I always felt like the Celtics wouldn't be able to get over the hump with Marcus Smart as their starting PG. The Celtics' brass deserves more credit for making that decision.
KP is a loss for sure. But he only plays 20 minutes as it is, and the Celtics did just fine when he was on the bench. They can clearly win 2 more games without him. They have been used to playing without him all playoffs, and routinely throughout the season. This isn't like they lost an anchor where they have to somehow change their entire style. JB, Jrue, White, and even Horford were giving the Mavs nightmares on defense. It wasn't just KP. They still have an elite defense without him. JT is bound to have a good game this series at some point, and they aren't going to shoot 25% from 3 every game. There are too many weapons on the Celtics and too many great defensive players to limit the Mavs. I see Celtics in 6. 7 possibly. You know Luka/Kyrie are going to will at least a game or 2. It's their surrounding teammates that can't be trusted.
@@hardworkingcriminal4873 Sure, but again, I said KP was a loss. It's just not a series changing loss already up 2-0. Others will have to step up. Particularly Al and rest of the starters. This team still has 2 All NBA players that are 2 of the best 2 way players, and 2 All Defensive players.
I still have Boston winning, too, but I’d push back against this not being a series changing loss. It changes Boston’s scheme on both sides of the ball in non-Horford minutes. They will not just switch Kornet onto Luka like they do with Al. If they do, the Mavs are going to go after that every single possession offensively. On the other side, Kornet can’t shoot 3s so this lets them put their big on him. That means no more using Jrue Holiday in the dunker spot (or whoever else is guarding Kyrie). The Dallas bigs can help off Kornet on all these drives and they can stay close to the rim because they don’t have to respect his shooting. It completely changes the scheme on both sides of the ball because you no longer have a 5-out offense and you no longer have full switch-ability defensively.
I mean if they continue to double and triple team him Tatum will continue to struggle to score… but he’s passing, defending, and rebounding so well that they’ll still win.
@@eliyarrows2456 Tatum is not passing that well. He has shooters everywhere and the kick out pass is always available. To his credit he has made the righ play, most of the time, but he's slow to read rotations and can't always find the easy pass. About the defense, Tatum hasn't really been that impressive. He's been the favourite target on Luka Pick and Roll besides the big men. But of course, if you play 40+ minutes, being 6'8 and athletic, you are going fill the rebound box
Tatum is not sucking his shooting has been off due to his wrapped wrist which he did not get the surgery on still! He just need to keep attacking the rim and make FTs while making plays for the team! Neemias need to come in a be a walking double with AL to play some double big so JT can be at 3 and JB at 2 and have either Derrick and Jrue to be on the floor at all times!
This is just a blip on the radar for the Celtics. It it a loss? Yes! But, let's not forget that Boston won all of their earlier series comfortably WITHOUT PORZINGIS! And, he was very instrumental in game 1 and game 2. Boston will be fine they have MORE than enough weapons to get this series done in 5 games. He will probably miss Game 3 and be back in a limited capacity for game 4. I'm STILL taking Boston in 5...they have too many other weapons.
Did those teams have a Luka? KP didn't play & Rick got outcoached & utilized his players correctly. There is no way Pascal should have got only 7 fts total in that series. He could have play through P more especially when Tyrese went down.
I see people talking out of both sides of their mouth about Boston. One side says Tatum and Brown are top 10 and 20 at best and Tingus is an injury prone liability and White is a role player, then the other side of their mouth is like, Boston is a joke, this title won't count, they're too good. It's wild the talk around this playoffs. Celtics only had an easy run in the East because they didn't have to play the Celtics.
@@Mr.Majestic77yes they do. They haven’t played Queta at all these playoffs and the Kornet minutes have been iffy. They literally just play horford more minutes and occasionally put Tatum at center rather than playing these dudes.
@choikkan7734 Nah, yall blew it! KP is a keeper. Even if he is only available a few games in the finals or a few series in the playoffs. He is a high impact player the second he steps on the floor. Offensively and defensively
I didnt think he was going to play at all, and I was pretty sure they were going to win - he gave them a jolt and they won two games easy. If he's able to go at all, they might sweep - if he's out entirely, Dallas might grab a game? I dunno, Mavs are so outgunned, and so basically out-skilled. And I dont think Luka is going to play better going forward, dude is exhausted, and battered - he's gonna get his points, I dont think that will ever stop, but he does so much more than that, usually, and he doesnt seem to have any extra, now.
all the injury will.mean is that, fornthe Nba to.make.sure the celtics are fully healthy, theyll now be sceduling 11 days off between games, instead of 6
This will not matter. Porzingis left in Game 2 in the 3rd quarter and Mavs still lost. I would love for Mavs to win but it seems like it is going for a sweep. 4-1 max. I would love to be wrong but it really seems like it is over.
Life is sometimes unfair but I guess that’s just how it is. We’ve all seen guys go through hell sacrifice their whole careers and never win one and then there’s guys like porzingis that just get to celebrate one with very minimal playoff help
Folks want the Mavs to have hope but this series is over for one Tatum about to get his shot back and go crazy and we’re just as good if not better without Porzingis. We get to say we won without our 3rd best player lol
They dont need him. This team is historically STACKED and EXPENSIVE. Thats why no one will care when they win. Not an impressive legacy defining finals run as compared to Dirk for Tatum and Brown..sorry but its true
They are a completely different team without him. He creates so many problems. Having a 7'2" player that alters lobs and shoots from 3 is a cheat code. They lost games to bottom tier teams like the Heat and Cavs when he wasn't there. I still think they win the series but it will make things very interesting if the Mavs take game 3 and KP ends up missing the rest of the series.
