i love Whitby .The last time i was there was by train .i got my heart pumping going up to the Abby though..Them steps were well worn out next to the hand rail . 1000s of people climbed that over the years
I wonder how many people have climbed over the years, thousands I imagine will have climbed over the weekend, imagine it's a big number. It's great going by train isn't it - haven't been by train for a good few years now. I'm hoping next year they have the campsite at the Abbey Showground dry and operating :) Thanks for the comment, all the best, David & Rachel 👍
Superb footage guys, we had our eyes peeled for you yesterday but missed you. It was crazy busy. Superb tour of Whitby, nice and quiet too, you really are early birds! A grave tale from the graveyard! Can smell those kippers! Cracking photos guys. We snapped a few of those characters too. It was a great day, sorry to have missed you! Nice cancer research guys. Even the Abbey was closed die to it being water logged. 👍
Thank you, we are so glad we went after it being water logged it’s a lovely atmosphere isn’t it. We also kept our eyes peeled but as you say it got very busy. Yes we got there bright and early, Roxy went into crèche as she’s not too keen when it’s so busy so couldn’t stay late unfortunately. It was very wet under foot near the abbey I’m not surprised they closed, hopefully they could still have the illuminated abbey, Hopefully catch you somewhere soon, thanks very much for watching - all the very best, David & Rachel ❤️
You’re most welcome, Thanks for the tip on the retro arcade, that’s been on the to do list since we saw your video and we had to go back 3 times as the upstairs was closed earlier. Love older machines 😀 great find!
Thank you so so so much it means a lot to get nice feedback 🩷 We love going to the Goth weekend, the costumes are just amazing and the people so friendly. Plus we love Whitby 🩷 Thank you again Rachel & David
I like whitby and found it friendly ,goths always brilliantly dressed easy-going, well mannered, you can see this in their possess for any one with a camera,,thankyou for showing this years video as we couldn't get there this year ,age and bad legs syndrome, hope everyone had a great time, maybe next year eh,
Hi thank you for you lovely feedback. You are right that everyone taking part enters into the spirit of the event and the time and effort put into the costumes are unreal. Oh no hopefully your legs will get you there next year 🤞🏻 Rachel & David
Thanks Em it was great - so much fun. Everyone puts so much time and effort into their outfits. 🩷 Thank you for your comment we really do appreciate it Rachel & David
Thank you guys. Whitby Goth weekend is always such good fun. The costumes are amazing and the people so friendly. Pity we couldn’t stay over but hey ho it was still a good day out! How long till the sun ☀️? Rachel & David
Great Video & costumes. I can almost smell the Kippers lol. I was there for 3 days a few weeks before Easter & included a Steam Train trip to Pickering and Goathland. Great place.
Thanks for your comments 💕 you couldn’t help but smell the kippers 😂 aaahhh that steam train is lovely isn’t it. We went on it many many years ago and loved it! There is something magical about steam trains 🚂 We love Keswick too - you can never tire of it as there is so much to see and do x Rachel & David 💕
Brilliant video, looked very busy, as always so makes for a great atmosphere 😀 Love the fact that people don’t mind been photographed just brilliant 😀😀😀 All the best Trev Debz and Tyler
Thank you - the atmosphere is amazing and the effort and creations people make are out of this world. I think most folk are ok being photographed if you ask permission, there are a few who prefer not to be which is there choice and on the video side same, I tried to not include any bits where people were obviously trying to avoid being filmed, It was absolutely cracking and so pleased we decided to go despite the camping being cancelled. Catch you in the week, all the best, David & Rachel ❤️
What a colourful weekend 😮 as long as you like black 😂 Great vlogs and well done for making the most of the weekend without your campervan. Safe travels 😃🚐 Trev
Thanks Trev, we are so pleased we did - we had been looking forward to it and we were gutted when we heard the camping field was closed due to being waterlogged. It’s an amazing atmosphere and some awesome costumes and Whitby always is great to visit (once you’re safely parked up 😀) Have a great week, all the best, David & Rachel ❤️
Whitby is such an amazing place but even getter on goth weekend. What an experience- the outfits are incredible & the people so friendly! Thank you so much for your kind feedback xx Rachel & David
Gill they were amazing 😻 everyone makes so much effort. And they were so friendly and really happy to have their photos taken. It’s a great event. X Thank you x Rachel & David
What a shame about the campsite but we have had some poor weather. Whitby is a lovely place. Is that a misspent youth David with the arcade games 😉. Those steps always a test on the joints but the views from the top are brilliant. It definitely looked busy.
