About the point about Isha being good at what she does. She's not perfect, she lost to the Noxian leader during the raid, she wasn't able to help Jinx with Warwick in Stillwater (granted Jinx told Sevika to get out) and she chose to sacrifice herself to kill Warwick not simply grab Jinx and run, leaving him to turn the Noxian's and Ambessa into human chicken skewers. She's not perfect or infallible. As for her skills, she probably just learnt some skills like weapon making from Jinx, (Heck I wouldn't be surprised Sevika taught Isha a thing or two), don't forget she also survived being on the run from gangs before she met Jinx, so she's clearly street smart. I'd say her weaknesses are her lack of maturity/experience and her attachment to Jinx. Other than that, she's a good character and a good way to symbolise the last remnants of Powder, allow Jinx to become a sister figure and allow us to have a mini Jinx in the show. (What I'd give to have an alternative timeline where Ekko/Vi find her and they find Jinx because of her. Or maybe Cait/Maddie/Ambessa find her and realise she could lead them to Jinx and someone who may be able to crack Hextech and they use her as bait. Such good stories).
I agree with this. She almost gave me the same feeling as Rue from the Hunger Games movie, while Rue had a little more individuality, her death didn't cause upset due to rue herself dying, it caused sadness because of the impact on katniss and the world around her.
@flowchartkenYT What do you mean by "Show her how to break the cycle and walk away"? That idea didn't come from Isha, it came from Jinx's hallucination of Silco, meaning it came from Jinx herself. She's what me and my brother call a "Bob Character," a new character who is most likely going to die later in the storyline their a part of. We came up with the term after seeing Bob from Stranger Things 2 because we both looked at each other and knew he was gonna die. We even placed money on it. Edit: In other words, a walking plot device.
I cringed when she was introduced. The entire point of her was for her to die to make Jinx more traumatized, and you can tell that from the moment she follows Jinx.
I would of loved to see a solo episode, or even like a 5 minute backstory of Isha before she met Jinx. I had the same feelings about her as you described.
You make good points but o still really like Isha, as a character. She’s actually pretty different from powder and I love how she acts and expresess herself, i love how innocent she is, and I LOVE her relationship with jinx. Again just my personal opinion you don’t have to agree.
Both Isha and Sky has this very specific thing of not being characters itself, but reasons to advance others and their resolves; Jinx breaking the generational cycle and Viktor final evolution. Thats not a problem as Arcane s2 just goes and manage SO many characters that is inevitably to someone be left behind, but both Isha and Sky had this weird feeling of "they can be much more than the assigned destiny" Why was Isha running away from gang members in her introduction? We will never khow Why was Sky even doing at all? We will never khow.
Exactly. I never really thought her death was sad or really impactful on me as the viewer. But as a fan of the show and the affect it would have on Jink, absolutely huge. To me the saddest part was when Vander was essentially was erased like a hard drive when Victor took Warwicks body’s.
looking at her in this light, she almost seems like a little spirit, came into Jinx’s life with no warning at the perfect time and left in a dramatic and emotional way that propelled Jinx forwards (even if not in a positive direction). I was quite attached to her, not because of jinx but because I liked her and while I do agree with your points and understand your standpoint, you say her being mute like it’s a disservice to her. I think above being some nice representation adding to the variety of people in the show, her being mute was very important and that didn’t make it harder imo to connect with her. You could still tell exactly what she was feeling or thinking. Beyond not becoming another voice in Jinx’s head it was also pretty integral to her character and it was awesome to see the story telling they could do without even needing dialogue. Maybe without her final scene it wouldn’t have been as impactful but the combination of Isha’s song being in a language many viewers won’t understand and it being the first true look into her perspective and how she sees Jinx was rly well done
Yeah I 100% agree with you honestly I was expecting no other character to notice her when I first watched thought she mighta been some kinda mental thing of jinx imagining her but nope just an uncle Ben
Aside from plot device as a character we do still see her admiration for jinx and her intentions to make jinx a big fat hero. although i get it once u someone just as a plot device u cant go back to appreciate the character easily
Kids do tend to just pop into your life and grow and challenge you and give you something to care for in a way that was outside of your perception before it became your role. I think she was her own little character for sure and her death may have been predictable but that actually is the real tragedy of it, how obviously and powerfully these violent behaviors and cycles continue when we don’t walk away and involve our kids in them
Yeah, her whole "character" is to just serve Jinx's arc. Like her being mute means her voice can't be added to the cacophony already in Jinx's mind. Convenient. We don't see Isha struggle with it or use it to her advantage, which is fine. Not every disabled person on screen needs to grapple with their disability. They can have it and still be a character. But pairing her up with Jinx is where it becomes less of a characteristic and more of a plot device. If we had more time with her or got to see more of her back story, it might have been different. But as it stands, she's Jinx's manic pixie dream girl in a way. 🤷🏻♀️😅
