In the late 90s and early 2000s we were too poor to have cable but Canal + was airing Looney Tunes for free on evenings you know for us children and after Looney Tunes they were showing some Canal + adds and other stuff and I remember how cool it was for us. Having Canal + was a dream and nowadays I don't even watch modern movies because they are so bad :D Those were fifferent times and way better times for movies.
Today with cable, internet, streaming and all kinds of new channels and services. There are over 900 channels to watch and absolutely nothing worth watching.
You can rent a DirectTV account online for like 3 dollars, and have access to pretty much every DirectTV live channel for 3 months. Cable/Satellite TV is god awful now, even though it's 3 dollars, I still feel ripped off. lol
I had that exact same Sony remote to control my Betamax back in the early '90s! It had an incredible number of buttons and could be programmed to do anything.
@josephtafur In my experience, I've found Pluto and back in the early 00s, digital cable, to be on a 1-2 second delay that makes channel flipping unbearable when you want to breeze through the channel lineup 🤷
I remember getting digital TV around 2000 or so. I was initially blown away by having 200+ channels. However, you eventually get used to having so much choice, and it doesn't deem like choice. Now we have unlimited media watch (functionally), and we can still get bored!
I’ve been there, Al. That’s why I just go with over-the-air broadcast tv. It gets me Fox, NBC, CBS, and ABC, which covers me most weeks the Seahawks are playing. And it costs nothing per month.
Roku gives you 700 Channels for Free …Only need Internet … then again , you get You Tube and Pluto …. If it was 2023 , Bundy would never leave home 😅😅 ❤

@@harryshuman9637I enjoyed two and half men but without a doubt Married with Children destroys that show. Also Sanford and Son is a classic I’m only 38 and love seeing that show.
My Dad would have us go outside and turn the antenna until it was best for one of the three channels we received in the 1960's. He was once asked why he didn't get a motorized antenna rotator, and he said, "That's why I have three boys!" Once, when he was watching a football game on a cold sleeting Sunday, I went to adjust the antenna to try to get a better picture, and it would come in perfect if I touched the pole. My brothers and I had to keep it up via human relay. Commercials were a Godsend!😂

We had one main tv in the living room. Just basic OTA. At some point my parents signed us up for Wometco Home Theater. It was broadcast over the UHF band, but we got stuff not on the regular broadcasters. I do recall seeing some adult entertainment on it.
I remember when cable FIRST came out; they still had 'Beta-machines,' BEFORE VCR's. FRIDAY night movie's was only $1.00 YEP! (ONE DOLLAR). Six pack of coke 0,25 Cents, Mcdonald's combo meal 0.99 Cents, gallon of milk 0.50 Cents, candy bars (3 for a dollar) new pair of jeans $5.00 bucks, gallon of gas 0.75 cents, and a (LARGE 5-topping pizza) only $4.99. And a LARGE THAN was '16' inch. TODAY its '14' inch. So not only has the price of pizza SKYROCKETED. they've actually gotten SMALLER.
I remember when HBO was the only cable channel my family had. Every time the network's theme music intro started (when the giant HBO logo flew into the night), I anxiously waited for "Fraggle Rock" to come on.
Tbf, if you look past the miserable thinking, sometimes, even Al himself has good points, especially about the state of most women in the Western world these days. Not to mention, this show’s made possible just because there are jokes that still stand the test of time.
The original promise of cable TV was zero commercials....now you have more commercials than when tv was thru your antenna😂😂😂
The answer to ads . . . Adblock, mute button, channel changing, streaming and, the nuclear option . . . torrenting.
I grew up in the 80s kids nowadays would never understand how exciting it was when we finally got cable

Having a remote was a big day for us, even though it was on a lead 😅🤣😂
Oh, I remember those days. I used to study the TV guide to see what Harryhousen film was on TMC and what-not.
My Dad got us cable in the late 70s. A brown box with buttons you had to push down. I think it only had 18 channels. No remote control.
Your lucky. I didn’t even have cable most of my life. Had to watch tv using an antennae that I had to keep readjusting to barely watch tv…..
Kelly getting back at Bud and Al laughing about it 😂😂😂😂
the humour was always so on point.
A show from a age that predates wokeness.A true jewel,a funny jewel.
"Where's mom?"
"She's out shopping."
"Good, then the whole family is here." 😂😂😂
Christina Applegate was perfect looking back in the day.
She still is.
TV's so boring now, I just watch 80s reruns, this was THE BEST ♥️ 🇦🇺

Back when cable was better, and arguably more worth watching. (1992-2008 is the golden age of cable in my opinion, but that's just me).
What I wouldn’t do to time travel. I’d bring a ton of blank DVDs with me (and a DVR) so I can record everything!

Sony was my favorite brand back then.
I wonder if Al can afford cable TV nowadays. Great 2-part ep.
CABLE and INTERNET--NOWADAY'S .... cost MORE than my truck payment!
No cable. I have TH-cam for free since this device picks up the Internet without a subscription. It's on a tablet, but it's free!
The answer would be NO! Remember the episode where the Bundy's couldn't afford a TV Guide anymore.
The funny thing about it there are really families out there like this haha!
A pair of jeans that said Guess. So, I guessed size 42 😂😅
I can totally understand this , our family never did get cable.

No. He would have loved it. Because he would have seen his Hondo and Psycho Dad all the time.
Al's reactions to some of the channels 🤣🤣