Thanks Tim. Yes it’s lovely always enjoy visiting as great place to visit and lovely childhood memories too of visiting with the family. I love the arcade machines from 30 odd years ago as they were cleverly engineered as well as having some pretty cool software for the day. Something about electrical and mechanics coming together that fascinates me. When I was younger, I had to save up for weeks to go in the arcades and generally played 2p pushers or 2p slots - if you went on to the 10p you were spending too quick 😀 the pinball reminds me of Starwars one which was in the Town Hall pub at Richmond 32 years ago when I used to go and visit a fantastic friend there, we always used to have a go. Nostalgia 😀 Really pleased we went and hopefully next time in the campervan like last year. Have a great week all the best David & Rachel ❤️
We were booked onto the showfield too and were really looking forward to visiting Whitby this weekend, we opted to go north in our van instead as we thought Whitby would be too busy. Looks like you had an amazing time 💀🧙🧛
Hi oh no - it’s such a shame y it sent it. We were really looking forward to it too. The showground was really boggy so I can see why it was cancelled. It was busy but it was amazing! I love the costumes, everyone really puts so much effort into it. Hopefully we will all get there next year 🤞🏻 Rachel & David
Hi David and Rachel well done on a brilliant video which I enjoyed watching We also enjoyed going to the goth and steampunk weekend it’s a shame we couldn’t make it on the Saturday would have been good to meet you! We had a nightmare journey to my brothers from the midlands with the weather but on the Sunday we had a brilliant time despite the rain! It is amazing to see the effort which they go to and they were really approachable to ask about costumes and steampunk etc the boys loved seeing them and weren’t scared amazingly! Love Whitby it’s one of our favourite spots up there and always something to see and lots of lovely shops to look round and of course fish and chips and kippers! Well done on a great video sorry about delay in commenting been busy since we got home with work! Daniel
Whitby is lovely isn’t it and would have been great to have met you. Maybe next time eh. Some fantastic costumes weren’t there - Pleased the weather didn’t put you off - I hear there was some big waves there on the Sunday when the tide was in too. Thanks again for watching, All the best, David & Rachel ❤️
@@LeisureBit yes the sea was very aggressive on the Sunday and we went to go back on the a174 and road was closed at sandsend so had to go over the moor road again It’s a wonderful place and so glad we made it! The work which goes into the costumes is amazing some are so intricate the goths were so friendly and happy to talk which made it nice Yes maybe next time or if you are this way be good to meet you both! All the best and have a great week Daniel
Well at least Rachel had a coat this time😂😂That farmer must be crying in to his brew after having to close the field. Great smell across the town when Fortunes are smoking and the wind is in the right direction. Some fantastic costumes, would love to go but Mrs K wouldn't put up with the crowds, must have been a long day for you guys, I can guarantee Mrs K would have fell asleep on the way home, she fell asleep last year going over the Pyrenees and we had the roof down🤔🤔 Cheers K.
He has had to close it for the last few events I believe - that’s a lot of money down. We tried to get on get another site but not surprisingly they were all full! I did well remembering a coat! (I wasxwaaay to hot this year 😂😂) It does get rammed in those little streets by midday - I am not great with crowds so swerved the punch points when I could! I love the goth weekend! The costumes are epic and the people so friendly! Fell asleep over the Pyrenees??? And missed all that scenery? 😂😂😂 Rachel & David
Wow. I didn't know this was a thing, but it looks good fun. It reminds me a bit of the steam punk festival in Lincoln (which I would thoroughly recommend). I was promising myself a trip that way next year, so I think I'll book ahead of the rush now. Cheers, Tommo.
Thank you - yes we saw the steam punk festival in Lincoln on a video recently and that looked very interesting too - Would definitely recommend as great place and atmosphere 👍 All the best, David & Rachel 👍
David Having watched you Rachel and Rocky over the last year we have just PX a VW T6.1 for a 2021 CV20 Prestige dealer special looking forward to carrying out some of the mods that you have done over the last year.
Brilliant - I hope you have an amazing time in your new van - hopefully you’ll have some fun doing some of the mods too - exciting times eh - all the very best, David & Rachel 👍
An interesting legal point. If as usual the dvla refuse to change the description of your campervan to a motorcaravan, particularly a pop top, after conversion, which they absolutely do not include as a motor caravan. Does that mean that you can park it on south cliff, even though it says no motor caravans on the sign ? My log book says it is just a van.
It’s a really interesting one isn’t it especially based on the wording of that sign - would be interesting to see what specific legal rules that they have in place - annoying if they won’t categorise also - not sure why they wouldn’t as clearly sounds like a campervan. All the best, David 👍
I disliked Whitby and the Goths; the place I found wet and the people rude. They had the fine qualities which bore me - thrift and industry and long-faced holiness, and the young women are mostly great genteel boisterous things who are no doubt bedworthy enough if your taste runs that way. (One acquaintance of mine who had a Goths clergyman’s daughter described it as like wrestling with a sergeant of dragoons.) The men I found solemn, hostile, and greedy, and they found me insolent, arrogant, and smart.
