This is great, thanks. Everything up and running. The only thing I noticed, is that if you have a separate VRTables folder, DOF Will not work and I don't think you can have a second instance of B2S back glass server. I could be wrong.
Just a word of caution, i discovered this morning that vpx and vpx vr 10.8 beta 5 may not work well with some older tables. I have seen some crashing and lagged gameply. Many newer tables like sponge bob requires 10.5 beta 5 to play, and the new features are awesome, and these tables play really nicely. However, older tables may not run so well. So consider the vpx vr 10.7 to play it safe till 10.8 is officially released.
@@chipgt81 Thanks. It seems like I saw something in the discord one day about how the old VR tables needed certain updates to use the new stuff. I use 10.8 beta 64bit as an alt launcher. It's been no problem thus far. I love the new playfield options. I also have 10.8 GL for stereoscopic 3D glasses. It looks pretty good! Definitely better than the non GL versions I had tried before.
It's not your fault obviously, but this is one of the most ridiculously complicated things I've ever seen. The creators of this software really ought to streamline the installation process and instructions. Almost all of this stuff could be automated with the proper packaging
I install it on quest 3 tonigh. The must bugging stuff for me at least is the resolution. It is not enough clear IMO. But your video was great to start with this and see that it finally (rarely :) ) not so complicate to run the VR version.

@mikewhost5447 you do not have to be online. In the video, I am using a keyboard, but that's because I'm using my test pc rather than my cabinet. You can use cabinet buttons and your cabinet. However, depending on your gpu and system, it may be a good idea to turn off a monitor on your cab.
Can you use VR with a tricked out vpin cabinet with solenoids, DOF speakers,, etc? What I mean is, can the exact sane video you were just seeing also be sent to the cabinet, so you can combine the best of both worlds? The tactile features (real analog plunger, real buttons, dof sound, (MOST IMPORTANTLY!!) analog nudging, etc) of the cabinet with the 3D visuals of the VR headset (bystanders would see the same game on the cabinet that you are seeing and playing in the headset, except of course in 2D)
From my experience, the playfield is a representation of what the player sees in the headset. The backbox, dmd, dof, and lights will work like in cabinet mode. SSF can be used, but normally, the headset takes over the audio.

Great tutorials, thanks! !I'm a veteran with VPinball/Future Pinball, and have been running successfully in VR Rooms and Hybrids, but for the life of me, I can't get pup packs to work in VR. It's been a week of trying every freaking suggestion, and nothing works. I have one monitor and I use a dummy hdmi plug for a fake monitor #2 (you need this for Future Pinball Pup tables from Terry Red). All the correct options are checked, but my pups always land on the monitor, but not in VR. Any ideas?
@JCatNY is using external backglass is checked in vr options? My cabinet uses three monitors and displays pups. I can hook up my quest 3 to the cabinet launch vpxgl and the pups display in vr and on my cabinet. If it still isn't working, it could be your gpu. I have a gtx 3050 on my test rig and amd 6500 in my cabinet. The 6500 struggles with more than 3 monitors, and I have to turn off the dmd and backglass monitors off to get it to work. Leave them connected just turn them off. If none of that works it may be a setting in the software or software version you are using. Try a reinstall of the software or an earlier. Build. I'm still rocking the 10.8 beta 5 build in my cabinet. When testing later builds, I lose features like color dmds and pup packs. Hope this helps.
I have a virtual pinball cabinet and I run pinup popper on that. I have a Quest 2 .. if I decide to try popper on VR should I create a separate area on my hard drive (maybe a different hard drive) for the VR popper so I don’t mess my settings up for my cabinet ?
@ronreed3235 it's always a good idea to separate instances of software if you are unsure what will happen. For example, I have my hard drive partitioned on my cabinet. One is the main that I normally run, and the other is experimental. Where I change settings and try new things. If you don't have the room on the hard drive to try this the make a backup of your vr folder on an external drive. I also primarily use vr pinball at my desk now rather than my cabinet, two separate machines. If I remember correctly, popper vr has a toggle to switch from normal popper to vr. I recommend setting up a partition and only using one version of popper experiment with it till you have the setting you like and know work. Just make sure you have a backup just in case, or a way to test new ideas that you can go back to default if needed.
When I try to play in VR it displays the game in 2d in the bottom left corner of the headset. Anyone have any idea what I did wrong? Using the reverb G2 and VPX 10.8.0 beta 8
@SOCIALCREDITSCOREOVER Make sure steam vr is running properly in you headset first. If not it's a compatibility issue with your headset. If it is make sure you are running the gl version of the vpx software. 10.8.xgl.exe Not 10.8.x.exe. that is more than likely your issues if not try running an earlier version of the software like beta 5.

