3:15 guy literally took inspiration from one of, if not the best guys in the muscle car/hot rod/resto mod scene for chassis work specifically (and their full builds are F'ing 👌🏼)... the Roadster Shop guys ... absolutely sick crossover thought process 👍🏼
Always blows my mind that folks don’t film their builds more. Perfect opportunity to grow a channel with a wicked build and theirs nothing to subscribe too really.
@@cghoward70 I wouldn't say awkward, seems like a introvert that loves his work and is pretty driven to get things done, no fuss kind of guy. I can relate, I'm pretty much the same way when I'm in the zone, last thing on my mind would be to document my work and slow things down.
I talked to him while he was building it. Honestly filming takes so much time and focus away from what you are doing. Best thing would be to hire someone to film but even then they can get in the way and sidetrack you
I had a conversation with the builders Dad. He told me about the car. I checked it out and found it to be a very nice clean car. The details are what really makes the car special.
And 4:25 sick... the "hand bent" (flame bent) titanium header.... I wish I still had my Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird... I spent _years_ sourcing a bunch of obscure TSR/Technical Sports Racing Japanese parts for it, they only made parts for my bike for a very short second as the CBRXX was more of a "hyperbike" or "hypertourer" as compared to the typical Super Sports bike CBR1000RR.... and they specialized in endurance racing in Japan...but anyway, they made full exhausts for my bike, but I somehow sourced either one of their super early pieces, or even a prototype, but the entire header was hand bent titanium, thin walled, huge primary sized, 60.5mm collector, with the most gorgeous flowing bends.... I had the only header they ever made like that, every other header or full exhaust they made was both smaller diameter, and "machine" bent on tube benders..... I still have pictures of my bike and exhaust, but it looks very similar to this... except of course, I actually rode my bike so my entire header was heat blued and the bluing went all the way past the collector up until my silencer, which was a full titanium Ladybird silencer made in Suzuka hung with a Ladybird hand bent aluminum exhaust stay.... I wish I never sold her...but I couldn't ride anymore and she just sat
Correctly designed long headers like that can create a pretty notable scavenging effect. They move gas through the engine and allow a more aggressive cam profile. This car isn't tuned like that but the concept is there to support the look
Beautiful car. Damn. I wonder how many people would never finish their projects and because of the SEMA rush end up pulling it together. There is no greater motivation than necessity.
Stunning build. Clean lines, well thought out and designed with style in mind over function yet still perfectly functional. Awesome job by the builder.
As a fellow Wisconsin car guy, this is exactly the type of thing you’d find come out of this state, just a down to earth Wisconsin local who takes zero pictures of his masterpiece as it’s built, great job bud!
Great build! I hope he raised the compression ratio of the det bottom end. SR16ve pistons will make it high compression. Even the N/A de bottom end is 9.5:1 c/r. The det bottom end has oil squirters but lower compression of 8.3:1 or 8.5:1.
Our first caf asa a married couple was my wifes 1069 1600 it as white, perfect except old owner had it on fat old tires....i swapped for a set of Pirelli radials, and she really sat in the corners!
Nice Datsun....Nice build. Cool that someone else also did a SR20 with sidedrafts...I did mine with mechanical links earlier this year...but mine is gonna be a tad different... well....alot different.Hakotora Super Silhouette with Alfa transaxle...hehe Cant wait to see where this Datsun ends up
Man I love the dudes BMW UTE idk his name tho ! The one that built the 86 with the awesome custom headers last year ! And Larry you need to get the UTE in there to !
I would be happy with a car half that clean. It's pretty sick if your older like me and see what these new generation of builders are doing to the cars we grew up loving.
nice coherent style ....the black/white engine looks sooo much better then orange ;) a smal close fitted bumper would look also good imo original 910-960kg ..... pretty heavy 4 that smal car
Toast some old style to the sconsinite! What a build. “I went by Roadster Shop and liked what I saw so I thought I’d do that.” Says only talented people.
i love the name butter welding... i'm old now but my nick name is butterballz and yes its naughty and funny at the same time...i've been hot rodding since 1974 and still get excited about projects like this...
