I am a 61 year old woman. I have tried every weight loss method possible. I started following these principles- incrementally (but not perfectly) on September 1 of this year…. Today (December 2) I stepped on the scales and I have lost 35lbs. I have struggled with my weight my entire life and my mind is blown by the simplicity and effectiveness of these principles!!! I do not count calories. I removed the junk. I no longer crave sweets. I started watching my blood sugars and ketones (I am not diabetic), I look at food completely differently now. I walk 30min a day and a couple a days a week weight training- so very “doable”. Thank you so much for your videos. I have shared with family and friends and several have started the same journey because of your great information and they are inspired by my success.

I still have a ways to go. I’m in perimenopause so it’s been tricky figuring out my body in relation to fasting. However I do feel less bloated and my mind is clearer.

Congratulations! So happy that you have been so successful. After being on Keto and Intermittent Fasting for 4 years I can see what is missing. The whole foods they said were taboo such as fiber from veggies and fruit and walking every day must be the missing link.
Ke we cup your great success😀

When my sister died I knew I would have to lose weight. A friend had lost weight during the time I was taking care of my sister. Asked her if we could be partners. She agreed. I cut my carbs, had half slice of bread per day, and very little sugar. I decided to walk. At 273lbs and 5 1" that is all I could manage. So, the first time I walked to the fence of my complex. Each day was a little farther. I lost 111lbs. TBC

At 53 years old, suffering from sleep apnea and a myriad of other weight related issues, I decided to make an appt to talk about gastric sleeve surgery. Thankfully, my insurance did not cover it. I decided that day that I would give this one last chance and figure out how to lose the extra weight on my own. In less than 4 months I have lost 44 lbs through whole food, low carb and intermittent fasting. I watch these videos religiously and have purchased both, Fast Like a Girl and The Menopause Reset. They have changed my life. My sleep apnea is almost gone and I no longer need antacids every night. I’m so grateful that this is working. I’m getting my life back.

I haven't been in the 130's since I was in my fifties and smoked 2-3 packs of cigarettes a day. I quit cigs in 2007, and haven't touched one since. Did I mention I feel GREAT!!

I started doing 75 hard on January 1st 2024, it was February 24th and I hadn’t lost a single pound. In fact I had gained weight. I stumbled upon Dr. Mindy’s name on a podcast episode and started looking into intermittent fasting. I had done it before but I was not as dedicated. This lead me to buying Fast like a girl. I literally ready it in 3 days (and I have two very young children 😂) I couldn’t put it down. So informative and just so well written. I have the book highlighted and with sticky notes all over. Anyway… all that to say that I began my fasting journey and I’m still figuring out exactly what works for me, but I’m proud to say that I’ve lost 15 pounds and I’m so excited because I know it’s just the beginning! I cannot believe that I am 31 and just now learning how to eat to support my hormones. Why are we not taught these things in school? 😅 Grateful I can teach my daughter and break the cycle. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world! Big, big fan! 👏🏼

    1. Timing of food:
Collapse eating window and eat within say 8 hours 6 hours. This is effective, even when eating same thing. Time restricted eating allows for Fasting, which works.
    2. Keto diet:
Helps lose weight without exercising cos it brings blood sugar down, no spike. So you are in fat burning state and you have less hunger.
    3. Protein:
This kills hunger for longer, increases body heat, I.e. metabolism. Eat 1g of protein per pound of body weight. Proteins are the mvps
    4. Fibre:
Stabilizes blood sugar. E.g eating potatoes vs eating potatoe chips.
    5. Eat whole foods, eliminate processed / fast food:
Go back to things that grow from the ground not things made in a lab or factory. The quality of food matter, while foods have no ingredient list. They come from the ground, trees, nature.
    6. Walk:
It is great for joints, brain, Total body. It calms the brain.
Don't overcomplicate weightloss, it is the simple things.

