I couldn't do more than 2 days in a row because of pain from detox/acidity so I ate one meal and did 2 more days, ate once and did 2 more days.
I felt some benefit and stomach shrank.

Only 2 weeks in up to 18 hours of fasting, working my way out to 24-36-72h fasting. I feel like my brain has become 10 years younger. I compare my energy now with my teen years though. It's amazing!

I just had the worst constipation in my life 😭 my intestines are paralized, I don't feel any peristalsis nor do I get a signal as of when to empty my bowels. I was not responding to stool softeners or laxatives, or ani inflammatories. I had to externally CREATE the peristalsis as well as doing pelvic floor exercises and tons and tons of yoga similar workout. It's getting better but I had to quit IF 🥱

You don’t have to buy expensive store bought ginger juice, which will conation additives. Make your own - peel a knob of fresh ginger, finely grate, place in sieve or a tea teaspoon strainer, pour over hot water, squeeze or leave to steep. You can add lemon.

I make my own keto flatbread every day and as it has evolved, it has turned into a super food. It contains turmeric, ginger, garlic, cayenne pepper and cinnamon. The rest is made from coconut flour and almond flour, with ground flax seed, psyllium husk powder...with added real butter and coconut oil. It's high healthy fat and fills me up to the point where I don't even think about bread, pasta, rice, potatoes or noodles anymore.

@@shadowwalkers6212 Here's my flatbread recipe - I hope it helps.
      1 tbsp coconut flour.
      1 tbsp almond flour.
      1 tbsp Psyllium husk powder.
      1 tbsp nutritional yeast.
      1 tbsp ground flax seed.
      ¼ teaspoon baking powder.
      Mix dry ingredients.
Add a melted knob of butter.
      Add warm/hot water and mix.
Begin tossing until it forms a sticky dough.
Place in an oiled frying pan and flatten.
Fry on low/med heat for 3 or more minutes.
Flip over and 3 minutes again.
      Keep flipping until browned.
      Serve and enjoy.
The flax seed and nutritional yeast are optional, but I add them for added taste and extra nutrition.
Try experimenting with different gas settings to get a softer bread, or a crispier bread. Try baking in the oven to make a crispy pizza base.
I think I need to upload a video of this to my channel lol.

@@shadowwalkers6212 also look up keto muffins. The thickener for those is an egg. The psyllium husk does the thickening for the flatbread. I'm quite lazy and I should research more recipes but those muffins and flatbreads replace conventional carbs...like bread, pasta and rice. They bulk my meals out so I only need to add meat and vegetables. It's well worth doing it for the results and health benefits.

I have a habit I’d like to share: I use a large mason jar with a thick plastic straw and lid for my water to drink throughout the day, I use lemon slices which I put in the jar and just fill up with water, I peel and chop up ginger in large batches which I keep in freezer for easy using, I blend a couple tablespoons of this frozen ginger with water and pour this in my lemon water. After a couple days of the same lemon slices I then just blend them with peel and all in the next ginger water blend and pour it all into the jar with more water. Then, in go a fresh sliced lemon in the jar for a couple more days. I love this 😊😅😂😂😂

I was diagnosed as type two diabetic with an A1C of 11.6 back in October 20th 2023. I followed your advice and have cured myself from my diabetes. I stopped taking my meds for over a month and have kept my sugar levels in the 80’s and 90’s. As an experiment, I are three slices of pizza yesterday and checked my sugar every 30 minutes. Mind you, I’m not on any meds. The first reading was 118, Thirty minutes later it was 128. Thirty minutes after that it was 64. Thirty minutes after that it was 94. It really does work. I’m living proof.

This is very helpful. I got amazing results with the Paleo Fast: 36 hours fast/ 12 hours feed. Lots of weight loss and autophagy. The weight disappeared painlessly and I had to set a phone alarm letting me know that it was time to eat. I had trouble keeping myself dressed. As soon as something arrived that I had ordered on line, I had dropped down another size. My doctors were thrilled with the weight loss, but mortified with the method as I am on daily medications that are meant to be taken with food. Now I can eat on a FAST day!