Love this style of build and the model choice! Clean, well engineered, and not blinged out like some other ‘bitchin’ builds. Really like this one…👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
How does the VV-L work with carburetors 😂! It’s variable valve timing and lift, so as the cam profile is changing, wouldn’t the fuel ling be changing along with it?
I don't see why there would be an issue, carbs are simple devices. All they know is how much air is flowing through them and they put a proportional amount of fuel into that air. So whatever impact the VVL has on the amount of air, the carb adjusts for it so the fueling is fine. Of course you loose out on finer control over the mixtures, but that is a general carb problem, not a VVL+carb one.
One of the coolest cars I’ve ever seen. Props to the builder. Wow.
This ones a close second to the Totem Gt super, but both really are stunning
Beautiful...Larry should definitely do a follow up on a dyno and a drive on it curious to hear how it sounds and power figures
Yes! Bro the vvl set up must sound nuts
What a beautiful build! It is so nice to see what people are doing with Datsun Roadsters still. The suspension is so cool and I LOVE those headers.
i wish more builds this year ran great to see one running
Thank you Larry, once a gain for a wonderfull and honest interview! Let's get this guy to a million subscribers!
This is the flyest roadster build I've ever seen. I love the attention to detail on the rear fender wells. Miss my 69 2000 roadster so much. ❤️
3:15 guy literally took inspiration from one of, if not the best guys in the muscle car/hot rod/resto mod scene for chassis work specifically (and their full builds are F'ing 👌🏼)... the Roadster Shop guys ... absolutely sick crossover thought process 👍🏼
That thing is CLEAN. Perfect level of mods, the era-correct SEV Marchal headlamps are the icing on the cake.
A young gun building a Datsun Roadster. Amazing!
Always blows my mind that folks don’t film their builds more. Perfect opportunity to grow a channel with a wicked build and theirs nothing to subscribe too really.
Some people are just not comfortable with cameras and want to focus on their work. This young dude seems a little awkward.

True craftsmen are uninterested in showing others how rheir craft is done. Buy the end product, try to figure it out.
Filming is a whole different skill, respect to the guys that can focus on both, but in my case I find it getting in the way of building.
I had a conversation with the builders Dad. He told me about the car. I checked it out and found it to be a very nice clean car. The details are what really makes the car special.
This CAR IS INCREDIBLE!! The best "show car" I have ever seen...and that's A LOT of cars!! So subtle, so fantastic!
That is so clean,love it.

can't believe this is from Wisconsin. always cool to see great builds coming out of my home state
Amazing Work, WOW a little Toy to enjoy on a Daily basis!!
Love the build!
1:39 is amazing: yup … yup … yup …
Beautiful car. Damn.
I wonder how many people would never finish their projects and because of the SEMA rush end up pulling it together. There is no greater motivation than necessity.
Thanks for the detailed interview Larry. Very nice car & creative build.
This build is incredible! Attention to detail and all the fab work is mind blowing!
Stunning build. Clean lines, well thought out and designed with style in mind over function yet still perfectly functional. Awesome job by the builder.
Absolutely gorgeous Datsun Roadster very simplistic, mechanical, and the attention to detail is on point🤍🤎
As a fellow Wisconsin car guy, this is exactly the type of thing you’d find come out of this state, just a down to earth Wisconsin local who takes zero pictures of his masterpiece as it’s built, great job bud!
Incredible build! Thanks for featuring it Larry.
next level.every inch of the car has been expertly crafted.

Really nice Datsun Roadster...great build.
An Inspired build. This is the car combo that Tommy Kaira failed to envisage. Cant wait to see and hear it run.
Stunning.. just stunning .. SO GOOD !!
wisco bboys with the ELITE builds
Beyond ‘Wheeler Dealers’ on Discovery 🔥
Beautiful. I wish someone would post all the datsun's at Sema. I have seen quite a few in other pictures! Larry I hope you found the 620 also.
So clean, I love so much about this thing 👍
Amazing build, great stuff !
Our first caf asa a married couple was my wifes 1069 1600 it as white, perfect except old owner had it on fat old tires....i swapped for a set of Pirelli radials, and she really sat in the corners!
Awesome custom build. Would love to hear how it sounds with the carb setup.
Probably my favorite all time build to date.
