Good day fellow MMO enjoyers! I think i might be unreasonably excited for this one, so I've scooped up every grain of important information I could for you guys, while sharing some of my thoughts as well. I'm cautiously optimistic, how are you feeling?
Cautious optimism is definitely the name of the game, because oh man does this look great and they're doing a great job of hyping it, I'm just hoping Funcom can deliver on it.
@@tree0311 Saaame man, i actually quite like Funcom generally, though the game seems to be getting a lot of skepticism from the community due to Funcoms past.
@@dtoxslab yeah it isn't entirely undeserved, but I think that's where gamers heads are at these days, and its kind of indiscriminate. Funcom has definitely had success and Conan: Exiles is pretty great now IMO, but this is also a really ambitious project. Great job presenting everything objectively!

Because of Exiles, i am not expecting this to be beyond 20 ppl. That said, im fine with that, because me and my wife love playing conan exiles.

Almost every MMO that has instancing have ways to be in the same instance as friends.
They do, it just remains to be seen how jarring this might be. IE: "select instance 69 from minimap dropdown". Dunno, always feels icky to me in an MMO.
@@dtoxslab That’s fair. Implementation matters. Hopefully it’s something simple like as soon as you group up with someone you get a message. But yeah, a large drop-down list would be a pain lol

Excellent video, sir! Thanks for covering this so well. As a long time Dune fan, I was curious about the game... and this certainly whetted my appetite for seeing how this game goes! As an aside, SW:G remains the greatest tragedy of the MMORPG industry. So much huge potential in it (pre-NGE) wasted by a team making so many bad decisions!

SWG was one of the best MMO games ever made. They could literally make the same game set in the Dune universe, and it would be sick.
It certainly was my friend. Doesn't look like we'll get that level of inspiration in Dune, but looks like we'll be getting some fine nods to SWG from Joel in some of the games features!

@@dtoxslab I've been on restoration since CU era was when I started playing swg.
So will guns be mostly useless in the game due to the shields? If projectiles aren't useful and lasgun turn off that makes it seem like investing in guns would be a waste. Sucks because I was hoping to be a sniper. I'm not really familiar with Dune lore, but I am kind of wondering if I will be into it. I like to be an assassin or Mech-based engineer in games. The dragonfly looking robot caught my attention, but I really want to see what my options are in building a character before I invest in the game. The type I can build will decide if I play it or not more than anything.

Didn't think about that, that would be sick if those were some of the trainers in the world haha.
In OG SWG, you didn't get skill points and put them in, you actually leveled up skills by using them.
I'm not sure what they changed after that update that killed the game, as I refused to play it at that point.
Yes you are right, i worded that wrong! OG SWG for life! No post-NGE crapola for me either. You'd earn skill points by using respective abilities/weapons, then max out that part of the tree before needing a trainer to progress. Good times!
@@dtoxslab Yeah, NGE killed the game. SWG is still my favorite mmo experience of all time.
This game feels more like pr for the franchise than anything else... and..... Funcom....
PR for the Dune franchise is a stretch, but like i said in the beginning, they're definitely riding the IP while they can!
