Ok but how did no one comment on how cool the scenes of spider-man swinging through New York were?? I felt like they really nailed the the physics of his movement and how he would web to turn or gain speed but also seeing how it had become second nature like walking for him. So good!
What makes Gwen’s death even more heartbreaking is that in the Sam Raimi trilogy, Peter was always able to save Mary Jane, but in this Duology, Peter wasn’t able to save his first love and has to live with the regret and consequences, all he can do now is accept the reality he lives in, that New York needs Spider-Man and to move on. Say what y’all want about Andrew Garfield, he played the Spider-Man role as best he could and delivered a powerful performance mourning Gwen’s death, dealing with the aftermath of it all, and eventually makes a triumphant comeback.
Yea it was definitely the writing. I love Andrew as Spider-Man but not so much as Peter. Peter was supposed to learn responsibility with his uncle dying. Then with Gwen's father he explained in his last few minutes about Peter's lifestyle of being Spider-Man will put Gwen in danger and to promise him he'll stay away Gwen. It seemed as though Peter understood this when he told Gwen he can't be with her anymore but it seemed like all it took was the next scene to be all like "oh nvm I was just saying that for your dad. So what are you up to next week?". For it to come around in this movie to kill Gwen Stacy it's as if Peter hadn't learned anything about responsibility of being who he is at all.
Well, yes. But storywise it is by far THE WORST Spider-Man Movie. This Movie is all over the place. No coherent Story, dumb Characters, ridicolous Motivation and so on. It's Shit. Really beatiful shot shit tho...
@@trevorphilips9065 well, maybe you check out some "real" critics about this movie, and you'll find out that exactly those points are the problem of this Movie. The "Fans" are those, who are trying to defend a script that is so poorly written, it doesn't even know who is the main villain of the Movie. It has too much different plots, all happening at the same time, so there is no coherent tone or themes, that the movie explores. Dude, I wish I could like this movie, cause it looks stunning, and Gwens Death is amazing, but those things are the only two good points someone can make about this film.
@@xarakar No the fans are just a bunch of dimwits who think they would make a better movie it's laughable honestly you'd probably make a movie worse than fantastic four or even Batman and Robin and there's plenty of reasons to like the movie you just whine about everything.
@@trevorphilips9065 Lol. Do you seriously think, that this mess of a movie is Marc Webbs Vision? TASM2 is a perfect example of the studio butchering the creative direction a project was going to take. Maybe if Webb was allowed to make the Movie he wanted, it would be okay, but with all the interference of Sony he was forced to put Green Goblin in, he was forced to tease the Sinister Six, etc. It's Not like that is the Movie, Webb wanted to make. So your Argument is invalid, from the start. But just to be clear, you do realize it is possible to critique the work of others, without having to do a better job yourself, right?
Gwen's death was done so well. The way she hit her head in a very sutle way leaves you questioning and the fact there wasn't a cheesy last conversation and then the blood coming out her nose what confirms what your dreading. The fact that they both had such amazing chemerstry too. One of the best movie deaths.
I may be wrong but, when I first watched it, my friend and I were unsure if she hit her head or not, and if you slow it down enough you can see she does not hit her head, and it makes sense, since if you do fall down at that speed the amount of damage that the skull would have taken from a fall and hit of that gratitude would have had her majorly bleeding inside and out. She died due the to impact of the web catching her at that speed and her spine most likely majorly injured as well and mostly her neck being completely messed up. Im no doctor or anything but I think this is what might have happened.
Don't think it was a direct head impact because there would be blood. It's more of the whiplash caused by the sudden stop of the web causing the spine and neck to break
@@ArkNova24 you're not wrong. I can't believe so many years after the movie came out, people still believe she hit her head. It would have been smashed like a watermelon thrown out the window. The whiplash from Peter suddenly stopping her fall breaks her neck and spine. It's accurate to the comics, too
Wait.... Matt believed that Gwen actually died?!!! He actually accepted her death?! Wow! Jokes aside, the death scene really is so freaking emotional, I'm glad that Matt felt this one.
He probably believed it due to Holden saying it’s the last of the series in the beginning of the video. Funnily enough tho, the leaked concept for the third movie was that Peter could bring everyone who has died back to life using his blood including Gwen. I love this movie tho and the first.
I think many fans unfairly judged this movie at the time because they wanted Marvel to be given back the rights to spidey. I remember it getting hate before the trailer even released.
I mean you can say what you want about the writing for these two films, but Andrew Garfield is an A+ actor. While he was a different type of Peter Parker, he excelled at it and was a great Spiderman.
Holden doesn´t realize that his actual appreciation for this movie relies more on what it all COULD have been in his head as opposed to what it actually turned out to be.....
@@chanceneck8072 Well I dont know about all of that. I enjoyed the film. I just think it suffered from being a reboot with not enough time passing between franchises, and Sony rushing the entire Spiderverse / Sinister 6 plot.
