  • IN THIS VIDEO: Welcome back TH-cam! What an amazing 3 days this has been. I didn't go to school today too! On Monday evening a Toronto Star reporter asked me for a report, so I'm in the Toronto Star for the fist time! (Links is in the description). On Tuesday it was announced the departure time of the Mriya was at 12:00pm EST instead of 7:00am EST, a huge relief for us spotters and a giant YAHOO!!
Anyways, we arrived at Country Style today, 11:00am to meet up with some people and headed down to the Infield where we met the rest of the YYZ Spotters. The Mriya needed extra time to refuel and to fix engine pipes 2 and 5. On clearance it was announced he was departing RWY 23, not RWY 33R like many of us thought. So as soon as that was done it headed for push back tail west, opened the nose, put the tow bar in, closed the nose and then started up on apron. While doing so, we went on the road fro RWY 05 on Dixie Rd, to join the many of the rest of the spotters. And it was PACKED! This was larger than the Airbus A380-800 inaugural flight to my extent. You can see this in the video too.
The Antonov An-225 then called ground, with the follow me vehicle and headed out. CTV News and CityTv were also there, with CTV News bringing a chopper. The Mriya taxied on RWY 23, checked it's instruments before departing. That was the moment after it takes off over your head that you feel like a Plane Spotter or an AvGeek!! Amazing sound and aircraft fling right over your head, heading straight, empty to Leipzig. Awesome! The moment the Antonov An-225 flies over you is a "Mriya" come true for any aviation lover and enthusiast!
Thanks to TH-cam and for Toronto Pearson Aviation for viewing! And the rest of the groups I will share this too! Coming up soon, 300 subscribers shout outs! Stay tuned!

That's one awesome take off!! That rotation was epic!! Amazing to see how many people showed up for the beast!! As you said in the video: you know you are a planespotter when you have spotted the AN225! I hope I see it soon!

Thanks! They were loud, hopefully it'll come back soon. Have you ever seen an Antonov-An-124, they sound almost the same, a classic thing to note, as soon as an Antonov will pass you, there will always be a whirring sound that follows, one of my favorite things about their engines.

'ive seen this beast 3 times at EMA. First time i got some superb video of it taking off on runway 27 right over my head. it is an incredible experience to see and hear it.

+Markko122L Indeed. Lucky. I would love to see this bird again since I've now got a better camera to get it with and better equipment. It sure is an experience of course, and it was phenomenal considering it was the first time this aircraft landed in Toronto.

hi ernest great to see you face to face so to speak! this video was amazingly good! this plane is so massive I cant imagine what it would look like up close. glad you had the opportunity to get to see this rare event in person. the plane is beautiful in both size and paint scheme. are they still manufacturing these do you know? I realize that not many were made. nice to see a young guy like yourself interested in planes! thanks for the great video and all the videos you do. this was a treat indeed! rob

Thanks so much Rob! Yes, face to face :D This was truly an awesome moment for any Toronto Spotter! This is the one and only left in the world, there was a second one made but was decommissioned in the 90's.

Cheers mate! I appreciate that. Yeah I’ve come a long way. Personally I wish I could have started professionally but my channel kinda serves as a timeline to see what I’ve started with and what I became with it. It’s been a fun ride and there’s so much more to come.
