I used my ears the other day and heard a noise that made me stop the car asap- my rear passenger wheel was about to fall off with about two threads holding it on… Toyota service screw up- the alloy rim was stuffed and I had to get a new one -always good to listen, even better to get a friend to help
Terry your vids have been awesome especially as we have an older 200 series. Love watching you guys on your adventures. Wishing we were back on the road again!
Thanks for the kind words Alicia, that is very humbling. Heaps more 200 stuff and trips coming your way. Once our WA series finishes in a few weeks, Tassie is next on the video agenda. Cheers👍😎
G’day Terry, I replaced the pin on an Alko stabiliser leg on my caravan today and I was proud of myself. I will never attain the level of mechanical genius you obviously have but it was awesome to watch you do the job and you’ve inspired me.
Good stuff Terry. I look forward to Friday afternoon to watch your latest informative videos. Today, I've just jumped ship and put a deposit on a 300 so it'll be getting close to say goodbye to the 200.
Enjoy the 300 mate, I’m sure it will give you a lot of joy and fun. Thanks for being a part of the channel Greg, it’s been great to have you with me. Check in from time to time mate, maybe there might be something the peaks your interest. Good day not goodbye mate, cheers👍😎
Great video as usual Terry and another item now that I believe would be doable by myself if necessary. Just a comment on grease that I noted from a guy on the 200 Series Australia facebook post by the name of Tom Quok. He is very knowledgeable experienced with the 200 and recommended that the Uni joints be greased with lithium grease such as Castrol Premium HD and the Prop shaft with molygrease such as Castrol Spheerol LMM. He recommended not using the molygrease on the Uni joints as its not designed for needle bearings. Not sure if this may have contributed to your uni joint failure but worth noting going forward. Keep up the great work and videos.
Toyota Engineers smoking crack! You nailed it!! 🤣🤣 14:00 Was it raining there Terry🤣🤣 Oh, ok, So it rained again in Qld (shock horror!!🤣) My biggest take out of this & many of your videos, is the tee shirt! I get given a lot of grief for wearing unique tee's while I work (some are dam near destroyed!) but as far as I'm concerned, those shirts are a part of my life & wearing them while I work is far more important to me than someone's feelings 😁Glad you are a happy camper Terry, we wouldn't want anything else!!🤣🤣
Hi Terry Good morning from Germany Nice tech vid again Absolutely….. old folks like us have learned to listen cars, trucks, motor cycles, machines, etc. that was our diagnostic tools… till today.. OBDII reader have no ears and eyes… Start driving Window down start listening every start up driving, one notch up is driving close to a concrete wall or separator wall window up and down. That is doing it for me. Now I am going to hunt down my lc200 problem : loosing the cruise control function and 5th. And 6th. Gear while passing with speed over 2 rail tracks some times…. Any idea welcome… Cheers
I have heard 5th and 6th can be lost if you have a faulty map sensor filter. They are plastic from Toyota and prone to cracking cause a leak. If not that, I’m not sure mate. Let us know what you find. Cheers😎👍
Hi Terry Many thanks for the tip. I guess that could be a possible reason since it occurred with power loss last time and was not resettable as before with stopping the car, turn off the ignition and restart. I had to delete the failure code from the ECU, which actually was showing accelerator sensor fault. Strange… Anyway it was gone after reset… took me 4 months driving to simulate this fault with cruise control and 5&6 gear not working. My cruiser is in MEL workshop and I have asked them to renew the little plastic filter 90917-11036 and 4mm vacuum hose. Will let you know but will take a while…. Cheers
Hi Terry, great video. Did you pre-grease the spider T's before installing them? If not, you have could pushed all the grease out of the dust caps with air. I would've pre-grease them so there's grease all the way up to the cross sections so when you pump the grease after their installed the air doesn't force the grease out of the caps. Keep up the good work.😄😄
Thanks Carlos, I appreciate the kind words. I don’t put thread locker on tail shaft bolts, the fine threads mean they just don’t loosen on their own, at least not in my 50 years of wrenching. Having said that, if it helps you sleep at night by all means. Cheers😎👍
In the background, it sounded like you have a koel bird calling. To avoid getting a needle roller fall into the cap. I thought you showed it. Install the first cap with the cross piece. Then move the cross piece toward the second cap where there is a sweet spot where the cross piece engages the needles in both caps and tap the second cap into place.
Every car and 4x4 I've owned , every time I've had a uni strat to go bad I see double in the rear view mirror's from the tale shaft being unbalance before I hear any noises from the uni's
Hey terry. Once again a lot of useful info however my 200 series is a 2015 and the aftermarket uni joints are different part number front and rear shaft. What year model is yours
I think i will check with toyota. I bought the aftermarket one a few years ago as spares when we did the Simpson.glad i didnt need them because as we all know the one we need at the time would be the wrong one
I change my care land cruiser univerersal joint 76L 2012 modale the only rear universal joint I heerd a voice still and I conviuse the sound is vary close to the transever geer how can I manage

