- Brigitte was supposed to save Overwatch.
The game was being dominated by a single meta, Dive, and every match was playing out the exact same way.
So Blizzard designed Brigitte, the perfect counter to Dive. She would fix everything and make Overwatch fun to watch again..
Instead, she destroyed the game.

She maybe does not even know what Overwatch is or even if she does she does not deserve the hate because it was her job to do the voices. And please be respectful towards someone's profession sir, voice acting is a pretty challenging work so calling it as "read into a walkie talkie" is a bit disrespectful don't you think?

if a character is created to completely change an ecosystem by taking down the strongest, then that makes the character that took down the alphas the alpha. Idk why people complained about the dive meta

The over the Brigitte voice actress reminds me when people poured hate over Ahmed Best who played Jar Jar in the Star Wars prequels. He received so much hate that considered suicide. Just because he did his job as an actor and played the role.

Ok, last I checked TF2 was overrun by bots because it has become some bizarre trend. But it did last a hell of a lot longer than Overwatch being a great game with no real problems.
@@lagg1e Zero. Tf2 has had no problems? Do you know how many years it's been since the last major content update? Overwatch isn't dead, and even for the sake of your argument let's say it is. At least it's playable, you can't play tf2 in valve's official servers anymore. You'll have to get lucky to find a match with players and even then there might be a human cheater in the lobby. Most of tf2's content creators have left due to it not being fun anymore or due to the bots. The tf2 community likes to accept the fact that it's still alive and even if it is, it'll soon die.

@@Dantefrost Not that less Widow maker is good or bad but that's always been a problem with her. She's a one trick pony that could never do anything else. Most other dps's have other utility but not Widow maker. More shields just exacerbated that problem.

I picked up overwatch again about a year ago and I just wanted to play Play her because I like the character design and being a support character. I quickly realized if I could be this good with her just picking it up I feared what a true pro could do

Brig is the biggest example of “be careful of what you wish for”. She did exactly what she was meant to do - kill Dive. And then with Goats, people were going “oh wow I miss Dive”. It’s funny.

Captain Retro it depends on how you look at it. goats was going to happen no matter what (probably moira, Lucio, zen/ana if brig didn’t exist) and the only thing she did was make people notice it way faster because it was way stronger.
Damn that's messed up, why would anyone mess with the voice actor she didn't have a hand in the development of the character, she was just doing her job.
Some people have trouble differentiating actors from their characters. Just look at what happened to Anikin's actor from Phantom Menace.

It’s insane looking back to see how much they’ve nerfed her since launch. Healing reduced, HP reduced by 50, shield from 600 to 200. E no longer gives bonus armour. And... she’s still playable. They really did realease an OP character.

The timing of this is hilarious. Blizzard reworked her to be a much more passive hero, but it turns out shes still ridiculously strong and people want her nerfed AGAIN
after her 4th rework her play style got way better than before and it was way more balanced, but this new rework in the experimental card is just too much

@@ShadowFri3nd Her healing packs no longer give armor, and damn sure didn't get a buff to its recharge rate or the amount they heal. Her shield got a 50 hit point increase to 250 but its recharge rate is now slower.

This is what happens when you focus so hard on becoming an E-Sport the same year of the game's release instead of BALANCING your game first.
Blizzard solely just wanted an E-Sport cash grab, and they yanked so hard on the cow's teat while trying to milk it that they ripped it straight off and killed the cow.

Since no one else is actually telling you. You're wrong because Blizzard actually went the opposite route-- they didn't care about the esports scene and leaned towards more casual gameplay. It wasn't until 2018 where the OWL came out and they wanted to focus more on that.

Honestly, as someone who stopped playing OW, the issue is that every game is the same, no matter what the meta is. There is no game to game variation, because the roles are too limited. Support means healing. Your primary job is to keep your team up, and that's all you do. Game after game after game. Tanks are much the same way. Support in Dota offers a huge variety of reposibilities. You are primarily in charge of warding and keeping carries alive, but that takes many different forms. You might be an initiator. You might be a roamer. You might be the healer. You might be a nuker. So if you aren't playing carry, there is still a lot of flashy plays you can make. To me at the end of the day, there is a design issue at the core of Overwatch that kills any of the potential the game has.
Plus it just feels corporate, bland, and generic, but that might just be me.
This is 100% the same reason I quit too. It's just the same shit... Every single game... I have friends that have played this since launch every day and I just cannot wrap my head around it. Like a year into playing it and you've seen everything there is to see. You've played every scenario there is to play. And God forbid you wanna get to the higher levels of the game. Because at that point it isn't about playing the game it's about playing the meta whether you like it or not. Then what's the point? Also the characters get so boring. No builds, no customization of abilities, no weapon variation... Just the same old shit
That's so true. I played competitive shooters like CS and MOBAS like LoL, Dota, HotS, and Overwatch has that problem that every fucking game is the same. Roles are repetitive and every time you pick a champ you know exactly what you'll be doing for the whole game. Your behavior is almost untouched by the enemy team compisiton, like every champ has to be played the same, game after game, to be most effective. And don't get me started on the tactics. Basically no need for tactics when the whole team can just dive in, game after game, and win with 0 strategy. And no matter what you do, you can't counter that. The game would have been so much better if characters could have had different weapons and a bit changed up skills, like buying items or talents, to change their play style from game to game.
In the end, I left the game because I got bored. Bored of the same gameplay, champ by champ, game by game. Bored of the lore that got an update like once or twice a year. What a collosal failure.

