This movie, when Tony kicks butt without the suit, deserves a callback when he eventually tells Peter "If you're nothing without the suit you shouldn't have it. "

Honestly never thought about that and that’s a great point. I always took it as a callback to when cap says “take off the suit and what are you.” Which tbh Tony saying that to Peter basically is also a callback. Man I love these movies

    • @steelvader1852
      @steelvader1852 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

@@Wlof25 Well the development is more in how they choose to act, not necessarily they're beliefs and personalities. Captain America does the right thing despite the government but he does so by rebelling against the accords and higher authority, something he usually has never done. Also, we see that Steve actually did the wrong thing by with-holding the truth about Tony's parents out of trying to protect him. And at the end of the movie, Steve admits he is wrong for his action. Tony is still egotistical and doesn't give Steve's thoughts a chance however he still comes from good intentions. He wanted ultimate government control, yet in the past he was all about going against the government and doing what he wants. This directly contrasts with Steve's change. They basically flip flop except Steve isn't a prick and Tony doesn't stop being a prick. Black Panther starts the movie seeking vengeance for his father and by the end of the movie learns forgiveness and acceptance for loss. This directly contrasts with Zemo's way of dealing with loss: revenge. With Bucky, he starts gaining more control over his mind than he had before in winter soldier. He also represents the consequences of your past that stay with you the rest of your life. You also have the beginning of Tony having a greater sense of responsibility and leadership through his recruiting of Spider-Man. And you can see that Steve sticks by his friend's side despite the horrible things he did and seems to take Bucky's side over the Avengers'. There's plenty more that I could go on about but yeah there's a bunch of development in that movie.

@@Wlof25 I see massive development for the future but ok. And by the logic you’re arguing, you see any plot as “plot device”. Plot device and plot aren’t the same thing. To say that everything in the movie is a plot device to move things forward is literally the definition of plot. There aren’t a bunch of plot devices that make specific things happen necessarily though. It’s just a story being told. Maybe it’s coincidence that Zemo just had footage of the starks being killed sure it the explosion happening but I mean they’re telling a story with events. Of course things happen in the movie to progress the story. That’s what a plot is. You can argue that Caps shield is a plot device because he uses it to fight and progress the story but then everything in the movie is a “plot device”

