    A very good point was made about a way to make owners affected by the sudden value drop feel better would've been to offer something to like this for free. The problem is Elon Musk isn't caring or sympathetic enough to offer such a gesture.

    9:51 you forgot to mention track mode on the screen. That’s another benefit of getting a model wide performance. But I would like to do in the Juniper comes out, is upgrade my model three to a performance model, but then downgrade the wheels to 19 to save money, be able to do my rotations and get the most range.❤

    7:12 when you file your taxes, you can put it under depreciation since Tesla lower the prices. That way you can get some money back.

    I have the acceleration boost on both my 2021 M3 LR and 2023 MY LR. The MY LR seems to benefit most from the upgrade. I think because MY is heavier and needs that extra boost. M3 LR was quick anyway.
    In Australia the performance model is almost A$20k more due to taxes. So the LR versions are a better deal. Long road trips don’t seem to add to energy consumption (averaging 146 WH/km on a recent 500km road trip in the M3 LR)

    • @astateoftech
      @astateoftech  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I remember test driving the Model 3 LR and that still felt quicker than the Model Y with AB even though they would have similar 0-60 times. But agreed, never hurts to have the extra boost. 👌🏼

    But the long range has more range than the performance, it rides nicer too. For those not taking it to the track, still best to boost the long range in my opinion.

    • @astateoftech
      @astateoftech  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the extra range is negligible from a day to day standpoint. But all about perspective and what we value out of a car. 🙌🏼

      Negligible? What do you call track mode and track ready additions from a day to day standpoint? I'd say less than 5% take their M3P to any track, I'd call them near on pointless. Range or lack thereof is still the reason many won't take the plunge on an EV.

      Lol, when do you need to extra .6 of a sec to 100 over the boosted LR? Or the track ready gear on it? And you're accusing me of creating a silly argument? They're clearly making a Ludicrous model to replace M3P because it's barely even faster than boosted LR. There's plenty of vids on TH-cam proving so.

    I picked up the MYLR one week ago and when the price dropped (two days before I picked it up), I was seriously considering cancelling my order and placing one for the Performance, which would have been only $2K more. In the end, I decided that it's already more than fast enough, the additional range is nice and I get to pocket $2K.
    Regarding the $2K performance boost, it's simply not worth it. If you really wanted speed, you should have just ponied up $4K more and got the Performance. $2K more to only drop you 0.5 seconds. I already blow by people whenever I need to (merging onto a highway, getting past slow drivers). Any extra 0.5 seconds is like a 7'1" basketball player wanting to be 7'2"!

    • @astateoftech
      @astateoftech  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ya I had the same thoughts a couple of months after. But all good! We should just enjoy the Teslas we have haha. Also, it’s all about perspective - some people will place higher value on half a second drop than others.

    • @qitstrn
      @qitstrn 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For me it’s worth it. I skipped the Performance for the long range for several reasons. The larger wheels give a terrible ride. Tires are $200 more a piece. You can’t rotate them. Sport suspension also worse ride. You also get sport brakes that you never use. Always planned on buying the performance until I researched it.

    For an additional $2k you might as well just get the performance model upfront instead of the long range, the range difference is less than 30 miles and you get nicer wheels and sound system

    • @dontbanmebrodontbanme5403
      @dontbanmebrodontbanme5403 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nicer wheels, better sound system, better brakes and a rear spoiler. I agree with you 100%. I picked up my MYLR a week ago and 2 days before doing so, the price dropped $2K. I was so tempted to cancel my order and switch to the Performance, because it would have only have been $2K more than what I was initially willing to pay. In the end, quite frankly, I didn't want to go through the hassle of doing that and I instead just pocketed $2K!!!

    • @astateoftech
      @astateoftech  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So you buy a car, the car as a whole including all parts are yours but the engine is made slower so you can pay another 2k to get your car to put on everything it can do and everyone is just fine with it? Like isn’t it kinda stupid that you pay to get the full car of what you own? Also 2k for what? What does Tesla do? They send you an update. There is no value in that upgrade. It’s literally an update that someone sure had to work on, but that work was only to make more money by selling you the car basically twice??????