I'm also disabled with mobility issues after nearly 24 years of rheumatoid arthritis. I'm 49 and need to lose around 80lb. I've lost 22.5lb since mid-May, with intermittent fasting and killing sugar etc. My step count was similar to yours, in fact it still is, as I walk with crutches and find more than 10 to 15 mins walking like someone shoving red hot pokers through my knees and feet due to deformities. However I've found things I can do such as 'chair dancing', using a portable cycle machine with my arms to heavy metal or dance music, even lying on my bed and doing leg raises. Then of course some weights, but I have to be careful with my wrists and elbows - had some synovial fluid leak out of my left elbow after overdoing it a bit one day. It's still reabsorbing and I've been left with what looks like a small water balloon (I've named it Bob the Blob), under the skin. It doesn't really hurt, but feels tight and I can move it around. Yes, I like to freak people out with it.
We're all doing such a great job at getting parts of our life back that seemed to have slipped away without us really noticing. Let's all keep on going. I already feel healthier within myself and am sleeping better. Thankfully, the RA is the only thing wrong with me - no high blood pressure, cholesterol issues, diabetes etc., and I am determined not to go down that path, by making these lifestyle changes now.

I could never "do" starvation dieting very well. Calories in calories out just didn't work very well. Then I watched TH-cam videos on keto and intermittent fasting, and that was the game changer! I ate 1,600-1,800 calories per day, and the weight kept coming off. Fasting 16 hours a day (just don't eat after dinner, and eat at lunchtime) was easy after a couple times. I wasn't even hungry once I did it a few times...you adapt. I lost 45 lbs, and that was 2 1/2 years ago. I stay away from (inflammatory) sugar and refined carbs like white flour. I eat high carbs and sugar on vacations, and special occasions. I do gain weight, I just go back to keto and intermittent fasting, and the weight just naturally comes off again. The first 4 days of keto and intermittent fasting getting started is hard...carb withdrawal, but after that it was just like magic. I lost my brain fog, I no longer craved an afternoon nap, and I woke up refreshed and didn't hit the snooze...lots of energy. I can't say enough about the body benefits, and how it has changed my life. Blessings on all who took the time to read this!😊

Mindy! I discovered fasting about 3 years ago. I was 250 lbs when I was 29 y.o. and letting go of a very toxic marriage. I tried the normal diet stuff, but I would always gain it back. Fast forward to 2020, I started to watch YT videos and ran into a few doctors talking about this intermittent and keto stuff, and I was mind blown. I decided to do as much research and give it a try. 2 years ago I started at 232 lbs, and I lost 43 lbs, and went down to 187 lbs. Then I got pregnant by my now husband, and mind you I was not very fertile and had many fertility issues before. I had one of the most healthiest pregnancies ever. I'm now back to the fasting, but I've never felt younger, lighter, more focused and happy in my life, and I know it was the change in what I ate and the fasting. My baby is now 1 y.o. and I'm back at it and just a couple pounds away from pre-baby weight and just have 20 more lbs to go and I am confident I will finally be at my target weight after being overweight for over 22 years.

As I’m typing, I am 20 hrs into a fast. Last year in November my Dr wanted to give me 4 Rx’s for hypertension, pre diabetes, high cholesterol and a CPAP. She knew I don’t care to take meds so, she gave me 6 months. I immediately stopped fast food, sugar, alcohol, eating too much and started walking. About a month later a friend noticed I was losing weight and asking if I was intermittent fasting. Went home, searched TH-cam for intermittent fasting. 6 months later the Dr said I no longer needed the Rx’s. A year later I’m down 90 lbs. Eating clean, TRF every day, longer fasts once or twice a month. Never going back!
    ps, I’m 63

I have to give a shout out to Mindy for her excellent teaching. In Nov 7th, 2023, my husband had a 15% renal function and was told to prepare for dialysis. We started intermittent fasting and eating low carb (mostly Whole Foods) and on 12/1 he had bloodwork done. His renal function has increased by 2%. It is amazing to me that such a simple change can put you in a postive direction. Thank you, Mindy! ❤️

I tried everything under the sun from keto, exercising, calorie deficit and even IF and never could lose more than 15 pounds. When I started practicing extended water fasting it was a game changer! It was getting into the state of autophagy that healed my liver and endocrine system and I shed 100 pounds easily after several long term rounds of water fasting. It’s the only thing that worked for me and had soooo many benefits from anti-aging, healing my underlying health issues, helping skin firmness, restored energy and finally able to lose the weight! For maintence I practice both keto and IF and quarterly water fasting for autophagy.