Later, release you loose various features like color dmds or vr support or the require betas of pinup popper and other software. I will test out the next canadate release when it drops and do an update video if it works with all three modes I play in.
Actually, yes, you may be able to. I is pretty recent, but there is now a tool that allows you to use your VR controllers to emulate gamepads or virtual steering wheels to control non VR games. I haven't tried it myself yet, and it costs $30 on Steam. I'm looking for an alternative, but if you want to give it a try, you can get it here. I'm sry to bother you but there's not much info out there. I have tables that work great...but others that have no table call outs. No ball sounds. No soundtrack or background music and sound. I have tried opening coin door and adjusting volume...doesn't work. I have tried vpx gl audio settings...both audio are at 100 no difference. I'm lost. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it. Ty in advance
@wanab1082 Some tables like iron maiden required you to buy the sound tracks from Amazon and put the files in a folder. When downloading a table, look at the read me file, If one is provided, there may be some steps or pup packs you need to download. Next, check the script for audio settings and vr settings. You may need to select a setting. If the settings are there, it will look like 0 = off, 1 = 8bit sound, 2 = pup pack. You may see something like that. Most tables should have callouts working unless the tables are on the newer side. Some creators will release an incomplete table, hoping someone with an audio background will help them complete it. The fact that you have working tables tells me it's not a software issue and that, more than likely, it's a table setting or the table is incomplete. You can verify this in the media library for sound. if it is empty, then there are no callouts. On vp universe, you can generally tell if a table is good by the number of people who have downloaded it, the team that worked it, and the comments from people who have played it. There are a lot of tables that are in work or incomplete. The last thing it could be is a mixup of software versions. I am still rocking vpx 10.8 beta 5 with the latest popper and freezy dmd release. Not the bata palooza build. Or the release canadates they each have their own issues for vr use.
I'm struggling to get the 64 bit version to work. Usually the error comes up about needing the "Controller" object since the installation isn't complete. I successfully got 10.8.0 32 bit running in VR for Ali by using my Baller Installer setup that I had started with 10.7 32 bit and was upgraded to 10.7.3 Minimal 32 bit. The 10.8.0 GL version for 32 bit seems run on top of that fine for me. Struggling to find an initial setup/patch to get 64 bit working since apparently I've been playing tables in 32 bit for some time now!
I'll have to take a look into that. I did see in the forums that people were having issues with 10.8. Maybe that's why I can't get popper vr to work with option 1
Great video. I got it working yesterday and went straight to Addams Family Pinball (my all time favorite) and could not get it to work lol. I wonder if there is a way to use the quest controllers to bind the flipper and nudge? That would make it out of this world.
as of right now I'm not aware of the quest controllers working for it, I agree that would be awesome. There may be a way to connect them to your pc via blue tooth and use hand controls while in the quest software. Then using xbox 360 to keyboard you may be able to map the controller... getting VPX VR to work is more about your boot order than anything else. Connect the headset, restart the quest so it has a fresh restart, launch Oculus, launch steam vr, popper, o key - Popper vr switch, launch table. Addams vr if you have never run it will require you to set some options prior to launch. Fester, cuz it, thing's box, bear rug and so on. Also I have been working with vpx 10.8.6 beta and there is several issues I have noticed with .pal files not working, screen locking on exit of a table, and many more. There will defiantly be a version 7 beta... try rolling back to vpx 10.8.5. if you installed vpx vr 10.8.6. Let me know if that works for you.
Can you do a follow-up video now that the launcher has been updated? I'm on 4.90 and having a lot of difficulty just navigating through the user interface etc. Thanks if you can help :)
In my test pc, I have a Gforce 3060ti. In my pincab I'm using an AMD Radeon 6650. They are about the same performance wise. The amd may have a slight leg up on the nvidea.
@wanab1082 By default, the number pad 5 is recenter it will recenter to where you are looking so make sure you are looking forward when you press it. Num pad 8 should move the table up, and num pad 2 goes down. The num pad is a different key from normal number keys. If your keyboard has a num pad, make sure the num lock is on. Then hit num pad 5. If that doesn't work or you dont have a num pad, make sure your key binding is set to the key you want for vr recenter, bump up, and down. The key binding for the vr movements are located in a different option menu under vr options, not the normal keys binding page.
Maybe a dumb question... I was assuming you controlled vpx with the oculus controllers once you launched the table. It looks like you're using the keyboard. I'm pretty sure I can recognize the shift keys ok to work the flippers, but isn't it hard to correctly find the credits and start key blind?
What headset are you using? What connection type are you using? (Heaset to pc). What version of vpx vr are you using? The key is that your headset must work with Steam Vr.
Depending on your hardware and how many displays your gpu can support at one time. It really doesn't matter how baller is set up. I use mine with my 3 monitor cabinet and on a seperate test pc with one monitor. If you are going to use a cabinet, you may want to power off the dmd and backbox monitors when using vr for better performance. You will just need to play with settings to see what works best for you.
So on quest 3 in vr, how do I get puppacks to install correctly? Big trouble little china for example - I have it working, but the videos are only showing on my PC monitor, and not in the headset. Thanks if you can help :)
First check to make sure it works on another confirmed vr room puppack like the one I show. It's the same install that you would do with non vr. However, not every table is configured for vr. Check the script for rv room settings. If there aren't any, then it won't work without you building it yourself the vr room yourself. It's about a 4 hour process. I have a video on how to build a vr room in my vpx vr series. That or search for a version of the table in vr. They can be hard to find. I recommend the table spreadsheet tool on vp universe. If there are settings, make sure the two checkboxes for external backglass and dmd are set. Check this video at the 24:30 marker.
Not every table is configured to work in VR. I've had the best luck with tables that have the vr room in the name. I'm currently working on a video that shows how to get a non-configured table set up as this is the biggest question I get. Hopefully, it will be good to go for next friday.

