You can say whatever you want about this movie but the funeral of Frigga was well done, one of the best scenes in the movie.
Not as good as the funeral of this movie was... jk it is a pretty bad movie but I do like how they did the funeral for frigga.

@@richierich7229 Thor 2 is boring. I didn't think much about Iron Man 3 either. In my opinion, both Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 focused way too much time on the girlfriends and them being the heroes, and well, I don't watch superhero movies for the love interests. Phase 2 was very weak except for The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy.
This is just such an underrated movie. And Loki and Thor’s escape from Asgard is probably one of the funniest sequences in all of the MCU

I'm literally just waiting for the day Jen watches Endgame. It's gonna be the most epic thing. I think this is the closest I'm gonna get to re-watching the MCU from scratch as if I've never seen it. Watching Jen's reactions to it and how slowly but surely, she's turning into a straight up Marvel Stan is EPIC! It's around this time that I jumped in religiously, watching AoS, watching the animated shows, reading the tie-in comics and starting the Netflix shows eventually when they came out (though I didn't really finish them, aside from S1 of Luke Cage). By this point it's less like a film or tv show thing, and more of just my general life. Like, I lost the giddy excitement and got so invested that it's so familiar that sometimes the story beats don't hit as hard as they're intended too, but I still feel the impact, it's just much deeper, and personal, as opposed to surface level. I say this in a really good way, btw, not a bad way.
I think that's the success of Marvel and I think, with Jen pretty much enjoying every Marvel film, even the ones many fans don't particularly love, I can see that if Jen had the same outlook on openness (I dunno how she was a decade ago obvs, but over time people's tastes change and people are sometimes more closed/open minded to things that they might have liked/disliked in the past) and watching the MCU that she has now, when Iron Man came out, she'd be a massive MCU fan.
Which I personally love. So I feel like I'm almost watching myself, and it's kinda cool to see the magic and the wonder that I think, after a while, once we kinda knew how things were going, the main players or the formula etc, some of us probably lost. Like, the innocence. We're all vets so we know what's coming, we know the idea of what's coming in the future post Endgame, but Jen's still in the innocence phase between phase 1's start and probably AoU where everything was new and different and we didn't know what to expect or where things could go and that's really beautiful and cool to see again.

I really like how unfettered she is by public opinion. She's not bogged down with the knowledge that most people dislike this movie. She just goes into every movie completely fresh, and that is very nice to see and experience.
I have a soft spot for this one because I love stories about brothers and i feel like this was the first time they found common ground.

I personally like Thor 1, but this one kind of falls flat for me. It's not God awfull, but it's not great. It's probably my least favorite MCU movie. Now, Thor: Ragnarok... that's another beast, I love that movie

It was pretty good, but it was filmed at the same time As the Winter Soldier. I enjoy it tbh - but given that it was a later mcu film it does fall flat.
I really loved the final fight in this movie. The way Mjolnir was just heading to space and back when Thor would call it were really enjoyable. The writers were really thinking with portals!

Alexander Skarsgård said in a interview that his dad use to run around naked at home when he was growing up. It started to get embarrassing when he and his brother started to bring girlfriend home. So I guess Stellan Skarsgård (Erik Selvig) don't have a problem with a bit of nudity.

I was one of the few that did like this when it came out. I liked the more 'fantasy' elements of Thor and Asgard. So this to me was just more of that and I ate it up. Over time I'm glad to see people change their m ind on this one. Now I do have to agree with Holden, I do like their tonal change for Thor later, I think it was for the best and the third Thor is probably one of my favorite MCU movies all around. Great reaction! Can't wait to see the rest of Phase 2!
I’m of the exact same opinion. Really liked the movie when it came out, have come around on it slightly over time because Maliketh just isn’t an interesting villain, and Thor Ragnarok is one of my top 3! Hope Lady Sif comes back with a vengeance for the next movie!

This movie is underrated. There is the best Loki we have ever had.
Frigga's funeral is one of my favorite scenes in the MCU. Really beautiful.

Me personally, when I first watched thor 2 the first time, I actually liked it and I was surprised because most critics or fans didn't liked it and I wonder why. I liked it even more the 2nd time watching it.
Fun fact about Fandral, played here by Zachary Levi. Zachary Levi was originally cast as Fandral in the first Thor movie. But he couldn't ultimately do it due to scheduling issues with his series Chuck. So Josh Dallas replaced him. And then in the second Thor movie the opposite happened. Dallas couldn't do the movie due to scheduling issues with a series he was in, so they cast Zachary to replace him. They both replaced each other and were destined to play Fandral! :-)
I hope they can get caught up in time for Loki on Disney+. Seems like Jen will love that.

I'm totally with Jen on this one. I absolutely loved The Dark World for the first time and never understood all the hate it got. It's really a great Thor movie. And also I'm totally on the opposite side with Holden, I absolutely hate what the studio did to him.
The actor that plays Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard) is the real life father of the actor that plays Floki on Vikings. (Gustaf Skarsgard)

Without spoiling anything, I don’t think the change in Thor in the third movie came out of nowhere. That aspect of the character was always there, they just played that trait up more.

I didn’t love Thor 2 but I did like it. I liked the look of the movie a lot with the funeral for Thor’s mother being my favorite scene visually. Loki’s reaction to her death is also very well done I thought and I loved it for some reason. Loki overall was probably the best part of the movie as well.

Fun fact: In the first Thor movie, they wanted Zachary Levi to play Fandral, but he was busy filming “Chuck”. So they cast Josh Dallas. Then in the second Thor movie, Dallas was busy with “Once Upon a Time”, but since “Chuck” had ended, they went back to their first pick, Levi. Both were great in the part, they just had scheduling conflicts.

The Winter Soldier to me is THE BEST standalone MCU movie. There's a reason Holden is a Captain America fan and that movie sealed the deal for me.

I'm amazed at the amount of people that don't know that Alexander Skarsgård's dad is the guy who plays Eric Selving, Stellan Skarsgard.
And let's not forget that Bill is his son too. IT' is indeed kinda amazing.
I think even the worst MCU is still a good movie. I honestly don't rank Thor 2 at the very bottom, but it's only lower on my list because everything else is so good. I liked it quite a bit when I saw it in theater. I remember better understanding people's complaints when I saw it again. But I still like it and think it's fun. And the Thor payoffs in multiple ways post-this movie.
I agree completely. It's actually my second least favourite MCU film just above Iron Man 2, but I still think they are both decent enough and perfectly watchable movies that don't at all hinder the MCU viewing experience.
I actually had the same reaction in the theater watching this movie, thought it was just as good as the first Thor (which I really liked had zero expectations going in). Re-watching it a couple times I saw what fans didn't like about it. Liked seeing her reaction!

Jen is a clean canvass and I love her reviews of these beloved MCU flicks. She 's honest, she does not worry too much about the reference materials and just dives in head-first to the movies and enjoys them in the process.

This film is very underrated
This movie is underrated on a weird level. Phase 2 basically has a villain problem. Thor 2 has so much lovely character stuff with the family drama. The only thing is flat out bad is that Frigga didn't have more to do. I adore Renee Russo. And Frigga is a great character.
