Matt is clearly a proper nice bloke. And not shouty about his money etc. humble. Lovely collection of things that he is sentimental about. Great episode
I watched this late last night, I dreamnt about it going to bed. I woke up thinking about it and have come back today to comment- This is the Best car cave... Hands down! Got it all - great choice, great specs, everything any of us would ever dream of owning and love the absolute holligan machines in there too. Love it!
Matt's car sheds . . . . . whoa, brilliant . . . . . well done Matt & Jonny . . . . . this should be a weekly TV show . . . . . BBC are you listening ? No more Top Gear, I could settle down and watch these two guys every Sunday night at 8pm no problem. Thank you . . . . . .
A diamond geezer as they say! What a nice guy with a great passion. A brilliant varied collection of buy what you like. Great video Jonny, please keep them coming along 🎉🎉
The owner is a freeking badass. I've never been so impressed by a car collection in my life. What he's done with the cars is incredible. He reminds me of a friend of mine from Essex. I never knew how he earned his money and I never asked. But there's something about each car build that's got that schoolboy 'I wanna drive these cars' vibe. Absolutely incredible. I'm so jealous it hurts. Total respect. The man is a boss for sure 🙏🏾 Johnny these barn finds are just getting better. The content is sublime 👌🏾...
I think the bigger problem for most is having the convenience and joy of the land and sizeable garage to even have some sort of collection, out of sight.
I learned to drive manual on an ‘88 RX7 convertible so this one always holds a special place in my heart. Beautiful timeless design. Quite rare these days.
Thanks for sharing this amazing collection with us. One of the best collection videos I’ve seen. Some of them I, or a mate have owned at different stages of my lifetime. I’m 54. Doesn’t hurt that Matt seems like a bloke I’d enjoy a beer with. Awesome 😀👍🍻🎯🇦🇺
What a great collection. Who doesn't love an 80's box arch :) Love the 'scort as well. A person with who i used to work with purchased a couple of those Tomos scooters for him and his wife from the Kays catalogue. I think they were £399 each if i remember :) You had to Pre-mis the 2 stroke oil and fuel.
Great guy and thanks for letting us see his collection. I agree with Matt. My favourite is the Escort. I have loved Escorts and Cortina’s since I was 5 years old. When I lived in England. So when I see them in Canada it makes me happy!!
Love it. Clearly someone who has had to pick carefully rather than have the money to just buy whatever they want whenever they want. It's nice to watch both, but this guy gives everyone a bit of hope. ✌
It's not always about money. I would have this man's car collection over just about every other car cave collection I've seen. The cars are all so driveable and epitomise why these cars were so sought after back in the day. But nowadays you see these cars restored and some just look like stuffed animals. They look great but are too perfect to drive. Matts's collection looks so much like they used to look. He seems to have captured the driver's appeal and somehow frozen it in a timelock in all his cars.
Awright John! What a geezer! What a great video that was TLBS, just a couple of car guys chatting 🙏🏻 Awesome collection and character to match, what a great way to spend a day😆
Absolutely love Matts enthusiasm, he’s doing exactly what I dream of doing, I even look through the websites even though I can’t afford the motors. 😊 Keep living the dream Matt 👌 And thanks Jonny for another great video 👊
Nice collection. You can spray the seats with Lysol, and with the steering and surfaces with it to keep away mold. Once a week, just spray the interior with Lysol and it will keepaway the mold/mildew.
Omg a starion ❤ love these. A friend I used to know had 2 , a narrow body 2.0L and the wide body 2.6L. I had the pleasure of driving both , bloody fast, rear wheel drive and a hand full when on boost.
Firstly Great Collection ! For me the White Quattro followed closely by the Escort Mexico / RS or the Black 240Z or I could just keep listing them all. MAGIC
there’s 3 businesses that epitomise a “diamond geezer”, pub landlord, car dealer, gym owner, this guy has done all 3 😂. Some lovely cars here, for me it’s the standard Z and the white Quattro.
What a collection. Way more appeal to me than a garage full of supercars. I love the stock 240Z as a former 260Z owner. I also had an AE86 back in the early 90s I absolutly loved that car but like he said they are silly money now. Still awesome though Favorite from this colelction has to be that 240K
What a lovely collection, and Matt seems like the kind of bloke you feel like you've known him for years when you've just met him. Interesting stories with each car too.
Probably my favourite Car cave ever, with the exception of the two Mercs I want every car there. Favourites ? Its a 3 way fight between the white 240k ? Skyline, the White Quattro, or the Mexico
Id say the best ep of this series, I am always refreshing my page waiting for the new EP and i am never disapointed! I loved an earlier ep where u were on a farm I should think, lots of integrales and Renault 5 turbos, proper beasts, but this one blows everything up to a whole new level, what a beautiful collection, I would give my soul for that black 240z or the red one, they are my dream cars since I was 10 years old, they were so popular in Portugal in the mid 90's all my uncles had one or two of them as well as sierras cosworths but the datsuns stayed in my head, for the owner if you ever decide to sell the red one, i can try and see if I can afford it :D I am in suffolk, so not very far, haha big big thank you for this EP John loved it!
Great video as always. But for me the best thing was the opening scene you Johnny seating on the Tomos bike. Because Im from Slovenia where Tomos were made was nice to see that bike in Britain and it took me to my yought when I had a bike exactly like that in the video. 😊
