If anyone is having a hard time with this, I have tip that helped me start to make this sounds. Try singing the word "across" in your head voice and then add compression with your diaphram by by doing that "huh" sound he talked about in step 1. And then like he said, in the place where your uvula would bounce, your voice should start to break up a bit. Play around with the sensation till you feel all of the resonance focused there. At least thats how I found it but it still took me a long ass time. If it starts to hurt even a little bit, stop and try again the next day. Hope this can help someone.
@@Maschine_Elf I live in apartment and I'm still afraid to try this because my neighbors can probably hear me through the floors. So, it seems.. alot of us probably don't do alot of screaming in general. but if you ever recall a time when you did, you know how you got a weird itchy feeling in your throat? and it kind of tasted weird? whatever that is, that's what you're suppose to use for this. Luke Man Hopefully I can share the relief. Been trying to learn fry for 8 years to no avail. Eight years of trial and hard failure with zero improvement.
damn dude. I can say that my technique has changed slightly since I made the post. recently I stopped using any voice in it. just try to make noise with out talking. if you press your fingers to your ear drums you can hear very clearly when you're just making noise and when you're voice starts to creep into it. just be patient and keep your voice out of it.
Przemysław Jakóbczyk ehm you really think that girls cant scream? Maybe you should listen some music ahah A girl that can scream is better than a male.
Marge Simpson voice is the ultimate exercise. I lost my voice from being in an edgy grindcore band when I was in hs. Now I can only do belt yells/screams and have to use my nasal muscles to create the shake. Idk if thats even exactly the thing that is doing it but I know this. If you don’t know how to sing. Be careful, you can do serious damage to your vocal chords as well as your lungs. As it almost comes naturally to use your rib muscles at first. I sound like an old man lol.

I'm a chick, but a huge metal head and wanted to learn to do it (I'm an extremely quiet person and don't talk much, but...) I FUCK7NG NAILED IT!!!! 🎙🎶📢
Doug you’re a god damned legend, I never thought I’d be able to do this. But you put it in such a way that I finally was able to pull it off. I can’t thank you enough!
Tea is really bad to drink while vocalizing, it saps water out of your system and dehydrates you. Even worse if it's the kind of tea that has caffeine like black teas and green teas, because caffeine fucks with the muscles in the throat. Water water water. That's all you should be drinking.
Another piece of advice for beginners, is to make sure you keep your vocals hydrated. Not only while practicing scream vocals but even after mastering a lot of the more complex scream combinations. Otherwise, the outcome is way worse than just being sick. Tearing your vocal cords is not a fun thing. It is one of the few types of bad news any vocalist could be told; when a specialist tells you that you won't be able to sing or perform for the rest of a tour. Not to mention, it took years before I could finally start building my vocals up again. Slowly but surely, I will have my vocals back in gear like they used to be back in the day.
Great lesson! As a guitar player I really never wanted to do vocals because I dont like being tied to a mic on stage. Recently I decided to try singing so I could start songwriting and adding vocals to my tracks. This lesson really helped me, you explain very well. Thanks!!! ☯️🙏

