I love how her arc is about loyalty to Zaun’s independence from Vander to Silco to Jinx to she herself becoming the face of Zaun as a member of the council
And some people is forcing the idea about Savika is Renata but her character and motivation is different as Savika do her thing her Zaun as whole while Renata doesn't care about it but her revenge on Pilthover and more direct to Camille's family
Her arm also represents who leads zaun. Regular arm - vander Shimmer arm - silco No arm - leaderless Gimmick arm - jinx Covered arm (finale no idea what arm she has) - sevika
She’s not strictly loyal to individuals, she is loyal to the cause of Zaunite independence. She gambles on whoever she believes will bring about her desired change
And poetically it was she herself who will do so in the end, she probably only thought of herself as the muscle the one getting her Hand(s) dirty for someone that will bring that change. She probably never thought she would be the one at the helm of Zaunite Independence
She’s a follower, with a brain, not blindly following but supporting those whose ideals match with hers, and as others have changed or wavered she has stayed the course until she was the person who had to stand up for zaun as a leader figure
She never betrayed anyone, because no single person ever had her loyalty. Her loyalty was always to Zaun as a whole. Which means whoever she sees as the best person to lead Zaun is who she will back. You can't betray someone you never swore loyalty to in the first place.
@@nmartinez18 yep, she literally tells Silco to his face when he asks her if she was tempted to join Finn “Not for a worm like him, but there will be others.”
Yeah there is also the scene where that chembaron tried to get her to turn and she didn't, but warned Silco to get things in order before she turns to someone who can
I saw this statement where someone said that Sevika isn't loyal to one person but to the nation of Zaun on its people. That's why she protected Jinx and fought with her despite not being a huge fan of her initially. Jinx became a hero and was the next best leader option for Zaun after Silco passed and there certainly was tension before Silco died because he essentially refused Zaun for Jinx. The same thing Vander did. That's why Sevika is in the council at the end because she actually IS the best leader option because she isn't "blinded" by love for family. Her entire being is loyalty towards Zaun and it's people overall. Without her being attached to one, or more, specific individuals. She fights for the people as a whole while Vander and later Silco too prioritized their kids safety and well being over the cause
@@kasmith54 So, only about 1-3% of the population in western countries and even less than that globally "get" her haircut? If so, thank you for supporting my opinion, my fellow vagina enthusiast.
I think this kind of nuance of ideal character traits is what makes the show so good. We realize throughout the show that even true idealism is anything but black and white when it’s applied to reality.
Seriously, have her be a playable character in the game! Come on a one armed Zaunite fighter with a wildcard mechinzed arm powered by Shimmer, let the crazy abilities Roll!! Also I heard that Sevika is loyal not just to Silco but to all the people of Zaun. Its one of the reasons she became a council member which I find justifiable
She wouldn't play the way you'd want. She has to have clear, understandable abilities that telegraph a specific way (because as a non stealthing character, that is standard. It helps with pacing.) So her abilities wouldn't be random and couldn't ever be.
Sevika was never loyal to Vander, nor Silco, nor Jinx or anyone else. She only was loyal to Zaun. Not even the place so much as the idea of it. She worked for Vander because he was working towards Zaun's freedom and independence. Then when he wasn't, she worked for Silco, who although he became a crime lord, never lost sight of what he was fighting for. This is why she never tried to seek revenge on Jinx for killing Silco. His death only mattered in so far as that it made the future path for Zaun more difficult. And although she didn't like Jinx, when she became the symbol of Zaunite resistance she was willing to put any history aside to work with her. Sevika at first glance seemed one dimensional as a thug and mercenary, but by the end we see that her decisions and actions were all in pursuit of a cause that she believed greater than herself.
Silco and sevika fight for a cause. Similarly, Vander and Jinx fight to protect their family. In S1 when vander and vi are gone silco and the rebels are her new family but s2 it's revealed she doesn't fight for the cause.
Someone described her character best where they say that "SHE doesn't think she betrayed Vander." like she thinks that Vander went against their cause and so felt like it was justified to go with Silco instead but that's just my opinion.
The whole thing tho is that scene where silco realizes that vander wasnt fight because he wanted to break the cycle of violence and also empathy for giving up a daugther. The adoptive love was very beautifully showned but later on the showed it wasnt just foster, they actually had connections with the mother and the father who dont explore much
The fact that Sevika was so loyal to the cause that in S2 she reach out to Jinx, because she was now the real symbol of the resolution, of the fight, of the cause, shows that she was never loyal to Vamder or Silco, because in S1 she hated Jinx but in S2 despised her feeling towards her, she still went there to ask her to be part of the movement and inspired people.
People have two entire seasons of her being a loyal dog, her whole ark spinning around loyalty, and they question associating her with loyalty?! Media discourse is so exhausting nowadays
I saw somewhere that she's loyal to ZAUN, that's why she left Vander when she thought he wouldn't fight for it anymore, that's why she took care of Jinx even though she disliked her
Sevika is a loyalty character. Shes loyal to her cause and whoever will help her get there. Thats why she betrays Vamder bc she thinks he betrayed the cause. Its why she didnt betray silco when finn tried to get her too. "Not for a worm like him." She absolutely WOULDVE betrayed Silco if she thought he was slipping and someone better couldve taken over. But there was no one better than silco so she stayed by his side
What she did in no way can be categorised as betrayal. At worse, you can say that she put on her two week notice. She told Vander she was going to leave and Vander said OK, bye
Its also supproted by the mutiny scene in season 1 she blatantly said she wasnt tempted to turn on Silco only because the next person up int je power vacuum doesnt have Zaun's interest at heart, he's a worm. Silco is still better than the runner-up so she'll still work for him, if Finn had been a better option then she probably would have sided with him
I didn't even know people thought Sevika betrayed Vander. I mean the scene in the bar gives zero clues to that, Sevika is clearly an independent voice that challenges Vander outside of his circle of proteges. No idea where they got the idea that she was loyal to his and joined Silco as a betrayal of some kind
I’m actually not a fan of Sevika on the council. As much as Silco goes on about an independent Zaun for the people he himself treated the people of Zaun horribly forcing them to work in factories and selling shimmer on the streets of Zaun and ruining people’s lives. And Sevika was his number one enforcer anybody that wasn’t an employee under Silco and probably a high ranking one at that has probably had a bad experience with her whether it was threatening, torture, or possibly even a death of family member or friend just about anyone who meet her probably had a bad experience. And now she’s supposed to represent them like they should be angry and want her dead not representing their interests.
@@Justintime8838 I don't think they would """mind""" that much Zaun, especially Silco's version, is a dog eat dog world. Look at the kids who tried to rob Vi and the gang in episode 1. That's the thing with the "If", maybe she was terrible, maybe not, we know she isn't a saint but it's not possible to say what she did exactly and in what context she did. Sevika is loyal to zaun and she knows her own limitations. Therefore she follows whoever she thinks is the best for zaun, until theres nobody left but her.

She's loyal to the cause of zauns independence. She'd follow or support anyone who would better zaun. If she thought Finn would have been better for the cause, she wouldn't have killed him.
“She didn’t betray Vander because she doesn’t perceive herself as having betrayed Vander” is a really flimsy argument. It’s just a moment where she acts out of character. It happens with every single character because that’s how people work