that “one moment” is not a word. its just another sound that people pretended she said mama during. which she did not. the script for season 2 proves that. it just says “screams” and “yells” during that part
personally i became very attached to her. she’s nonverbal or mute (unsure as to which one) and i go nonverbal often, her not exactly signing to jinx but obviously having her own form of communication that jinx understands, the way that jinx always stands infront of her as soon as there’s any sort of danger, i attached onto her so quickly. i don’t headcanon her as autistic but she reminds me of how i acted sometimes as an autistic kid and that’s endearing to me
With season 2 I feel like the writers were like "we gotta move Jinx to specific points of character development in one season, and the best way we've found to do that is making a new disposable character specifically far pushing her towards the right points"
She is Viktors Sky. Incredible important to the character but bot the audience. Call it plot device but I think stuff like this makes the world feel more alive. Also Ishas Song is probably from design perspective the best one in season 2. Like we get confirmation (as she sings in Chinese) that Isha probably is part Ionian. The fact that most of the audience cant understand the language forces you to listen to melody and to see the world from Ishas perspective. Then we have the fact that Powder unites in Come play Ishas song in a rebellious way (like the random Chinese words sound at one point like „peanut“ -> „peanut patrol“ and „porn“ -> well Vi - Cait and probably Ekko - Powder iykyk. Then the fact that I missed the first time that Isha is mute and a lot of other stuff makes Isha to a perfect support character.
I loved isha, her design was cute and i love how she changed jinx, in some scenes tou can see jinxes eyes turn blue and they are usually with isha. HOWEVER i felt close go nothing for her death i just went "oh fuck jinx saw herself as her older sister jinx is gonna break"
Just gonna say this the show should of done 3 seasons. Where episode 6 is 9 instead. That way Act 2 could have more development and the characters arc's can have more impact rather than a time skip. I can understand why it was rushed in the last 2 acts but with a great show like this it needed 3 seasons
Yeah one thing I didn’t get was why isha didn’t speak at all (almost). It seemed like a weird choice and made her feel less significant as an individual character especially as she started becoming literal Powder reincarnated boosted with jinx’s capabilities to be successful. I loved their relationship and stuff, but as a character isha felt like some kind of magical spirit animal dropped (literally) into jinx’s life to improve it (aka, a literal plot device of a character to move jinx’s character arc forward)
I knew from start that child was gonna die, Jinx had to pay for season 1 somehow. She did start a war and kill a tons of people. This kids characterization was even worse, she kept doing dangerous things and jumping infront of bullets for jinx.😅
Isha fell into a writing trope called "getting fridged". It's when a character has no personality goals or motivation other than to make the MC happy and dies purely to make them sad. The term originated from an old Green Lanter comic where the Main character comes home to find his wife murdered and he finds her body stuffed in their fridge. The Wife wasn't really a character, she was always just a plot device. Originally the trope was called "women in refrigerators" to reflect that it was usually women placed in this role.
Yeah, and it'd be more realistic if Jinx had passed on some of her generational trauma to Isha instead. I do like the idea of Jinx getting an adoptive daughter, maybe it could've been one of the kids she orphaned? Idk, just anything but the rushed redemption arc.
Hey I’m not sure if you’ve already made a video about this but can someone explain to me how the doctor made Warwick. Like did he keep vanders body and mix the wolf with it later?
i can’t agree with feeling nothing for her, i adore her so much - but the minute i saw her i knew the poor thing was going to be used as a plot device. still was absolutely devastated when it happened though, and still am torn up about how i think they handled it
I hard agree with this, every time she kept appearing I thought “theres no way this girl will be a major character” because she was so forgettable on her own. She has no presence as a character and she only exists in conjunction with jinx. If they touched a bit on her background then I would probably care more but even when she died I still didnt really see her as a full character and I didnt feel bad about her death on a personal level
Completely agree, Isha is cute, but that's all i knew about her. I literally thought she was a boy for a good few episodes, thats how little i knew about her
A little out of context. When isha show up my reaction was like " Oh yeah, give jinx a child to take care of so she know what it's like to care for a child "
She was a cheap plot device. They introduced a mute kid only to kill her off, so the audience could see Jinx rediscover her humanity.... it's a horrible narrative choice 🙄
I'm glad youre posting this, cuz, me and my gf called that out immediately after the episode that Isha died. I wasnt invested in her at all, are we supposed to sympathize her solely because shes a lost child? She didnt have much character at all.