Mindy!! I am 34 years old and I’m 5ft 2 inches tall. By the end of last year I weighed 191 pounds and I was so over it ! My stomach was so messed up, my microbiome was terrible. Anything I ate I would bloat ! I was on omeprazole for my ridiculous stomach pain. And I was so miserable !
Then I came across your videos and started implementing your methods little bit by little bit first with the walking after dinner, then the 12 hour overnight fast , then the longer fasts and the 3 day water fast, and moving to Whole Foods. As of this time last year I have lost 40 lbs!!!! I’ve never felt better and the weight came off so easy, especially since taking in the hormone cycling ! I’m now strength training doing Pilates and walking everyday and being careful with my food choices. I’m so thankful to you and the people you interview on your resetter podcast for all the information that you have given me to CHANGE MY LIFE !!! I’m not exactly where I want to be just yet but with all these tools in my belt now I have so much hope to be in the best shape of my life this coming year and keeping it that way. No more counting calories and doing stressful workouts and beating myself up !!! ! Your information changed my life and the life of so many people ! I’m constantly telling all my friends about your methods and sharing your videos !

We're the same age and saw height! Lol I've been on such a journey myself, ever since I was young. But in Aug 2019 my gf told me about how she lost so much weight and it was through keto. So I did that and I naturally fell into intermittent and extended fasting. With walking at night which eventually turned into jogging (for 4 to 6 miles.) And in March 2020 I had gone from weighing my heaviest at 201 lbs in 2019 to weighing 138 lbs in March 2020. And then I met my boyfriend lol and I am back up to 170s. And I feel like poop. I've been watching a ton of Dr. Mindys videos i also bought her book on audible (and just recently the actual book on Amazon) so I'm learning how to fast around my cycle. I just started spotting today so I've decided to start my 36 fast (5:45p since last night no food.) I'm just trying to get into a lifestyle that I can do for a long time. And I've been pescatarian since 2017....I really want to get back down to the 140s or 130s if I can. I got a stationary bike from a coworker a few months ago and I love that (I use the Peleton app which is fun.) And recently a higherdoes infrared sauna blanket. Can't wait to try that since I've heard many positive things about detoxing the body and switching you into a more relaxed state. I think the reason (among a few others) is that my cortisol is high due my work load (I work 3 jobs but I love them) and so that may be preventing the keto diet working for me this time around. Not sure but ...I'm glad I saw your comment!! It's hard to find others around our age experiencing weight loss via fasting and low carb. (And thank you for letting me share and vent hehe) take care!

Male 56 here. I started my journey end of May 2023 at 275 pounds (125kg) at 1,80m (5‘10) with serious signs of metabolic syndrome - I just had enough. I also stopped smoking in March 23 after a life long addiction.
Started off with low carb, soon reached keto and with the help and advise of all the awesome TH-cam doctors tried the intermittent fasting.
Last Friday intent to my work Christmas party (yes, I did eat carbs and drank quite a bit of gin & tonics) and my colleagues were all amazed at how fit and healthy I look. As we all work mostly remote from home, I haven’t seen them for months.
I am at 94kg (208 pounds) right now, and I feel so great.
I must admit, it all is so much easier in spring/summer time. We currently have a really frosty winters period with a lot of snow and 5°F overnight here in Bavaria. Even though I go outside with my dogs every day, it is rather difficult to walk in the snow.
I plateaued somehow at this 95kg mark, but I am not to worried about it. My doctor halted my blood pressure meds daily dose. I simply continue my IF of 16/8 and 23/1 depending on how I feel any given day.
I cannot help but think that the occasional switch to carb containing foods (like at the work party with all our delicious Bavarian dishes and desserts) is absolutely fine metabolically speaking. I simply continued with ketovore meals over the weekend.
My goal is to hit 85kg again, like in my late 30s 😂 I still have most of my clothing from that time, which is the best part of it all, to try them all on and looking at yourself in the mirror.
Thank you Dr. Pelz for all your helpful information, which gives a massive boost of motivation to read other people’s success story!
And yes, there is no way I ever go back to the standard promoted western diet - with the very rare occasional exception. I don’t crave it anymore. Period!