❤ the skylines ,i worked on a few early silvias from the era of the skylines, all my friends are jdm mad and all have a few imports they were trying to persuade me to go jdm about 5 years ago, i bought a mk4 astra coupe turbo instead and ended up with a trio of vauxhalls, i sold my chevette about 2 years ago and went jdm and bought a 2002 hijet that im just getting ready to start the fitting up parts then MOT and bodywork, i sold my mk4 astra 2dr sri hatch full irmshir kit recaro interior, sri-t rear wing . My coupe is staying in garage semi permanent and the van will be my daily, I live in central London so the coupe is expensive to run the hijet has Toyota hb engine and really economical and more eco friendly
Funny one - as soon as I saw the glimpse of paint and wheels of the mk1 escort in the intro, I knew the car. Then when you introduced the owner as Mat but it didn't look like the Mat I knew, I thought "there must be another Mat with exactly the same colour Mk1, same stripes, wheels etc." Then when he said it had a yb I was like "it HAS to be Mat". Sure enough, I think it is him (I shot and featured his car nearly 25 years ago at Epping Forest Country Club)... Time hasn't been kind to me or Mat it seems 😂 (joke). Good to see him thriving and still wheeling and dealing, hope his sons well and life is good 👍
I not seen a stock Datsun 240z motor for over 30 years. It is a lovely thing. One of the better motors of the 70s, but placed in a brilliant car for it. A relatively light car with a manual transmission, but it was affordable. Normal people could buy it. And it looked great. It's still a pretty car from every angle.
yes, but ... what made the 240Z so good was that it was a relatively unstressed car as stock; but put some decent triple carbs on it, stiffen up the suspension a little, and it transformed into a very quick car.
Jonny this is the best Car cave by far to date. The skylines are amazing and just make you want to spend a tonne of money finding one. Although for me the white Audi Quattro or even the red one are my personnel favorites'. Bravo to Matt, great guy.
Matt's SL 55 AMG has an aftermarket front grill and rims. I also have an SL 55 with the P30 performance package. Mine is an '07 US model. SL's with the P30 option were very rare. It was a $14000 option in the USA. The P30 package added SL 65 bumpers and brakes along with an oil cooler, an alcantara AMG sport steering wheel, a locking differential, retuned (stiffer) active suspension, 19" multi piece rims similar to the SL 65 and the limited top speed was recalibrated to 300 kph (186 mph)
My brother's first car was a Mitsubishi Starion, and the car I learned stick on. I still have a great fondness for them an am always looking for one or the Chrysler version of them. Awesome collection!
The Skyline 240K GTS (in both four door and two door form) have always been popular in Australia. That Mitsubishi Starion has got to be the highlight for me though. They were sold in Australia, but I can't remember the last time I saw one. Extremely rare, I would say.
6:58 thought I recognised the first Datsun. I remember working on this at Nik's house (maybe 4 or 5yrs ago). Nik was absolutely passionate about this car, its authenticity and every single detail. He spent some time showing me around the vehicle ❤
Was just thinking this couldn't get any better then suddenly it cut to the overspill garage 😆 Absolutely brilliant video, one of the best for a while. I'd love to know a little bit more about Matt, and his journey in business or hobby to building up such an intense collection of masterpieces, top energy all round
Always loved the R30 and R31 Skylines. They used to be a pretty common sight down here in Aus (at least, the 'regular' models, and the 4-cyl Pintaras, they built them here) but I've not seen one in years. Would love to have one, with an RB30.
I've never made so many noises of pleasure and nodded in agreement so much during a TH-cam video, great collection, when i saw the Tomos, I laughed and said Kays catalogue, pretty sure thats where they were sold, back pages 🤣
Oh wow, just an amazing collection of cars, & yes the Starion is truly a rarely seen car, hilariously the Highway Patrol in Australia used them back in the day, thanks as always Jonny, what a great guy, Rj in Oz
Schoolfriend's mum had a Starion from new in white just like that. Used to park it outside our house to walk her daughter up to the school (they also had a sublime W123 estate in pale yellow)
The white Skyline looks so tough and is my favorite of his bunch. I worked at a Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth dealership in the late 80's and we had 3 of the Chrysler Conquests. I got the opportunity to take one for a ride to fill the fuel tank. It got a little light in the front end near the top of the speedo. 😉 They are beautiful cars, but the timing chain setup needs early maintenance on the 2.6l Mitsubishi engine. Johnny, we also had 2 of the Chrysler TC by Maserati come through the dealership. I have not ever seen any since. To my knowledge, they had a Maserati cylinder head on the Chrysler engine and had some Maserati paraphernalia in the interior.
My late Uncle first car was a Mk1 Escort RS, however I was told it was a very rare car, being somehow a Mexico, with the RS2000 pinto, in sky blue with dark blue graphics, he got it from the Dealership in the town I grew up and my grandmother worked there, her first car was a company car, I think it was a dark blue Mk1 Fiesta
Great collection. My 1990 B4 Audi Quattro Coupe in red also had the famous oxidising paintwork. After numerous polishes I have to get rid of it as I knew the paint was perilously thin.
Always interesting to see a collection and how it came to be. We all have different ideas of what we WOULD have. Fun to be introduced to people who actually acquired them...
😅 I know two geezers like him and I love them both, proper old school, solid as rocks. Brilliant episode and what a cave, not jelly at all 😂. For me, a real hard choice but I'll take the escort as long as you throw in the chopper to sweeten the deal, cash tho, yeh ? !
Another great episode thanks Jonny, wouldve always been the mk 1 escort but.. the 240z electric conversion you showed really put me onto them ,so its got to be one of those
Love the answers….
What’s the story?
No real story….
Then proceeds to tell brilliant story 😂
What a nice bloke Matt is and thank you Jonny for taking the time to show us this wonderful collection.
Matt is clearly a proper nice bloke. And not shouty about his money etc. humble. Lovely collection of things that he is sentimental about. Great episode