If you want a bit of a breakdown of all of Tony's suits in this movie, I've got you covered. It's a bit of a read, but if you want to look any of them up, this should help. He has a suit for every occasion. He was building them because he didn't ever want to be caught off guard in a situation he can't handle.
He has some that are super fast (Mark 19 Tiger, Mark 31 Piston, Mark 40 Shotgun and Mark 41 Bones) These are mainly used for high velocity traveling or fighting where he needs to get to and stay at super high speeds.
There are some that have heavier physical capabilities making them a lot stronger than a normal Iron Man suit. (Punches and such) The Marks 25, 34, 35 and 38, Striker, Southpaw, Red Snapper and Igor fall into this category.
He has several Stealth suits (Mark 15, 16, and 18 (Sneaky, Nightclub, and Casanova respectively) as well as Mark 27, Disco (which is known as a "Chameleon suit", and can camouflage into it's surroundings)
There are several suits that put out extra power such as Blue Steel (Mark 30) which has enhanced repulsors and had more power for using those repulsors than a normal suit. There's a long distance flight suit (Mark 20, Python) which has more power supplied to it's flight boosters. Heartbreaker (Mark 17) also has advanced repulsor tech. It has an enlarged reactor core which it uses to fire massive chest beams. Tank, the Mark 24 and Romeo, the Mark 32 armor also have this feature. Tank is built to take a lot of damage and can create a repulsor shield for protection. (I'm assuming it's the same type of shield we see Tony use against Thanos' Power Stone in Infinity War.)
He has several suits that can survive in space/underwater/high altitudes with extra oxygen built into the suits. (The Marks 21, and 39. Midas, and Starboost are meant for high altitudes and space, and the Mark 37, Hammerhead is meant for deep dives under the ocean. It can fully submerge itself without shorting out.)
The Mark 23 (Shades) is a suit that can resist extreme heat. Striker; the Mark 25 (a construction armor), and Gamma, The Mark 26; can resist electricity as well as Gamma radiation. The Mark 28, Jack, also protects against large amounts of radiation.
The one you see with the hidden blades in the wrists is called "Silver Centurion". It's the Mark 33 armor.
There are more, but these are some of the Marks 6-41 that we see in the House party scene.
Side note, the one that falls apart all the time; the one that Tony can control without having to be inside it; is the Mark 42 armor. It's known as Tony's "Extremis Armor" in the MCU.
    **SPOILERS AHEAD FOR FUTURE MOVIES!!**
The Nanotech suit is Mark 85. That means that Tony has made at least 85 suits over the years. The Mark 85 was his strongest, fastest, and safest suit ever made.
Also also, there have been 7 versions of the War Machine armor. The War Machine Mark 1 is just the Iron Man Mark 2. It's used only as a War Machine suit in Iron Man 2. The Mark 2 shows up for the first time as the Iron Patriot in Iron Man 3. It shows back up in Age of Ultron with it's standard back and silver paint job. The Mark 3 is used in Civil War, which was destroyed by Vision hitting the arc reactor. (Tony, I'm flying dead stick!). It's the only suit to have a baton style weapon. It's officially called a "War Hammer".
The Mark 4 was used in Infinity War and was crushed when Thanos used the Space stone to crush it with Rhodey inside. It was the first War Machine suit to feature a fully collapsible helmet like Tony's and Peter's suits. (It doesn't just open up, but it collapses all the way back into the back of the suit.) In the original Infinity War script, Rhodey was going to have PTSD from his fall in Civil War and was going to pilot the suit remotely from the Avenger's Compound. It was going to get destroyed while fighting the Black Order in Scotland. He would then replace the suit with the Mark 5 for the battle of Wakanda. The script was changed so Rhodey never fights in Scotland, and they used the Mark 4 for the Wakanda battle. As a result, we never get to see the Mark 5 in any of the movies.
The Mark 6 is used by Rhodey in End Game while he's travelling around the world looking for Clint and helping with problems around the world after the snap. It gets destroyed when the Avengers compound gets blown up by Thanos' gunship. (Canopy canopy canopy) It looks closer to the Marks 1-3 armors, where the 4, 5, and 7 armors are significantly more bulky and durable.
And finally he has the Mark 7, which he gets into after his Mark 6 is crushed by the building. He emerges with Rocket on his shoulder after Giant Man pulls them out of the rubble of the building. It's color scheme is a lot like the Iron Patriot design. The Marks 4 and 7 are my personal favourites.

I think it's fair to say Stark has a big ego. But for Stark, his ego is not necessarily bad as it has helped in many of his heroic decisions. Everyone likes to point out ego like it's the worst thing, but most of the greatest technological advancements were made because egotistical people believed they were better than everyone else in their field and aimed for what was impossible at the time. Ego can actually be very good for highly intelligent people that have a moral compass or someone they love that can ground them, and Stark has both.

I honestly love Iron Man 3. It's one of my favorite MCU movies and wayyy too underrated. The special thing about it is that Tony has to deal with personal conflicts with himself and his whole life, he can't use his high tech billionaire stuff to solve his problems which makes the whole movie even more interesting. The main antagonist of this movie is not the mandarin, it's Tony himself because he has to deal with many problems which are there because of his private life and his life as Iron Man colliding to each other. I don't think that we ever got so much Tony Stark in an MCU movie before. Great movie!