You said it at the end…people make weight loss complicated! I initially lost my 50 lbs. by old method, calories in, calories out. But as I aged, I was quickly gaining that back, especially after a shoulder injury. I found your channel years ago and have followed this exact philosophy since then. I’m 59, weigh less than I did in high school and feel fantastic. I even had another surgery on my shoulder and truly believe because of my fasting lifestyle I was able to heal in a matter of weeks verses months. @@Jane-pg8jv Hello, from Texas! I do one 36 hour fast per week. I start on a Sunday evening and end Tuesday morning. The rest of the week, I stick to 18:6. I don’t intentionally fast on the weekends, but find that it’s such a part of my lifestyle, I end up sticking to my same schedule only because I just don’t feel hungry anymore. One more thing, my weight can fluctuates anywhere from 2-3 pounds per week, but that one 36 hour fast a week, drops it right back down. It’s been like that for years, I don’t stress about it.

Love your station! Love your vids!! Last year I had to cut 10 lbs relatively quickly for a tournament (I am a boxer who is also menopausal). I already predominantly eat/ate whole foods, follow the keto diet and next to zero processed. So.....I watched your videos and wow!! I followed your fasting guidelines and I did it! I lost the weight so easily and made the tournament (I won btw!) I lost the weight without having to feel hungry or denied once. That was last year and I have kept to fasting ever since. I have kept to it however, mostly because I have found I physically and mentally feel much better and not just for the weight loss I experienced early on.
And to anyone out there who thinks they cannot work out prior to breaking their fast ( I do know some folk fear feeling less powerful), I work out every morning for 2 hours not having consumed a thing other than water (I do have electrolytes in my PH balanced aqua). Interestingly, after breaking my fast and working out again in the afternoon for the same duration, there is no difference to my particular power or output.
Dr. Mindy thank you so much!! I believe in your revolution!

I had stopped weighing myself because I was so resigned to being overweight/obese. I'm 5'3" and was in the range of 170 to 180 lbs. Then I heard about the dangers of seed oils and decided to cut them out of my diet as much as I could. I went from eating fast food 2 to 3 times a week to none at all, and eventually cutting out nearly all refined/processed foods from my diet. In 3 to 4 months, I lost about 30-35 lbs without changing my activity level at all. After I hovered at 140-145 for 6 months or so, I heard Dr. Mindy talk about fasting. I've successfully lost 10 more lbs using intermittent fasting, and plan to lose 10-20 more in the next few months. I'm so looking forward to being the healthiest I've ever been in my life.

    • @kristhal5
      @kristhal5 ปีที่แล้ว

@annachapman8369 I'm at your starting point (similar stats). How much did you eat daily? I already don't eat seed oils n junk, but I just maintain.