It could be a few things, but i suspect it is a combination of different software versions. What version of vpx and Popper and dmd are you running? I haven't been using the batapaloza baller installer. I recommend vpx version 10.8 beta 5 no higher till issues are resolved. This may trip an error stating the game was built on a later version. Just save the table for version 10.8 beta 5, and that will go away. You can install the latest popper and dmd software. This is probably the issue. Also try disableing the color dmd check box and only check puppacks to troubleshoot what may be causing the issue. Then switch the check boxes. This will let you know what software is giving you a hard time could be both. Let me k ow if this helps.

@clementrousseau9431 Not all tables are configured for V/R. I have had the best results with ones that say vr room in the title. You can use the spreadsheet tool on vp universes to find the table you want and filter all tables to see the ones that work in vr. Some tables will have script options for vr, and you will need to check. Just to make sure it's not a software issue, let's troubleshoot with the avitar table i know works for me. Launch the table. Press num pad 5 to center. 5 key to coin in, 1 to start, enter to launch ball, left/ right shift for flipper. Or whatever you may have set your keys to. You should be able to see the pup pack running. Alt color dmd you may need to press F1 and enable color dmd. If not let me know what it says, and we will continue troubleshooting.
Hello, and thank you for the great tutorial! The issue I'm having is some stutter using my Quest 3. The game seems to be flowing fine, but I am getting a bunch of choppiness, and at one point saw the scoreboard going bonkers, as if it was trying to tear itself away from the backglass. Any ideas what I should be doing to help with this? I have an RTX 3070, which should be a fine machine to run this on.
@adrianoparrotta I used airlink over my my wifi for a week and experienced similar issues. If you are using your wifi router, make sure the connection is 5Ghz. Also, make sure it is set to dynamic. And the slider is to the right. Keep in mind the flow of traffic that is happening and the amount of information between all the software and hardware. It won't be perfect. For a more stable connection, you can try the wifi bridge. I have not tried this due to cost. I have had the most success with a wired connection. Sometimes, there is blackout along the edges as I move my head, but it is rock solid. Also the cables are not as expensive as the bridge. See the video links for the cables I use. If you want to try it.
Great Video. But sadly struggeling. I have setup VPX for Desktop first and want now to use Quest 3. But my selectable max. resolution in VPX is 1920x1080 (I guess because monitor is just FHD). How can I chnge that to 4K for my Quest3?
Yes, you can use a mapped game pad or keyboard emulator like x360. This issue with the touch controllers is that they connect to the headset first. Then, through the headset to the pc. You may be able to use the steam controller software to map to a keyboard button. I will need to look I to this though.
Man if I can't use my VR controllers I can't see this being very immersive on my Vive. I wanted to really feel like I was slapping the machine with motion controls on my wands
Is it possible to change an environment from a black void to GREEN? With virtual display i think it would be pretty cool to bring a table in mixed reality through passthrough. if i find a color my table doesnt have i should be able to achieve this
Are you talking about a non configured vr room table, the black nothingness? If so, yes. You can create a basic two wall, floor and ceiling vr room and under textures make them whatever color you want. Instead of using the pictures, you can create a material that is whatever color you want and apply it to the walls. Even for a table that has vr, you can create a new vr option called a green room or something to make that work. Unfortunately, you would need to do this for every table you want. Maybe a 30 min job per table once you know what you're doing.
@@chipgt81 Thank you for the candid response. If you want to try this, Virtual Desktop has a passthrough option you can turn on by selecting a color to mask which allows the mixed reality gameplay.
that's what I WILL do once I figure out the basic room thing it's pretty in depth , would have to dedicate an afternoon to figure it out unless you'd be interested in making a room. I'd say getting a sphere mesh with a material color variable would make the most sense
@chipgt81 But there is an app someone else made that lets you see your hands in mixed reality on pc by having hot pink orbs track on your hands and that can then be masked out to allow the pass-through

