Push the plastic wing keeper centre pins inwards slightly and the legs loose their grip, this then allows the mushroom part to pick out with figures. No need to break anything
Would seem tempting to paint the bare metal edges you've left with the drilling operation. I would imagine removing the snorkel now you'd be looking at oxidation from the SS fittings.
Good job can I just mention the original ducting to the air box as a very loose push fit join where water can get sucked in needs sealing up with tape or glue