@@jamesosteen09 I believe that they are saving that S6 storyline for the future of the spiderman in the MCU. And i glad with that. Now i'm excited to see all the multiversal villians in no way home and obviously very very expectating and excited for all 3 spiderman together 🙌
When Jen watches Marvel with friends: *Its Stan Lee* almost whispering to Holden When Jen watches Marvel with only Holden: Its Staan LEEEEEEEE !!!! *With arms raised !*
Still this franchise has the greatest CGI, cinematography, action & swinging, suit, quips, colour grading, soundtracks, romance, emotions, comic accurate spiderman portrayal, etc out of all live action spidey movies.
@@Anonymous-bm6mv my opinion of spider man movies ranked... 1. Spider-Man 2 (Sam Rami) 2. Spider-Man Far From Home. 3. The Amazing Spider-Man 1 4. The Amazing Spider-Man 2. 5. Spider-Man: Homecoming. 6. Spider-Man 1 ( Sam Rami). 7. Spider-man 3 (Sam Rami).
I like how this movie gave Peter and Aunt May and actual family relationship. The MCU Peter/May relationship feels like a sitcom just trying to get laughs🤦
I love that MFW isn’t ENTIRELY gone, it makes it feel extra special whenever there’s an upload :) this has been my favorite channel I’ve found this year.

I never thought TASM movies were bad. I always thought that they handle more of a deep emotional, action-oriented and heartfelt movies but sadly, it is poorly driven by bad plots, storyline, underwhelming writing and poor character development. However, these are the type of movies you don't get often and whilst they have many flaws, the CGI was amazing, the slow-motion effect was beautifully made and with such class. This Spider-Man has the best costume out all the others imo. The spider swing was BY FAR the best out of all the other movies, the choreography, the stunts with the visual effects was immaculate. There are also such depth and emotions conveyed by Peter Parker and Aunt May, you never EVER get to see anything that emotional and deep once in a while, Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker had the best chemistry together and you understand where Peter Parker was coming from based on what he went through. Gwen Stacy's death was heart wrenching and you can also FEEL it because you've known the characters ever since TASM and you understand how much Gwen meant to Peter. These are moments in a film that you want to treasure, you want to take it all in because those are the moments that mean something to you. And I'm sad that these movies didn't live up to the hype of many others as I thought it would
Gwen's death was so great in this movie. It really hits home. Throughout both movies, you really like her character. The two actors have great chemistry together, and you just believe their love is real. Seeing Gwen die like that hurt. Especially since he almost had her. His web caught her, but it was just a second too late. And the following scenes just go to show how great of an actor Andre Garfield is. I'd easily say he's the best actor of the three. (Portrayal of Spider-man/Peter aside, from an acting standpoint, I think he's the best.)
The tragedy here is, even if he got her, the whiplash would've broke her neck like in the comics, but here it was made a bit more ambiguous with her (almost or actually) hitting the floor with her head. And something that could've been great is if in the third one they would put MJ in a similar situation to show that Peter learns from his mistakes, so he actually saves MJ.
Because remember, in the comics it was actually Peter that kills Gwen when catching her because the sudden stop breaks her back. It is the one and only time he ever catches anybody in that manner and he is devastated for years because he knows that he killed her, even though she would have died still had he not even tried. Peter catches her with the web, her back breaks and she dies, then she strikes her head on the pavement.
@@MrLionniol they started dating while filming the first film, they had broken up just before the 2nd film, which worried the director about the chemistry...but they still had a very strong friendship and that allowed them to carry on amazingly to film this.
Garfield was always my favorite Spider-Man and after watching NWH I feel so bad for his character knowing that he’s all by himself and has no one. We don’t know if May is still alive but it just feels like with him saying “I always wanted brothers.” And “I love you guys.” It feels like he’s been lonely for quite sometime and the only thing he has left is being Spider-Man.
Matt’s reaction to Gwen’s speech puts a smile on my face. I felt the same emotions from that and I’ve practically memorized it because of how much the speech resonated with me.
Each of their reactions to the splat are incredible in their own way. Matt's audible gasp, Jenna's wince, Jen closing her eyes and sighing, Holden's freakin' smile to the camera.
This Reaction is what TASM 2 Deserves! They've praised every detail which others ignore and hate upon. ILY Guys ♥ Also a key point they forgot to mention is the swinging action. Best Spider-Man Movie imo
I'm honestly, but pleasantly, surprised that everyone rated this movie as high as they did. I love this movie. I know all the problems, but for whatever reason, they don't bother me enough to make me hate it. The clocktower scene and Gwen's death still makes my heart race every time. This is my favorite live-action Spidey suit, and the web swinging has never looked better, before or since. Electro is cheesy, yes, but I knew people like that in high school. Outcasts who latch onto people who show them even a little bit of kindness and take it too far, then swing too far the other way when the people they latch onto have to set some boundaries. Max's version is exaggerated, but still felt real to me. I could believe someone with his social and mental issues having a turn like that when given real power and no clue about how to behave normally without them, let alone with them. Also, I've missed Matt and Jenna so much. Even though Matt dislikes a lot of movies I love, I love his breakdown of what he liked and didn't like. He doesn't pretend to know something he doesn't, and I love when he picks out Bygone-Jim moments. I'm so glad this series is back.