Baller installer comes with 2. This was really helpful. However, I'm getting this error when opening tables: "Object required: "controller"". I've got about 15 tables, and the only one that doesnt have this error and runs is the Deadpool one. It says "you need the controller.vbs to run this package". I've checked and the controller vbs is in the script folder already
What version of vpx vr are you using. As of this time i only recommend v10.8 beta 5. What are you using as your button controller? (X360, pinscape board, keyboard). Make sure its configured right in vpx vr under inputs.
@@chipgt81 I'm using 10.8 beta 5. Im using a keyboard and that's already configured in preferences > Configure keys, nudge etc. . Setup was as follows: 1. Baller install. 2. Baller update 3. VPX install. Have I missed anything?

What headset are you using? It may be a boundary, or it could be your positioning. If positioning uses a keyboard with a number pad, make sure the num lock is enabled and hit the number pad 5. If that doesn't fix it it try resetting the boundary.
Yes, you're correct. A slight slip on my part that i should have caught in review. The important part is using a 3.2 usb port on your pc if you have one and a cable that can do up 2.5 to 5 Gbps. Otherwise, your experience will not be great. Most usb type c charging cords will not work.
How do you get your new folder for VR to use its own ini file so that you can have different settings from your normal cabinet? When I make changes to my copied visual pinball folder I’m using for VR it changes my cabinet instance too.
@@chipgt81graphic settings mostly. I get a lot of stutter using an oculus 3. I have an i7, 32gb of ram and a new RTX 4070. It’s plenty to run 4k at 120hz on my cabinet but I think the overhead of oculus and steam apps is hurting performance.
Adding a little bit more detail to my post. I am getting a lot of ball stutter on the VPW tables in VR. I turned off reflections and VR Prevew and checked force bloom filter off. Occasionally it will be smooth but as soon as flashers or multiball start it’s choppy.
@@chipgt81I lowered down to 72hz and it improved a little. I’m still confused my system can’t do 90hz. It feels like it could be a vsync issue. I’m fairly experienced too, been doing vpin for 5 years now.
Some tables don't support v/r very well. What table are you having issues with? Check the table script for table name and version, and see if it has options for v/r if not. Try using an external b2s file. There are settings in vpx vr for using external backglass, and dmd makes sure those are checked. I'm currently traveling for work. I'll message you again when I'm back in the hotel for the actual setting location.
I downloaded the Backglass for the Witcher and made the vr setup how you did in your tutorial, but I dont have a Backglass and the scores shown on the right of the table, when I drop alt/tab I see the scores on a second page, when I now go back to the vr options the scale of the table changed.
At this point, there is no official support to use them. The connect through Bluetooth to the headset, then from headset to pc. There are way that they could potentially work, but I have not tested them as they cost money, and it's not well supported. You can use an Xbox controller, though.
It depends on the mic quality. I have a cheep one. I don't get paid for the content I make. Davinci resolve has features like gain levels, noise reduction, and so on. It is a tweaking game with free software, I will work on getting a better setup in the future. If you would like to contribute to a better setup, I have a Twitch account, and tips would help. This is great, thanks. Everything up and running. The only thing I noticed, is that if you have a separate VRTables folder, DOF Will not work and I don't think you can have a second instance of B2S back glass server. I could be wrong.

Just a word of caution, i discovered this morning that vpx and vpx vr 10.8 beta 5 may not work well with some older tables. I have seen some crashing and lagged gameply. Many newer tables like sponge bob requires 10.5 beta 5 to play, and the new features are awesome, and these tables play really nicely. However, older tables may not run so well. So consider the vpx vr 10.7 to play it safe till 10.8 is officially released.
@@chipgt81 Thanks. It seems like I saw something in the discord one day about how the old VR tables needed certain updates to use the new stuff. I use 10.8 beta 64bit as an alt launcher. It's been no problem thus far. I love the new playfield options. I also have 10.8 GL for stereoscopic 3D glasses. It looks pretty good! Definitely better than the non GL versions I had tried before.