Wow, thank you. Glad it made your dreams (but not come true, soz)
@@TheLateBrakeShow This car cave is what dreams are really made of! and forgot to mention Matt, what a legend. Thank you (John hehe 😉)
Corr.
That all-black modded 240z is lovely. The early Skylines look so good too.
I think it's green?!
It’s racing green
Matt's car sheds . . . . . whoa, brilliant . . . . . well done Matt & Jonny . . . . . this should be a weekly TV show . . . . . BBC are you listening ? No more Top Gear, I could settle down and watch these two guys every Sunday night at 8pm no problem. Thank you . . . . . .
first episode Matt & Jonny off to Japan to bid on cars . . . . .
If you enjoy this then the last thing you should want is the BBC anywhere near content like this.
It's probably one of the best car collections I've seen on here. What a nice bloke, not big headed at all, and also saving classic motors.
This guy is living his best life and it's incredible. What a collection, what a thoroughly SSG.
A diamond geezer as they say! What a nice guy with a great passion. A brilliant varied collection of buy what you like. Great video Jonny, please keep them coming along 🎉🎉
This edition hasn’t even really started and I’m already in awe of this guy
Matt has taste...

That red Datsun. I think they are one of the loveliest cars ever built. This garage is epic.
That 240K is stunning. I think this could be the finest of all your car caves, Jonny
I'm clearly failing at life. How the heck does anyone get this much Dosh to afford these beautiful cars.
He sniffs out cars at the right time and sometimes does deals on them. But remember this entire garage is probably worth less than a 3 year old Aston.
@@TheLateBrakeShowgood point, well made!
I think the bigger problem for most is having the convenience and joy of the land and sizeable garage to even have some sort of collection, out of sight.
Yeah I've often thought that when I watch ....
The white Quattro and the standard 240Z please!!!
That red Quattro, outside mint, inside Stilton 😂
What an absolutely stunning collection! Thank you!!
I learned to drive manual on an ‘88 RX7 convertible so this one always holds a special place in my heart. Beautiful timeless design. Quite rare these days.

