    Not bad although you should use a rust preventing etch primer on the steel as oxidistion can occur within 1 minute of being exposed to the humidity, good etch primer coupled with silicon would be great, tou didnt protect the hole saw hole ;-) good fit though good kit 👍

    Nice snorkel, good fit. If you are going in to water deep enough to be needing a snorkel, you should also be thinking about fitting diff breathers to the diff housing and gear box.

      Hi - i got to admit i am pretty new to this off road stuff so welcome and advice. I will look for a source for these items - or please share if you know a good source. The other thing i am not sure about is the exhaust - should we have a valve or raised exit on the exhaust.

      I got 2 hilux, MK 2 AND A MK 5. Where I live it can flood to where it starts to come in under the door. If it's that deep I use the MK 2. This has no breathers or snorkel, I just take the top of the air filter off :-). The reason I mentioned the breathers is I was reading about them the other day on the HPOC site. The temperature change can cause water to be drawn into the diff and gear box. As I only take the MK 2 in water I'm not that fussed about it. Some people even have a switch to disconnect the Rad fan so it won't break if it hits incoming water. Can't say I've heard about a valve or raised exit on an exhaust. I usually stick it in 2 wheel, don't lock front hubs, but engage low range. This way I can rev it up with out going fast, the pressure cause is enough to stop water coming in. The other thing is never stop!!. If you join HPOC there are loads of people on there that know a lot more than I do about deep water off roading. They'll be only too glad to give advice, and the good thing is it'll only be related to Hilux. HPOC=Hilux Pickup Owners Club.

    Well if and when you get more in stock I'll pop over and have a chat. I'm only in Cirencester. Cheers

    I would suggest not using silicon, which is for roofing etc. Always use a polyurethane based product (usually black in colour) for automotive work as it will resist the high temperature and vibration environment when driving. That is why silicon is not used for sealing windscreens.

      Hi - this is a good point - PU is a good alternative. Silicone is easier to remove but PU adhesives are better - a good choice would be "tiger seal"

    You forgot to block off the factory drain at the bottom of the airbox

    Hello, I like your videos very well. I saw in this video that the capo is subject by two dampers wanted to know if you could give me information and if you have the video where you install them thanks.

      Hi Alex - yes we call these "bonnet struts" and there were an accessory i fitted. I think i have ordered some of these kits from Asia but may be a while before we get them in stock . Check ebay for "bonnet strut" and you may find them !

    Do u really need to drill the 3 holes on the pilars? I saw somone just used adhesive and silicone to hold the tube in the pilar without drilling it.

    • @jaybajan
      @jaybajan 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i would highly suggest you drill the holes. i have been tangled in bush vines when off-road, and if that was just adhesive holding the snorkel on to the top, i would have ripped it off, the 3 bolts are very necessary

      I would rivet them on, far better than plastic clips

      Sadly no - we got some kits returned to us - where people appear to have removed the S rubber ..... so we are missing a couple here !

    The reason why some people mount the snorkel head with the opening backwards is to avoid two things.
    1. Excess water from heavy rain when driving fast. You would be surprised about how much water it can ram into the snorkel.
    2. Dust particles. It gives you a fighting chance to at least avoid the larger particles flying around.

    • @L663
      @L663  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with your 2 points but just a couple of points to play devils advocate...
      1) Some water in the intake is OK - it increases your volumetric efficiency and performance.
      2) The air filet is still in place so although it will need checking more often it should prevent large particles getting into the engine.

    I think I'm gonna buy one of these, and apparently you guys are in South cerney. Could I please give it a crack making you a better video? I'll address comments made about this video and a few tricks I would use to make it a lot less painful to watch! No offence meant btw, I'm gonna get myself one. Quality looks good but you could sell a few more units with a slick video.

      Hi - We are indeed in South Cerney - we dont claim to be the best video makers / best accessory fitters so your comments are in no way a surprise / offensive. We are located in South Cerney. We dont have stock of this item at the moment - we have sold out !
