Hello everyone! Welcome to this video!
Here is one of the rares movements of the year at Toronto Pearson Int'l and probably the very first time this airline has ever landed or "stepped foot" here; a South African Airways Airbus A340-642.
This aircraft came to Toronto Pearson in regards to the G7 Summit that was being in Charlevoix, Quebec on the weekend of June 9th-10th, 2018. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa had been invited as one of the guest countries to speak at the summit and a lot of my friends in Quebec had high hopes of an Airbus A340-642 coming in with the South African delegates and that is exactly how it happened but with one twist! A stop in Toronto! Completely unexpected to us but we were psyched when we found out!
The plan was to have Cyril Ramaphosa speak in Toronto on Friday, June 8th and then fly out to Quebec on the 8th while leaving some delegates here and then returning on June 10th from Quebec City and picking the delegates up and flying back to Cape Town. And that was the route, Cape Town-Toronto-Quebec City-Toronto-Cape Town. LGM1 landed as ZS-SNA on RWY 05 on the afternoon on June 10th and departed two hours later on RWY 05 fully fueled to Cape Town! What an awesome visit!

Enjoy the video everyone! And I'll catch you in the next one! :)

Thanks Bejamin. Oh yeah we sure were. Probably one of the first and maybe last times we'll see the South African Airbus A340 in Toronto.

What a beauty. Always wanted this jet to come to Toronto. Sadly haven't yet flown the A340-600 yet my all time favourite aircraft and they are getting retired already with some airlines.

Thanks! I couldn’t believe it when I found out it was coming to Toronto. Very lucky to have caught it and yes, very few of them remain now being operated by airlines.

This is definitely a rare find!
Living in Cape Town I get to see the entire fleet either depart or approach the airport here(I live 5nm on the 01 approach)
The A346 has and always will be one of my favorite aircraft ever. When I saw the video I had to watch it. The livery might be plain as someone pointed out but it's globally recognized from any point of view, very distinctive and represents everything in its livery!
Toronto to Cape Town must have been a long flight. Hope the president enjoy this. It sure is a pain knowing the A346 is being retired globally!
Awesome video! Huge thumbs up! 👍🏽

Geez that's a lot of airplane!! Amazing they squeeze that in by the North Lounge! Nice job Ernest! I was there getting snaps that day, probably the highlight of my spotting year for sure!

Thanks a lot! Yup, this aircraft and Iron Maiden's Boeing 747-400 is the largest I've seen fit in here. Definitely an amazing catch for the year for sure!

Mondli Msomi Nope. This was for the G7 Summit. President Ramaphosa gave a speech in Toronto before going to the summit in Quebec. This is on his way back when they returned to pick up other delegates.