It's not your fault obviously, but this is one of the most ridiculously complicated things I've ever seen. The creators of this software really ought to streamline the installation process and instructions. Almost all of this stuff could be automated with the proper packaging

I install it on quest 3 tonigh. The must bugging stuff for me at least is the resolution. It is not enough clear IMO. But your video was great to start with this and see that it finally (rarely :) ) not so complicate to run the VR version.

@mikewhost5447 you do not have to be online. In the video, I am using a keyboard, but that's because I'm using my test pc rather than my cabinet. You can use cabinet buttons and your cabinet. However, depending on your gpu and system, it may be a good idea to turn off a monitor on your cab.
Can you use VR with a tricked out vpin cabinet with solenoids, DOF speakers,, etc? What I mean is, can the exact sane video you were just seeing also be sent to the cabinet, so you can combine the best of both worlds? The tactile features (real analog plunger, real buttons, dof sound, (MOST IMPORTANTLY!!) analog nudging, etc) of the cabinet with the 3D visuals of the VR headset (bystanders would see the same game on the cabinet that you are seeing and playing in the headset, except of course in 2D)
From my experience, the playfield is a representation of what the player sees in the headset. The backbox, dmd, dof, and lights will work like in cabinet mode. SSF can be used, but normally, the headset takes over the audio.

Great tutorials, thanks! !I'm a veteran with VPinball/Future Pinball, and have been running successfully in VR Rooms and Hybrids, but for the life of me, I can't get pup packs to work in VR. It's been a week of trying every freaking suggestion, and nothing works. I have one monitor and I use a dummy hdmi plug for a fake monitor #2 (you need this for Future Pinball Pup tables from Terry Red). All the correct options are checked, but my pups always land on the monitor, but not in VR. Any ideas?
@JCatNY is using external backglass is checked in vr options? My cabinet uses three monitors and displays pups. I can hook up my quest 3 to the cabinet launch vpxgl and the pups display in vr and on my cabinet. If it still isn't working, it could be your gpu. I have a gtx 3050 on my test rig and amd 6500 in my cabinet. The 6500 struggles with more than 3 monitors, and I have to turn off the dmd and backglass monitors off to get it to work. Leave them connected just turn them off. If none of that works it may be a setting in the software or software version you are using. Try a reinstall of the software or an earlier. Build. I'm still rocking the 10.8 beta 5 build in my cabinet. When testing later builds, I lose features like color dmds and pup packs. Hope this helps.
I have a virtual pinball cabinet and I run pinup popper on that. I have a Quest 2 .. if I decide to try popper on VR should I create a separate area on my hard drive (maybe a different hard drive) for the VR popper so I don’t mess my settings up for my cabinet ?
@ronreed3235 it's always a good idea to separate instances of software if you are unsure what will happen. For example, I have my hard drive partitioned on my cabinet. One is the main that I normally run, and the other is experimental. Where I change settings and try new things. If you don't have the room on the hard drive to try this the make a backup of your vr folder on an external drive. I also primarily use vr pinball at my desk now rather than my cabinet, two separate machines. If I remember correctly, popper vr has a toggle to switch from normal popper to vr. I recommend setting up a partition and only using one version of popper experiment with it till you have the setting you like and know work. Just make sure you have a backup just in case, or a way to test new ideas that you can go back to default if needed.
When I try to play in VR it displays the game in 2d in the bottom left corner of the headset. Anyone have any idea what I did wrong? Using the reverb G2 and VPX 10.8.0 beta 8
@SOCIALCREDITSCOREOVER Make sure steam vr is running properly in you headset first. If not it's a compatibility issue with your headset. If it is make sure you are running the gl version of the vpx software. 10.8.xgl.exe Not 10.8.x.exe. that is more than likely your issues if not try running an earlier version of the software like beta 5.

Later, release you loose various features like color dmds or vr support or the require betas of pinup popper and other software. I will test out the next canadate release when it drops and do an update video if it works with all three modes I play in.

