I remember when I was at LP's concert, and there was that part when people were getting ready the whole stage, the crowd was waiting for band to come in, and some music was playing in the background. Then everyone just stood still hearing a huge raw scream from behind the scene. That was Chester, warming up, with his voice piercing through the whole playback music and crowd noises which were obviously very loud. Yeah. That's how powerfull his voice was.

    You're an impressive teacher...
A lot of people react to this legendary vocalist but they either end up criticizing him too much _(which gives them obvious hate from LP fans, lol)_ or they just keep on saying how good he is without properly going into the details of what Chester actually is doing...
Many believe that Chester was born the singer he was but that is so far from the truth... He put in countless hours perfecting his art which made him how good he was... So, when someone at least attempts to properly explain what he's doing _(like you did in this video),_ that makes it a lot easier for many singers to learn to sing better, especially for people who look up to this iconic singer...
    Keep it up... :)

    • @DebEternity

      @@enbuscando
Singing or vocal skill isn't something people are born with. Sure, there are always exceptions but, singing in general is 90% skill. Actually, I believe it's more than 90% but I'll play it safe because these things start huge debates amongst vocalists, haha.
When you look at a skilled pianist or guitarist, do you think that they were born with amazing wrists or fingers or forearm muscles?
No. You probably think that those people love music a lot and they have spent thousands of hours into practicing their instrument. They weren't born as a skilled pianist or guitarist, but they've become one after years of practice & experience. They may have longer fingers or a very flexible wrist, but that alone isn't enough to make one a skilled musician. There are plenty of pianists & guitarists who have fairly small fingers.
It is exactly the same with singing. Someone being born with an amazing singing voice isn't true. A lot of people think this way because they can't see what a singer is doing with their vocal muscles inside their throat, and so they assume that the singer was born with some special muscles (vocal cords) or something like that.
Also, it's not necessarily true that someone needs to be able to precisely understand the very details of how the muscles work in our body that are associated with singing. If you're able to carefully listen & then mimic what a singer of your liking is doing, you'll be able to make a sound similar to that person. Don't try to rush the process and try to keep in mind that the professional has likely spent years into dedicated practicing, and you aren't likely to learn all of that skill within a few months of half hearted practice or something like that.
By the way, Chester had professional singing & screaming lessons, in case you were specifically wondering about him. Chester was a very intelligent guy, and it was evident in his singing & artistic achievements.
Now, wheather or not he was born with an intelligent brain with a very high IQ is a whole different topic of discussion, lol...

Could you go more in depth into the other ways Chester can sing too? His clean chest voice on songs where it's not quite so "feathery" is also amazing, like in Waiting for The End. And I would LOVE to see a video on his screaming voice. I did a cover of Blackout on my channel, which I kinda disregarded all pitch for and it came out alright, but his scream has so much pitch in it but is more of a scream than a yell.. it's so hard to describe, but it doesn't sound like any other singer's scream I've heard. I can get some of his lower register more growly screams, but not the higher ones.

...I'm afraid when people want to know "how to sing like Chester Bennington", it's not about imitating his tone and mouth shape. Btw a suggestion for a future video: I'd really love to see an analysis from you on Brendon Urie. He's such a colorful singer too and I think it'd be a great commodity for an "in depth" video like this.

He's of course in a mix but I think he's using more head plus chest mix than more chest plus head.
I think you Chris are slightly more in the higher chest mix on this. Hitting the same notes though.
More head in the mix and a little less chest with good forward placement would, I think make one sound like him.
Great content as always mah man.

      @Werewolf914 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah The Rev had a really unique voice, as far as I'm aware I don't think he ever did the songs live, maybe he did and I never saw it. but he had his other band 'Pinkly Smooth' that was a really funny band that he did with Synyster Gates, and you get to hear way more of his vocals in it, I highly recommend their song Mezmer, I believe that's the song where he plays part of the piano from the A7X song "Warmness On The Soul" but it's been a very long time since I listened to his band.

I think Chester had a light lyric tenor voice like MJ, Jeff Buckley, Geddy lee, Jon anderson etc. Stylistically different, of course. As a light lyric tenor myself, it feels natural to sing in the lighter, feathery style of those guys than say, Robert Plant, Steve Perry or Freddie Mercury, who have more weight and warmth to their sound. Where other tenors are trying to lighten up and shed weight, I'm trying to add more weight, it's weird.