I don't think this is a good movie at all, I still love watching it and it's enjoyable, but the plot is very rushed and poorly developed. Harry is just thrown in the plot randomly, Peter has no reason not to give Harry his bloodcuz Harry's already dying. Electro is a bit weird and poorly developed, but other than that I can watch this movie any day and enjoy it. but it is still a 6/10
@@nevinmiranda6386 the reason peter has to not give harry his blood is there and its ironclad. "I dont know what my blood will do to you. The risk that it will kill you or worse is too great and i wont make myself responsible for your death."
The VFX and SpiderMan swinging being so good are mostly because Sony has some of the best people in the business when it comes to VFX and Animation. Their employees are nuts. The amount of work that went into his swinging is insane, they actually made up new ways for SpiderMan to traverse (like he pulls himself forward by grabbing/pulling from the strings he makes). And the character TDs are also crazy, the work that went into muscles, clothing and character simulations in general is just crazy. Just the work alone that it took to create all those vfx layers on Electro is pretty insane.
16:40 man they had it coming look at their expressions 16:54 and especially matt, jen and jenna's reaction my god i remember i was in 5th grade when I went to the theatres to watch this in 3d the web looking like a hand from him crying after gwen dies the whole audience was making crying noises and I was also in tears this movie is so good
Gwen's death hit me so hard. That's how heartbreaking and beautifully executed that scene was because everyone still has anxiety thinking about that death scene years later.
Watched this movie as a kid and just noticed felicia is in this movie, who becomes black cat, a love interest of spider-man. Would’ve loved to see her developed in a sequel
As a kid, I used to get bullied a lot, and when this movie came out I was still in middle school, but the scene where Peter walks the kid home was the best! Really represented spiderman there. I felt like I was one of the few people who actually enjoyed this movie. So rn im really happy u guys all loved it! I can't wait for no way home😎
I love Andrew’s Spider-Man / Peter Parker just because I think he portrays Peter’s cockiness the best. Also, the relationship between Gwen and Peter as well as Peter and his Aunt is amplified in this series and I love it
I gotta be honest these reactions surprised me, I was expecting everyone to dislike this more then the first amazing spider-man, this just shows how movies are subjective, great vid guys.
My issues with this movie are the back and forth with peter and gwens relationship, the whole parents subplot/coins in the calculator, harry magically getting sick immediately when his dad took forever to die, the multiple villains just like spiderman 3, all the destruction and potential death when spiderman is joking and quipping with the rhino. That's just everything off the top of my head.
I truly wish they did a third part for this series. The story of Gwen and Peter is my favorite. In the third part, how would he have dealt with all of the guilt. If he had listened to her father, she would still be alive. If he let her leave for Europe, she would still be alive. We missed out on so many more emotional moments that could have been in part 3
Actually I agree and disagree, because 50% of the greatness of these movies is the acting of Emma stone and her/andrews chemistry. So that leaves a huggggeeee gap. Idk if that would've worked as well. But yeah the stuff you mentioned would've made a good 3rd movie, I just don't mind them not making a 3rd part.
@@coranonthecob1613 If we, as fans, gave a chance to Shailene Woodley's MJ, she probably could've been a great part of the third film if it ever happened
This movie is probably my favorite visual live action representation of Spider-Man. The suit looks great, and the web swinging scenes are the best out of all the movies. They went to extra length to make sure the swinging looks not just good, but also real, and i think even the MCU is lacking in that respect.
Sometimes I feel people tend to take the internet's opinion as their own and not have their own...(like I did sometime back.) When this movie came out I was so excited I watched it opening day and loved it so much. In the beginning the initial reviews were good, then after a few days more and more people on the internet said that this movie is garbage and the worst Spider-Man movie ever made. I got affected by these opinions and without knowing adopted them and also believed that amazing Spiderman 2 was garbage. Till in 2017 I rewatched the movie and realised how much I enjoyed it again. Since then I just make my own opinions and thoughts on movies and shows without having to listen to what the internet says.
I’ve always liked this movie. I have my issues with it, and I did make a fan edit if it. But I still enjoy all of these movies. Even Spider-Man 3 has its moments
@@ryansmith-jr4gn The fact you said that means you totally got the wrong idea, unless you did and you're just being rude about it. The point OP is making is that people should be forming their own opinions rather than being sheep. That's all it is.