I start my day with a hot tea made from fresh ginger, fresh turmeric, pounded in the molcajete with black pepper and then i steep with monkfruit extract. I also did want to chime in and say there's a lot of studies that show that the magic of turmeric is found to be SIGNIFICANTLY better when sourced from raw, fresh turmeric, as opposed to dried form. I once calculated the bio availability and beneficial compounts found in the two and if I recall, an effective dose in many studies was 40 grams of fresh turmeric equivalent and you'd have to eat 200 grams dried to get the same effects. That and also, black pepper magnifies turmeric's ability, significantly, as well.

You are building your fasting muscle! great job! perhaps fasting snacks will help you as you begin.
New research says, for beginners in order to train to fast longer they can have a fasted snack 2 hours before they have planned to break their fast. With a fasted snack you are healing and training body to be metabolically flexible. Some people need hacks every now and then. 😍

Quercetin (which is in Tumeric for example) is a great supplement as well. It can replace benedril as well for a duration of about 3-5h and after taking it for a year your minor allergies will pretty much be gone and stronger ones faded. I started 1.5 years ago (600mg/day) and I cannot remember the last time I felt any random aches or sore joints. My mother at the age of 70 also has lost all of her joint pains and she had a lot of them. Just keep in mind that it takes time for the full effect. I commented here as Quercetin also does autophagy and cleans you up. I also take 5000 IU Vit D3 and 200 micro K2 and fish oil every day.

After my first 72 fast i noticed a significant improvement to a long-term achiles tendonosis issue only ruined by a recent stroll on a pebbly beach which probably moved the tendon in too many directions simultaneously ,so lesson learned there.I'm also less inclined to cookies and sweet stuff as if the 72 period has totally re-set the gut-flora which now rejects these 'culinary' assaults.
I'm guessing those stem-cells would be inclined to gravitate to areas with good blood flow such as the aforementioned achiles tendons but since they BEGIN their magic tricks at the 72 hour point, i'm guessing a 4 or 5 day fast would be the best option for dealing with more 'trickier' issues, in my own case,Trapezoidal trigger-point pain, but the 72 definitely impacted there as well, the pain became more dispersed which suggests healing mechanisms are activated.Fasting is the only game in town and Dr Mindy without doubt is it's finest ambassador.

I had several issues which I made better or eradicated. Now in my mid 50s I feel MUCH better and have NOT been sick in YEARS. I personally avoided the doctor because they don't learn much about nutrition and hide the real cause with pills or jabs. I feel much better now about my health than I did 20 years ago. The Wim Hof method and lots of garlic probably have a lot to do with me staying healthy as well.

Love your energy. A couple of things came to mind I'd like to mention. Chaga isn't technically a mushroom, but for some reason, it's called that. Sardines might appeal to you if you find tasty recipes that include them. I like trying canned sardine recipes, and just made one for breakfast that was delicious. Lou Corona has a website and TH-cam videos that show you how to make his delicious recipes like Lemon Giner Blast, nut and seed yogurts like coconut almond yogurt. I like to add some to my kale shakes. Gorilla milk and so many more healing recipes. Lastly, I'm concerned about intermittent fasting while on HRT. I take my progesterone at bedtime and my Estrogen and thyroid in the morning. I used to eat between 10-4. I'm in a relationship and our dinners are now around 6pm. My window now is between 9-6
I also don't eat a lot during my eating window. Any advice on getting the proper nutrition in smaller amounts of food? For instance if I eat a huge salad with tons of stuff added to the greens I'm full for that whole eating window.

Hi Mindy!! First of all thank you so much for absolutely everything you do! You are so inspiring and I make that well known to all of my friends and family! In regards to fasting, do Blackmore Women’s multivitamins break a fast? I’ve heard all sorts of things about fasting with multivitamins so I’ve just been having them with my meal. However, due to my medical history it takes me 6.5 days of fasting to get to a 5 hour seizure-free period during my last EEG, with an average of 45-50 seizures per day. (Mainly because I had my first round of Neurosurgery when I was 9, with my Left Temporal Lobe removed, and the Hippocampus produces 80% of stem cells). Along with endless other complications, it’s almost a joke at this stage. Since New Year’s Day 2023, I have only been able to have 1 meal every 2 days, created out of a list of 8ish ingredients, along with an extra 1 week fast per month. New Year’s Day I have I was seizure free for the first day since October 2018 and the streak is still going, however my ingredients are very limited. What are your recommendations with Multivitamins, fasting, Autophagy and Epilepsy please? 💗💗 Thank you so much for continuing to do what you do, I love you so much xxx

That is when I started extended fasting, but at that point, I was SO desperate that I did it to the extreme. I still do extended fasts if I see my weight getting away from me again, or if I am not feeling well. Great video, thank you. I really liked how you gave suggestions of the 'how' at the end! I am allergic to fish and wondered if I could have tofu instead, or is there some other protein I could eat to keep me in autophagy?

