It’s nice to see him get some well deserved recognition. Being a legend is way more than just winning a ring; the obsession with rings diminishes so many great legacies
Melo proved that being a great scorer doesn't make you a great player.
Show me one time he made his team great, or another player great?
One memorable moment in time, when he did more than score a basket?
Show me how any of the points he scored mattered. Moving on....
@@InvestBetter. so salty lol
That is true
@@kool-aid8YOU JUST DON'T GIVE A ISH ABOUT SOME PEOPLE!
@@DraGanix33 The truth hurts you.
Melo is/was a great player! I absolutely loved his time in Portland. He was nothing like how people said he was when he was in Portland. He was absolutely wonderful. We love Melo in Portland!
This is the first piece of positive Carmelo Anthony media I’ve seen from these guys in like five years LMAO it’s refreshing
Started watching the NBA in 2010. Melo was instantly my favorite player to watch. Happy retirement Melo!
Nick dancing between the raindrops describing the 2009 WCF is unbelievable.
This is Nick's gift and curse. He's a master at pulling details that make his guy (usually Lebron) look great and other look bad (usually MJ and Kobe)
He brought up one quarter to simply talk about a what if. What raindrops did he dance through? He described what happened.
@@dkMansell96 Oh he did more than describe a quarter. He said "Odom and Gasol carried the day for Los Angeles" Kobe had 22/8/5 in G5. Pau had 14/10. Odom had 19/14 (5 of those points from brilliant assists by Kobe in the 4th). And in the other 5 games of the series Kobe was in a class by himself.
Not really dancing between anything. Melo did with to win that series but his team let him down. JR and Chauncey absolutely disappeared
@@kizitokatende412 Melo in the last 4 games of the series (after winning homecourt with two great games in LA): 23 ppg, 3.5 apg, 3.5 rpg, 31.9 fg%
When Melo got hot. He was one of the most fun guys to watch of his era.
It was fun to watch Melo in his prime, even when he reinvented himself in his later years with Portland etc. Kudos to him on a fantastic NBA & Olympic career
Nick has every moment of every game where Kobe didn't play great just stitched into his brain.
He is elite at hating I will give him that lol
@HipHopotamus Elite! I aspire to be that great of a hater lol.
Its a Melo segment. I guess blame Melo for that being his deepest playoff run??
its cuz people act like he has no blemishes on his resume and always showed up when thats just not the case.
@John Doe nah Nick I'd just a hater
Thank you guys for shouting out melo 💯 one of the greatest of this past generation
Nick's Kobe slander is unreal
……that wasn’t slander at all. All he did was present objective facts
@jmilkie44 yea, like he brings Kobes all defensive teams, or only talks about how much kobe missed shots, but refuses to bring up any of his greatest moments.
actually I saw in a interview Melo was Mahomes fav player growing up, and played a role in him choosing 15, im surprised Nick didn't bring it
Ahhh, Nick never misses a chance to shade tf out of Kobe. 😌🤌🏽
Sarcasm, btw. He’s obsessed.
Everytime lol he will do it every chance he gets
He's just the other end of the pundulum from people who mad overrate him.
@@connor_phillipz5689 The other end of the pendulum where you use one quarter to throw shade on a 34/6/6 48fg% series?
Just checked the series. Melo had 2 BAD games out of 6 including the close out game while Kobe dropped 40 plus in two games and 34 plus in two other games. He dropped 32 and a humble 22 on 13 shots in the game NICK referenced.
Just check the stats and reality. Melo was NEVER better than Kobe. Not even in that moment.
Melo was a legend congrats what a career 🏀🎉 that knicks team in 2012-13 was legendary
Nothing legendary about losing in the ECS.

@xxDAMIENxx823 C it's a meme, lol we know he had 13 rebounds
Melo a LEGEND!!! My Generation
Kobe’s 2009 WCF performance was SICK. Nick wouldn’t miss an opportunity to go at Kobe though😂😂😂. Kobe took over late in game 6 IN DENVER to end that series.
