I noticed if I have the turn signal on and a cluster warning comes on while the turn signal is on then the indicator noise will cancel out. When the light clears then the indicator noise will come back on. Kinda neat that they mimicked the sound of a turn signal relay clicking to make the car sound natural and normal. Also it let's people know that your signals are still on (I ride motorbikes so I'm used to checking my signals after every turn I make; still a cool feature though).
a little tip andrew buy a solder sucker its like i spring loaded seringe when the solder is molten put the seringe nozzle on the solder and press the button on it and it sucks off all the solder great for circuit boards even with wobbly hands lol

As an alternative to the solder sucker there is also solder wick which is like copper braid, you put it on top of the solder pads you want to clear the solder from apply heat from the soldering iron and this will melt and suck up (wick) the solder onto the solder wick and clean it up.
For f... sake, please get a more circuit board oriented soldering iron with a smaller tip more suitable for the stuff you are doing on the car circuit boards, otherwise you will lift the pads off the PCB one day with too much heat.
(YES - I am from an electronic background & you make me scream almost :-) seeing you use a plumbers soldering iron on this delicate stuff ....
Excellent video. Those pins are very hard to desolder! In the end, I swapped out the speaker and the clicker still didn't work. Something else at fault. On to a new cluster, I guess.

I have 2009 bmw 328i. No idrive. Just basic radio. Today, all the sound is gone. No beeping even when the key is left in. What do you suggest to work on 1st? Thanks

Mine seems a bit more laggy than yours, it's ccc, lol. Might have to get CIC upgrade in future.

Cic is brilliant and if you can get a cheap kit, definitely worth it.
To reset the ccc hold the volume knob down and the eject disc button for a few seconds, the screen will go blank and you’re in business.
Just to confirm if you have a twin disc ccc it’s the top eject button.

Question: when you remove the cluster, do you have to cut the wires? Or is it a plug and click back on piece?
You have to click on the plug and pull it off, do not cut anything, please!

Have a convertible warning, had to disconnect my speakers to stop the warning. Wish there was a way to code it

Where did you go to stop the seatbelt extenders from activating? What is the name of the coding option?
I’m just out from home at the moment and can’t bloody remember. Took me a little while to I find. I might do a video on turning the ones on my 335 off. They hardly ever actually catch the belt.
If you have any tricks or tips for e9x folding mirrors fixes would be very helpful no one on yt have a good video on a solid fix or how to shut the folding feature off with out cutting the white wire behind the mirror cover. I would like to shut the feature off if possible. Or fix it if it’s just a motor or defect? Any help would be gratefully appreciated. 🙏🏽

So far just expansion tank hose and upper rad hose. Any suggestions on an all aluminum radiator? Haven’t found an aluminum oe replacement?

I ordered them from Aliexpress back in the day but the supplier no longer does them
@@ZeroTo60Tube I just found one speaker on AliExpress that is 100 ohm 0.15W (matches spec on failed speaker)- no plastic cover - I'm thinking I'll run a couple of wires to it and hot glue it down on the PCB. Should do the trick!

It will still be around. At least this way if something else breaks while our friend has it, it will be back on the channel. We will also do a zeroto60 episode on it sometime next week, once everything is done to it.

Did you fix your problem with a new speaker? Having the same issue here and read somewhere it could also be a capacitor issue but...
could you have saved time by re coding the other cluster to the cars VIN?
No , the mileage on the used cluster has to be 0 out first and the only way to do it safely is by removing the eeprom from the board and using a proper tool that can erase the first 2 lines of the ''protected'' mileage.. What he did was way easier.
Mike is on the money. However I may try zero-I g out the cluster. My brother on law thinks he might be able to virginise it.
@@ZeroTo60Tube cluster and coding is you guy to Virginise the cluster and code one to your ecu. He did mine with the right software it seems simple. I maybe some what naive there though