    • @annachapman8369
      @annachapman8369 ปีที่แล้ว +7

@kristhal5 I have not counted any calories in this time period, so I can only give generalities. During the time that I lost the 30/35 lbs and then maintained, I ate three meals a day and ate until I was full. I would guess my most common foods were coffee with half and half and honey, eggs, steak, hamburger, steakums, salmon, cheese, Greek yogurt, mandarins, and apples. Of course, there was some variety in there (potatoes, rice, onions, chicken, asparagus, the occasional "treat" on special occasions), but I really focused on protein and whole fruits/veggies, and cooking only in the good fats (coconut oil, avocado oil, olive oil, ghee, butter).
In the three months that I've experimented in incorporating intermittent fasting, I've found that for me, eating one meal a day (lunch) is my sweet spot to losing consistently. Of course, there are ups and downs with my cycle, the holidays and other special occasions, and just figuring out what foods work well with my body. What's helped me most in figuring out what is or isn't working for me is a food diary. I write down all my meals and the time that I ate them (no calories though, just the foods). I weigh myself every morning, write down my eating window for the previous day, how much I gained or lost, and take stock of what types of foods I ate and/or the timing of them to see if I can pinpoint what helped or harmed. For example, I know that even if I only eat one meal, having rice noodles at that meal will make my weight go up a pound. Having fruit at the one meal will not. I can still have coffee with half and half in the morning, but if I have honey, too, I'll stall on weight instead of losing half a pound.
I'm really having fun testing things out and seeing immediate results, even if they're in the opposite direction I want to go! Everything is a data point. And buying some size 4 jeans for the first time since high school ALSO feels amazing.

I have been encouraged to explore keto/fasting and am preparing for an orthopaedic surgery assessment. I need both knees and a hip replacing! Very recently I have started to get good results from a protein/fasting regime. And have lost about 8lbs in a short time; this is a vast improvement on any food regime I’ve ever tried before. The sense of well being and mental agility is profound. I’m on a roll, so thank you as I try to establish and fully understand this ‘anti processed’ food and fully supported by a diabetic daughter.

I went through menopause end of 2019. Weight gain started slowly, bloating, crazy cravings and I ended up with 40 pounds extra weight. I had all kinds of tests and procedures done to figure out what the reason was for my weight gain. My primary doctor finally told me it was due to menopause and I better just accept it. I didn't listen to her and began doing research and turning into TH-cam like it was my temple. I learned about intermittent fasting. I followed it, slowly changed my eating habits, and then whole foods, exercising and I began to notice weight slowly coming off. Today, I am proudly 35 pounds lighter. My goal is to lose another 10 pounds. Intermittent fasting, exercise and healthy eating have drastically changed my view about food. In fact my stomach, my brain and body won't accept anything but this. However, I do force myself to have one cheat day once a month only to balance my metabolism even though I don't crave sweets like before. In fact, the foods I eat on my cheat days, I don't even enjoy. Please be patient and don't give up. This method really works.

Upon moving to Italy my diet changed drastically and instantly I lost a good 20 pounds . In the states I ate more processed foods through University and soda , normal amounts . I was fairly thin in Italy for 25 years and then during covid I gained weight . Really strict lockdown, became a master baker , pasta maker and oh well twenty pounds later ! After I went to an Italian dietitian who completely changed everything . To tell you the truth before I fasted everyday .My Dietitian changed that , she reintroduced breakfast ( savoury) anyway a few tweaks (even moderate amounts of carbs )pasta , bread , potatoes I was able to drop 25 pounds. Anyway,I believe our taste buds can adapt to being healthy! Carbs need to be present but not dominant! ❤

I focus on what fasting does for my health and it has worked. No more odd wonky symptoms. I feel so much better I can exercise and sleep well too. All making me a healthy me again. I do OMAD now with water fasts in random patterns. Through the holidays, I’m planning more longer water fasts. Giving myself the gift of a healing and healthy body. Thank you Dr Mindy for your life changing advice!

This channel is godsent ☺️😇 I went from 81kg to 72kg and it felt effortless. I still have some weight to lose and now have confidence in my body that this is easily possible. The only exercise I am doing is walking and occasionally some yoga. Love the way it makes me feel. Thank you Dr Mindy!! 😍🥳

At 75, I was having problems standing up straight, back aches so I decided to see what I could do about it. Pain is not fun. So I am down 30 lbs in 3 months thanks to your videos.. also healing a fatty liver. New life attitude--eat to live not living to eat. Blood work is improved and everything is changing to a good feeling-plus not hungry, I eat during the time I am suppose to eat and get full really quickly.......(like that) no bloating, no stomach aches.
Some are upset because I am a candy and pastry chef but sugar is off the table and out of my cooking. I do love the way chemistry works with sugar and flour and yeast. Creations are so beautiful. Someone else needs to take the lead on that.
I am changing for the better and my brain loves it along with sleeping without interruption.