How about legumes or lentils? It has protein. 🙂

Just finished my first 72 hour fast. Feeling pretty good. What do you eat when you go out to eat to keep in autophagy?

    • @DrMindyPelz
      @DrMindyPelz  ปีที่แล้ว +6

Don't eat too much protein to stay in autophagy. 20 grams of protein is enough.

Wow that was a very concise well presented topic, I love it ! There is a bible verse which says "You are fearfully and wonderfully made" if you give your body the right nutrients it knows what to do with it. Thank you Dr Mindy very encouraging.

Sometimes it's hard for me to get hold of good quality ginger. I'm wondering if I made a ginger tincture (with some good organic ginger) and added this to lemon water, would it work? Btw, pine needle tea and infusion is a massive vit C boost too.

Don't forget, you can freeze or shred in the food processor and freeze ginger. Freeze in ziplocks very thin and flat so it is easy to break off the amount you wish.

That was really amazing. If I’m understanding this correctly I can eat these foods on a daily bases and keep going until I reach maximum Autophagy at 72hrs

Good info, I will say that exercise is essential to autophagy. In fact, even without fasting, exercise is far superior. Fasting is helpful but, always put in the same amount of work when fasting and the results will be much better.

Thank u for this! I am just starting out, learning about fasting. What are your thoughts in the ProLon fasting program?

I have been doing intermittent fasting for two years following Dr Mindy’s advice. I eat till full and my grocery bill has gone way down. I mostly do 20/4, 18/6 and occasional OMAD. I am down to a size 6/8 which I haven’t seen since the early 80’s lol. You don’t need to purchase prepackaged meals that you have no idea what they put in them and restrict yourself. Start with 18/6 - eat from 12 to 6pm or 1-7. Dr Mindy has great graphics on Pinterest showing oils to avoid and best types of food. ♥️

I prefer to use real food nothing in a package. Once you change the diet, fasting becomes easy.

You mentioned 20 grams of protein and keeping our carbs low to loose weight. Is the 20 grams of protein per meal or 20 grams of protein per the day. Thankyou❤️

    • @misottovoce
      @misottovoce ปีที่แล้ว +4

Per day. Edited: not per day, per that one meal of the day for the goal of autophagy.

    • @Kaitlynb259

@@Kaitlynb259 I stand corrected...I just rewatched that part and she indeed was referring to that one meal of the day...with the goal of the day being autophagy. My brain was still in the keto diet of percentages ie 20% protein total daily!

Something I loooove is juicing ginger, fresh turmeric and warming it up with coconut milk (not boiling) , black pepper , salt and a bit of alternative sweetener ( but I found stevia isn’t the best with it) . It’s like a curry soup 🤤

Question for Dr. Mindy -- I'm a 28-year-old female and I am just diving into fasting for my cycle (I just bought your book! ) I am pretty metabolically flexible and can get into ketosis (blood ketones above 0.5mml) within a 24 hr window with a morning fasting glucose average of 80mg. 16-18 hour fasts are relatively easy for me, but I am trying to be more aware of when my body wants a break as well as start upping more hormone-beneficial carbohydrates (typically around 50 net) during my ovulation and pre-menstrual phase. My question is, when I am in the pre-menstrual phase days 20+, my body often wants to fast 16+ without apparent stress/struggle. Would you recommend spacing out meals to prolong the feeding window (so that the fasting window is no more than 13 hrs) to reduce cortisol levels, or is ok to take it day by day?

    • @DrMindyPelz
      @DrMindyPelz  ปีที่แล้ว +5

Yes, day by day and each individual is different. Adjust for personal plan and goals