On that side of things, I’m loving the “Woolarding” on the early Skyline.
Matt = charisma personified 😎 What an interesting watch - a superb collection and great backstories 👌
MK 1 Escort every time for me , my first car was a 1972 K reg MK 1 1100 L , a MK 1 fitted with a cosworth must be amazing to own !
Genuine guy👍 fair play for sorting his mates Quattro👍
Love the Skyline R33 floorpan swap Z 😍
Full marks Matt. Fifteen seconds in and, the best looking shed for a fair old while. Shed/barn.
Excited to see what crops up next. Thanks Jonny!
What a genuine guy Matt is. Great collection and a humble bloke.
I was an apprentice at a Mitsubishi dealership in the 80s. The Starion was my dream car back then.
For me, this is the best car cave to date. Every car in there tickles me the right way.
That 240z was so advanced in its design for the time! Still gorgeous all this time later!
Great collection enjoy them. Thank for showing.
What a bloody nice chap! Awesome collection as well 👌
I had a Starion in mid 80s, brought back so many memories. Most of which I could never share.😜
Cracking collection! Love these barn find / cave episodes! Cheers!

I don’t think I could pick a favourite in this shed, so many good cars just as I like them, purposeful and aggressive looking.Great episode👍
What a cool dude! Excellent video as always, Jonny!
A+ taste and a genuine, down to earth person.
The all black 240z!! 🥵😍🤩 Just awesome.
At the age of 52 and loving cars, this a fabulous collection, if I could add one car, it would be a Lancia Delta Intergrale.
He's either a plasterer a plumber a builder or a dealer. 😎
Nice collection. You can spray the seats with Lysol, and with the steering and surfaces with it to keep away mold. Once a week, just spray the interior with Lysol and it will keepaway the mold/mildew.

Some lovely cars here, for me it’s the standard Z and the white Quattro.
Love how the guys got his bike tns on what a guy this car collection is so different love how versatile it is
I've been "victim" to boredom bidding myself! 😂 Woke up with a hangover once and an email to say I'd purchased an Alfa 164! 😂
Woke up one Sunday morning to Congratulations you've won a GSXR 750 LOL
Best car cave video by far. The skylines are out of this world, fantastic
What a collection. Way more appeal to me than a garage full of supercars.

