My dog has THRIVED on this food! He is going on 12 years old and has had his share of medical issues. He has more energy, is more alert and his vet stated that he has never seen him look so good! I highly recommend this food and I think we've tried them all. This one is by far the best.

I have two small senior dogs and have been concerned about inflammation so I wanted to reduce their carbs; Last December I started giving them 3/4 Raised Right (rotating between chicken and turkey proteins) and 1/4 either canned sardines (packed in water/no salt or seasoning), or mix in 1/4 canned food. I would do 100% Raised Right but it does get expensive so I do what I can. I have noticed their itchiness decreased, and their stools are much firmer in a good way - they have previously been pretty soft. So far I'm very happy with the product, and both of my dogs seem to enjoy it as well.

I have been searching high and lo for videos of Raised Right videos and sadly, there weren’t much!
I hadn’t found an ingredient deck like this for gently cooked and after being on The Farmers Dog for almost a year…I was ready to upgrade my little guys bowl yet again.
I love that we got to hear from the founder himself and of course Rachel asked ALLLLLLL THE DAMN QUESTIONS that we needed to hear answered.
Placed my baby’s first order and I’m excited to see his health improve even more on his second year on gently cooked, minimally processed food.
Yet again, we thank you Rachel!

My dog just started on this food and she loves it! Would you recommend this food for a dog who is diagnosed with pancreatitis?

I rotate with three brands nowadays for my dogs and Raised Right is one of them. I really appreciate the limited ingredients because I like to add different veggies and treats/toppers sometimes to get more variety. I also really appreciate the lack of added synthetic vitamins and minerals. It’s more bioavailable and species appropriate, and I don’t have to worry about any accidental overdoses of things like synthetic vitamin D.

@laurenmichero9003 would you mind sharing what the other two you rotate with are?

    • @laurenmichero9003

@@JuliaTorgo sure! I give them All Provide (raw and gently cooked), Viva (raw but can be gently cooked at home), and Raised Right (gently cooked). They all have good quality ingredients and good sourcing, they all made Susan Thixton’s list of the best foods for dogs, and they’re all formulated and/or recommended by highly respected integrative vets. I also love Green JuJu treats, veggie blends/bone broths, and their goat milk so I’m probably getting some of their new freeze dried foods as well. They are limited ingredient foods with excellent sourcing and no synthetics. If you try their new foods too, then it’s best to rehydrate since the moisture was removed during the freezing process. I’m certain that will be in my rotation as well.
If you’re able to rotate proteins and brands without causing GI issues then I highly recommend it. It’s so good because they get those micronutrients from a variety of sources which means they’re less likely to be deficient in something. Also it helps them have a more resilient gut microbiome…not to mention mine would get bored eating the same thing every day. Mental stimulation and excitement over different foods is important too.
Hope this helps! If you want even more recommendations then I’d suggest looking into Susan Thixton’s yearly list of best foods for dogs. She also has a new best treats for dogs too.
Some of my favorites are CocoTherapy, Einstein, Dr Becker’s Bites, Farm Hounds, Momentum, Green JuJu, Wilderbites, and Woof.
As far as toppers go Farm Hounds and Raised Right have great organ meat toppers, Green JuJu and All Provide have veggie toppers (frozen or freeze dried), and Gussy’s Gut has a fermented freeze dried food topper which has great ingredients and natural probiotics.
      Hope this helps!

@@laurenmichero9003 Super cute! They are lucky to have such an educated pet mama! One more question for you, if you don't mind - we have had a couple of bouts of diarrhea. Do you have any go-to's for that that you like? We add the Native Pet pumpkin powder from time to time but he doesn't like the taste and won't eat it when he's got an upset tummy. Hopefully when we regulate a good rotation with food, we will have more GI stability but I'm still trying to have a good set of tools if/when things go wrong. Thank you so much again for all your advice! It's tough to find good products out there and our little one is very picky.

Hi Rachel, I feed my dog Farmers. I think its good. I would like to ask you about dogs getting worms. My dog got worms twice as I couldn’t find anything natural to prevent worms. I did resort to meds from the vet. Do you have any thoughts on this subject. Thank you.

Thank you for a very informative interview!
I feed Raised Right to my two cats everyday. I mix it with another wet food because of them not liking the spearmint. I had to start transitioning with 5%, now up to almost 40%! Adding a little slightly warm water helps, too. After they eat, empty bowls! 😃
I do have one concern. I noticed the blueberries aren't shown as organic on the package. I looked again on the website. Thought that all your veggies and fruits are organic. Unfortunately, I was mistaken. Must've been wishful thinking.
Conventional blueberries are one of the fruits on EWG's list that are very frequently sprayed with toxic pesticides. #11 on The 2024 Dirty Dozen™ list. Please use organic blueberries in the future.
Also, I would love to see more varieties for cats!!! Right now, there are only four - Turkey, Turkey with Pumpkin, Chicken and Chicken with Pumpkin. While dogs get to have Beef, for instance. Honestly, as a cat parent, I feel that cats are not getting the attention that they, too, deserve on Raised Right as much as dogs are.
This interview would have been much more pleasing for me if it had been about both dog and cat food! I keep hearing dog, dog, dog. Mostly discussions about dogs/dog food and hardly anything about cats/cat food. 😢 Hence, the title "Best Dog Food on the Market?!" Why not, "Best Pet Food on the Market?!"
Overall, everything else is great and I'm very happy to be feeding Raised Right to my two CATS! 😻😻

They really need to add a duck and lamb version. Turkey and pork are very allergenic for many dogs

  • @user-po3mh4dy9r

This really does sound like a great food, but at $450/month for a 50lb dog,, I can't justify it. I make my own food from premium human food components for about $200/month. I can buy quality ground chuck or even premium cuts of lamb for about $6/lb. The wholesale cost of these meats is less than half of that. I hate to make an issue of this, I realize this food has to cost more, but how do we get to $15/day? These foods are simply out of reach for the vast majority of pet owners, so once again we are back to no real solution.

I’m using Ollie dog food. I used Farmer’s Dog my ate it for 2 months then stopped eating it. Then tried Just for dogs food.