He was right though. Not a shot at kobe it was appreciating Melo

Melo was all about Melo. He never made anyone around him better. No “superstar” lost more. A poor man’s James Harden.
he did not somehow sprinkle in melo being better than kobe in that series. he did NOT
I think he was specifically talking about that 4th quarter where Melo showed up and his team didn't, and Kobe didn't show up while his team did.
He was just talking about that one specific quarter. Nick is really good at nit picking little stats and moments to make his guy look good

Wildes is so right. As a Knicks fan, this is why He’s my favorite player of all time. I’m 26 so I didn’t get to watch Ewing, Oakley, Frazier. He is what kept me watching the Knicks and I’d return to watch his highlights when the Knicks were winning 17 games a year shortly after he left. Thank you Me7o.
My favorite player 😢congrats melo
This trio has fantastic chemistry.
Kobe also said Carmelo was the toughest to guard 💪🏾💯💯
I am proud he brought my city a national championship, he had a opportunity to join the pistons on their championship run but he chose to be a franchise man for Denver. He was also a knicks legend. A beautiful career overall 👏🏾 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👑🏀🐐💯
Carmelo Anthony
His legacy is he scored a lot of points in the NBA.
And none of them mattered.😮💨
Kinda crazy though.....the truth hits different.....them teams with Iverson were fun though...
Nick is a fukkin goat… so are wildes and brou but that Carmelo Anthony response when brou said “guess who blah blah” legit goat personality
His best year was at Syracuse
GOOD LUCK TO YOUR NEXT PAGE IN LIFE MY FAVORITE NBA BASKETBALL PLAYER OF ALL TIME THE GREAT LEGEND MY GUY MELO!
YOU'VE BEEN SO GREAT THROUGHOUT YOUR CARRIER! YES SIIIR!
This is like I quit before the boss get a chance to fire you. Thought the dude was already gone.
No its like quitting while your on a leave without pay and no date of return😫
Denver was the one people were picking to win that 09 series
He was made for a big stage. He won a national championship and Olympic medal. He was a great scorer and his mentality. He wanted to win and showed leadership/ he would have performed well in the nba finals. I felt like he would have been clutch and elevated his play. Saying he was a bad teammate is bs. His game doesn’t cater to team play but he didn’t have the best teams around him.
Melo 👑
Barkley, Malone, Stockton, Ewing, Reggie, AI, Gary Payton, Nash…the list goes on. All of them are HoF and no shame whatsoever they don’t have a ring. Melo joins them now. Salute to Melo!
So glad they gave him his own segment.
The negative comment is not necessary today. Just appreciate his career.
They hated on Melo. His nba friends aint ish either.
This statement is indeed true...
@@Christopher-nl2kbhe still running up be hide LBJ he's 🥜 hugger
Legend forever ❤
Hey Nick…what happened game 6 in Denver with kobe though????
when nick pointed out that winning in the NBA requires marginal circumstances - that right there should make people understand why repeating or 3peating is so hard compared to winning sporadically. ie Tim Duncan winning 5 chips compared to Kobe's 5 chips.
People always criticize melo but dude never had a stable franchise, talent, or really not even a true 2nd star around him other than the 2 years with A.I.
Even melo fans know that is cap haha
Oh shut up, head all the help in denver and knicks.
@@LPjunemark Like who? Lol he had A.I for like 2 years. And that wasn't even prime A.I. tbh.
Man that pen exploded
Yall giving him more flowets than THE NUGGETS....😂😂😂😂😂😂
This man really said Melo was better than Kobe in that moment. Dear god.
Dude said melo was better than kobe in 09 take his credentials 😂
its not retiring if youre not playing already
People forget melo had an opportunity to possibly play for the big 3 heat or the bulls but decided not to because he woulda made like 20 mil less going to either place. Imagine if he didn’t prioritize money over winning.
I don’t like when people do that. Today is a day to celebrate melo. His failures or shortcomings is well documented and talked about. That has nothing to do with giving a man his flowers. The negative today is unnecessary. People that watch and love the show know basketball we know what he wasn’t today is about what he was. An elite all time great player.
Melo wasnt beating Kobe in 09 Nick that man was on a mission that year 😂😂
Melo should be a HOFer.
It would be criminal if he wasn't.
