    Awesome 👏 so nice to see them reusing a building to meets their need. So many fire departments spend millions on one station which I can understand but seeing this is so cool. More departments should do the same if they can.

    Great way to save the community some money, the township I’m in has built numerous huge new stations but most of them but one sit with only a third of the floor used. Makes a nice but expensive place for the on duty personal to park their vehicles

    Be interested to hear about how they train out of this station. Seems like parking lot drills or just simply pulling the truck out and running equipment is not possible here. Cool conversion but hopefully they have money in place for a nee build when the lease is up.

      There were a lot of arguments when the original three volunteer stations in Manheim Township "merged" into MTFR. Neffsville had red trucks, Eden was yellow and Southern MT I think was green (I could be wrong on that one). In the end they decided on Blue as it matches the local School District and PD colors and was neutral from all three former fire departments.

    I don't like the sound of a three person engine company. Minimum crewing of four people seems alot better.

    • @HeroesNextDoor
      @HeroesNextDoor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s actually fairly common here in PA.

    • @emergencyservicestributes
      @emergencyservicestributes 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HeroesNextDoor Honestly didn't know. Where I'm from which I'll give it is an entirely different country (New Zealand) our minimum crewing for a full time station is four per truck. One for a tanker and two for HAZMAT/Command. For volunteers over here anything that is three people or less is considered short crew and comms is notified.

    • @ImNorm29
      @ImNorm29 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they typically respond with two apparatus out of the four total stations, so they would normally have at least six people on a call

    One of the reasons why fire depts are short staffed is you have to have a high school diploma which is ridiculous I do support fire departments but not that

    • @davidzook8569
      @davidzook8569 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Much of the required training in both fire and EMS requires lots of reading and studying. Not that people who didn't graduate are bad at these things or that graduates are automatically good at these things a diploma is an indicator of success probability. It wouldn't serve anyone to enter into expensive training if their probability for success was low. If someone is determined they could attain a GED and maybe even take training on their own to show tenacity and diligence.