BadatStuff aphelios isn’t nearly as bad as brig. Upon release, he may have been the strongest ADC in the game, but at least he didn’t invalidate an entire class of champions and actually had weaknesses. Aphelios is immobile and kind of hard to play if you’re new to him, whereas brig was pretty brain dead.

I’ve been following Brigitte VA for a long time and didn’t even know she was getting hate messages....I remember meeting her in person at an event 2 years ago, she was so sweet and so happy to voice the character! But she’s not the one who designed Brigitte’s core functions so she shouldn’t be hated either way.
This assumes people are rational when all evidence of history says otherwise, people are naturally passionate and when they see that passion snuffed they look for the source. They can't get mad at blizzard because they just ban you for speaking out (hello Winnie :p) so they choose the voice though they shouldn't again nothing about this is rational.

Paladins has the items and cards system to prevent things like this. In Paladins, if the enemy team is abusing shields- then you can buy Wrecker to destroy shields faster. Paladins also has an item to reduce crowd control.
Yeah but paladins has its own problems, servers can be fine but then be absolute dog shit for months, the maps while they layout is decent they are so ugly, also the bugs... The fucking bugs, they fix one thing then break 10 more
Personally i find that the biggest issue with Paladins is that it crashes way too frequently. Not only does it crash constantly, but it takes anywhere from 3 to 6 minutes just to get back into a match you were kicked out of.
It wouldnt be such a problem if it wasnt for the fact that the bot Paladins puts in your place is fucking trash and wastes credits on unneeded items.
yeah but then you have maeve, that can kill you one shot if at/under 30% health and reset abilities pretty fast, but she still needs more buffs because its the waifu...
Deep down it's a great game, but devs are more interested in giving heroes that have already 20 skins even more skins and not fixing bugs. If they just fixed all the damn bugs the game would be at least playable and fun
Thread summary: fix bugs, optimize game, optimize servers, remove online bot, stop making skins, fuck maeve.
I feel like one thing worth mentioning about brig and the reason she was so strong was because of dive. Dive had been meta for a very long time and people were honestly bored of it. They tried to counter it with a buff to junkrat but that didn't work so brig was the answer. People will always complain, but goats went for far too long imo.
Another reason is Blizzard to long to fix it
And the root of the issue is the lack of ban-pick system like DotA. If each team have to go to ban-pick phase like Dota, the most OP one absolutely be banned from first two ban waves.

In terms of skill required she’s basically mercy on crack.
Requires zero skill or aim like mercy, but can disrupt play so well at low and even high level play. They introduced a lot of really important supports, for better or worse.
Every support that was added has the ability to shut down ultimates with just their cool downs. Yet OGs like Lucio and Zen can only counter ultimates with their own ultimate. As a result Lucio and mostly Zen receive zero love anymore, yet receive no quality of life changes.

Midway though S4 when the Bastion meta rolled out, I dipped because I knew this game could only go downhill at that point.

The support role makes Overwatch more unique than other shooters. When they introduced Doomfist you no longer can position well, win 1v1 skirmish, exist without relying on your team. Of course in top 500 this isn't an issue. But in the majority rank where millions upon millions play his kit is too disrupting. His counter is skillful mechanics and he doesn't need team play to get value in ranks with a disparity of this. Brigitte ruined Overwatch League. But Doomfist ruined Overwatch.

Lets be honest here. With the lawsuit that Blizzard has on their hands, I'm honestly losing hope for the game. Overwatch meant so much to me but with this whole lawsuit, Overwatch 2 may not be even a thing at all. Blizzard is going down a dark path when it comes to making these balance changes and with how they treat their employees.