Too bad they didn't address the elephant in the room as far as his lagacy: if Detroit took him. Would have won at least 2 rings easily. Has to be one of the biggest WHAT IF questions in sports history.
Right no doubt about that.
Even when Melo lost, Nick remembered to still attack Kobe.
The biggest mistake Carmelo made was not realizing the big 3 Miami Heat situation. It was supposed to be him, Lebron, and DWade.
But the real tragedy of his career is not being drafted by the Pistons. It would’ve changed his career so much for the better.
He's been retired for a long time he didn't wanna admit it before
Exactly😂
Idk why people don’t like melo he is a great player
Cause he never won a ring AND that's all that matter to the internet fans.
@@emanuelsosa8 But rings aren’t everything scoring in basketball is the most important thing
@@emanuelsosa8he's LBJ 🥜 hugger LBJ dgaf about him
Melo wouldnt have to retire if LeGM would have resigned him
Carmelo Baby ! Legend ! So sick seeing him get his props here !
Nick is a clown for trying to throw shade at Kobe, Kobe averaged 34 ppg in the 2009 wcf, but let nick tell it Pau Gasol and Odom carried the team. UNBELIEVABLE
Its not just the no titles with him, theres no memorable moments at all. Match that with him being devoid of any detectable personality, nobody misses him
You should have paid more attention
Carmelo Anthony was a great offensive player but a great overall
He ended Linsanity.
I need one more year melo but happy retirement
That is true, it would've been really odd to bring up that Garden scoring stat if it wasn't Melo 🤣🤣
Undefeated while wearing a hooded sweatshirt while playing indoors in the summer💀😂
Wildes was outta pocket with that comment
Kobe said he was the toughest cover in the league.
Imagine the Pistons drafted Melo instead of Darko Milicic. That would have changed the entire LeBron saga because I don't think LeBrona Cavs would have beat the Pistons with Melo
Nick : “Melo was better than MJ and Kobe”
Nuggets are bringing him back!
1st ballot HOF
nick can’t be this basketball historian if he can’t remember kleiza 😂
Wait he was still playing?
Melo one of my favorite players all time. I always wanted him to be a warrior. Never happened smh
So what, basketball is more than just scoring. Those other eight people at least made an effort on defense. I know Dirk was not the best defender but he made an effort and he was a good rebounder. Carmelo was one-dimensional and people that have the potential to win titles are multi-dimensional.
Robert Horry should be HOF before melo
Hoodie melo 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Melo didn't have the patience to wait and make the move with LeBron.
Melo would be top 5 scoring had he not miss 3 seasons n i believe can still give a team 20 a game if given the opportunity.
I thought that he was already retired. 😂
Melo my guy salute but Nick is right he shoulda signed outright with NY, that trade gutted the team
2nd greatest Nugget EVER!
Nick wright is Awsome!😅
You've seen D'LO now in this series. That's how Melo had performed in his last season in the NBA. He was so potent offensively back in the day and he can still do damage in the twilight of his career, but the main problem is defense, it fell off like what you're seeing with DLO now. So Lakers right now, without them knowing it, has actually a retiring MELO on their roster.
2:22
Not true, the 2013 Knicks would have crushed the Miami Heat had they gotten past the Pacers, in that season, the Knicks small ball matched up very favorable against the Heat and in the regular season, the Knicks swept the Heat.
didn't the league retire him 2 years ago?
Carmelo = Money over unrealized potential..🤔
🐐
Ill miss that three to the dome 3 point celebration. At least lamelo still doing it lol
Had one of the most polished offensive games but not much else. Will be be remembered similar to T Mac in the grand scheme of the NBA?
Amare was never healthy with the Knicks actually and that was one of the biggest problems they had but Novak Melo and JR were so fun to watch! Also Pablo getting lit up for 50 vs literally every star point guard was a problem 😂
Mello been retired
Lol Imagine Melo getting drafted by the Pistons, instead of the Nuggets. He would've had at least 2 rings and as great as his career was, his narrative would've been different. But, that's sports and life
Melo was never better than Kobe regardless of any circumstance sorry to break it to you Nick

Melo deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame, but it was hard to watch his egotistic iso game that was never going to bring a team to a championship, to say nothing of his refusal to play anything resembling defense.
