruka.
*Elise is the only royal that you are not forced to fight if you play the route she doesn't join, and she even accompanies the party for a few chapters, albeit not as a playable character.
*Despite Ryoma being associated with lobsters due to the design of his armor, he's actually supposed to have a lion motif: his hair resembles a lion's mane, and the mask he wears, when given to another character as an accessory, is called a lion mask.
*Hinoka was the last royal to be added to the game, and as such has less story significance than the other royals do.
*Despite not having the class as part of his normal class set, Takami originally trained to be a samurai -- this is referenced in his supports with Hana, of whom was an old sparring partner of his (and it's partly implied that he gave up on swordmanship because she beat him badly after becoming Sakura's retainer), and Hinata's supports with Corrin bring this up as well, being Hinata's motivation to train with a sword. Additionally, Takami is the only character to have a unique model for a class that isn't a part of his normal class set, with his swordmaster model being based off of Sumeragi.
*Sakura is the only royal to have a starting weapon rank of E, other than Corrin and Azura. This is likely because she's playable before the route split for more than one chapter, being the only royal from Hoshido or Nohr to have this distinction

I have to disagree with you saying sigurd focuses on lances, I guess you got that idea from engage (or heroes? Idk I don’t play either game) but if you play fe4 you will quickly realize that this is not the case. Not only does sigurd start with only a sword in his inventory but he is handed a shiny new silver sword on top of it in the prologue chapter. Adding to this his weapon ranks and lineage clearly paint him as a sword user, while he has B in lances he has a star rank in swords (which is kind of like an S rank from later games) meaning he can use every generic sword in the game as well as his own legendary Tyrfing, one of three holy swords in the game.
That said sigurd does like using lances because contrary to popular belief they are good weapons in gen 1 with sigurd in particular really appreciating the javelin which you can build crit on.

Elincia absolutely is a lord. She's a major character through almost all of Path of Radiance, she has a unique class and game-over if she dies, and in Radiant Dawn, she gets a fresh new unique class and is the second tier 3 unit to be playable (the first being the Black Knight). She's even the protagonist for part 2, although the perspective does bounce around a little, so she's only playable for the prologue and endgame.