    *Jen's MCU Reviews/Rankings:*
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    - *Iron Man* = Good start to MCU. First 30 mins were 'ugh', good humour, love Stark. *(Not rated)*
    - *Hulk* = CGI sucked. Overall good, predictable, not top quality, wouldn't see again. Loved Stark's cameo. *6.5/10*
    - *Iron Man 2* = Not as good as 1st. Really good, Stark great, CGI amazing. Cheadle good, prefers Howard. Black Widow is meh. *7.5/10*
    - *Thor* = Really enjoyed it a lot, more than first thought. In love with Natalie Portman. Heimdall favourite character. Liked better than Iron Man? *(Not rated)*
    - *Captain America: TFA* = Cap didn't really do it for her. Liked Peggy, liked Cap's character in general. Red Skull entertaining. Felt flat. No character growth for Cap. *6.5/10*
    - *The Avengers* = Hawkeye and Black Widow growing on her. Loki is great villain, empathizes with him. Likes Cap more here. Heartbroken by Coulson. Hulk CGI better, Norton slightly better? Thor not enough spotlight. Should've solidified team earlier on. Juicy post credits. *8.5/10*
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    - *Iron Man 3* = Possibly better than 1st and 2nd. Liked seeing his relationships with Pepper and Happy. Loved villains. Loved Stark without suit. Liked Pepper saving herself. Kid was hilarious. *8.5/10*
    *Order:*
Avengers, Iron Man 3, Thor, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Captain America, Hulk
    *My Opinion:*
Iron Man 3 is severely underrated. Great score. Liked dynamic with kid. Liked seeing him have to figure everything out without the suit. Liked final fight and switching suits. Realistic development of PTSD after first encounter with aliens and war. They shoulda explored it a little more imo however.

In the original draft of the movie, Maya, the ex-girlfriend, was supposed to be the main villain, like in the comics. In the Extremis storyline, Killian was just a minor character whose death kicks off the main story. The reason why Killian is the main villain in the movie is because the producers didn’t think a female villain would sell a lot of toys. I don’t remember ever seeing any Aldrich Killian action figures at toy stores, so that change was pointless. Guy Pearce was still awesome though.

This is my favorite Iron Man movie by a mile. The PTSD(even if muted focus), Ben Kingsley, Killian's arc and intelligence, showing more of Tony Stark minus the armor, his connection and growth with Happy, Pepper, and the kid, and Rhodie.
Also Tony says he fixed Pepper in the epilogue voice over.

I love this movie too. If not for the Mandarin "twist", this would be my favorite Iron Man movie for all of the reasons mentioned by Jen. Even with the Mandarin twist, I still like Iron Man 3 more than Iron Man 2. I also believe they should have focused a little more on Tony Stark's PTSD.

In the dialogue at the end when Tony is talking he mentions that he got Pepper sorted out. Sort of a throw away line to just give closure on the fact that she won't be walking around possibly blowing up in the future.

    • @CaptainFrost32
      @CaptainFrost32 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Antwannnn As far as the quality of the NetFlix Defenders show, I cannot say because i never had the service.
I also am not commenting on the future of Disney+, as I don't have that pay service.
I did have ABC and watched every episode of both Agent Carter and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Both shows are tied more obviously to the movies. These are good shows. Season 1 Agent Carter is tied into Endgame. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fills in the background between Iron Man 3 and Disney+.
I am not asking for them to watch all 7 seasons of S.H.I.E.L.D. and both seasons of Carter before anything else. I am saying that all of the pieces are in place that you know the context going in.
      136 episodes of A.O.S.
      18 episodes of Agent Carter
      154 episodes ABC
      39 episodes of Daredevil
      26 episodes of Luke Cage
      39 episodes of Jessica Jones
      23 episodes of Iron Fist
      8 episodes of Defenders
      135 episodes NetFlix
      9 episodes of Wanda/Vision
6 episodes of The Falcon & Winter Soldier
No need to be salty because Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had more episodes than all NetFlix shows combined and had been given the greenlight for additional seasons.
Hopefully, the NetFlix actors will be able to return to production under Disney's future plans.

Shows like wandavision and the falcon and the winter soldier are essential mcu viewing though, as they fully impact the films and play important factors into the larger mcu.

@@jaysunleblanc3680 My point is that I do not recommend beginning Agents of SHIELD until you have reached Iron Man 3. Season 1 of Agent Carter should be watched before Endgame.
I like both series and I will always recommend them to any viewer of the MCU. I do not have streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, or Disney+. I never recommend a show that I have not watched, simple as that.
I have enjoyed Marvel since I was young. TV shows, TV movies, cartoons, comic books, roleplaying games, every Marvel movie before and beside the MCU.
The thing is that these two shows [Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD] were Disney+ before Disney+. The showrunners could have continued making more seasons, but chose to end at 7.
Since you are PAYING for Disney+, binge it when you can and get your money's worth. I never had to pay a cent for my shows as it was the broadcast network.