I feel like you could take out the thing with his parents, and the thing with rhino and the film would actually be pretty fire, Andrews Spider-Man definitely for me has some of my favorite Spider-Man moments
Agreed, I wish a movie series would actually just follow the lore because even though I like how they introduced Harry, they shouldn't have made him a villain straight away
One thing we can't deny unless you really feel it: TAS2's score is almost PHENOMENAL. Hans Zimmer & The Magnificent Seven with Pharrell Williams had brought unique elevations to the different themes through the film. With Electro's theme keeping the characteristic of electric music with dubstep like beats while including errie orchestral music (which a majority of people hated since it came out, but it's honestly underrated.) Then there's Spidey's theme, with having heroic trumpets play as he appears with positive chords mixed and brass rises that keeps the excitement of the moment he does saving. It's not as iconic as Danny Elfmans for sure, but it's incredible nonthless
I’m stunned at your reactions to this, genuinely wasn’t expecting y’all to like it as much as you did. I’m in the same boat as y’all, it’s a fun movie and Andrew is my favorite Spider-Man actor (Raimi films are my favorite films tho)
Their chemistry was off the charts and it kept the viewers hooked and invested, even though the writing of these movies kinda sucked. Such a big improvement over Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst.
TASM2: Sony's height of hubris, the movie. They spent a ridiculous amount of money on this movie, and advertisements, where they overspent it. Plotlines that still don't go anywhere, or were just filler (Aunt May in the hospital, and the two planes colliding) They went HARD with the universe set-up, they REALLY wanted a universe, setting up so many characters, making a sequels, and spin-offs, (The man in shadows was Gustav Fiers, "The Gentleman", played by the late Michael Masse, he supported a later version of the Sinister Six in the comics, and they wanted a Nick Fury type in their movies) and... wait, they're still doing that... huh... Anyway, this was a mess, like it or not, it hurt Sony, plus the leak with North Korea was the double tap shotgun blast to keep this version down... but on a positive, the movie looks visually good, like the last one, Andrew is still great, the suit is much better, Emma is fantastic, Gwen's death scene was telegraphed hard (if you know her death, she wears the exact same thing in her death issue), but it looked great (not a fan of web hand, and it's bit too early... but whatever.) I rambled to much on it, i'm glad the parts that worked are coming back in a new form in NWH.
I think there where so many plot lines left unfinished due to, like you said, them wanting to make a whole universe with multiple spider-man movies in which they end those plotlines and make new ones
Holden I can’t explain how at least once a day I’m scrolling through my feed like “damn there’s nothing to watch”, but then you have just uploaded a new video for us :)))) nice
Fun Fact: The theme of this movie is Time. Pay close attention to certain dialogues, scenes etc. It's in fact confirm that Andrew's Spidey did kill Gwen because of his foot, the director Marc Webb stated that "Peter was trying to STOP time" Another example would be how much time Harry has before he dies, the fight scene at the "clock" tower, how Peter was running out of time to be with Gwen. This movie's theme is highly underrated and detailed.
100% the same, here. I enjoy the other two as well but Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man AND Peter Parker are my favourite. I also love the Stacy family storylines (both the tragic romance with Gwen and the haunting drama of her father). And though I adored Raimi's Aunt May (Rosemary Harris was incredibly cast and performed impeccably), I grew up with Sally Field playing matriarchs. Overall, the characterizations of the ASM movies resonated more with me than the other two versions.
Andrew is my favorite spiderman of all, I really connect with him more than the others (but I like them too) every time I watch these movies for me it's like reading a comic book you know? I really feel like this Peter was taken from a comic, mostly from the Ultimate universe. Every time I read, watch an animation or play a Spider game, that's the actor in my mind. I really love a lot of things in TASM 1 and 2 and I’m glad that nowadays more people are able to appreciate the work.
The best moment of this entire film was Gwen Stacy's death. I know that's a horrible thing to say, but when things stick to lore, that's the stuff I can very much so praise. I am in the camp of glad they moved on later with Tom Holland. I really did not like the actor who played Harry. So much was going on in this film too it felt like they jammed so much into this.
the actor who played harry is great, but when you're given lines like "You're a fraud spider-man" unironically, it's hard to deliver on so little and what was ultimately wasted material.
I personally enjoy this Spider-Man more than hollands. I just like when Spider-Man is more independent. I like it more like the comics where he teams up here and there but for the most part it was him on his own which I personally enjoy more
When it comes to The Amazing Spider-Man films, I have said this and will keep saying it: The biggest problem with them was NOT the casting. The casting, especially with Andrew and Emma, were flawless choices. The biggest issues were the writing and pacing (oh, and can't forget the studio interference, something that you would have thought Sony would have learned from with Spider-Man 3, but alas). Had they chosen to commit to one cohesive narrative instead of trying to narratively have multiple hands in multiple pies, this film actually would have been better for it. I still to this day love ASPECTS of this film, especially his costume, but as a film and the overall sum of its parts, it's rather disappointing because of the lack of commitment (which is again due to studio interference). Andrew gets way too much criticism for these films, when in fact, an actor can only really work with the dialogue they're given because they're contracted to do so. He is a tremendously talented actor and a self-professed fan of Spider since he was 5, so he was a natural choice just like Tom Holland (who's also a fan of the character from a young age).
Y ah I honestly thought they'd say worse I love this movie was it in theaters with my brother and friend . I was always sad to hear people didn't like it
I honestly thought the first time I saw this movie when I was 15, that the reason Spiderman didn't wanted to give Harry his blood was because he was worried Oscorp will figure out who is Spiderman by seeing whose DNA he matches with. But nope!
