The show was controversial back in the day, but looking at it now, the Bundy's were more virtuous and closer than most families today. Al Bundy never cheated on his wife even when given the opportunity with Vanna White. Peggy never cheated on Al and always adored him. Al went to a job he hated each and every day to provide for his family. Although the Bundys quarreled with each other, if anyone messed with their family, they were all brawling.

Might be but he, as sexist, ALWAYS fails. The feminists on the otherhand are shown as crazy so all in all i think the show does not prefere one over the other.
spidermann5000 If you really break down Married with Children and look at it from a morale prespective, the show is all about the man’s sacrifice to become a “provider” for his family. Yes, Al “hates” his wife and he is clearly annoyed by his children, but he keeps going to a job he despises every single day, and he comes home from it every single day. While he hates his life, he still sticks around and provides for both his wife and his children. Al Bundy may be sexist, arrogant, rude and lazy, but he’s loyal to his family, not once does he abandon them. One of the intro songs shows Al sitting in a couch handing out money to his family with a depressed look on his face. One must ask why he doesn't just take the money and leave? It's because he actually loves his family. Just listen to the lyrics of the opening song; “Love and marriage, love and marriage, goes together like a horse and carriage, this I tell you brother, you can’t have one without the other”. It is basically a tale of a man making a sacrifice. Now I may be looking way too deep into this, but the whole show portrays, in a very tragic way, the plight and duty of a husband and father. Al is very much portrayed as a “hero” in many ways, but a hero that loses. He never gets his way because he puts his family first, and that is why he is so bitter.
Well Said, Very well said. It is a bit too deep, but still Personally I never seen it from that kind of point of view. Sacrifice..yes..I agree. That in itself shows that he wants to protect his daughter, NOT to mention some Scene when the Bundy Family was fighting some Other Family at a park or something. RIP Married With Children. I LOVED your show and you will live on on TH-cam and our memories!
I remember reading back in the day that this show was secretly one of the best places for opportunities for women. More women writers on the staff than most shows, Amanda Bearse directed 31 episodes (and was able to go on to do more at other shows), and as you can see from this compilation it was one of the only opportunities for overweight comedians/actresses to get work for a long time. It's another great example of how, if they followed the Rules of post 2010 Wokeness and destroyed this show, they would be ironically stripping all sorts of opportunity from the very people they purport to want to help.

Well someone did try to cut it down back then too. But thankfully, more people loved it than hated it.
@@99thJediWarrior they literally mentioned her in the show lol got the tv show cancelled and football haha
Sadly, a sitcom like this today would never fly because of all the whiny, sensitive people that have nothing better to do but get offended by anything, everything and anyone that even sneezes the wrong way.sad how far backwards we have gone.
Al Bundy for President 2016, anyone?
Ace's High ye
War with the French? I could live with that.
Joseph Scott me too
I Set Fires You know Married with two kids was a really popular Sitcom in France, right ? I watched it growing up. Loved that shit. And man Katey Sagal was (and still is!) a babe. So yeah why should we fight ? I say let's just sit down and watch reruns !
Mimosa E. she is still hot, but was it the same show?
"Hey honey! Did you miss me"?
"WITH EVERY BULLET SO FAR!"
This show was the Karen destroyer
We need Al Bundy now more than ever.
Most men in America could relate with Al Bundy better than any other character on T.V.
Agreed! Except for him not wanting to give it to Peggy. I mean I can't be the only one who thought Peggy was hot! lol
"Who would you rather spend the night with, your wife or....?"
" B "
Ha.
I miss humor like this. Fuck people's feelings nowadays, honestly...
@catonatinroof I'm 29... people in the 90's and even 2000-2010 had much thicker skin than people nowadays.
@catonatinroof hey screw you :)
@@madmike9398 dont generilse a hole generation people protested married with children to they just didnt have Twitter to be overly heard
@catonatinroof Lol ok pussy
@catonatinroof ok redditer
"Women want sex as much as we do. They just don't show it because... Well, that's just how spiteful they are." -- Al Bundy
This show would be eviscerated in today's culture.
So true! Everyone looks to be offended
The women who played his customers have top notch humor!!
Let's hear it for all the women who felt comfortable enough in their own skin to be cast on a show JUST to be insulted for their size. 👏 👏 👏
Hey 50 bucks is 50 bucks
Got em a few Big Mac meals : )
I wondered if that one woman was the one who played Jenny Sacrimoni in Sopranos
@@deafmusician2 Right? I was just thinking the same thing, then read your comment.

With America being overrun with Karens, we need Al more than ever!
I have to say, big respect to all those non-hourglass-figure actresses that had enough chill to play in this show.
Yes sometimes I feel sorry for them.
Great call Jeru, it was funny as fuck humour for that time, but I must admit feeling uneasy at the plight of the actresses filling those roles.
Hey,20 bucks is 20 bucks!
@@danielkirby819 they got their revenge in one episode.
Watched this with my mom as a kid was a great growing up experience. We both loved it. Miss you mom.
Back when it was still allowed to tell jokes without getting cancelled
In the age of political correctness taken to extremes, watching Al Bundy's jokes is particularly satisfying.
"Excuse me, but am I invisible?!"
"Possibly from Pluto" 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Fat Woman: I've just have had enough of you.
Al: You wouldn't say that if I came with medium fries and a drink. You know medium, the size between small and You!
@@ladyfire44
I want a balloon
You already got one
Gotta give credit to those larger ladies taking those acting gigs and not getting all upitty. The good ole days, when people had a sense of humor and could take a joke without getting offended.
“Don’t make fun of our weight 2, 4, 6, 8 Don’t make fun of our weight!!”
*”1, 2, 3, 4 Your gonna fall though the floor!”*
Man you'll NEVER see anything like this on tv today.
Hence why it's actually funny.
The times when people didnt get offended by everything
No matter how hard he tried.
No. Only the overweight got sad when they were made fun of. So no problem there i guess.
I'm fat as hell 6 ft 295 doesn't mean I get offended by what someone says and if it did I would work a little harder losing it. I'm not being made fun of for something I cant control it was my bad choices in diet and exercise that got me here
@@goblue7100 Yeah, that is you and that is fine. But i happen to know people who are so fed up with overweight being made fun of. It kind of sends the signal that they are less valued and looked down on.
@@andreaswiklund7197 to be fair, al talked shit to everyone not just fat ppl
"How dare you say that to my face."
"Well I'd say it behind your back but my car only has half a tank of gas."
One of the best lines ever.
Yeah best insult hands down! Very creative and hilarious!
Surprised TH-cam doesn't pull this for violations of hurting fat feelings
Al Bundy is the quintessential experienced male (even greater than an alpha) lol he's made so many mistakes that he jus knows what he's talkin about
The world is so fucked up right now that this show would be banned right after the first episode. Sad...
no the show would be on tv , becuase people knows the different of a joke or insult , not everyone the guy in the white house can not see the different
Who's here to escape all the BULLSHIT in 2020!!
I feel fortunate that I grew up with this show, nowadays this would be cancelled, what a shame