Wow, that sounds like a close call mate, good on ya for catching it😎👍

Mate, you are miles in front of me, I don’t even know what an Alko stabiliser is! Thanks for tuning in mate👍😎
Another great video Terry - many thanks - and I don't think my wife would let me use my Queen / Adam Lambert 2014 VIP T shirt in the shed lol
I hear ya mate. I have lost count of the cool t shirts I have nuked👍

I love my tee’s Rod. They start life as “going to town clothes”, and eventually get relegated to shed shirts. It’s evolution😂😎
Thanks Terry - another great self help video. Wish I had a four poster!
The hoist is a game changer Peter, that’s for sure. Thanks for sharing 😎👍

Yes, greased before assembly, and after assembly. Cheers😎👍
What's a zerk? It's a grease nipple in Australia Terry! Good job
Thanks mate. I’m multinational and use terms from everywhere and as often as I can👍😎
Great video. Looks like Toyota put thread locker on the threads of the bolts. Perhaps put some Loctite or similar when reinstalling?
Thanks Carlos, I appreciate the kind words. I don’t put thread locker on tail shaft bolts, the fine threads mean they just don’t loosen on their own, at least not in my 50 years of wrenching. Having said that, if it helps you sleep at night by all means. Cheers😎👍
@@JafffaAdventures Thanks for explaining. I have 2015 LC in the US and your vids have helped me tons.
Good stuff mate, I'm glad you found some value here. Cheers
I always found turning the radio up helped in drowning out the whining noise coming from my ex wife. It's not always a bad thing.
No it’s not, but just don’t let your car blow up from under you 😂😎
In the background, it sounded like you have a koel bird calling. To avoid getting a needle roller fall into the cap. I thought you showed it. Install the first cap with the cross piece. Yep, sure is, they call all through the night too. Good tip, cheers😎
What’s your preferred grease for the U-joints and slip yoke? Great video! TY!
Cheers mate👍. I use NLGI #2 GC-LB lithium complex EP grease. Any brand is fine
Every car and 4x4 I've owned , every time I've had a uni strat to go bad I see double in the rear view mirror's from the tale shaft being unbalance before I hear any noises from the uni's
Sure that’s not the beers mate😉😂👍
Hey terry. Once again a lot of useful info however my 200 series is a 2015 and the aftermarket uni joints are different part number front and rear shaft. What year model is yours
2010. That does surprise me, could be aftermarket numbers. I used genuine 👍
I think i will check with toyota. I bought the aftermarket one a few years ago as spares when we did the Simpson.glad i didnt need them because as we all know the one we need at the time would be the wrong one
That’s it mate
I’d definitely check with Toyota
Let me know what you find out 👍😉
Will do mate. Next time i head to town I’ll have a chat with them and get back to you. Stand by it might be a few days
@steveharris5097 copy that mate👍
I change my care land cruiser univerersal joint 76L 2012 modale the only rear universal joint I heerd a voice still and I conviuse the sound is vary close to the transever geer how can I manage
Not sure mate, cheers
