After replacing the battery on my vehicle the car would not start. The problem is that in the process of changing the battery a fuse was blown. The fuse was in charge of the immobilization system. That is the system that is designed to read the ignition key and make sure that it is in fact the proper key for the vehicle. This is part of the antitheft system. Vehicles can blow fuses for several reasons. It could be a short in the wiring, moisture issues, or very commonly after working on your vehicle. Replacing the battery, replacing the starter, replacing the alternator, replacing the fuel pump, etc.

@@fugegamerguy Seriously? Never mind that you're factually mistaken about what the English word "few" means, it's $2 more than the $0 _you_ gave.
According to the Federal Reserve report "Economic Well Being of US Households in 2020 Dealing with Unexpected Expenses," 36% of Americans don't have enough money to cover a $400 emergency expense. I can only imagine that number has risen over the last 3-4 years. It might not be much for you, but for a lot of folks it's not insignificant. Considering that viewing a TH-cam video is *_free_* in the first place, it's an infinite % more than was required.
For what it's worth, Oxford defines "few" as:
      pronoun
      1.
a small number of people or things.
"I will recount a few of the stories told me"
      2.
used to emphasize how small a number of people or things is.
"few thought to challenge these assumptions"
Is $2 not "a small number of" dollars? If $2 is actually a _lot_ of money for you, post your cashapp and I'll send you $2.
      TL;DR: Yes, it _literally_ is.

2006, Honda Element. The car doesn't start. The blinking green key comes on and doesn't go off, I checked the under-hood fuse box. #6 ECU 15 amp fuse was bad. Replacement fixed the issue.
Thank you all for your time and post. This all helped me to diagnose the issue. I truly appreciate this.

2005 Honda Pilot. Green key light flashing, no turnover, no click at work, end of day... After having the starter replaced (along with a tow to a mechanic, and ride share to home and to work again), key light still blinking, engine still not happy. I had this issue with a 2004 Honda Pilot, but it was intermittent. I found that a tap on the steering wheel allowed the car to start, but that was a temporary fix. After going through all possibilities, including the immobilizer ring suggestion which was ruled out because Honda has discontinued offering this part, I took the car to a mechanic and explained the business with the tapping of the wheel. He called back in an hour or so to inform me the problem was fixed. Apparently there is a little relay box located at the base of the steering column, and by tapping that he was able to start the car. He replaced this unit and no more problem.

I have a 2014 Honda Pilot and found your vid. I checked the fuse and even got a brand new one and didn't solve problem. Then I decided to try jumping the battery with my other car. BAM! It started. I immediately replaced the battery.
So my car gets the GREEN KEY symbol when battery has failed.
So, there's something people can try. But thanks for posting. It helps to consider all possibilities

We had this happen on our 2008 Honda Pilot on one of the keys, but it was starting fine with the Honda factory key and keyfob. What had happened was, we ordered a new keyfob shell for the broken keyfob and it turns out there is a little transponder chip that you have to transfer to the new keyfob. This video helped me track that down so thanks!

My dad has been dealing with this issue for THREE YEARS!! Trying everything under the sun with no luck. Countless hours, money down the drain, lots of frustration.
    Fixed it today!!!
Secondary relay on the backside of the fuse box!
Green light comes on now to start the car when needed! This secondary relay controls security, fuel pump & 5 other things I can’t remember.
side note, we replaced the computer, main relay, immobilizer, switch & key, ect & nothing had worked until now. See countless pages, forums ect on this issue with little to no luck at the end.
    TRY THIS!!

Just bout a crank-no-start 98 Accord, it's the first Honda I've had new enough to have that "feature" (last one was a 92). I didn't know something that miniscule could cause a no-start on a car almost 30 years old. I just got done replacing the crank position sensor in 25F weather and am about to start pulling my hair out. I had no idea the flashing key light was a warning.
Swapping the fuse out for a new one didn't do anything, but at least now I have something specific to diagnose.

Ok so 2011 Honda Odyssey. My key fob case broke on a sport near this key which made my keey kinda wobbly. I went ahead and bought 2 Honda Odyssey flip key fobs with the blank key off ebay for me and the wife. Had my key guy cut both the odyssey keys when I had him cut and program 2 keys for my sons wrx. The 2 odyssey keys he cut, unlock the door and fit on the ignition. I took the guts out one of my odyssey key fobs and put into the new flip one. Electronics work as they should since it's the guts from the original but when I got to start it, I get the flashing green key as it starts and shuts right off! The heck is going on???

My 07 Ody got triggered when i reached in through open window and manually unlocked it. Bought it 3 months ago. Didn't get a fob, just two valet keys. Honking stopped after 6p seconds. But power windows and locks won't work, and car won't start. Green key LED keeps blinking like in this vid. I had to get a ride to work, can't wait to try this when i get home. Hope it doesn't rain.

2008 MDX - broken so I put the key in and use a screwdriver for the ignition switch. Works fine until I use a new ignition switch from a 2007 MDX. Now car shuts down power - only cranks. Don’t run.

So if it’s the key , can a locksmith come fix the issue . Or do you have to get a towed to the dealership for them to program a new key. I don’t see a chip in my key ( 2009 accord ) so I’m assuming it broke and I never realized it

  • @lawrenceanderson6167
    @lawrenceanderson6167 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

ok. So you discovered it was your fuse burned out. Thing is, when you find a fuse blown, it means there is a short somewhere in that circuit. You need to find the short to correct the problem Fuses don't go bad on their own ( unless you saw it was corroded) They basically protect your circuit and are a diagnosis tool. You need to check all wires from that circuit. If your car now works with replacing the fuse, it means your car has an intermittent short.

    • @checkitout2468
      @checkitout2468  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You’re absolutely right! The short happened when I changed the battery!

    • @frankiedoesthegalaxy9177

@@checkitout2468 you changing battery caused the fuse to burn out? Hmm. I was having issues with my tiny battery so I threw in a full size my friend gave me, now I'm wondering if this may have caused it...
For the last month I've had to move the gear shifter around to find the tiny sweet spot that was actually fully in park to turn the car on. That sweet spot went away ...

So i had this problem a while back e
Where the immobilizer light were flashing in my honda civic 2006 so i took to some ecu specialist, he took a look and the next day he called that some connections under the air intake which is connected to the immobilizer were soaked in oil and he cleaned it up and changed the wires and put them somewhere else and that fixed the unprogrammable immobilizer (said this because key smiths came by and couldn't program it because it resets on its own)
So follow the wires (from inside at the immobilizer to out under the hood and air intake) make sure they aren't damaged as will as fuses and everything is connected properly and hope it's not the ecu that is damaged