I don’t know why but I was not a fan of Isha. I feel bad and wished I was interested in her character when she was introduced- but I immediately just saw an over confident kid that was too capable for zero reason with tons death flags. My girlfriend loved her, I could just never get attached
But bet money the company from arcane is going to pull something completely stupid like have Isha be secretly Yordles so she can come back with Heimerdinger😅
Unfortunately, it's true. We have zero information on Isha. We can only assume the obvious about her: an orphan that can't speak (whether it's a condition or she's just like that), doesn't have anyone, and kind of a troublemaker. We only see anything about her almost through Jinx perspective. It's also like a do-over for Jinx to make ammends with herself, to have someone to care for and protect them... I love Isha mainly because of her relationship with Jinx, but yeah, that's like the whole point of her character.
I couldn't agree more. Don't get me wrong, I love Isha and I was very sad when she died, but as a character, her whole story revolves around Jinx. How I see it, she is in the show just to influence Jinx, and she, on her own, is not that deep and interesting as a character
NGL I disliked Isha as this ultimate plot device who had "gonna die this series" vibe Also she tried to killsteal on Warwick thanks the gods she Powdered
I disagree. Isha has the same heroic energy as Ekko. Her city mistreats her yet she disguises as Jinx, risking her life to encourage people. Isha is an authentic Zaunite. She sacrificed to save Jinx and everyone is not the first and only heroic thing she does in the show.
Her being mute was an interesting choice. I heard someone say that because of that, her voice will never haunt Jinx the way her other loved ones did.

her death, while sad for me, was not necessarily sad for losing the character but for losing the potential of a character
She's what me and my brother call a
"Bob Character," a new character who is most likely going to die later in the storyline their a part of. We came up with the term after seeing Bob from Stranger Things 2 because we both looked at each other and knew he was gonna die. We even placed money on it.
Edit: In other words, a walking plot device.
I appreciate the way Schnee put it. She's jinxs wild rune form. Not jinx or powder but both at once
am i the only one who didnt realise she was mute until like half way in with her, idk why i just thought she didnt talk much
I cringed when she was introduced.
Thats not a problem as Arcane s2 just goes and manage SO many characters that is inevitably to someone be left behind, but both Isha and Sky had this weird feeling of "they can be much more than the assigned destiny"
Why was Isha running away from gang members in her introduction? We will never khow
Why was Sky even doing at all? We will never khow.
Exactly. I never really thought her death was sad or really impactful on me as the viewer. But as a fan of the show and the affect it would have on Jink, absolutely huge. To me the saddest part was when Vander was essentially was erased like a hard drive when Victor took Warwicks body’s.
I agree with everything you said. Perfectly captures what I’ve always thought about isha
had someone describe her as "giving Jinx a puppy with a big 'going to die' sticker on it" and... yeah...
looking at her in this light, she almost seems like a little spirit, came into Jinx’s life with no warning at the perfect time and left in a dramatic and emotional way that propelled Jinx forwards (even if not in a positive direction).
I think she was her own little character for sure and her death may have been predictable but that actually is the real tragedy of it, how obviously and powerfully these violent behaviors and cycles continue when we don’t walk away and involve our kids in them
Anybody who says Isha is a bad character is immediately getting a dislike I refuse to hear any slander
Totally agree, honestly if they revealed in the end she was just a figment of Jinx's imagination I would have been more moved
My 6yo son was watching along and he was very attached to Isa, he was very sad she died
The first moment she and jinx bonded i knew she was going to die
Arcane doesnt like to make characters happy for longer than 2 minutes
Hahaha it sounded so funny to say that a mute character has no lines, except for the part where she was crying
EXACTLY! She just felt so fake to me, like, oh, look at this wonderful perfect kid 🙄
“I don’t like Isha as a character”
*lists all the reasons to like Isha as a character*
I never wanted a jinx redemption so yk
This kids characterization was even worse, she kept doing dangerous things and jumping infront of bullets for jinx.😅
not me screaming "TEEMO" during the sacrificial act.
Bro she is kid What do u expect
Having more development other that being just,,,,cute in cámara and dying; why was she running for the gang members, as example? We will never khow
@@MeatdeposityUnless if we get clarification
@skytheemperor Arcane storyline ended, i doubt we will even get exploration on characters that died outside of probably Viktor/Vander
@ It was pretty much confirmed that we’ll potentially get spin offs
@ Arcane is only the beginning tho
She reminded Jinx of Powder and in the end she did become powder, the parallels in this show truly can’t be outmatched.
she’s just a poorly written way to undo the character development they set up for jinx in season 1
Yeah, and it'd be more realistic if Jinx had passed on some of her generational trauma to Isha instead. I do like the idea of Jinx getting an adoptive daughter, maybe it could've been one of the kids she orphaned? Idk, just anything but the rushed redemption arc.