Actually, yes, you may be able to. I is pretty recent, but there is now a tool that allows you to use your VR controllers to emulate gamepads or virtual steering wheels to control non VR games. I haven't tried it myself yet, and it costs $30 on Steam. I'm looking for an alternative, but if you want to give it a try, you can get it here. I'm sry to bother you but there's not much info out there. I have tables that work great...but others that have no table call outs. No ball sounds. No soundtrack or background music and sound. I have tried opening coin door and adjusting volume...doesn't work.
I have tried vpx gl audio settings...both audio are at 100 no difference. I'm lost. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it. Ty in advance
@wanab1082 Some tables like iron maiden required you to buy the sound tracks from Amazon and put the files in a folder. When downloading a table, look at the read me file, If one is provided, there may be some steps or pup packs you need to download.
Next, check the script for audio settings and vr settings. You may need to select a setting. If the settings are there, it will look like 0 = off, 1 = 8bit sound, 2 = pup pack. You may see something like that.
Most tables should have callouts working unless the tables are on the newer side. Some creators will release an incomplete table, hoping someone with an audio background will help them complete it.
The fact that you have working tables tells me it's not a software issue and that, more than likely, it's a table setting or the table is incomplete. You can verify this in the media library for sound. if it is empty, then there are no callouts. On vp universe, you can generally tell if a table is good by the number of people who have downloaded it, the team that worked it, and the comments from people who have played it. There are a lot of tables that are in work or incomplete.
The last thing it could be is a mixup of software versions. I am still rocking vpx 10.8 beta 5 with the latest popper and freezy dmd release. Not the bata palooza build. Or the release canadates they each have their own issues for vr use.
I'm struggling to get the 64 bit version to work. Usually the error comes up about needing the "Controller" object since the installation isn't complete.
I successfully got 10.8.0 32 bit running in VR for Ali by using my Baller Installer setup that I had started with 10.7 32 bit and was upgraded to 10.7.3 Minimal 32 bit. The 10.8.0 GL version for 32 bit seems run on top of that fine for me.
Struggling to find an initial setup/patch to get 64 bit working since apparently I've been playing tables in 32 bit for some time now!
I'll have to take a look into that. I did see in the forums that people were having issues with 10.8. Maybe that's why I can't get popper vr to work with option 1

Great video. I got it working yesterday and went straight to Addams Family Pinball (my all time favorite) and could not get it to work lol. I wonder if there is a way to use the quest controllers to bind the flipper and nudge? That would make it out of this world.
as of right now I'm not aware of the quest controllers working for it, I agree that would be awesome. There may be a way to connect them to your pc via blue tooth and use hand controls while in the quest software. Then using xbox 360 to keyboard you may be able to map the controller...
getting VPX VR to work is more about your boot order than anything else. Connect the headset, restart the quest so it has a fresh restart, launch Oculus, launch steam vr, popper, o key - Popper vr switch, launch table.
Addams vr if you have never run it will require you to set some options prior to launch. Fester, cuz it, thing's box, bear rug and so on.
Also I have been working with vpx 10.8.6 beta and there is several issues I have noticed with .pal files not working, screen locking on exit of a table, and many more. There will defiantly be a version 7 beta... try rolling back to vpx 10.8.5. if you installed vpx vr 10.8.6.

What graphics card are you using?
In my test pc, I have a Gforce 3060ti. In my pincab I'm using an AMD Radeon 6650. They are about the same performance wise. The amd may have a slight leg up on the nvidea.

@wanab1082 By default, the number pad 5 is recenter it will recenter to where you are looking so make sure you are looking forward when you press it. Num pad 8 should move the table up, and num pad 2 goes down. The num pad is a different key from normal number keys. If your keyboard has a num pad, make sure the num lock is on. Then hit num pad 5. If that doesn't work or you dont have a num pad, make sure your key binding is set to the key you want for vr recenter, bump up, and down. The key binding for the vr movements are located in a different option menu under vr options, not the normal keys binding page.

Maybe a dumb question... I was assuming you controlled vpx with the oculus controllers once you launched the table. It looks like you're using the keyboard. I'm pretty sure I can recognize the shift keys ok to work the flippers, but isn't it hard to correctly find the credits and start key blind?

Yep. See min marker 24:32. There are two check boxes for color dmd and pup packs. If it isn't working for you move your b2s file to a different file.

What headset are you using? What connection type are you using? (Heaset to pc). What version of vpx vr are you using? The key is that your headset must work with Steam Vr.

