Man, there are none better than old Ray Price! I sure hope he beats this cancer that he has and gets out there touring, I'd love to see Ray one more time!!!
I've loved Ray's singing since the very early 50s, had the pleasure of seeing him in concert Knoxville TN. mid 60s great show, but as age catches up 2 me this song has a special meaning. Thanks to Ray for all the beautiful music over the years. If anyone is king of Country it's Mr. Price.
+webbjr37 I believe Ray felt it also, you could see in this video that he sang it with feeling, possibly feeling age catching up to him. But the man didn't give up easily. He did what he loved to the end.
I've probably seen Ray in concert a dozen times. If he isn't the greatest, I don't know who is. A very friendly person who appreciates his fans. I hope his health is improving since he is back home, just before thanksgiving. I think this is a concert he did in WI and I was in the front row.
Very existential song, ... with a lot of truth and heart in it, ... but my faith and experience is THAT GOD IS ETERNAL and HE CAN impart eternal life to spirit, soul, ... and (a NEW) body to those who love Him and honor Him. but in the physical, earthly realm: time takes its relentless toll on everything created...in time.
As of this minute Ray Price is still with us. True he is supposedly in a coma at home under the care of hospice, but he's a stubborn man, he'll do this his way and he was probably chuckling yesterday when the media had him having died. Last update was this afternoon at 1 pm central time and he was still with us. As he's said before, "Don't Rush Me!"
I will fly somewhere to see him if I have to! I love him so much! I just heard him on XM radio maybe a week or two ago doing a live interview over the phone talking about Willie's birthday & commented on losing George Jones. His voice sounded strong & he sounded like he was in good spirits- said he feels much better & the cancer was in remission for now. I want to see him again so bad- I haven't seen him live since 2003.Now that Jones is gone, Ray and Hag and a few others are all that's left :-(
I'll try to remember to come back and let you know when the CD is released. I'm thinking about heading to Vegas if he doesn't cancel because of not feeling well, it's only a day drive for me. You should join Ray's Facebook page or Janie's facebook page OR the Ray Price Fan Club facebook page. We post pictures and music, you name it and we're kept updated on everything Ray Price. Janie keeps us pretty informed. It's a good group of people and they all love Ray Price.
I doubt the man ever did anything other than an excellent concert. He's gaining weight and hope he's up and around doing what he loves do, whether it's touring again or just fishing. We just want him healthy and happy. We're all still waiting for his new CD to come out. It's out of his hands now and just being processed.
His new CD is completed and now we are only waiting for the cover to be finished and then I suppose it will be up for sale. Can't wait! And he is out of the hospital and working on getting his strength back.
Latest release date is in June for the new CD. Janie will keep us updated on her Facebook page when it will come out. It's mostly older songs but songs he has never recorded before, one I believe is "Among My Souvenirs". I love Marty Robbins' version, so I can't wait to hear Ray sing it also. Last update was that they are now waiting for the final test results and hopefully they'll be able to come home. She posted a picture of him in a wheelchair, he looked great!!
B.T.W. in that same interview I just mentioned Ray said he COMPLETED his new album!!!!!! He said he plans a release very soon, and he feels his new album is the best work he's ever done! I'm not sure that is possible though, he has set the bar pretty high to top some of the beautiful beyond amazing music he has recorded!! But, a new album by Ray Price is the most exciting thing I have heard in a while! Let me know if you hear anything about the release before I do! God Bless!
Well, the guy is tough and even though he's in the hospital now due to severe dehydration, he just doesn't stop what he loves. I just checked his schedule, and he's booked in to Feb of next year. Who's Going To Fill Their Shoes?
PS just added a link for his tour info in the video description above in case you want to see if he'll be performing somewhere close to you. Just saw him May 4th, well worth the 1,000 mile drive to TX.
No one on God's green earth could give this song more meaning than Ray Price. I attended his concerts over 52 years. A CLASS act. Rest in Peace!

The King of music
I was at Kenny Vernon's house one day listening to some songs, he played this one for me, it really touched something in me. What a great song.

Ray under hospice care now. What a major loss this will be.
Great!!
Genius
The best or top 5
Anyone know who wrote this song? I tried Google and there are 3-4 Payne's that could be the author.