Thank goodness I'm not the only one that felt this way
Arcane would be overloaded with characters I guess. So all of Isha's interactions are just with Jinx, maybe if the story were longer....
Hey I’m not sure if you’ve already made a video about this but can someone explain to me how the doctor made Warwick. Like did he keep vanders body and mix the wolf with it later?
I felt similarly, didn't feel sad she died just went "yep, there is the plot device I expected to occur, all according to every media ever" lmfao
We listen and we don't judge. I like Maddie more than Isha
we are judging
@flowchartkenYT :(
I had no sadness for her death only “hell yea what a way to go”
Isha was never meant to be a character, you’re supposed to care for her based on how her story impacted Jinx.
Why does everyone keep saying that Isha is saying something during the prison escape? Shes just yelling…
I already knew Isha was just a plot device and would be killed off somehow she just seem to be perfect for Jinx.
She was okay. She did come out of nowhere and we had nothing to go on, other than she was an orphan and pissed off some gang members.
i can’t agree with feeling nothing for her, i adore her so much - but the minute i saw her i knew the poor thing was going to be used as a plot device. still was absolutely devastated when it happened though, and still am torn up about how i think they handled it
ISHA IS MY FAV CHARACTER😰😰😰
I hard agree with this, every time she kept appearing I thought “theres no way this girl will be a major character” because she was so forgettable on her own. She has no presence as a character and she only exists in conjunction with jinx. If they touched a bit on her background then I would probably care more but even when she died I still didnt really see her as a full character and I didnt feel bad about her death on a personal level
Completely agree, Isha is cute, but that's all i knew about her. I literally thought she was a boy for a good few episodes, thats how little i knew about her
I didn’t cry or felt sad like others when she sacrificed herself
A little out of context.
When isha show up my reaction was like " Oh yeah, give jinx a child to take care of so she know what it's like to care for a child "
I feel like when writing arcane they figured out they should put something else instead of Ziggs and Isha was born
She was a cheap plot device. They introduced a mute kid only to kill her off, so the audience could see Jinx rediscover her humanity.... it's a horrible narrative choice 🙄
I don’t think she’s a plot device-A character doesn’t need to speak to have their own motivations.
Finaly some one who dares to say it clear! 🔥🗣🔥
Bro I felt the exact same way when Isha died
In the end, she truly became powder
I'm glad youre posting this, cuz, me and my gf called that out immediately after the episode that Isha died. I wasnt invested in her at all, are we supposed to sympathize her solely because shes a lost child? She didnt have much character at all.
Yeah I never cared for Isha. I only cared for Jinx’s caring for Isha
I don’t know why but I was not a fan of Isha. I feel bad and wished I was interested in her character when she was introduced- but I immediately just saw an over confident kid that was too capable for zero reason with tons death flags. My girlfriend loved her, I could just never get attached
Please stop telling people she said mama.
She didn’t she said aaahyaaa the was yelling. Jinx was her older sister. Isha was the sister jinx never had.
Good I'm not the only person who feels this😅
But bet money the company from arcane is going to pull something completely stupid like have Isha be secretly Yordles so she can come back with Heimerdinger😅
She was literally dropped into the series😆
I don’t fully agree but I see where you’re coming from!
Same ❤ I thought I was the only one lol
I couldn't agree more. Don't get me wrong, I love Isha and I was very sad when she died, but as a character, her whole story revolves around Jinx. How I see it, she is in the show just to influence Jinx, and she, on her own, is not that deep and interesting as a character
Anyone else think Riot games should change their minds and make a season three?
I was devistated when she died
I got too attached to this kid, I still can't watch THAT episode...
She really needed more screen time but it wasn’t really her fault
I'd appreciate you not reading my mind for hot takes in the future. If it isn't obvious I agree pretty much 100%.
NGL I disliked Isha as this ultimate plot device who had "gonna die this series" vibe
Also she tried to killsteal on Warwick thanks the gods she Powdered
Yeah she's a pretty great example of fridging. She's a character just put in the show to die and y9u cam tell that from the moment she's introduced
I disagree. Isha has the same heroic energy as Ekko. Her city mistreats her yet she disguises as Jinx, risking her life to encourage people. Isha is an authentic Zaunite. She sacrificed to save Jinx and everyone is not the first and only heroic thing she does in the show.
Wdym i still cry about isha😭😭😭
Isha isn’t mute, she's deaf
She was a prop, a plot device. That is all i will say.