The exposed rear shocks are cool 😍
I love seeing these, thanks for sharing👍
I'm building my own V12 supercar 😎
This is such an amazing build! This guy really put work into this car 🙏🏽
I'd love to see whatever detail he has recorded on this build. I also would love to hear this thing driving around and opening up those carbs.
4:20 holy crap dude!!!
Beautifully done!! Would love to see a follow-up video of it being driven.
One of the best channels out there! 43VER
Very nice build! Congrats to the builder
Amazing work!
Nice Datsun....Nice build. Cool that someone else also did a SR20 with sidedrafts...I did mine with mechanical links earlier this year...but mine is gonna be a tad different... well....alot different.Hakotora Super Silhouette with Alfa transaxle...hehe
Cant wait to see where this Datsun ends up
As a Datsun / Nissan fan I am lost for words....WOW
Beauty of a classic car.
I had one once that I drove from San Diego to Denver and back. It was a great car, but really very different than this lol. This is amazing!!
Man I love the dudes BMW UTE idk his name tho ! The one that built the 86 with the awesome custom headers last year ! And Larry you need to get the UTE in there to !
He already did
One Talented builder, 👍Beautiful concept😍. GL @SEMA Conner.
Awesome build!
I would be happy with a car half that clean. It's pretty sick if your older like me and see what these new generation of builders are doing to the cars we grew up loving.
Wow love this one
nice coherent style ....the black/white engine looks sooo much better then orange ;) a smal close fitted bumper would look also good imo
original 910-960kg ..... pretty heavy 4 that smal car
Awesome built
What a gorgeous car. ❤
"Is there anything in the trunk?"
"Nah just a bunch o junk" 😎🍑
Darn, wanted to hear him fire it up!
I didnt even get to hear it! Wtf such a cool build.
That dash is impressive
WHAT A RIDE
So so clean
Connor is the MAN. ❤❤
What a clean sweet car!
The front end air dam splitter is awesome I want one for my roadster peace ✌️
Toast some old style to the sconsinite! What a build.
“I went by Roadster Shop and liked what I saw so I thought I’d do that.” Says only talented people.
Please do a follow up for after dyno. This thing is perfect
This was easily one of my Favourites 😭😭😭
i love the name butter welding... i'm old now but my nick name is butterballz and yes its naughty and funny at the same time...i've been hot rodding since 1974 and still get excited about projects like this...
Sounds great
What a beautiful car
What a pretty little car
I had one of these with an fj20 power 😊
Love the blend of America hot rod and Japanese, perfect
There’s a guy in Gardena that’s been working on SRs since the 90s and he has his Nissan 200sx sr20 swapped with carburetors :))
Now THIS is a build
Best wheels for a Datsun
Love this style of build and the model choice! Clean, well engineered, and not blinged out like some other ‘bitchin’ builds. Really like this one…👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Straight Bitchin! This is my favourite part about *SEMA - The New Builders. (Thanks for posting this)
Car is perfect.
Straight Rad!
Wisconsin
👌🏻🤘🏻
Now I have a new goal for my roadster build
Very cool car
Saw this on @Adamc TH-cam channel looks cool
Waiting for that Steve Nelson full Carbon Datsun build
flame bend sounds more like a witchcraft, which considering how that header look, it probably is. That thing is clean
A bolt in/removable cage and a hard top would be so sick.
Wish I could do this to my 2000 roadster. I need to get her out of the backyard first.
How does the VV-L work with carburetors 😂! It’s variable valve timing and lift, so as the cam profile is changing, wouldn’t the fuel ling be changing along with it?

Of course you loose out on finer control over the mixtures, but that is a general carb problem, not a VVL+carb one.
It's only Variable Valve Lift, not Variable Valve Timing, unless you convert it and incorporate a S14/S15 VCT sprocket.
What product lightweight sound deadening?
s2000 old school style !
Owned a 1969 Datsun rooster 2000. ✌️
No start and rev?
What controls the vvl with carburators 🤔
It has a haltech 550
Would love to hear this thing rip down a back road
need that Alibaba frame
This is like a retromod Nissan Miata on steroids. Does it perform as good as it looks? Would love to see a driving video of this.