I remember being pissed at Sony because they included Rhino in the trailer when it was first going to come out and Rhino only ended up being as a cliffhanger which was disappointing
Okay now these are my fav movies and he is my fav spidey 1000% but even I’m obligated to say this is not the best one lmao…Spider-man 2 is legendary along with Into the Spider-verse they share the #1 spot
To me it hits a balance where at times it feels like the Schumacher Batman duology, it can be campy af but it has great ideas and scenes, you can just *feel* there's a good movie there... "Buried, deep beneath the snow"
the relationship of gwen and peter carried the amazing spiderman series. easily the best thing about the 2 movies and her death scene easily the most heart breaking thing i've seen in any spiderman movie
I really enjoyed this movie the acting, choreography (camera and fighting), cinematography but what sells it for me is the score, Hans zimmer always blows me away but this movie was something else, that end fight with the electrical pillars is unreal
Andrew was my childhood Spiderman and I honestly cannot understand the hype for Tobey. I'm trying to, but I can't. I just don't enjoy him. But I'm happy so many people seem to enjoy him!
@@strbourne As someone who grew up with Tobey, and obviously watched anything else related to Spiderman, I would say it’s mainly nostalgia blindness. But Tobey’s movies had that kind of a mature vibe to them, so I guess maybe that’s why people love them. I love any movie by Spiderman if I am being honest.
I know it's bad but i really feel like without Gwen's death in this movie, I wouldn't really like it too much. But the swinging is still unrivalled in any Spider-Man movie
I remember when we got to the ending, I was waiting for Rhino to show up the whole movie, but he never did and thought he was cut entirely from the movie, but then he appears and.... giant cliffhanger :(

I'm so glad you all enjoy this movie. Seriously underrated and one of my biggest guilty pleasure films and is easily the best Spider-Man has ever looked on screen.
I am so thrilled that you guys loved this movie. It receives so much hate and I think a lot of the incredible moments get missed. I think you all enjoyed it more than I did and I just loved hearing the variety of thoughts. Great commentary y’all :)
i likes this one too, i dont understand why no one liked it. I mean the cinematography, the acting, the chemistry between Andrew and Emma was amazing, i for sure enjoyed it more than the first one and i hope we see Andrew on no way home
Most people liked it for the reasons you explained. Some people didn't like it because of the stuff that happened in the film. For example Spider-Man letting people die in the beginning, the people of New York standing around watching meta humans fight when they should be getting out of there and too many things happening in the film, like he throws a calculator and finds coins that lead him to a secret base somehow. A TH-cam channel called Cosmonaut Variety Hour explains it a lot better.
I don't care what anyone says, I think this movie rules. The last half hour is basically cinema perfection. This film also has one of my favorite comic easter eggs. You can catch a glimpse of it at 16:57 in this video. As the clock tower is falling apart, the clock hands spin around and then come to rest showing a time of 1:21. Amazing Spider-Man issue 121 is the issue where Green Goblin knocks Gwen Stacy off a bridge, killing her.
Wow I’m surprised they all liked it as much as they did, I enjoyed it a lot aswell, my only thing I don’t really like is electro, idk I just didn’t like it
Same here. But honestly its nice to see people say good things though. To me when it comes to acting. I feel Andrew does it the best. I think there is a lot to like and dislike about TASM 2.
I remember when the 1st came out, it took me over 1year to watch it. Just because i didnt want to see another actor then maguire. Then started watching it, didnt like seing him being cocky vs flash, cool skateboarding, not enought nerdy etc.... Stoped watching it. Annother day, tried to watch a little more, fell asleep and woke up at the fight against lizard in the School, i was like, wow best spidey movie action the way he fights moves and everything so finished watching it and enjoyed it (and really liked the relationship with Gwen). Amazing 2, well, loved every bit of it, just my favorite spidey movie...
I'm glad you guys liked it a lot. I can always understand the reasons why people don't love it but I can't understand why they don't like it. This is my favorite spiderman film and every time I mention it I get some looks lol.
Its not really true that “anyone could be spider-man”. The story arc in the comics “The Other” introduced the idea that Peter was always destined to be bitten by the spider because it was part of the web of destiny or whatever lol
ur trying to find a defense for this idea which i will give props to but spiderman is literally suppoed to be the kid who wasnt meant to have these abilities but does so now he needs to use them responsibly and for the better of others because he has them. That is spiderman 101. Peter is a nerd. Hes not supposed to get powers like this because hes not the type to have powers like these. SO when he does he knows that taking it for granted isnt in his peronality, thats not the way his humanity works. He does what is right every single time and once getting powers he knows what his responsibility is and that is using these powers for the right thing.
just because something similar happened in the comics doesn't excuse this movie, and a LOT of people absolutely hate "the other" and all the spider god crap
The idea of Spider-Man being special is because anyone can be a hero, we just have to keep our heart and being strong to make us worthy and noble to everyone and everything.
