I love how the balance team just decided to introduce 2 2 2 instead of actually rebalancing the meta
pretty much trying to bandaid the situation which never works long term, then they realize why people are quiting the game
They really needed to remove brig for a while and completely redesign her, but blizzard being the arrogant idiots they are, refuse to acknowledge any mistakes they make (and brig was a massive one).
@@bradhurst6834 What's even more baffling is that they can just introduce another set of characters that could reshape the meta with their kits filling in niches. Bridget filled every niche and that's what made her so strong. Tank/Healer/DPS Killer is just insane and far too strong in basically any team based game. Like Blizzard seems to forget that having more specialized characters rather than a generalized character will keep a healthy meta because each character fulfills a nice.
ozy how exactly can team comps change if you’re locked into a 2-2-2 comp, also Brigitte was literally the main cause behind the GOATS meta so Brigitte should have been what got nerfed. Please don’t strawman me and say I want to nerf every character into the ground
But, introducing 2-2-2 worked? The problem was different variations of the goats lineup, 2-2-2 100% stopped it. Plus it really helped us who were stuck in the lower ranks.
brig's va seems like a very nice person. she shouldn't be getting hate because of the character she voices. she isn't the one who decides the character's strength.

Overwatch league killed overwatch. Blizzard became too obsessed trying to perfect that than the game and the characters. Now, literally no one cares about the league and they are back to sorting the characters out but it's a bit too late.

@@clayy5095 OWL killed overwatch, it created a monopoly on the pro scene and squished all amateur or semi pro tournaments that were not contenders. It brought 2-2-2, which morphed the meta into Mei comps and double shield, and killed ranked que experience for tanks that were forced onto Orisa and sigma, and dps that now have to wait forever. You say people really like it but that's just not true. OWL viewership numbers were exposed for being inflated due to token farmers and third party embedded streams. The switch to TH-cam showed this twofold. The amount of people that play overwatch and watch owl is probably less than 5 percent. It's a cringe, heavily PC, normie focused league that doesn't line up with the interest of most gamers. There were alot of people hired to come to the games, dress up and cheer in the stands. There were also alot of people going to the games and sitting in the front row just to get themselves recognized by talent agencies. All this was confirmed by people who actually did this stuff. OWL rivalry's are fake and feel extremely forced to the point that they are cringe. Nobody wants fake content. OWL is like the WWE of esports.
pirate135246 i agree completely, before owl the game would get tons of views even on its monthly melees competitions, but the apex with envy vs lunatic high was an example of a real rivalry, they wanted to make the competitive scene long standing even though the pro scene was very active at the time. Also the lack of character balancing was very disheartening with charters running rampant like brig.

well, the moment you see blizzard sharing an introduction video for the character that shows rein following her, a support, it becomes very clear the devs did not pay attention at all to what she was capable of.

This game was my life and I played it everyday. After Moira was released the game became much more miserable to play and the community got worse. Brig really sealed the deal and I never played it again
i was a genji main when these 2 shit characters got released, they completely killed genji.
Btw there is a big reason why Brigg, Moira and Mercy are female support heroes with braindead Moba kits.

I like how people try to defend Brig being introduced as a counter to dive when dive was only run on attack 50% of the time... on defense rarely since they gave up sightlines. And even then, Dive takes actual skill and wasn’t seen in ladder comp below masters
You’re exactly right, when I played overwatch properly (around when Brig was added) I was mid diamond, people still played whatever and dive was rarely and I mean rarely coordinated in ranked. Comps like double shield, Anna genji we’re still played a lot more in my elo.

Things like "full tank" "tank and healer" team comps only succeed if the tank for some odd reason could deal more DMG than an assassin and for odd reason can also heal themselves.
A lot of players don’t want to play a fps and just exist to protect the actual dps (talking about tanks/healers). When the other roles are boring to play, dps queues get longer, they should just turn the game into 6v6 dps deathmatch at this point

Zarya is a fat dps, dva is also a dps, rein is a dps with a lucio, zen is a dps. Blizzard have no one to blame for goats except themselves, when they designed tank and support characters.
Dps is a completely useless role if you tanks and healers are dogshit you will lose 90% of the time, especially tanks because they are real carry position.

that's what happens when overwatch trying to be paladins, where anybody could do anything. But paladins have the card system for every champion so it's balanced. but as overwatch characters are so linearly designed, an "All in One" character doesn't fit there!
This is also what happens when you release a character with powercreep as its sole purpose

I never knew what to pinpoint it on but now I know, when Brigitte was released was when I lost all sense of joy while playing OW. Sad really, I was so into the lore and the game itself. I have 200+ hours and peaked in platinum. Brigitte was so OP and overtuned at release I remember when her dash would let her climb up walls. She was nuts.

Goats wasn’t bad. I know this keeps getting said, but it was a good meta that lasted too long. Pulling off plays in goats required coordination and felt good when pulled off. The lack of variety (and armor) made it unfun, but there’s been much worse metas. That was the best time to be a tank/support

Lol i thought it was just me. I was diamond since season one and quit when they introduced her and buffed symmetra. The torbjorn, symmetra, brigitta meta was cancer when solo queing. The game felt like the amount of health you had was more important than anything.

You can get far more enjoyment out of playing the custom maps than the main game and that's been the case for awhile now
In my opinion Brig has always been an easy fix but blizzard was too scared or ignorant to impalement it. All they had to do was nerf her shield to the point where dps break it within a few seconds. Her biggest strength has always been her aggressive play style which is enabled by her shield and being able to just walk at anything without a care in the world.