I remember coming back to overwatch after 2 years and wondering why the queue is so long. After 3 games with long queue i uninstall the game. Never know what was the reason behind the long queue until i reach this video

This was 100% the downfall of Overwatch to me. I think I barely played competitive after her release, prior to her release I played very often.
Season 10 was brigs release I haven't played the game since #1 tracer on PS4 s9 4600sr
I remember the exact second i gave up on overwatch
I was playing zenyatta being able to defend myself or have teammates protecting me from their dps, and then, brigette just casually walks past my whole team (who were unleashing everything on her) all the way to me who was hanging out in the very back of the team, and then just uses that old bullshit combo, stun, swing, whip, and kills me in an instant, then immediately just turns around and walks back to her team, with only her shield broken, it wasn't even my team's fault, there was nothing they were able to do, they unleashed everything into her, stun, dps, I had a discord orb on her and it barely did anything to her
I just gave up, right there and then, why should I master this character when there's some moron who could jusy W+M2 their way past my team and just annihilate me without any effort
And then blizzard waited 6 months to finally address her with a decent nerf, and then 1 extra month to get her out of the ptb, fucken ridiculous
Feel you. I got so frustrated by the lack of counterplay you had as a player. Like, every champion plays the same, game by game, regardless of the enemy team compisiton. There's always some champion that's op, and those that are trash. There's literally nothing you can do to adapt your champion to the current situation. The only valuable choice is to pick another op champion, but then the enemy picks another op champion and the nonsense continues.
In Counter Strike you can change out your weapon load out for the given situation, in MOBAs you can buy items or get talents that change your skills. Champion roles are much more flexible. If Brigitte as a supp is too tanky, you could buy armor and shield penetration items/talents to kill her. Honestly something like that would save Overwatch. It would allow for counterplay.

Its not only fun, having to do a ton of cps and perfect plays to counter 1 click from an enemy character, having to do alot of stuff to make value instead of existing and making value is not fair, you could just main brig and stomp people 2 ranks over your rank just by playing her. Imagine having to play a braindead character cause she creates more value than you playing something that needs more skill.

@@herdinstinct8282 The game was ruined for me after moira's release. At that point I realized that they aren't going to release high skill heroes, instead they'll dish out no aim and broken ones on launch. I used to play genji before he fell off meta, I switched to zarya and ana and peaked at 3.7k

Blizzard hate aside, and talking objectively, this is a lession in balancing and to not just powercreep things up, but make sure the standard concept that you use for balance is respected.
I know is harder than just patching in a solution but...well you see what happens when your solution has no counter.
Imagine everyone being sick of the Dive meta. And then GOATS happened. For real, be careful what you wish for. Dive was so fun to play and watch. And then the community got tired of it, and metas in OW got worse ever since Dive was out.

Gotta admit that getting stunned is quite anoying, but only bad players (like me) get stunned a lot. She made rein/winston really hard/frustrating to play and Orissa is just boring in general.

The worst part is that support mains actually defended brig saying "just adapt derp derp she's not op". And now you see even after brig being nerfed 15 times she's still meta lol. A lot of the trash ow community doesn't even want balance, they just want ez op heroes to cheese their way to the top.

It was always walk up as Rein holding your shield up for your team, getting stunned by a Brig, into being melted by the enemy team and suddenly you left your team on a 5v6.
I quit the game shortly after that. Only returned after 2-2-2 was added

Yeah I would play overwatch again if it wasn't for the balance problems it all started with mercy.
The thing is that Brig was the response to something that was already broken. Before her, Doomfists, Tracers, Genjis would all go largely uncontested because in the hands of a good player no one really could stop them. Playing support back in the days of the dive meta was just NOT fun. You were always the first target and it didn't matter how good your positioning or mechanics were, it only mattered how well your team could peel for you so you could do just enough for your team to win the fight before you finally died to the constant onslaught of attacks thrown at you (same thing if you played any character with low mobility, really). But then Blizzard's move was to totally tip the scale to the other side by dropping Brigitte with a seriously OVERLOADED kit.
i legit told everyone once i saw her kit that the game was dead. Instead of balancing their game, they literally created a character to counter the meta they created....
When people so bored of dive meta, Brigs came and omagod i miss dive meta, at least its exciting

@@TransparentEclipse honestly... no. Goats was maybe not mechanically demanding, but you needed coordination and teamwork more than in every other meta. You couldn't just rely on one guy clicking heads.
That's why Vancouver was so dominant in the early state of the league, and lost ground to the shock during the season. They had the best established chemistry and other teams needed to catch up.
Honestly, Goats itself was not the problem. But stale metas tend to annoy the Player-/Fanbase

you haven't seen League of Legends everytime there's a broken champion just running around and dominating the rift and they can't even reword their champions correctly AND to top things off their champion releases like Sett, Aph and Senna completely broke the game.
The problem I have with Overwatch is all the skill based gameplay has been shaved off. The only advantage to DPS was quick kills and skilled plays. There are so many barriers, heals, crowd controls and tanky characters that it makes DPS players really hard to shine now. Why play a DPS when you can play a tank or support that still does some DPS with no aim required, a huge health pool with more tools? Play of the game boiling down to whoever hit Q in a teamfight is beyond boring after the first few times you seen it.