I love this movie, It's honestly probably my favorite spider-man movie. I can't really tell you why, nor can I defend it, but it's just my favorite. I always have so much fun watching it.
One thing that goes overlooked in these two film, similar to the Star Wars prequels, is the surprising uses of Practical effects along with CG: The slo mo sequence on the stairs in this film was done by having all the actors standing perfectly still while a camera weaved between them via crane. Peter in his bedroom trying to get his costume off before Aunt May walks in was actually real. They built a sideways replica of his bedroom that rotated, giving the illusion he was rolling on the walls. And of course, the entire opening chase was practical, which I find hilarious because of the absurd amount of damaged they caused while doing it. A friend of mine was in New York during some of the filming, and there would be days where the crew was ready to drop a car onto another car, and people would gather around waiting, while the production team would hype it up over a megaphone, and everyone would cheer when the cars got smashed.
What I like about the non-MCU Marvel movies, is their sense of individuality TASM1 and TASM2 were made by the same director, and yet, he was able to give both of them their own identity
But you can see that across the mcu as well? The First Avenger feels like a completely different movie to that of The Winter Soldier Thor 1 and 2 feels completely different from Ragnarok,so on and so on.
Little fun wholesome fact: in the deleted scenses, there is one of flash thombson hugging peter at the graduation, they actually became friends, in the first one he actually felt sorry to peter for his uncle
They’re are two deleted scenes where Peter goes to MJ’s house (played by the main actress in Divergent) and one where Peter’s dad is alive and meets him at Gwen grave
The movie has writing issues, but the acting performances are brilliant, it has the best superhero on screen couple, and it is definitely the best looking spiderman movie yet
There were many things I didn't like about this movie but I do enjoy the movie, especially since the majority of people hated this movie so much. Rhino was dumb, "Green Goblin" was atrocious. There was some cheesy stuff with Electro but overall I liked him. And DUDE, the Electro theme song is freaking GOD TIER! I love his theme so much! And of course, Gwen's death, freaking heartbreaking. I remember the girl I was dating at the time hated superhero movies so she wasn't too excited for this movie, even she was crying during Gwen's death. It was so tragic and Andrew Garfield's performance during that scene was AMAZING! I give it a solid 6.5. Issues with the movie but overall enjoyable!
It’s by no means my favorite Spider-Man movie, but seeing the positivity and appreciation of the Amazing Spider-Man 2 from You, Jen, Matt and Jenna has reaffirmed my love for the film again. @@Bigmeechflen All those words just to describe yourself. Please, continue!

It has too much different plots, all happening at the same time, so there is no coherent tone or themes, that the movie explores.

@@ArkNova24 Yeah, I always understood it that her neck was broken from the web yanking her up.

It's nice to see people realize that this movie isn't as bad as everyone says. I still don't think the movie is great but i think is alright
It's a fun movie.
And I'm sad that these movies didn't live up to the hype of many others as I thought it would
Holden smiling when everybody's sad about Gwen's death😂😂
He missed the part we’re that’s his problem
I know I was expecting someone to say she’s not dead 🤣😂 Glad no one said it.

Nah she sucks in these movies
No surprise on their chemistry considering they were dating at the time.

One thing we can't deny unless you really feel it:
TAS2's score is almost PHENOMENAL.
This movie is many things, but the romance between Peter and Gwen was by far the most brilliant storytelling ever done in a Marvel movie.
So so true I love them so much
I feel like it's never hard to fall in love with Emma Stone.
Their chemistry was off the charts and it kept the viewers hooked and invested, even though the writing of these movies kinda sucked.
Such a big improvement over Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst.
Bro the chemistry was beyond words!
TASM2: Sony's height of hubris, the movie.
They spent a ridiculous amount of money on this movie, and advertisements, where they overspent it. Plotlines that still don't go anywhere, or were just filler (Aunt May in the hospital, and the two planes colliding)
They went HARD with the universe set-up, they REALLY wanted a universe, setting up so many characters, making a sequels, and spin-offs, (The man in shadows was Gustav Fiers, "The Gentleman", played by the late Michael Masse, he supported a later version of the Sinister Six in the comics, and they wanted a Nick Fury type in their movies) and... wait, they're still doing that... huh...
Anyway, this was a mess, like it or not, it hurt Sony, plus the leak with North Korea was the double tap shotgun blast to keep this version down... but on a positive, the movie looks visually good, like the last one, Andrew is still great, the suit is much better, Emma is fantastic, Gwen's death scene was telegraphed hard (if you know her death, she wears the exact same thing in her death issue), but it looked great (not a fan of web hand, and it's bit too early... but whatever.)
I rambled to much on it, i'm glad the parts that worked are coming back in a new form in NWH.
I think there where so many plot lines left unfinished due to, like you said, them wanting to make a whole universe with multiple spider-man movies in which they end those plotlines and make new ones
I know everyone hates the parents storyline but I loved it in this film. That opening sequence is so well acted and interesting to me
I love how Matt is clearly vibing during the film, especially during the two parts of Gwen’s speech.
