I love a teardown. I learn more on a teardown that when I do anything else.

Lots of stuff to remove from the outside just to get to the engine block. Pretty cool video. Thanks.

I run a 1986 Toro Mower with this engine. It take 5 pulls of the rope on choke to start. The upper crankshaft bearing has play in it. I thought about getting the crankshaft main bearings pulled and replaced and new end seals. Problem is I don't know if there are aftermarket seals available. I did find new piston rings if I want to go to the trouble.

Thanks for the video. They look to be pretty simple engines on the inside thats what I like about most 2 strokes is there simplicity. Its a shame you can't get parts for them anymore.

Good how to video. The carbon buildup around the piston and the wrist pin tells it all.

Frickin' "green" did away with these cool machines. I love my 2 stroke ... just get it tuned up every few years. I'm not mechanically inclined so I guess its not worth a tear-down at the shop?

Thank you for the tear down.
I have one of these engines which I'm about to put in a pitbike, how would I go about locking the governer in place or eliminating it? Cheers.

Cool teardown video. I dont see any 2 stroke Suzuki engines in my neck of the woods. What did it power. THANKS.

Hello, These 2-stroke engines were used from the early to mid 1980's through around 2004? I could be off a couple of years. They were most notably used on Toro Commercial Lawn Mowers and Snow Throwers. I have a Toro Commercial Mower I saved from the scrapyard, 1985 model with zero safety features. Start the engine and the blade turns, remove the bag and engine still runs. It is really ugly but runs. They were called Widow-makers due to the dangers. I also acquired a Toro 2-cycle Mower from 2000 which is the top-of-the-line in their offering. It is a Model 22043. They will run almost forever. Mix the gasoline 40:1 or 50:1, keep the air filter clean, and they never die.

    So, was the engine scrapped?
    What was it in?

Please put the engine back together. This engine will still run.

Oh yeah it runs real good on 30 pounds of compression

@@THEMOWERMEDIC1 Can you replace the piston and connecting rod?

You used to be able to but the parts are no longer available