That dark green Z is so perfectly nodded, that's a piece of art. Wow. I haven't wanted a car that much ever.
That Skyline Japan is incredible, I never knew they were exported as the 240K. Such underappreciated cars
Funny one - as soon as I saw the glimpse of paint and wheels of the mk1 escort in the intro, I knew the car. Best car collection ever!
My favourite is the 240z mainly because I have a lightly modded one.
Matt's SL 55 AMG has an aftermarket front grill and rims. I also have an SL 55 with the P30 performance package. Mine is an '07 US model. SL's with the P30 option were very rare. It was a $14000 option in the USA. My brother's first car was a Mitsubishi Starion, and the car I learned stick on. I still have a great fondness for them an am always looking for one or the Chrysler version of them. Awesome collection!
All of them are amazing, but that 3rd gen Skyline and the Escort MkI are the best ones❤
The Skyline 240K GTS (in both four door and two door form) have always been popular in Australia. That Mitsubishi Starion has got to be the highlight for me though. They were sold in Australia, but I can't remember the last time I saw one. Extremely rare, I would say.
The Datsun 260Z because I own one with the same wheels on it in and it was in a metallic blue colour. So so much fun quick & missed it too bits.
Lovely bit of Woollarding at the 16:00 min mark. Lovely stuff.
Great to see the Starion turbo at the end. Remember that the New South Wales (Australia) police had them for highway patrol
'Nuremburg ring' what a wonderfully dodgy geezer!
Absolutely fantastic JS, love these videos and the stories they tell.
Matt seems like a top guy, glad enthusiasts like him are still thriving.
Awesome my first upgrade from a push bike was a Tomos moped loved tootling around with my mate and his AR50
I love everything in the collection just perfect - the Audi Quattro is my favourite
6:58 thought I recognised the first Datsun. I remember working on this at Nik's house (maybe 4 or 5yrs ago). Nik was absolutely passionate about this car, its authenticity and every single detail. He spent some time showing me around the vehicle ❤
You need to do an episode just on the dark colour Skyline with R33 floorpan swap. The car looks like a beast and is very cool!
Was just thinking this couldn't get any better then suddenly it cut to the overspill garage 😆 Absolutely brilliant video, one of the best for a while. I'd love to know a little bit more about Matt, and his journey in business or hobby to building up such an intense collection of masterpieces, top energy all round
This is one of my favourite car caves so far. I love some of the modern sports/super/hyper cars but almost every car here is a gem. ❤
Love the car James, what a bargain and well done for saving it from the scrap heap 👍🏽
Woollarding ! , haha , what a collection!!!
Oh my 5mins in and its automotive porn 😂
🤣🤣🤣👍🏾

Bob Hoskins living his best life, & the black tricked out 240z is a thing to behold
I've never made so many noises of pleasure and nodded in agreement so much during a TH-cam video, great collection, when i saw the Tomos, I laughed and said Kays catalogue, pretty sure thats where they were sold, back pages 🤣
Great show keep them going
Oh wow, just an amazing collection of cars, & yes the Starion is truly a rarely seen car, hilariously the Highway Patrol in Australia used them back in the day, thanks as always Jonny, what a great guy, Rj in Oz

Johnny, we also had 2 of the Chrysler TC by Maserati come through the dealership. I have not ever seen any since. To my knowledge, they had a Maserati cylinder head on the Chrysler engine and had some Maserati paraphernalia in the interior.
i used to have a 240k skyline GT in black on the old V reg brilliant car owed lots of datsuns the last one being the 180B SSS Coupe .
Such a knowledgeable & passionate Guy.
The 240z ❤❤❤❤❤
Im green with envy.

What a collection and what a nice bloke! He's clearly lived a bit. I bet Matt's definitely got some other non car related stories too.
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode what a chilled out top bloke
A nice bit of Woolarding going on there.
Spotted that on the Skyline right away!
Great video if ever Guy Richie makes a film about Cars he’s got the Main Character here and it’s not you Jonny!😂
I thought Bob Hoskins was dead 🤣. Matt seems like a top guy and someone you could chat about cars with over a pint and a game of pool!!
Definitely can't get him to fix anything with you.
I was just about to say “BOB HOSKINS” from The Long Good Friday 😂