Depending on your hardware and how many displays your gpu can support at one time. It really doesn't matter how baller is set up. I use mine with my 3 monitor cabinet and on a seperate test pc with one monitor. If you are going to use a cabinet, you may want to power off the dmd and backbox monitors when using vr for better performance. You will just need to play with settings to see what works best for you.
So on quest 3 in vr, how do I get puppacks to install correctly? Big trouble little china for example - I have it working, but the videos are only showing on my PC monitor, and not in the headset. Thanks if you can help :)
First check to make sure it works on another confirmed vr room puppack like the one I show.
It's the same install that you would do with non vr. However, not every table is configured for vr. Check the script for rv room settings. If there aren't any, then it won't work without you building it yourself the vr room yourself. It's about a 4 hour process. I have a video on how to build a vr room in my vpx vr series. That or search for a version of the table in vr. They can be hard to find. I recommend the table spreadsheet tool on vp universe.
If there are settings, make sure the two checkboxes for external backglass and dmd are set. Check this video at the 24:30 marker.
I got it working on my oculus quest 2, but the DMD is not showing up in VR. I see it running on my desktop, but I only have the playing field on my VR
Not every table is configured to work in VR. I've had the best luck with tables that have the vr room in the name. I'm currently working on a video that shows how to get a non-configured table set up as this is the biggest question I get. Hopefully, it will be good to go for next friday.

The vr controllers will sadly not work at this time. You can use keyboard keys, or an Xbox controller, you and controller that works with vpx.

It could be a few things, but i suspect it is a combination of different software versions. What version of vpx and Popper and dmd are you running? I haven't been using the batapaloza baller installer. I recommend vpx version 10.8 beta 5 no higher till issues are resolved. This may trip an error stating the game was built on a later version. Just save the table for version 10.8 beta 5, and that will go away.
You can install the latest popper and dmd software. This is probably the issue.
Also try disableing the color dmd check box and only check puppacks to troubleshoot what may be causing the issue. Then switch the check boxes. This will let you know what software is giving you a hard time could be both.

Not all tables are configured for V/R. I have had the best results with ones that say vr room in the title. You can use the spreadsheet tool on vp universes to find the table you want and filter all tables to see the ones that work in vr. Some tables will have script options for vr, and you will need to check.

Connect your headset, open steam, launch steam vr, Open vpxgl make sure you have both check boxes enabled for external dmd and backglass.
Launch the table. Press num pad 5 to center. 5 key to coin in, 1 to start, enter to launch ball, left/ right shift for flipper.
Or whatever you may have set your keys to. You should be able to see the pup pack running. Alt color dmd you may need to press F1 and enable color dmd.
If not let me know what it says, and we will continue troubleshooting.
Hello, and thank you for the great tutorial! The issue I'm having is some stutter using my Quest 3. The game seems to be flowing fine, but I am getting a bunch of choppiness, and at one point saw the scoreboard going bonkers, as if it was trying to tear itself away from the backglass. Any ideas what I should be doing to help with this? I have an RTX 3070, which should be a fine machine to run this on.

@adrianoparrotta I used airlink over my my wifi for a week and experienced similar issues. If you are using your wifi router, make sure the connection is 5Ghz. Also, make sure it is set to dynamic. And the slider is to the right. Keep in mind the flow of traffic that is happening and the amount of information between all the software and hardware. It won't be perfect. For a more stable connection, you can try the wifi bridge. I have not tried this due to cost. I have had the most success with a wired connection. Sometimes, there is blackout along the edges as I move my head, but it is rock solid. Also the cables are not as expensive as the bridge. See the video links for the cables I use. If you want to try it.
Great Video. But sadly struggeling. I have setup VPX for Desktop first and want now to use Quest 3. But my selectable max. resolution in VPX is 1920x1080 (I guess because monitor is just FHD). How can I chnge that to 4K for my Quest3?
Check video/graphics in vpx gl. Window checked, Aspect ratio 16:9 landscape. Width 2556 height 1440. View mode desktop and fss

Instead of keyboard you can use gamepad correct? Could u then use emulate gamepad with the touch controllers when using virtual desktop?
Yes, you can use a mapped game pad or keyboard emulator like x360. This issue with the touch controllers is that they connect to the headset first. Then, through the headset to the pc. You may be able to use the steam controller software to map to a keyboard button. I will need to look I to this though.
Man if I can't use my VR controllers I can't see this being very immersive on my Vive. I wanted to really feel like I was slapping the machine with motion controls on my wands
@guidosaur7506 yeah it is a bummer. There is fx pinball has an app for vr but it is based on fx3 and you have to rebuild all your tables.
Is it possible to change an environment from a black void to GREEN? With virtual display i think it would be pretty cool to bring a table in mixed reality through passthrough. if i find a color my table doesnt have i should be able to achieve this
Are you talking about a non configured vr room table, the black nothingness? If so, yes. You can create a basic two wall, floor and ceiling vr room and under textures make them whatever color you want. All you would need is the walls, really. Instead of using the pictures, you can create a material that is whatever color you want and apply it to the walls.
Even for a table that has vr, you can create a new vr option called a green room or something to make that work. Unfortunately, you would need to do this for every table you want.

