I remember getting a Tyco Spirit of 76 when I was a young man thing never ran right I'm glad to see you got yours up and going mine was kind of a disappointment but my Lionels always ran well and still do to this day good job
I have the identical locomotive sitting in front of my monitor. Mine has all of its handrails and the horns are black. One of these days I will get the courage to tackle the motor. Until then it will have to serve as a paperweight. I do enjoy watching your videos. You remind me of a younger version of myself. Keep on with your efforts. Best Regards, John Birmingham
great restoration SMT, here's a tip for all rolling stock use 33-inch flat car steel wheels for smoother running I got 3 packs of 50 from Rapido today 50$ CND each still have 1 left been upgrading all my new rolling stock with them can say all of them are rolling smoothly and great at low and high speeds smallest radius I have is 22 having fun changing engine every 30 mins so all get warmed up right. Congrats on one more Tyco engines to run again.
Maybe i should restore my Grandpa's old tyco spirit of 76 when i get back to NC, what do you all think, reply in the comments below... its like 3 1/2 months away.
Have you use purple power degreser , clean gear remove old gease grim , doest harm your Plastic. Make sure you use latex gloves, eye protection Tooth brush to clean your gear wheel , Scrub using a to tooth brush and soap and water let air dry
SMT - When you used the oil to lubricate the gears, did you lubricate just the metal pivots that the gears rotate on, the gear teeth, or both the pivots & gear teeth? Did you also clean & lubricate the wheel bearings on the non-powered truck as well? Looks like a good runner!
Have you check THE gear located ON TOP OF THE forth wheel OF THE hiawatha iF not check because mine had alot OF gunk and alot OF rivorossi locos have that
I used to have that very engine I still have its caboose but I don't have the engine anymore. Recently while getting to the basement of my late parents house I came across the box it still had the caboose in it my layouts long gone so the caboose which is basically laying in a box . Which I may very well be getting rid of here soon just in case you might be interested if I get rid of it.
I was wondering if you want to live stream with me on my TH-cam channel like we did before with Facebook messenger to connect and we can talk about whatever you want
You should see about new wheels for the cars. They will roll better and be easyer on the locomotive. I'm starting an n scale I been changing my cars makes a big difference
Good job Harris. I just repaired one of those and it runs great. There are no couplers on it and no place to attach them. I can't find any parts list or drawings for it. Any chance you can take a picture of the bottom of the truck or do you know what kind of coupler is supposed to go in there?
Smt be carful with you discord account you have to be active every week or so because discord will get suspicious and classify you as a bot then kick you
I love your repair videos. It inspired me to get back into model training. I 've been able to restore several locomotives by watching your restoration videos. Great job !!!!
I have a question about some of the repairs you make on those loco's. Is there a source that you can buy spare parts? Such as gears and motors and partd for motors?
Another fine job love to see those old girls up and running ! "That's The Spirit".
My parents bought me that engine for Christmas of 1976. It was on of the hottest Christmas items that year. I can still remember the commercials.
Nice! I just got a spirit of 76 today at a train show, but mines an F7.