Age 64, fasting since 2017. Originally lost 36lb. Kept it off 4 years easily. Now it’s creeping back. I now vary my fasts, don’t eat grains or dairy and I exercise. I’m up 20 lbs since 2022 and went from size 4 to size 10. I make my own food w/ clean proteins and veggies w/ no bad oils. I do castor oil packs, follow Dr Mindy’s advice on supplements. I’m not hungry for 20 hours. Fancy scale says I’m 34% fat now. Was 31%. I follow Dr Berg, Dr Fung and others with keto knowledge. I’m desperate to get back to my old 2017 self. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong.

I lost 24 lbs from fasting in one year.. I went walking at least 2-3 times a week. Ate whole foods brought my high blood pressure down and got rid of the arthritis in my legs. Went from a size 10 to an 8 and can sometimes even wear 6. I was 70 when I did this and got down to 133lbs.. I feel great have lots of energy and I am still walking in hopes to tighten and lose more of my tummy and bring down my waist. I had four kids so I doubt I will ever have a flat tummy but if I can get rid of the little belly apron and lose 6 inches off my waist I will be thrilled. I never eat breakfast and often wait until 2 or 3 O'clock to eat. Love salads and fruits most of all even over meat. I am so thrilled I heard about Intermittent dieting, it has been the best thing I ever did for me. Nothing else ever worked so well in losing weight as that has. And I am keeping it off! I know we aren't supposed to go by the scale, but how our clothes fit us. I still have a goal to reach 129 lbs. For 5" 2" that's probably what I should weigh.

I had done OMAD for several years without any real weight loss success. BUT when I started keto, I released almost 50 pounds in four months! I also started throwing in some 36-48-hour fasts, so those longer fasts work well, too. :) I love your videos, Dr. Mindy, and I appreciate you very much. I also love how you openly speak about menopause. It's about time it's normalized!

I have just started following fasting from watching your videos,. I can’t believe that in my first week I lost 2 lbs. Just like that. Omg, no major change in diet, just followed the fasting times. I don’t have any cravings during my eating window. I don’t feel hungry during the fasting window. Amazing. Why didn’t I find you before? 😊. I’m loving this. It’s easy, it’s manageable and most of all, it’s rewarding. I’ve got 12lbs to lose so I know I can do it by fasting. So happy I found you Dr Mindy. Love your videos and your passion to help people lose weight and learning about fasting.

43yo guy here. I started a GLP1 drug because my glucose/a1c was dangerously high. started at 108kg/238lbs I was losing very slowly the first month and kept stalling. I stumbled upon Omad videos and then your channel. Life changing.
I won't be a hypocrite so I will say it loud and clear: fasting and being in a calorie deficit on GLP1 drugs is a walk in the park. So much so that I could do Omad everyday - though I learned that isn't good so i am doing 4x omad, 2x 20-4, 1x no fasting
in 70 days despite Christmas holidays I have lost 15kg/33lbs now I am 93kg/205lbs
still have a long road ahead of me before I can hit a reasonable 78kg

OK, I, too, dropped 35 pounds without much effort or changing what I ate. I incorporated intermittent fasting with a 6 hour window for eating and got a trampoline. I began in May of 2021 and was in no rush to lose weight. My emphasis was on getting healthier since I had been retired for a year, and weight had been piling on. I peaked at getting within 5 pounds of my goal weight. I stayed at that holding weight for months. Then, horrors of horror, just as easily and slowly, I've gained 20 of the 35 pounds back in this past year. AGAIN without changing anything.
In another video, it was suggested that by fasting the same way for 3 years, my body is working against itself, so I will change up. I do moderate exercise, strengthening and stretching, but it's pretty discouraging, especially bc I've not had fried chicken or Asian food in three years.
Writing this, I realize what has changed is that I'm up every 2 to 3 hours to urinate during the night, so I no longer get a full night's sleep.
In any case, these clips are very helpful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