@@chipgt81 Thank you for the candid response. If you want to try this, Virtual Desktop has a passthrough option you can turn on by selecting a color to mask which allows the mixed reality gameplay.

that's what I WILL do once I figure out the basic room thing it's pretty in depth , would have to dedicate an afternoon to figure it out unless you'd be interested in making a room. I'd say getting a sphere mesh with a material color variable would make the most sense
@chipgt81 But there is an app someone else made that lets you see your hands in mixed reality on pc by having hot pink orbs track on your hands and that can then be masked out to allow the pass-through

First start with the baller installer make sure you can run a table. Baller installer comes with 2.

for alt color load the table not in popper but in VPX and press F1 a window will pop up select use color dmd. there is another box for alt sound you can change that from 0 to 1 to run our alt sound files. then hit ok. a message will tell you to reload the table hit q two times and then relaunch the table. The alt audio and color dmd should now work. Move the color dmd where you want and right lick and save for this table.

This was really helpful. However, I'm getting this error when opening tables: "Object required: "controller"". I've got about 15 tables, and the only one that doesnt have this error and runs is the Deadpool one. It says "you need the controller.vbs to run this package". I've checked and the controller vbs is in the script folder already
What version of vpx vr are you using. As of this time i only recommend v10.8 beta 5. What are you using as your button controller? (X360, pinscape board, keyboard). Make sure its configured right in vpx vr under inputs.
@@chipgt81 I'm using 10.8 beta 5. Im using a keyboard and that's already configured in preferences > Configure keys, nudge etc. . Setup was as follows: 1. Baller install. 2. Baller update 3. VPX install. Have I missed anything?

Hey man o can get my table to play but it has no textures around it’s just grey everywhere the lights works and the game actually plays tho.
What headset are you using? It may be a boundary, or it could be your positioning. If positioning uses a keyboard with a number pad, make sure the num lock is enabled and hit the number pad 5. If that doesn't fix it it try resetting the boundary.

Gigabits per second NOT gigabytes. Lower case Gb is gigabit. Uppercase GB is gigabytes.. 2700 Gbps is only 337 gigabytes per second
Yes, you're correct. A slight slip on my part that i should have caught in review. The important part is using a 3.2 usb port on your pc if you have one and a cable that can do up 2.5 to 5 Gbps. Otherwise, your experience will not be great. Most usb type c charging cords will not work.

How do you get your new folder for VR to use its own ini file so that you can have different settings from your normal cabinet? When I make changes to my copied visual pinball folder I’m using for VR it changes my cabinet instance too.
What do you want changed between your folders? Dmd location, or something else?
@@chipgt81graphic settings mostly. I get a lot of stutter using an oculus 3. I have an i7, 32gb of ram and a new RTX 4070. It’s plenty to run 4k at 120hz on my cabinet but I think the overhead of oculus and steam apps is hurting performance.
Adding a little bit more detail to my post. I am getting a lot of ball stutter on the VPW tables in VR. I turned off reflections and VR Prevew and checked force bloom filter off. Occasionally it will be smooth but as soon as flashers or multiball start it’s choppy.

@@chipgt81I lowered down to 72hz and it improved a little. I’m still confused my system can’t do 90hz. It feels like it could be a vsync issue. I’m fairly experienced too, been doing vpin for 5 years now.
I can not see the backglass by playing in vr, what is wrong in my setup? I use the Quest 3, too.

Some tables don't support v/r very well. What table are you having issues with? Check the table script for table name and version, and see if it has options for v/r if not. Try using an external b2s file. There are settings in vpx vr for using external backglass, and dmd makes sure those are checked. I'm currently traveling for work. I'll message you again when I'm back in the hotel for the actual setting location.
I downloaded the Backglass for the Witcher and made the vr setup how you did in your tutorial, but I dont have a Backglass and the scores shown on the right of the table, when I drop alt/tab I see the scores on a second page, when I now go back to the vr options the scale of the table changed.
I find out there are vr rooms for tables like the witcher or terminator 2, tomorrow I will try 😎

Hello, do the Oculus controllers work to play with VPX?
At this point, there is no official support to use them. The connect through Bluetooth to the headset, then from headset to pc. There are way that they could potentially work, but I have not tested them as they cost money, and it's not well supported. You can use an Xbox controller, though.

It depends on the mic quality. I have a cheep one. I don't get paid for the content I make. Davinci resolve has features like gain levels, noise reduction, and so on. It is a tweaking game with free software, I will work on getting a better setup in the future. If you would like to contribute to a better setup, I have a Twitch account, and tips would help.
