Sadly, Katey Sagal miscarried so they changed it to Al having a dream. Later on in the series, Katey Sagal was pregnant again but they didn't write that into the show. They usually kept Katey's big tummy hidden when she was on camera and then they had Peggy go on a big trip when Katey Sagal was on maternity leave.

I've got the unfortunate priviledge of having experienced something similar with my wife, worse in reality since we thought we were about to give birth when the doctor said ''it doesnt have a pulse'' at 37 weeks and 4 days. Our first too, my wife age 34. You're now in a hospital, on a room of your own, struck by tragedy out of nowhere, listening to new born babies crying whilst yours' is in the morgue. Me, having to go back and take away the crib, the clothes, completely whipe out any sign of what was made with feelings of love, sweet anticipation and joy. And then...the doubts, the fears for the future. Praise be to God both us and Katey, managed to get past this, get babies of our own.

when i was pregnant i started watching this show and when the first episode came on that peggy was pregnant idk it made me feel happy because at the time it was my favorite show to watch before i went to bed and i felt relatable to it, i did end up miscarrying a couple months ago and i just found out recently that Katey was actually pregnant and lost her baby too and it made me feel a little less alone. pregnancy loss is such a lonely and depressing experience i could only image how she felt but im glad the show didn’t make her continue to be pregnant after losing her baby

However, a couple of months after this episode, Katey was absent from the show for the next few weeks because she had complications from the pregnancy and she ended up miscarrying. After Katey was finally able to return, they had to make the story with the baby nothing more then a nightmare sequence for Al.

Yup, I'm at this point in my life too..counting down the few years until I'm free and our daughter is off to college. Unlike Al though, my wife and I have no plans of having any more kids at this stage of our lives. No way in hell we want to restart the clock again lol
I've got 2 daughters ages 9 & 6 our youngest just started school and my wife said back in August: "The house will be so empty" and now my son will be born in May 😂