Even though to some people it might sound like heresy, Andrew's Spiderman is still my favorite to this day
I feel like that's more because of the huge issues in story and pacing in most of the franchise more than anything else.
Not to me, I LOVE Andrew's Spiderman. Hands down my fave too
Not my favorite Peter Parker (way better in Amazing 2 then in 1st) but definitely best Spiderman
Andrew is the best spiderman Actor but sadly The movie didn't end up well
Andrew is my favorite spiderman of all, I really connect with him more than the others (but I like them too) every time I watch these movies for me it's like reading a comic book you know?
Well the first 10 minutes of the movie is pretty solid, i loved the swinging and Spider-man's movements in TASM.
Gwen Stacy’s death in this movie, even though I knew the comics, was still surprising and felt fittingly heavy.
the actor who played harry is great, but when you're given lines like "You're a fraud spider-man" unironically, it's hard to deliver on so little and what was ultimately wasted material.
I personally enjoy this Spider-Man more than hollands. I just like when Spider-Man is more independent. I like it more like the comics where he teams up here and there but for the most part it was him on his own which I personally enjoy more
I think just cutting down a lot of side plots would make the movie a whole lot better.
I still love this movie way more than the general consensus, so I'm happy to see the group have positive thoughts on it too.
Roll on No Way Home!!
Y ah I honestly thought they'd say worse I love this movie was it in theaters with my brother and friend . I was always sad to hear people didn't like it
Movie: “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”
Matt: 👌👌👌
Another scene that was cut is Harry’s “Goblin” laughing in the background at Gwens death.
@@ryansmith-jr4gn I feel like it was cut because it was evil af. Because between the time he got KO’d to Peter crying.. he could’ve woken up.
This is why I don't watch trailers
Sony spoiled WAY too much in order to hype the movie up. Gotta reach that Billion Dollar goal!
I love the movie so much that I forgot you guys were down there and when somebody started talking I’m like who tf is that??!!😂😂😂
In my opinion Tom holland and Andrew Garfield make spider-man feel like a New Yorker. This is ironic because they are both English
You're so right
That's what a great actor do
as a New Yorker it’s definitely Andrew Garfield
@@khaixa_ as a Brooklyner he sounds more from Brooklyn than Queens. Tom really nails the Queens accent better
@@blopez8599 I’m not going to pretend that I’m an expert in accents but I agree with you
It must feel great now that everyone is caught up and Holden can share his excitement and theories for upcoming films.
Peter and Gwen carry this movie enough to the point where I actually find this movie enjoyable enough
best spider-man movie ever to exist
@@themanstan0785 yessssssiiiiiiiir 💯
Okay now these are my fav movies and he is my fav spidey 1000% but even I’m obligated to say this is not the best one lmao…Spider-man 2 is legendary along with Into the Spider-verse they share the #1 spot
To me it hits a balance where at times it feels like the Schumacher Batman duology, it can be campy af but it has great ideas and scenes, you can just *feel* there's a good movie there... "Buried, deep beneath the snow"
maybe they should have cut off Goblin and Elektro altogether lol
the relationship of gwen and peter carried the amazing spiderman series. easily the best thing about the 2 movies and her death scene easily the most heart breaking thing i've seen in any spiderman movie
I really enjoyed this movie the acting, choreography (camera and fighting), cinematography but what sells it for me is the score, Hans zimmer always blows me away but this movie was something else, that end fight with the electrical pillars is unreal
Tbh, Andrew nailed the character a lot better than Tobey. I like Tobey, I just think it’s nostalgia that makes love Tobey so much.
Na
definitely. Both Peter and Spidey from Andrew are really good.
@Adwig25 W Yeah, I think he nailed it much better than Tom and Tobey.
If there was something these movies had that everyone loved, it would be the web-swinging and the cgi,
I remember when we got to the ending, I was waiting for Rhino to show up the whole movie, but he never did and thought he was cut entirely from the movie, but then he appears and.... giant cliffhanger :(
*Jen's Spider-man Reviews/Rankings:*
*The Amazing Spider-Man 2:*
Really, really enjoyed this. Much better than first. Jamie Foxx was great. This managed to handle multiple villains better than Spider-Man 3. Heartbreaking. Only part didn't like was last scene with the Rhino. *8/10*
*My Thoughts:*
I still really like Andrew and Emma, their chemistry is great. I like the guilt arc Peter feels and also I do quite like his parent's mystery, just wish it was all better written. The villains aren't great, I think that's obvious. There are some great set pieces and action scenes however. Despite it not being very compelling, I can still sit down and just have a good time. I do wish we got a third...