Doug Zed hi I know this is kinda odd to ask but how do you get the uvula to bounce? I'm still working on it and so far so good on the other steps, but that's the only part that I'm having trouble with. I'd appreciate some feed back thank you!
Can you also do a tutorial on low sounds, like growls and gutturals? Have been doing those for years, but still don't know if they are done correctly. Feel no pain and it sounds amazing so I guess it's fine, but just for reference :)
hey ,if anyone else needs to find out about learn how to sing really good try Sovallo Singing Fast Fixer( search on google ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my friend got cool success with it.
Oh thanks man! I've seen a lot of scream tutorials but this is the best one! Hell, this is the first one that actually shows you what to do with your throat to scream!
I showed my sister some screamo and she was like “how do they do that” and I, vexing the very *edgy* girl I am was like “oh it’s all controlled, like it’s not actual screaming” and moments later we found ourselves watching this video and dying of laughter
It scares me when I think of how Chester from Linkin Park (rest his soul) did his screams that sounded atom splittingly good and how long he held some of his notes...fry screaming is hard to master and sound great but when it's done to Chester or Austin (Of Mice & Men) level that's satisfying On a side note I remember tryin' to mimic the singer from We Are The Empty but forced to sound waaay more louder without a mic and speakers...ended up wrecking my voice cause I tried singing clean vocals like Justin Bieber, Chris Brown and Usher but nothing came out then began coughing so yeah
Man the internet is great. A thought occurs to me and 2secs later I'm watching an excellent video on how to scream which this gentleman has taken the time to make. Thank you. I can think of no negative aspects of the internet right now.
I'm a singer who's been trying to learn how to properly scream FOREVER. I've never seen a tutorial talk about the uvula bounce before and I think this could be the missing key but I can't replicate it either...A video on how to do this better would be super appreciated!
Vibrating the uvula. Can't even do the chewy noise and the small amount of tutorials I've seen don't help. My body naturally wants to make a similar noise by doing false chord/tuvan throat singing techniques which is pretty damaging to the voice.
I learnt how to scream just by testing different things out. Got to the point where i could go for hours on end without even feeling it or losing it and not feeling anything the next day and actually sounding not bad. Pulling from the chest and not the throat but i got sick for a couple weeks and lost my voice through being sick, then listened to music, pushed myself too far and lost my voice completely. Couldn't hit anything at all. since then i can't even get the technique right anymore and i've forgotten completely. I'd have compared my voice to Winston McCall from Parkway Drive so different fry vocals to this video but similar concept. From my experience to anyone watching, never push too hard. 5 minutes is sometimes plenty. If you feel any strain you should probably relax. This was a very good video though and one of the best i've seen. Simple and easy. Well done man :)
I tried to learn it by myself for years now because the only tuto I saw was not helpful at all. I hurt myself so many times just to try to do it and couldn't figure out what was wrong. You really helped me to see how to do it and now, with all I experimented and what you just taught me, I'm able to combine it all. I finally am able to scream! Thank you so much!
Yes. It is also the same while attempting high spectrum throat and chest bass notes in beatboxing. But, with continuous practice, you will grow a tolerance for the heavy vibrations.

Finally a real tutorial simple and usefull!

Wtf 😂😂😭💀💀 i tried. Now im drinking tea trying to fix what i have done😭😭💀💀
Tea is really bad to drink while vocalizing, it saps water out of your system and dehydrates you. Even worse if it's the kind of tea that has caffeine like black teas and green teas, because caffeine fucks with the muscles in the throat. Water water water. That's all you should be drinking.

th-cam.com/video/cenB-5eC4mM/w-d-xo.html here another scream lesson in just 30 days.
he spent 30 days to scream
Thanks!!! ☯️🙏
My uvula actually sticks to the lining of my throat. I can never do that ovula moving.

Who's here to see if he really screams "Butthead sucks!"
It scares me when I think of how Chester from Linkin Park (rest his soul) did his screams that sounded atom splittingly good and how long he held some of his notes...fry screaming is hard to master and sound great but when it's done to Chester or Austin (Of Mice & Men) level that's satisfying
On a side note I remember tryin' to mimic the singer from We Are The Empty but forced to sound waaay more louder without a mic and speakers...ended up wrecking my voice cause I tried singing clean vocals like Justin Bieber, Chris Brown and Usher but nothing came out then began coughing so yeah
The best intro to this i ever found. Such a great practical approach.

Man the internet is great. A thought occurs to me and 2secs later I'm watching an excellent video on how to scream which this gentleman has taken the time to make. Thank you. I can think of no negative aspects of the internet right now.
But how do you bounce your uvula?
Xii Zephyr Chewbacca
I'm a singer who's been trying to learn how to properly scream FOREVER. I've never seen a tutorial talk about the uvula bounce before and I think this could be the missing key but I can't replicate it either...A video on how to do this better would be super appreciated!
gnarly sniff I usually do the Chewy voice with my tongue
Xii Zephyr what part?
Vibrating the uvula. Can't even do the chewy noise and the small amount of tutorials I've seen don't help. My body naturally wants to make a similar noise by doing false chord/tuvan throat singing techniques which is pretty damaging to the voice.
best, tutorial, ever. Simple, short, and very useful
Thanks man :)

Yes. It is also the same while attempting high spectrum throat and chest bass notes in beatboxing. But, with continuous practice, you will grow a tolerance for the heavy vibrations.