*7/10*
*Jen's Rankings:*
• Venom *8.5/10*
• *The Amazing Spider-Man 2* *8/10*
• Spider-Man 2 *8/10*
• Spider-Man (2002) *7.5/10*
• Spider-Man: Far From Home *7.5/10*
• Spider-Man: Homecoming *7/10*
• Spider-Man 3 *6.5/10*
• The Amazing Spider-Man *6.5/10*
I agree I would've loved a 3rd movie
I'm so glad you all enjoy this movie. Seriously underrated and one of my biggest guilty pleasure films and is easily the best Spider-Man has ever looked on screen.
Everyone: *Devastated by Gwen's death*
Holden: 😃
Rhino and harry were so bad in this movie electro was literally meh IMO these don't come close to the raimi trilogy
It's really good to have this series back thank you for bringing it back it means a lot to us
I can’t see why people really hate this movie I loved both The Amazing Spider-Man movies
I mean, they did have flaws, in the second more than the first, but I love these movies and Andrew’s my favorite Spider-Man out of all of them.
Messy plot, bad villains…IMO anyways
There's just a lot of dumb stuff in it. No hate on Andrew, this is on the writers.
@@EthanRom Exactly. Andrew and Emma did fine with what they had to work with. I blame those two hacks Kurtzman and Orci for their crap writing.
I'm glad you guys liked it a lot. I can always understand the reasons why people don't love it but I can't understand why they don't like it. This is my favorite spiderman film and every time I mention it I get some looks lol.
I'm so glad y'all enjoyed this movie. I've been waiting anxiously for you guys to react to TASM duology. Andrew's peter and Spiderman are my favorite.
Ugh. We don't need to bring up The Other.
The idea of Spider-Man being special is because anyone can be a hero, we just have to keep our heart and being strong to make us worthy and noble to everyone and everything.
I love hearing people who actually loved the TASM movies. You usually get people who hate these movies on film twitter.
I love this movie, It's honestly probably my favorite spider-man movie. I can't really tell you why, nor can I defend it, but it's just my favorite. I always have so much fun watching it.
respect bro 💯. My top 3 are 1. Spiderman 2, 2.Far From Home and 3. The Amazing Spiderman
The song that Electro played was the nursery rhyme "Itsy Bitsy Spider" for anyone wondering. Bugged me for quite some time.
Yeah because that means he tuned those things earlier and had to figure out how to play them or he just naturally had perfect pitch.
One thing that goes overlooked in these two film, similar to the Star Wars prequels, is the surprising uses of Practical effects along with CG:
The slo mo sequence on the stairs in this film was done by having all the actors standing perfectly still while a camera weaved between them via crane.
What I like about the non-MCU Marvel movies, is their sense of individuality
TASM1 and TASM2 were made by the same director, and yet, he was able to give both of them their own identity
I think the identity can be heavily reflected in the soundtrack as well.
But you can see that across the mcu as well?
The First Avenger feels like a completely different movie to that of The Winter Soldier
Thor 1 and 2 feels completely different from Ragnarok,so on and so on.
@@navilferdous605 yeah but they'll always throw in some random avengers reference.
@@kingkong9892 yeah but sequels in a contained franchise also make references to the previous films as well
12:54 Omg the office reference 😂 Good job editor 👏🏼
Holden’s face when Gwen dies is golden
Little fun wholesome fact: in the deleted scenses, there is one of flash thombson hugging peter at the graduation, they actually became friends, in the first one he actually felt sorry to peter for his uncle
I have literally been whatching since Matt watched Star Wars and I still love your content Mr. Hardman. Never stop please
There ain’t no way Holds would stop creating so have no fear on that front. ❤️💪🏽
They’re are two deleted scenes where Peter goes to MJ’s house (played by the main actress in Divergent) and one where Peter’s dad is alive and meets him at Gwen grave
holden says it at the end
16:37 - 17:33 - The reaction I was I was waiting for.
Nice video, thank you for reacting to this films, I was waiting for them.👍
The 3D models/animation at the start is always so good and fun 😂
The movie has writing issues, but the acting performances are brilliant, it has the best superhero on screen couple, and it is definitely the best looking spiderman movie yet
I blame AVI ARAD
Hearing them say that they usually expect Jamie Foxx in a comedy makes me want to have them watch “law abiding citizen”
My girlfriend once told me she didn’t like superhero movies too. She is now my ex
Electro theme is a banger!
It’s by no means my favorite Spider-Man movie, but seeing the positivity and appreciation of the Amazing Spider-Man 2 from You, Jen, Matt and Jenna has reaffirmed my love for the film again. I felt so conflicted when it first came out. I thought it was good but I was surrounded by people who hated it and made me question my own opinions. You all are amazing! I love your channel! I’m so happy for your success and I look forward to more videos from you!
Its so Nice seeing Matt as og fan of series,Love newer editing
fun fact in the deleted scene with peter’s dad is the one scene in the TASM universe where ‘with great power comes with great responsibility’ is said by peter’s dad
If No Way Home doesn't hard cut from Doctor Strange explaining the fact that there might be other Spider-Men and Peter Parkers in the multiverse over to Rhino getting smashed in the face with a manhole cover i'm rating it 1 star.
Gwen: *dies
Holden: now this does put a smile on my face 17:01
